I've been Commish in many different leagues in all 4 sports since 2000 (on yahoo, but have been Commish in fantasy sports, pen/pad edition since I was 12 in the late 80's) & I've come up with ideas to make the league more enjoyable. I won't waver on these amendments to the normal league you may be used to 'cause they're tried & true & protect the integrity of the league & the fun of it's participants. the 6 items are as follows:

#1 trades that i deem to be even, will be put through as immediately as i can put them through. i've found that managers appreciate this 'cause it allows them to strategize sooner with their new acquisition. the reason i have trades set to commissioner control as opposed to league vote is to keep bad trades from slipping through cracks due to inactive managers & to avoid inactive managers from vetoing any & all trades out of spite.

#2 trades that i deem to be debatable, will not be put through immediately, but will be up for debate in our message board. this is where you should voice your opinion of the trade if no one chimes in the trade will go through at it's natural time. this almost never happens as we're all vets & as a result, don't agree to trades that are unjustifiable. otherwise it requires 3 managers (25% of the league) to vote against, in order to veto. this is also the percentage required to make changes to league rules/scoring/positions etc, however those rules are slightly different as discussed in #5

#3 trades that i deem to be obviously one sided, i will veto as immediately as i can so as to avoid collusion and protect the integrity of the league as a whole. this never happens anymore. we're not dum-dums in here. there is a school of thought that says you should allow any trade to go through and not interfere with it as the managers obviously agreed with it, but that is a quick way to make a league go downhill & cause managers to lose interest. i won't let collusion happen in the leagues i commish.

#4 talk all of the shit you want. it is one of the more fun aspects of fantasy sports, & curse all the muthafuckenshittybitchass time but please refrain from cursing AT someone or getting too personal in your insults. please keep the smack talk sports related as no one is really going to leave the comfort of their computer to actually kick anyone else's ass, so save yourself the effort & don't pretend to be hot shit. as i said no cursing, directed at a manager, or ethnic/homophobic/narrow minded epithets. if you post one you will be warned, then locked from posting for a week on a second offense, & finally locked permanently from posting after a third.

#5 if you desire to have something about the league changed, be it roster positions, stat categories (individually, not in sweeping changes), keeper numbers, roster numbers, hell I dunno, league names? the time to do so is in the grace period between each sport's league renewal and keeper declaration (generally a period of 3-4 weeks, aka plenty of time). my preferred mode of operation here, would be for you as managers, to email me directly (pat01010101@yahoo.com) to let me know what it is you'd like me to have put to vote. the purpose of this is to keep the message board email alerts to a minimum to disinterested parties, as we require everyone to check the box denoting that you'll receive email alerts of message board changes or trades. it is tiring when people abuse this feature. i'll then immediately post the vote topic in a thread in the in-league message board & allow two days from the time I post it for people to vote. in order for a change to occur a minimum of three managers must vote in favor & carry the majority vote. this differs from trade objections only in as much as there is no majority required to veto trades since they are less consequential, & as they happen mid season at random, as opposed to a specified time pre-season that we'll all be aware of, there is more likelihood of a greater number of managers not having time to vote.

#6 we reward the champion with the top pick of the draft in each sport, and so on down the line, in a snaking order. this has markedly improved the level of competition on whole as well as activity. you were all made aware of this in recruitment or else when i made the change starting with baseball 2017 and it has had the desired effect. i will be open to the idea of randomizing the draft order if and only if, we are able to string together 2 straight years with zero manager turnover.

you'll find that i've above average knowledge of player value so my judgments will be accurate, but if you ever disagree with my judgments please feel free to post about it & it will be open for discussion. in the end all i want is an active league and a fair one so i will do what i need to, to protect that. i am taking the league seriously so that you guys don't have to. i'm open to suggestions that can make the league run more smoothly
