  • Nikola Jokic will be the starting PF
Nikola Jokic be the starting power forward for the regular season.

Advice: His minutes were safe regardless. Jokic still struggles on closing out on pick-and-pop plays, but he has shown some improvement. Coach Mike Malone must also feel confident in Jokic's perimeter D or else he wouldn't make this move. He's a per-minute monster and deserves a selection in the early rounds of fantasy drafts. 28 minutes ago
  • Kenneth Faried to come off the bench
Kenneth Faried will come off the bench this regular season.

Advice: He had a good game on Friday, scoring 10 points with nine rebounds, one assist and one steal in 21 minutes. With Nikola Jokic set to play minutes at both big spots and coach Mike Malone loving to go small, Faried's playing time may only be hanging in the low 20s. He's also a trade candidate given Denver's depth -- that might be a good thing. If you draft Faried late, make sure your expectations are somewhat low. 32 minutes ago
  • Jamal Murray had a rough preseason finale
Jamal Murray made 2-of-11 from the field for five points with three rebounds, three assists and four turnovers in 22 minutes on Friday.

Advice: Most of that momentum he built up in the preseason was negated here. Murray continues to try to make plays that aren't there and isn't facilitating well enough at this early stage. Coach Mike Malone will have to figure out if he wants to trust Murray as a second-unit ball-handler. There is still just too much depth on Denver to draft Murray in most leagues. 36 minutes ago
  • Harrison Barnes' bad preseason finally ends
Harrison Barnes did not do much on Friday, scoring eight points with three rebounds and one steal in 26 minutes.

Advice: It was a preseason to forget for Harry B. The Mavs are obviously committed to him with his $94 million deal, so he has a leash as long as Texas as the starting small forward. Barnes is being put into a new role and it's really tough to invest anything more than a late-round pick on him based on how awful he looked this month. 40 minutes ago
  • Kawhi Leonard has another strong preseason
Kawhi Leonard scored 15 points with four rebounds, two assists, one steal and two 3-pointers in 18 minutes on Friday.

Advice: That's a wrap for his preseason and he obviously dominated. In his five games, Leonard averaged 15.4 points, 5.2 boards, 2.2 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.6 treys in just 22.2 minutes per game. He's an elite option and should be coming off the board in the same neighborhood as Karl-Anthony Towns. 44 minutes ago
  • Kyle Anderson scores 10 in start
Kyle Anderon scored 10 points with four rebounds, three assists and two blocks in 20 minutes during his start for Danny Green (quad) on Friday.

Advice: Coach Gregg Popovich is a mad scientist when it comes to replacing an injured starter, but most signs point to it being Anderson. The Spurs could obviously shift Kawhi Leonard over to the two and give themselves more size on the outside -- Anderson can guard most threes. Pop has also said he wanted to get Anderson more minutes, so this situation gives him a chance to do so. He's not a lock for consistent production, but give him a look if you have dead weight until things clear up. 48 minutes ago
  • Robbie Hummel, Wolters waived
Nuggets waive F Robbie Hummel and G Nate Wolters.

Advice: Hummel had some talent earlier in his career, but the ACL surgeries hurt his chances to get going again. 52 minutes ago
  • Pat Beverley (knee scope) out 3 weeks
Patrick Beverley (knee) will undergo a minor surgical scope on his left knee early next week.

Advice: He is expected to miss three weeks, which is a slightly better prognosis than what coach Mike D'Antoni said with Beverley possibly missing 20 games. The Rockets are going to lean more on Eric Gordon and James Harden to take on most of their guard minutes while Pablo Prigioni, K.J. McDaniels and Tyler Ennis could fill in the gaps. 54 minutes ago
  • MDA wants Gordon or Harden on court
Coach Mike D'Antoni wants James Harden or Eric Gordon on the floor at all times while Patrick Beverley (knee) is out.

Advice: We haven't seen Gordon play on the ball with great regularity since his Clippers days, but desperate times call for desperate measures. Following the Rockets game, Gordon was actually first in offensive rating this preseason and the Rockets offense has been a monster this month. Gordon has risk, but he has big upside too. 58 minutes ago
  • Pablo Prigioni returns on Friday
Pablo Prigioni (shoulder) returned on Friday with 10 points, one assist and two 3-pointers in 19 minutes.

Advice: He may not have been 100 percent, but coach Mike D'Antoni wanted to get a look at him. It's still unclear how the Rockets will handle the point guard minutes behind James Harden, but there likely won't be enough to matter for Prigioni to have value. Today, 9:23 pm
  • Tyler Ennis scores six points
Tyler Ennis scored six points with four rebounds, one assist, one steal and one turnover in 21 minutes on Friday.

Advice: He had a chance to get into the rotation, but he didn't really help himself. Ennis will have to battle with Pablo Prigioni for minutes, but there likely won't be enough minutes to matter anyway. Today, 9:19 pm
  • Spanish Chocolate starts, scores 13
Sergio Rodriguez scored 13 points with three rebounds, four assists and two 3-pointers in 26 minutes during his start on Friday.

Advice: T.J. McConnell started the second half, so this position battle is still unclear. Jerryd Bayless (wrist) is going to miss the start of the season and it's still possible he needs surgery. Both Rodriguez and McConnell should be looking at a split of the minutes. Spanish Chocolate has the higher upside, so he's the better pick in deep leagues. Today, 9:10 pm
  • Jerami Grant scores 17 points
Jerami Grant scored 17 points with four rebounds, one assist, two steals and no turnovers in 24 minutes on Friday.

Advice: Robert Covington (ankle) couldn't return, so Grant saw some added run. Grant's offensive arsenal has grown this preseason and he'll be asked to play both forward spots. He's still likely to be a major problem in the percentage categories, so it's tough to target him in standard leagues. Today, 9:03 pm
  • Dario Saric scores 19 with seven boards
Dario Saric scored 19 points with seven rebounds, one assist, one steal, one block and one 3-pointer in 29 minutes on Friday.

Advice: Former GM Sam Hinkie must feel like a proud papa here with his stashed guy playing his best game. Saric was playing through an abdominal injury in this game, but coach Brett Brown really wanted to have his starting power forward get a feel for a full complement of minutes. The rookie will have some ups and downs, but his diversity on the stat sheet makes him a prime pick late in drafts. Today, 9:00 pm
  • Robert Covington suffers ankle sprain
Robert Covington suffered a right ankle sprain and did not return on Friday.

Advice: He was originally getting re-taped to come back in the game, but the team wisely changed its mind. There's been no word on RoCo missing time going forward and we would consider him probable for the opener right now. With Ben Simmons (foot) out, expect Covington to be a stud for steals and treys. He's a solid pick in the late middle rounds. Today, 8:56 pm
  • Pat Beverley expected to miss 20 games
Coach Mike D'Antoni said Pat Beverley (knee) is expected to miss about 20 games.

Advice: The timetable is about the same whether he waits it out or has surgery, so we still don't know the treatment plan. Whatever the case, if he misses 20 games, that puts his target date at Dec. 5 against the Celtics -- he could miss fewer than that, though. James Harden is going to get the starting job and play massive minutes. After that, it looks like Tyler Ennis is next in line. Eric Gordon is also locked in for minutes at SG with Harden at the point. Today, 7:51 pm
  • Shabazz Muhammad scores 17 in 19 minutes
Shabazz Muhammad scored 17 points in 19 minutes on Friday, adding two rebounds, one steal and two 3-pointers.

Advice: Yeah, the hip soreness looked like a non-issue. Muhammad led basically every rotation player last year in points per touch and he's looked even more well-rounded as a scorer. Andrew Wiggins (illness) was at the arena tonight, so he should be ready to go. If not, Muhammad will be a sneaky pickup. Today, 7:41 pm
  • D-Will, Wes, Harry B, Dirk & Bogut to start
Deron Williams, Wesley Matthews, Harrison Barnes, Dirk Nowitzki and Andrew Bogut will start on Friday.

Advice: Let's all hope Harry B can get it going. He's had a really rough time this month. Today, 5:57 pm
  • Bebe sprains his left ankle
Lucas Nogueira (left ankle sprain) will not return on Friday.

Advice: He was in some pain due to the first half injury. Nogueira was the first big man off the bench and looked like he would be in the rotation. If he's not ready, that opens up a chance for Pascal Siakam and Jakob Poeltl. Today, 5:36 pm
  • Celtics sign Ryan Kelly
    Celtics sign F Ryan Kelly.

Advice: He won't be making the big club. Today, 5:33 pm
  • Shabazz Muhammad will play on Friday
Shabazz Muhammad (hip) will play on Friday.

Advice: He had some hip soreness for some time and the Wolves shut him down. With Andrew Wiggins down, we'll get a good look at Bazz, assuming he's close to 100 percent. Today, 4:21 pm
  • Ennis, KJ, Brewer, Ryno & Nene to start
Nene, Ryan Anderson, K.J. McDaniels, Corey Brewer and Tyler Ennis will start on Friday.

Advice: Nene isn't going to play a lot with the Rockets giving their guys a night off. This will be a big chance for Ennis to show he can get in the rotation behind James Harden while Pat Beverley (knee) is on the shelf. Today, 4:14 pm
  • Kyle Anderson starting on Friday night
Kyle Anderson will start for Danny Green (thigh) on Friday night.

Advice: The position flexibility is helpful here and we might see Anderson run more stuff on offense. With Danny Green (thigh) possibly missing weeks, there is a chance here. He's been a little disappointing this month, so he's only a short-term option. Today, 3:57 pm
  • Josh McRoberts out again on Friday
Josh McRoberts (foot) will not play on Friday.

Advice: The Heat are in no rush to bring him back. McRoberts has no timetable to return. Today, 3:21 pm
  • Sergio, Hendo, Cov, Saric & Process starting
Sergio Rodriguez, Gerald Henderson, Robert Covington, Dario Saric and Joel Embiid will start on Friday.

Advice: This seems like a tune up for the 76ers and maybe it means Rodriguez starts the opener. For what it's worth, this group was together in their scrimmage on Thursday. There still isn't enough upside to draft Rodriguez in most leagues. Today, 3:17 pm
  • Giannis Antetokounmpo dealing with illness
Giannis Antetokounmpo is dealing with an illness on Friday.

Advice: He's not going to attend the pizza event in Milwaukee because of the illness. He has a few days to get well before the opener and should be ready to go. Antetokounmpo isn't going to be the "point guard" on the roster, but he'll be running the offense. His upside is massive. Today, 2:01 pm
  • Aaron Brooks (knee) questionable for opener
Aaron Brooks (knee) did not practice on Friday and could miss the opener.

Advice: He's been out since Oct. 14 due to this knee issue. Brooks should be getting the backup minutes behind Jeff Teague, but he's not going to play next to Teague. If he's out, Joe Young would get in the rotation. Today, 1:47 pm
  • C.J. Miles up in the air for opener
C.J. Miles (knee) did not practice on Friday.

Advice: With Miles down, the Pacers have seen Glenn Robinson III have a wonderful preseason. Miles is expected to play more stretch four in the second unit, but his minutes could be in jeopardy if GR3 keeps playing well. Today, 1:44 pm
  • Dennis Schroder not feeling pressure
Dennis Schroder said he's not feeling pressure as the new starting point guard.

Advice: "They say it’s my team," Schroder said. "I’m the point guard. For me, pressure is not really there because I’ve got so many guys who play on a [high] level." He's looked fine in the preseason and has even assisted Dwight Howard eight times during the preseason. We did see coach Mike Budenholzer put him in the doghouse for guys like Shelvin Mack, but Schroder seems to be locked in for minutes in the mid 30s. Today, 12:54 pm
  • Bulls waive Dinwiddie on Friday
    Bulls waive G Spencer Dinwiddie.

Advice: The writing was on the wall on Thursday with Dinwiddie getting bumped from the rotation due to the Michael Carter-Williams deal. The former Piston looked good at times this month and even dropped a 19-pointer, so expect him to sign on somewhere else. Today, 11:49 am
  • Spurs pick up options on Slo-Mo
The Spurs exercised their fourth-year option on Kyle Anderson.

Advice: This was a no-brainer for the Spurs. Anderson has been a letdown this month after coach Gregg Popovich said he has to find playing time for him. If Kawhi Leonard misses time, Anderson will be a hot fantasy add. Today, 11:45 am
  • Shabazz Muhammad (hip) questionable Friday
Shabazz Muhammad (right hip soreness) is questionable for Friday's game vs. the Hornets.

Advice: He went through a full practice on Thursday and should be good to go for the season opener regardless of his status for Friday. Muhammad will be instant offense off the Minnesota bench, but doesn't do much in the box score outside of the scoring column. He's not worth owning while Andrew Wiggins is healthy. Today, 9:59 am
  • Eric Gordon resting on Friday
Eric Gordon will rest vs. the Spurs on Friday.

Advice: He should open the season as the starter at SG, especially with Patrick Beverley possibly needing knee surgery. Gordon is averaging 15.2 points and 2.5 treys per game during the preseason and looks like a nice value pick late. K.J. McDaniels and Corey Brewer will be busy Friday. Today, 9:16 am
  • MCW makes his Bulls debut
Michael Carter-Williams scored four points in 21 minutes against the Hawks on Thursday, adding one rebound, three assists and one block.

Advice: He did make just 1-of-5 from the field. Carter-Williams is going to back up Rajon Rondo and should have plenty of shooters around him in the second unit. MCW is still not worth drafting in most leagues. Yesterday, 9:01 pm
  • Pablo Prigioni (shoulder) questionable Friday
Pablo Prigioni (left shoulder) is questionable to play in Friday's preseason finale against the Spurs.

Advice: If there's any doubt about the health of Prigioni's shoulder, you can bet that he won't be taking the court Friday night. Prigioni will turn 40 years old this season, and is not worth a draft pick in any setting. Yesterday, 2:18 pm
  • Shabazz Muhammad (hip) practices Thursday
Shabazz Muhammad (right hip soreness) went through a full practice on Thursday.

Advice: Muhammad is going to be re-evaluated again following Friday morning's shootaround, so for now we'll be considering him questionable for tomorrow's preseason finale against the Hornets. It's going to be difficult for Muhammad to make a difference in most fantasy leagues while the Timberwolves are at full strength. Yesterday, 1:00 pm
  • Josh McRoberts out Thursday vs Hornets
Josh McRoberts (left foot) will miss Thursday's game against the Hornets.

Advice: McRoberts has no set timetable for his return and has no fantasy value in standard fantasy leagues at the moment. Yesterday, 7:42 am
  • Harry Bad: Barnes now at just 35.3 TS% as Mav
Harrison Barnes' disastrous preseason continued on Wednesday, making 1-of-9 from the field for eight points with three rebounds and two turnovers.

Advice: So it turns out Kevin Durant is an upgrade over Harry B. In the preseason, Barnes has a woeful 35.2 true shooting percentage, including just 17.1 percent on his jumpers. We've seen Barnes have rough stretches for months at a time, but needless to say the Mavs aren't feeling great about paying him. If he falls to the last few rounds, he still might be worth a late pick. Wednesday, 8:45 pm
  • Eric Gordon scores 13 points as starter
Eric Gordon scored 13 points with one assist, one steal and two 3-pointers on Wednesday.

Advice: The Rockets were launching treys in this game with 39 attempts, making just 12. Gordon attempted seven of them and figures to be chucking plenty more as the favorite to start. His downside is there due to a slew of injuries, but he's a big beneficiary of Pat Beverley (knee) not being healthy. Wednesday, 8:28 pm
  • Sergio, Hendo, Cov, Saric & Process starting?
Sergio Rodriguez, Gerald Henderson, Robert Covington, Dario Saric and Joel Embiid were playing together on a scrimmage.

Advice: It's a toss up for Rodriguez or T.J. McConnell to start in the opener. It looks like Jerryd Bayless (wrist) is not going to be ready for the opener, which means there should be a lot of minutes available. Wednesday, 4:07 pm
  • C.J. Miles (sore knee) held out of contact
C.J. Miles (sore left knee) did spot-up shooting on Wednesday but he didn't participate in contact drills.

Advice: Miles won't play on Wednesday, obviously, and it's unclear when he'll be cleared to return -- the injury doesn't sound too serious but Indiana might play it safe with the veteran marksman. If he does miss time, expect Glenn Robinson III to pick up most of his minutes. Wednesday, 3:58 pm
  • Shabazz Muhammad out with hip soreness
Shabazz Muhammad (right hip soreness) will not play on Wednesday.

Advice: He did not play on Sunday, but that was reported as a rest day. Muhammad doesn't have a history with hip injuries and this is just reported as soreness, so he should be fine. Wednesday, 3:35 pm
  • Pablo Prigioni is still out
Pablo Prigioni (shoulder) will not play on Wednesday and is expected to play on Friday.

Advice: With Patrick Beverley (knee) and Prigioni out, James Harden is going to handle most of the point guard minutes. Tyler Ennis should be in the rotation with around 15-20 minutes tonight. Wednesday, 11:39 am
  • Patrick Beverley out through preseason
Patrick Beverley (knee) will not play in the preseason.

Advice: He may need surgery on his knee and could miss time in the regular season regardless of the treatment plan. There's always a lot of buzz around a Mike D'Antoni point guard, but it turns out that guy may be James Harden. With Beverley out, Eric Gordon benefits the most. Wednesday, 11:31 am
  • Eric Gordon will start on Wednesday night
Eric Gordon will start next to James Harden on Wednesday night.

Advice: The Harden PG era looks like it'll be underway tonight. Gordon should also benefit greatly as a key 3-pointers specialist for coach Mike D'Antoni. While Gordon is injury prone, he's coming off a 2.5 treys per game season and could flirt with 3.0 this year. He's a nice target in the late rounds. Wednesday, 11:26 am
  • Michael Carter-Williams will play Thursday
Michael Carter-Williams went through a full practice on Wednesday and will make his Bulls' debut Thursday vs. the Hawks.

Advice: MCW is going to play limited minutes behind Rajon Rondo this season, so there's no reason to draft him in most settings. Wednesday, 11:08 am
  • Aaron Brooks (knee) out Wednesday vs. MIL
Aaron Brooks (knee) will remain sidelined for Wednesday's preseason game against the Bucks.

Advice: He was listed as doubtful heading into this one, so it's not surprising at all to see him opt-out of Wednesday's meaningless game. Brooks isn't going to have any fantasy value this season while the Pacers are at full strength. Wednesday, 10:32 am
  • Miles (knee), Brooks (knee) out Wednesday
C.J. Miles (sore left knee) and Aaron Brooks (sore right knee) have been ruled out for Wednesday's preseason game against the Bucks.

Advice: Neither player is dealing with a significant injury, but it always seems to be something with Miles. Neither Miles nor Brooks will be worth drafting in most leagues this season. Wednesday, 10:29 am
  • Brown unconcerned with Saric's shooting woes
Brett Brown was not at all concerned when discussing Dario Saric's recent shooting struggles.

Advice: "[It's no surprise] at all," Brown said of Saric's recent shooting struggles. "It's going to happen throughout the year. It's just a long year and it's a new year and it's an unfamiliar year with teammates and coaches and everything." Over the past three preseason games, Saric has shot just 5-of-22 from the field, but he believes once he stops rushing things his shot will come back to him. Like most rookies, turnovers and shooting percentages will likely be an issue for Saric, but he has the ability to bring a little bit of everything to the stat sheet making him an alluring late-round target. Wednesday, 6:57 am
  • Patrick Beverley may need surgery on knee
Patrick Beverley may need surgery on his left knee according to ESPN.

Advice: Wow. He's missed the last four games with "knee irritation," and Rockets coach Mike D'Antoni hinted last week that he's not expecting him to be ready for the regular season. Beverley will undergo further evaluations this week before a final determination is made, but this takes him off the standard-league radar until we know more. Eric Gordon gets a bump with this news and should start next to James Harden. Tuesday, 8:25 pm
  • Jamal Murray struggles Tuesday
Jamal Murray hit just 4-of-16 shots and missed all six of his 3-point attempts to finish with nine points, three boards, three assists, a steal and a block on Tuesday.

Advice: He's had some nice games in the preseason but never got his shot going tonight. He's a fun rookie to keep an eye on, but still isn't worth drafting in most standard leagues. Tuesday, 8:09 pm
  • Kenneth Faried appears headed for bench
Kenneth Faried came off the bench again on Tuesday and hit 4-of-7 shots for nine points, two rebounds and a block in 16 minutes.

Advice: It looks like Jusuf Nurkic will start at center and Nikola Jokic will get the nod at power forward, pushing Faried to the bench. He's been disappointing nearly every season he's been in the league and having to battle with Jokic for minutes and production could be a rough road for the Manimal. He's nothing more than a late-round fantasy flier right now. Tuesday, 8:07 pm
  • Nikola Jokic scores 11 Tuesday
Nikola Jokic hit 5-of-9 shots for 11 points, six rebounds, one assist, one steal and zero blocks in 26 minutes on Tuesday.

Advice: He's going to start at power forward, with Jusuf Nurkic at center, assuming nothing changes between now and the start of the season. Jokic's preseason has been a bit disappointing, but the talent is there and we're still expecting a pretty big year from him. However, the sudden rise of Nurkic hasn't done him any favors thus far, and may negatively impact him for the foreseeable future. Tuesday, 8:04 pm
  • Hawks waive Ryan Kelly
The Hawks have waived Ryan Kelly.

Advice: The Hawks' roster is down to 18 after they let go of Matt Costello earlier in the week. Kelly will likely end up in the D-League or head overseas. Tuesday, 7:39 pm
  • Dennis Schroder scores 13 points
Dennis Schroder scored 13 points vs. the Pelicans on Tuesday with five rebounds, five assists, one steal, one 3-pointer and three turnovers in 25 minutes.

Advice: One of the biggest concerns about Schroder is that he shot 42.1 percent from the field last season, but through four preseason games he's up to 45.9 percent. It's a small sample size, but he does look more confident. He should be able to clear 30 minutes per night this season as the full-time starter and it helps that Jarrett Jack (knee) won't be ready for the opener. If you're targeting assists, he's a nice mid-round option. Tuesday, 7:37 pm
  • Michael Carter-Williams doesn't practice Tues
Michael Carter-Williams did not practice on Tuesday.

Advice: He still needs to go through his physical, but he should be cleared in time for Thursday's preseason game against the Hawks. That being said, the former Rookie of the Year winner is going to struggle to get meaningful minutes this season operating as Rajon Rondo's backup, so he's not a very attractive target in most setting. Tuesday, 11:53 am
  • Aaron Brooks doubtful for Weds vs Bucks
Aaron Brooks (sore right knee) is doubtful for Wednesday's game against the Bucks.

Advice: Brooks had been battling a hip injury throughout the preseason, but his knee injury is relatively new. While Brooks may be ready for the regular season opener, he doesn't have any fantasy value at this point. Tuesday, 10:34 am
  • C.J. Miles takes some practice shots on Tues
C.J. Miles (sore left knee) didn't practice, but was able to take some shots on Tuesday.

Advice: Miles will travel with the team to Milwaukee and is expected to participate in shootaround on Wednesday. While Miles looks to be on track for the regular season opener, he doesn't have much fantasy value outside of deeper leagues. Tuesday, 10:31 am
  • Patrick Beverley likely to miss season opener
Patrick Beverley (sore knee) is likely to miss the season opener.

Advice: Beverley is trying to work his way back from irritation in his left knee, and head coach Mike D'Antoni isn't counting on him for the opener. "We'll know more by the end of the week," D'Antoni said. "I'm not counting on [Beverley returning by the season opener]. Can't count on that." Beverley could lose his starting SG job to Eric Gordon by the time he returns, and isn't much more than a late-round pick in standard fantasy leagues. Tuesday, 10:16 am
  • Giannis Antetokounmpo scores 21 in loss
Giannis Antetokounmpo scored a preseason high 21 points vs. the Pistons on Monday, adding six boards, four assists, one trey and five turnovers in 33 minutes.

Advice: After a slow start to the preseason, Giannis finally looks like he's worth all the hype. He finished 7-of-11 from the field and 6-of-7 from the line, and added his second 3-pointer through five games. He needs to reel in the turnovers, but Giannis is still locked and loaded as a mid-first round pick in standard leagues. Monday, 7:16 pm
  • Delly, Giannis, Parker, Mirza, Miles to start
Matthew Dellavedova, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jabari Parker, Mirza Teletovic and Miles Plumlee are the expected starters vs. the Pistons on Tuesday.

Advice: Interesting. Malcolm Brogdon was the listed starter, but Teletovic was running with the starters during warmups. The Bucks really need Teletovic's floor spacing this season, so he's a sneaky late-round pick for his upside in treys. Giannis should be busy tonight and could see an uptick in assists with Teletovic on the floor. Monday, 4:04 pm
  • Josh McRoberts (foot) out Tuesday
Josh McRoberts (stress reaction in left foot) will not play vs. the Magic on Tuesday.

Advice: The oft-injured forward has no set timetable for a return and has no fantasy value. Monday, 3:14 pm
  • C.J. Miles (sore left knee) misses practice
C.J. Miles (sore left knee) missed practice again on Monday.

Advice: Coach Nate McMilan said that Miles is day-to-day, but he's not a lock to be ready for opening night either. If he can't go, Glenn Robinson III could be in the rotation behind Paul George after a solid preseason. Miles isn't worth monitoring outside of deeper leagues. Monday, 10:41 am
  • Robert Covington (migraine) misses practice
Robert Covington missed practice on Monday due to a migraine.

Advice: The 76ers have one more preseason game on Friday vs. the Heat, so Covington should be considered questionable. Hollis Thompson missed practice with an illness, so Jerami Grant could be looking at a heavy workload Friday. Monday, 9:49 am
  • Bulls officially acquire MCW for Tony Snell
The Bulls have officially acquired Michael Carter-Williams in exchange for Tony Snell.

Advice: MCW is a questionable fit on a roster that lacks perimeter shooting, but he is arguably an upgrade over Jerian Grant. Rajon Rondo is locked in as the starter, so the move to Chicago doesn't really improve MCW's fantasy outlook. Unless you're in a points league, let someone else take a flier on him. Monday, 7:55 am
  • Shabazz Muhammad (rest) out Sunday vs. OKC
Shabazz Muhammad (rest) will not suit up for Sunday's exhibition game against the Thunder.

Advice: Muhammad isn't dealing with any sort of injury, but this is a preseason back-to-back set, so Thibodeau is also resting his entire starting five. Nemanja Bjelica could flirt with close to 40 minutes tonight. Sunday, 3:59 pm
  • Schroder, Bazemore, Korver, Howard out Sunday
Dennis Schroder, Kent Bazemore, Kyle Korver and Dwight Howard will all be rested for Sunday's exhibition matchup against the Magic.

Advice: It's just an off-day for the veterans for Sunday's meaningless game. Expect to see more Tim Hardaway Jr., Taurean Prince and Walter Tavares with the offense flowing through Paul Millsap while he's on the court. Sunday, 1:19 pm
  • Brown: Sergio tried to run too many plays
Brett Brown said that Sergio Rodriguez was running too many plays vs. the Pistons on Saturday instead of just going out there and playing.

Advice: "He's elusive in open court," Brown said. "He's got a feel. He's slippery with his handle and his vision. So I want him to play more like he's always played." Rodriguez got the start at PG, but struggled with three points on 1-for-5 shooting with seven dimes, one rebound, one steal, and three turnovers. Jerryd Bayless (wrist) could be looking at an extended absence, so Rodriguez could be sneaky pickup in deeper leagues for owners targeting assists. Sunday, 10:13 am
  • MCW, Snell trade to be completed Monday
The trade involving Michael Carter-Williams and Tony Snell is expected to be finalized on Monday.

Advice: The deal has been agreed to in principle and the two teams just need to call the league office on Monday. MCW's value around the league has never been lower and the move to Chicago won't necessarily help his fantasy value -- Rajon Rondo is locked in as the starter. As for Snell, he could be looking at solid minutes on the wings in Milwaukee with Khris Middleton (groin) out for most of the season, but most fantasy owners should use a wait-and-see approach. Sunday, 8:16 am
  • Giannis Antetokounmpo getting more PG run?
Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 14 points with six rebounds, four assists, one steal and two blocks on Saturday.

Advice: With Michael Carter-Williams likely heading to Chicago, it looks like we'll be seeing more of P-Giannis. He's not having the strongest preseason with only a 61.9 free throw percentage and making just 33.3 percent on his jumpers. Whatever the case, Antetokounmpo is still locked and loaded as a mid-first pick in standard leagues. Saturday, 8:48 pm
  • Michael Carter-Williams likely headed to CHI?
The Bucks and Bulls are in "deep talks" on a Michael Carter-Williams for Tony Snell trade, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.

Advice: It sounds like the deal is going to happen and it could be finalized as soon as Monday. The Bulls would be getting a backup point guard behind Rajon Rondo to help get the ball to the shooters in their second unit. A new, up-tempo home for Carter-Williams is a positive, but it's still not enough to draft him in most leagues. Saturday, 8:35 pm
  • Dario Saric has another sub-par showing
Dario Saric scored eight points with five rebounds and one assist in 22 minutes against the Pistons on Saturday.

Advice: The 76ers as a whole had a rough time on offense tonight, making just 36.8 percent from the field. Saric has gone cold over his last three games at just 22.7 percent from the field in that span with no treys or defensive stats. The 76ers do seem committed to him and Ben Simmons (foot) could miss the entire season, so Saric makes sense in the later rounds to see what he can do in the starting lineup. Saturday, 6:40 pm
  • D'Antoni: Eric Gordon could start for Rockets
Mike D'Antoni said that Eric Gordon could start over Patrick Beverley (knee) for the Rockets.

Advice: D'Antoni said that Gordon isn't starting on Saturday because he wants to keep him in the role that he's expected to have when Beverley returns, but then added in the same breath that EJ could eventually start over Beverley. It doesn't sound like even D'Antoni is sure on exactly what he wants to do, but it's nice to have options. Regardless of whether he starts or comes off the bench, Gordon should play closer to starter's minutes and looks like a good late-round source of 3-pointers and scoring so long as he remains on the court. Saturday, 3:35 pm
  • Pablo Prigioni (shoulder) will not play Sat.
Pablo Prigioni (left shoulder sprain) will not play on Saturday vs. the Grizzlies.

Advice: He was doubtful coming in, so this isn't a surprise. Tyler Ennis could see some extended minutes with Patrick Beverley (knee) sidelined, as well. Saturday, 3:28 pm
  • Josh McRoberts (foot) remains out on Saturday
Josh McRoberts (stress reaction in left foot) remains sidelined for Saturday's preseason contest vs. the Timberwolves.

Advice: Remember when McBob was once seen as the crucial cog that would keep LeBron in Miami? Good times. Saturday, 3:04 pm
  • C.J. Miles (left knee) not a lock for opener
C.J. Miles (sore left knee) is not a lock to be ready by opening night.

Advice: Although he's labeled as day-to-day, nobody seems to really know when Miles will be able to get back onto the court. "He's being reevaluated as far as where he's at and being able to get on the floor," said head coach Nate McMillan. As a result, Glen Robinson III has been given a new opportunity and could be in line to begin the year in the rotation. When discussing Miles, McMillan confirmed that "Glenn has taken that spot." Saturday, 2:10 pm
  • Lucas Nogueira battling for backup C spot
Lucas Nogueira is locked in a competition with Jakob Poeltl for the backup center position.

Advice: While neither Poeltl nor Nogueira has done much to separate himself as the lead dog behind Jonas Valanciunas, "Bebe" seems to be slightly ahead in the competition. "That’s been his challenge, to take this craft seriously," Dwane Casey said when asked if he sees a more mature Nogueira. "It’s his job. Don’t come back looking the same every year. Bring something new back. Work on something in the summer time whether it’s your body or your shooting or your shot-blocking ability, whatever it is. I’ve seen more of a serious approach from Lucas. But consistency is important. We can talk about it. I want to see the consistency from Lucas. He’s done it this whole camp. We’ve got three or four months to go. He has to continue that approach." Saturday, 12:59 pm
  • Dennis Schroder unlikely to get an extension?
The Hawks are taking a wait-and-see approach in regards to Dennis Schroder's contract situation.

Advice: The Hawks traded away Jeff Teague in order to give Schroder the keys to the offense, and even though they are obviously very high on him, they want to see how he looks as the full-time starter before beginning contract talks. The deadline for an extension is Oct. 31. He is averaging 10.6 points and 5.3 assists in 22.6 minutes through three preseason games. Saturday, 7:53 am
  • Nikola Jokic posts double-double vs. GSW
Nikola Jokic was effective against the Warriors on Friday, scoring 14 points with 10 rebounds, two assists, one steal and one 3-pointer in 23 minutes.

Advice: There he is. Before this game, Jokic's usage rate and rebound rate are both less than half than Jusuf Nurkic's in their playing time together this preseason. Disappointing preseason aside, Jokic is still set up for a big year with minutes at two positions. He's a high-ceiling pick in the early rounds. Friday, 9:24 pm
  • Jamal Murray looking better at PG, scores 16
Jamal Murray looked more comfortable in an overtime loss on Friday, scoring 16 points with five rebounds, seven assists, two steals, one block and three 3-pointers in 27 minutes.

Advice: He ran a lot of point guard in this game with Emmanuel Mudiay (ankle) going down due to injury. Murray has been very vocal about wanting to play some point and he might have a big chance while Mudiay is on the shelf. His value in keeper leagues looks more promising, but he's still only a target in deeper re-draft leagues for now. Friday, 9:18 pm
  • Kyle Anderson scores six points in start
Kyle Anderson scored six points with seven rebounds, one assist, two steals and one turnover in 18 minutes.

Advice: He might have a statue for Summer League play, but Anderson just hasn't done anything this month. Coach Gregg Popovich said he's going to have to find a way to get get Anderson minutes, but this sub-par month is taking the luster off him as a late-round pick. Friday, 8:16 pm
  • Sergio Rodriguez to start at PG Saturday
Sergio Rodriguez will start at point guard on Saturday vs. the Pistons.

Advice: T.J. McConnell will move to the bench. Jerryd Bayless (wrist) has no timetable to return and his injury could be serious, so the 76ers want to see how Rodriguez looks in the first unit. Through five preseason games he's averaging 5.6 points, 5.6 assists, 2.2 rebounds, 1.0 3-pointer, 1.0 steal and 3.0 turnovers per game. Friday, 10:38 am
  • Patrick Beverley could miss a week or two
Patrick Beverley (sore knee) could miss a week or two according to coach Mike D'Antoni.

Advice: The season starts in less than two weeks, so this report means that Beverley's status for the opener is up in the air. Beverley was expected to start next to Harden this season, but Eric Gordon has looked great in the preseason and could steal the job. Beverley is still not practicing with the team. Friday, 10:19 am
  • Pablo Prigioni (shoulder) doubtful Saturday
Pablo Prigioni (shoulder) is doubtful for Saturday's game vs. Memphis.

Advice: It's a left shoulder sprain, so he's not going to play in a meaningless game. Regardless, Prigioni will not have any fantasy value as the third-string PG in Houston. Friday, 9:57 am
  • Patrick Beverley (sore knee) out Saturday
Patrick Beverley (sore knee) will not play on Saturday vs. Memphis.

Advice: He still isn't practicing and the Rockets haven't provided a timetable. A report on Thursday indicated that Beverley is "feeling better," but we won't have any more clarity for a couple more days. Pablo Prigioni (shoulder) is doubtful, so James Harden and Eric Gordon could be busy. Friday, 9:53 am
  • Aaron Brooks (knee) ruled out Friday
Aaron Brooks (sore right knee) will not play on Friday vs. the Magic.

Advice: He was bothered by a hip injury earlier in preseason, so this is a new concern. Brooks hasn't played well at all with his new team, so he's in danger of losing some minutes to Joe Young. Brooks is not worth targeting in most fantasy leagues. Friday, 8:27 am
  • C.J. Miles, Aaron Brooks ruled out Friday
C.J. Miles (sore left knee) and Aaron Brooks (sore right knee) will not play vs. the Magic on Friday.

Advice: Miles was listed as doubtful, so the Pacers will hold him out as expected. It doesn't sound serious, so he should be ready for the opener in a couple weeks. Miles averaged 11.8 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.8 steals, 0.5 blocks and 2.2 3-pointers on 41 percent shooting last season, but he will have a tough time matching those numbers on a revamped Pacers roster. Friday, 8:25 am
  • Dennis Schroder has best game of month
Dennis Schroder played 29 minutes against the Pistons on Thursday, totaling 17 points, three rebounds, nine assists, one block and two 3-pointers.

Advice: It's by far his best game with preseason highs in every category except for steals. Schroder only plays 28.8 minutes per game in his six starts last year, but he should be able to clear 30 minutes this year. As long as you're OK with some sub-par shooting, Schroder should be a decent pick in the middle rounds. Thursday, 8:38 pm
  • The Homie struggles on the road
Dario Saric struggled against the Wizards on Thursday, making 1-of-8 from the field for six points with two rebounds and three turnovers in 23 minutes.

Advice: He's mentioned his legs weren't there earlier this week and maybe he's still getting into an NBA routine. Coach Brett Brown is already a big fan of Saric, saying he's very comfortable on long twos, is an intellectual, and capable of establishing a strong rapport with all of the Philly centers. He's going to be inconsistent, but fantasy owners can pounce on The Homie after the high-upside sleepers come off the board. Thursday, 6:52 pm
  • McConnell, Hendo, RoCo, Saric, Embiid start
T.J. McConnell, Gerald Henderson, Robert Covington, Dario Saric and Joel Embiid will start Thursday vs. the Wizards.

Advice: Saric was handed a rest day during Philly's last exhibition game, but he'll be back on the court tonight. With Ben Simmons (foot) out indefinitely, Saric should see an increased role and a healthy amount of minutes for the 76ers this season, making him an alluring late-round target. Thursday, 2:47 pm
  • Schroder, Baze, Korver, Humphries, D12 start
Dennis Schroder, Kent Bazemore, Kyle Korver, Kris Humphries and Dwight Howard will be in the starting lineup for Thursday's preseason game against the Pistons.

Advice: Head coach Mike Budenholzer said that his starters will play a bit more than the 22-23 minutes they played on Monday night, and that trend should continue as we get closer to the regular season. It'll be interesting to see if Schroder can get things going tonight with a more favorable matchup against the Pistons. Thursday, 1:51 pm
  • Josh McRoberts (foot) out Friday vs. Spurs
Josh McRoberts (left foot) is listed as "out" for Friday's preseason game against the Spurs.

Advice: McRoberts continues to rehab from the stress reaction in his left foot, and it's unclear if he'll be ready for opening night. You'd have to be in an insanely deep league to even consider drafting McBob. Thursday, 1:33 pm
  • C.J. Miles (knee) doubtful Friday vs. Orlando
C.J. Miles (left knee) sat out Thursday's practice and is doubtful to suit up for Friday's preseason game against the Magic.

Advice: Miles isn't dealing with anything more than a sore knee, so he should be good to go when the regular season tips. However, his fantasy value is going to be nearly non-existent this season. Thursday, 11:23 am
  • Dario Saric expected to play vs Wizards Thurs
Dario Saric is expected to play against the Wizards on Thursday.

Advice: Saric sat out Tuesday's game against the Grizzlies for rest purposes, so there aren't any injury concerns to worry about here. Saric will see an uptick in minutes while Ben Simmons (foot) is out, and he's worth a look in the second half of fantasy drafts. Thursday, 8:16 am
  • Giannis Antetokounmpo wants to win in MIL
Giannis Antetokounmpo wants to win a championship in Milwaukee.

Advice: Alphabet said he thinks the Bucks have the pieces to build a championship roster and hopes to win (and stay) in Milwaukee for a long time. "I’ve become very attached to Milwaukee," Antetokounmpo said. "The thought that I might not win a championship in my career doesn’t even exist in my mind. I will win at some point! I will do everything to win a championship." The 21-year-old is a triple-double threat on any given night and is worth a first-round pick due to his ability to fill up the stat sheet. Thursday, 6:20 am
  • Patrick Beverley (sore knee) 'feeling better'
Patrick Beverley (sore knee) is reportedly "feeling better" and his status will be clarified later this week.

Advice: Bev didn't travel overseas with the Rockets and the severity of his injury is unclear, but it doesn't sound too serious. His upside is limited as a point guard who shoots a low percentage, doesn't get many assists, and has struggled to stay healthy throughout his career. Wednesday, 10:00 pm
  • Jamal Murray steps up in 25 mins as starter
Nuggets rookie Jamal Murray got the start on Wednesday and responded with 14 points, two 3-pointers, two rebounds, one assist and just one turnover in 25 minutes.

Advice: Murray hit 4-of-9 FGs and 4-of-5 FTs, and his natural scoring ability is obvious. Will Barton could start at SG if Gary Harris (groin) isn't ready for opening night, however, and Murray is much more appealing in keeper/dynasty leagues. Wednesday, 7:46 pm
  • Nikola Jokic fouls out in just 15 minutes
Nikola Jokic fouled out of Wednesday's game in just 15 minutes.

Advice: Jokic scored 11 points in the first quarter but didn't score again, finishing with six boards, two assists and four turnovers. He averaged a reasonable 4.3 fouls per 36 minutes last year, so we'll chalk this up as a learning experience vs. Karl-Anthony Towns and the Wolves. If there's a Nuggets big man who needs to watch his fouls it's Jusuf Nurkic, who committed 6.0 fouls per 36 minutes last year. Wednesday, 7:45 pm
  • Shabazz Muhammad sinks 7-of-10 FGs for 18 pts
Shabazz Muhammad caught fire in the fourth quarter on Wednesday, finishing a 105-88 win vs. the Nuggets with 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting.

Advice: Muhammad had a few rough shooting nights to start the preseason, but he looked great tonight. The former lottery pick attacked the basket and showed improved proficiency from deep -- he sank his only 3-point attempt tonight, making him 3-of-6 from that range in the preseason. Playing time will be the biggest challenge for Muhammad, but he'll be a popular pickup if injuries thin out the Wolves' rotation. Wednesday, 7:44 pm
  • Michael Carter-Williams plays 25 minutes
Michael Carter-Williams (illness) suited up vs. the Pacers and posted 11 points, four rebounds, three assists and one 3-pointer in 25 minutes off the bench.

Advice: MCW's outlook got a bit brighter once Khris Middleton went down, but he's still a deeply flawed fantasy prospect thanks to poor percentages, a lack of 3-pointers, and high turnovers. He's little more than a flier pick in 12-team leagues. Wednesday, 7:23 pm
  • Giannis Antetokounmpo posts 20/6/5 in defeat
Giannis Antetokounmpo notched 20 points, six assists, five rebounds, one block and one 3-pointer in 25 minutes during the Bucks' 101-83 loss on Wednesday.

Advice: Giannis will be a triple-double threat every time he takes the court this season, so get used to these stat-stuffing lines. The absence of Khris Middleton puts even more pressure on Antetokounmpo as the team's de facto leading scorer and point guard, so his usage rate figures to be limitless. Wednesday, 7:21 pm
  • Aaron Brooks (hip) logs 22 minutes off bench
Aaron Brooks (hip) contributed six points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal in 22 minutes off Indy's bench on Wednesday.

Advice: The Pacers went on a 33-10 run in the second quarter to blow the game open, and Brooks won't be playing 20+ minutes this year while Jeff Teague is healthy. The career 41.3 percent shooter is a combined 2-of-14 from the field through two preseason games, without a single made 3-pointer. Wednesday, 7:18 pm
  • Slo-Mo, Mills & Jean-Charles listed starters
Patty Mills, Danny Green, Kyle Anderson, Livio Jean-Charles and LaMarcus Aldridge are listed as the starters on Wednesday.

Advice: That means Pau Gasol could be out, but obviously it's hard to trust the "listed as starters" when it comes to the Spurs. Regardless, this definitely feels like a Kyle Anderson kind of night. Wednesday, 3:14 pm
  • C.J. Miles out, Glenn Robinson likely starts
C.J. Miles (left knee) will not play on Wednesday against the Bucks.

Advice: He was questionable to play after shootaround and the Pacers will just keep him out. Miles should see his role change a little this year with the Pacers wanting to go smaller and faster. He's still not worth drafting. Glenn Robinson should get extended run tonight. Wednesday, 3:07 pm
  • Kawhi, Parker and David Lee out Wednesday
Kawhi Leonard, Tony Parker and David Lee will not play against the Magic on Wednesday.

Advice: It's been a quiet month for Kyle Anderson, but now is his chance. With these three players all resting, Anderson should get minutes in a bunch of different roles tonight. Leonard is an elite option in fantasy. Wednesday, 2:46 pm
  • C.J. Miles (knee) questionable for Wednesday
C.J. Miles (sore left knee) is questionable to play in Wednesday's preseason game against the Bucks.

Advice: Indiana is hopeful that Miles can get on the court for "some minutes" during Wednesday's game, but if there's any question that his knee is at less than 100 percent, you can bet he'll be taking the night off. Miles won't have much fantasy value at all this year operating as Paul George's backup. Wednesday, 9:11 am
  • Pablo Prigioni leaves game w/ shoulder injury
Pablo Prigioni was forced out of Wednesday's preseason game vs. the Pelicans with a strained left shoulder, and he will not return.

Advice: Prigioni took a hard hit from Alexis Ajinca, and that was enough to end the 39-year-old's evening. Prigioni will have a negligible role behind Patrick Beverley this season, so he's not worth drafting in any format. Wednesday, 6:24 am
  • Jerami Grant scores nine in start Tuesday
Jerami Grant scored nine points on 3-of-7 shooting with four rebounds, two assists and one block in 25 minutes vs. the Grizzlies on Tuesday.

Advice: Dario Saric was rested, so Grant drew the start next to Robert Covington. Grant was averaging 13.3 points, 4.0 boards, 4.0 assists and 1.0 blocks in his previous three games, so he has made a strong case to be the first forward off the bench on opening night, assuming the 76ers are done experimenting with Jahlil Okafor and Nerlens Noel at the four. He's a walking highlight reel, but he's just a flier in deeper leagues for now. Tuesday, 7:49 pm
  • Jerami Grant will start at PF vs. Memphis
Jerami Grant will start at power forward for Tuesday's preseason game against the Grizzlies with both Dario Saric (rest) and Nerlens Noel (groin) unavailable.

Advice: Brett Brown said he'll also give Grant some run at small forward for Tuesday's meaningless game. Grant is a high flyer who can rack up the defensive stats when given the minutes, but the addition of Saric will likely make it difficult for Grant to get enough playing time to matter in most formats. Tuesday, 11:16 am
  • Dario Saric will not play Tuesday vs Memphis
Dario Saric (rest) will not play against the Grizzlies on Tuesday.

Advice: Saric will get the night off for rest purposes as the Sixers try to get the rookie ready for his first NBA season. Sario will see extra minutes to start the season with Ben Simmons out (foot) and is worth a look in the second half of fantasy drafts due to his ability to fill up the stat sheet. Tuesday, 10:36 am
  • 76ers hoping Jerami Grant can excel at SF
The 76ers are hoping Jerami Grant can excel at small forward.

Advice: Sixers coach Brett Brown said the Sixers will give grant more minutes at small forward and thinks he can do some damage at the position. "Jerami is a flyer," Brown said. "So you know, you hear us talk about let’s have some pace. Let’s have it with people that can run. It’s easy for me to say we are going to run. You better have people that can do it. He can do it." The 22-year-old still has some wort to do on his shot, but he'll see minutes this season and is worth a late-round pick in deeper leagues. Tuesday, 8:26 am
