  • Quincy Acy (foot) expected to play
Quincy Acy (foot) is expected to play on Wednesday against the Pacers.

Advice: The Mavs are asking him to take some 3-pointers and help space the floor off the bench. He is likely to be behind Dwight Powell for backup power forward minutes tonight. 38 minutes ago
  • Kawhi Leonard wanted to get to the line
Kawhi Leonard studied film this offseason on how to get to the line.

Advice: It obviously showed on Tuesday with the MVP candidate setting a career-high 15 makes. "I’m just starting to feel it and get a rhythm," Leonard said. "As it keeps going, I am getting better at it." Manu Ginobili said Kawhi's new additions are "Harden-like" and the refs seemed to agreed on Tuesday. Leonard is going to be a fantasy monster, but you knew that. Today, 12:52 pm
  • Mike Scott (knee) doesn't practice Wednesday
Mike Scott (left knee) did not participate during Wednesday's practice.

Advice: With the Hawks at full strength, Scott's playing status is largely irrelevant in fantasy hoops. Today, 10:52 am
  • Popovich says Leonard 'more hungry to score'
Gregg Popovich said that Kawhi Leonard is "more confident, more aggressive, [and] more hungry to score than in the past."

Advice: "He basically tells me what he wants to do now," Popovich said of Leonard. "He’ll take the ball. He’ll send the screener away. He’ll decide if he wants to go one-on-one with no screen, no pick. He is much more demonstrative, looks for his shots more. He knows he has a green light." This was made painfully evident when Leonard torched the Warriors' for a career-high 35 points in his regular-season debut on Tuesday, and he looks all setup for another fantastic season as the face of the Spurs franchise. Today, 10:23 am
  • Will Barton expected to start sans Harris
Will Barton will likely start at shooting guard for Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Pelicans, according to Chris Dempsey of the Denver Post.

Advice: Dempsey is a highly reliable source, and he speculates the starting five for Wednesday's game will be Emmanuel Mudiay, Barton, Danilo Gallinari, Nikola Jokic and Jusuf Nurkic. Assuming Barton starts, he'll draw a favorable matchup against New Orleans, so he's on the radar as a potential low-budget DFS play. Wilson Chandler should also be able to see some increased minutes with Harris on the sidelines. Today, 10:00 am
  • Bojan Bogdanovic could start Wednesday?
Kenny Atkinson said he's debating between starting Joe Harris or Bojan Bogdanovic for Wednesday's regular-season opener vs. Boston with Randy Foye (hamstring) unavailable.

Advice: It would be surprising if Atkinson elected to go with Harris over Bogdanovic, but even if Bogdanovic doesn't start, he's sure to see plenty of minutes with Foye on the sidelines. Go ahead and get him active if you're looking for some points and triples. Today, 8:55 am
  • Bazemore shooting for All-Defensive honors
Kent Bazemore said his personal goal for this season is to make the All-Defensive team.

Advice: "I want to be on an All-Defensive team," Bazemore said. "I think, for me, if I do that then the team will be in a great spot." It's a realistic goal for Bazemore, who is an elite defender, and he'll be looking to take another step forward in his development during his age-27 season. At the very least, Bazemore should be able to meet last year's averages of 11.6 points, 5.1 boards, 2.3 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.5 triples per game, which was good enough for seventh-round value in standard 9-cat leagues. Today, 8:42 am
  • Kay Felder expected to be cleared for weekend
The Cavs expect Kay Felder (concussion) to be cleared to play for their upcoming back-to-back set.

Advice: Felder is going through the league mandated concussion protocol testing, but it sounds like there's a decent chance he'll be available for either Friday's game vs. the Raptors or Saturday's game against the Magic. He could get in the rotation if Iman Shumpert (concussion) is unable to play, but most of Shumpert's minutes will fall to DeAndre Liggins. Felder isn't a fantasy option anywhere. Today, 8:16 am
  • Shumpert going through concussion protocol
Iman Shumpert is currently going through the league mandated concussion protocol testing, and there's a chance he could miss Cleveland's next two games.

Advice: The Cavs have a back-to-back set coming up Friday vs. Toronto and Saturday vs. Orlando, but Shumpert will need to pass a series of tests and deemed symptom free if he wants to play this weekend. If he's out, DeAndre Liggins will see some increased minutes as Kyrie Irving's primary backup. Today, 8:11 am
  • Bismack Biyombo (suspension) out Wednesday
Bismack Biyombo (suspension) will be unavailable for the first game of the season.

Advice: This is just a reminder to get Biyombo out of your lineups. Orlando is expected to roll out a starting five of Elfrid Payton, Evan Fournier, Aaron Gordon, Serge Ibaka and Nikola Vucevic for the season opener, and Vucevic should see plenty of minutes with Biyombo unavailable. Today, 7:02 am
  • DeMarcus Cousins says playoffs are the goal
DeMarcus Cousins said that his only goal this season is to get the Kings into the playoffs.

Advice: "I have one goal, that’s playoffs," Cousins told media members on Tuesday before the team boarded a plane for Phoenix. "That’s success for me right now." Through six years of NBA experience, DMC has yet to sniff the playoffs, and it would be surprising to see this Kings team break that trend. Cousins is sure to have another stat stuffing season, but cutting down on the turnovers will be key to improving his value in 9-cat leagues. Today, 6:35 am
  • Klay Thompson struggles with shot in loss
Klay Thompson hit just 5-of-13 shots and only hit one 3-pointer on his way to 11 points, one rebound, two assists, zero steals and zero blocks on Tuesday.

Advice: Ouch. His shot wasn't falling early and it's important to note that he took 13 or fewer shots 18 times last season. There's no reason to panic, but it does make sense that he sees fewer looks this season with Kevin Durant on board. Had he started off a little hotter from the field, his line would have looked better, but this line is a good example of why we were a little down on Klay coming into this season. If it makes you feel better, he started last season off hitting 3-of-8, 4-of-10 and 6-of-12 shots in his first three games. Yesterday, 10:25 pm
  • Draymond Green plays well in ugly loss
Draymond Green scored 18 points with 12 rebounds, six assists, five steals, a block and two 3-pointers

Advice: So much for Dray taking a hit with the arrival of KD, but this was just one game. Regardless of what happens going forward, this is a good reminder that Green has unlimited potential and is one of the best defenders in the league. He was great tonight and will end up being a draft-day steal if he keeps this up for the long haul. Yesterday, 10:05 pm
  • Kawhi Leonard scores career-high 35
Kawhi Leonard hit 10-of-21 shots and 15-of-15 free throws on his way to a career-high 35 points, five rebounds, three assists and five steals in Tuesday's surprising blowout 129-100 win over the Warriors.

Advice: Leonard is a freak and had the ball in his hands on nearly every possession tonight. If you had the No. 7 pick in your draft and ended up with Kawhi, things are sure looking up right now. But just keep in mind that he plays for Gregg Popovich, who may not turn him loose like this on a nightly basis. And now might also be a good time to remind everyone that the Pacers traded Leonard as a rookie - for George Hill. Yesterday, 9:59 pm
  • Evan Turner struggles in debut Tuesday
Evan Turner struggled in his Blazers debut vs. the Jazz on Tuesday, scoring three points on 1-of-7 shooting.

Advice: To his credit, his only make from the field was a crucial jumper late in the fourth quarter, and he did save his stat line with five rebounds, five assists, one steal and one block. Turner saw 26 minutes off the bench compared to 29 for Allen Crabbe, while starting SF Moe Harkless was very quiet in 22 minutes. The depth of the Blazers limits Turner's upside, but he should do enough to hold low-end value in standard leagues. Yesterday, 9:51 pm
  • Moe Harkless goes scoreless in 22 minutes
Moe Harkless was held without a point in Tuesday's game vs. the Jazz, finishing with one rebound, one assist and two steals in 22 minutes.

Advice: He’s not going to lose his starting role with one bad game, but that doesn’t mean his minutes are safe — the Blazers signed both Allen Crabbe and Evan Turner to lucrative long-term deals over the summer and they’re going to find minutes. Harkless is in there for his defense, rebounding and the occasional 3-pointer, but leave him on the wire in standard leagues until further notice. Yesterday, 9:46 pm
  • Lillard drops 39 w/ six dimes, four treys
Damian Lillard led the Blazers to a 113-104 win over the Jazz on Tuesday, scoring 39 points with nine rebounds, six assists and four treys in 35 minutes.

Advice: He said that his personal goal for the season is to take home the MVP trophy, so clearly he means business. Lillard's efficiency is expected to rise this season with a stronger supporting cast around him, and while he did have four turnovers, he shot an impressive 13-of-20 from the field and 9-of-9 from the line. You can sleep easy if you ended up spending a first-round pick on Lillard. Yesterday, 9:30 pm
  • Damian, C.J., Harkless, Aminu, Mason starting
Damian Lillard, C.J. McCollum, Moe Harkless, Al-Farouq Aminu and Mason Plumlee are starting vs. the Jazz on Tuesday.

Advice: Festus Ezeli (knee) is inactive. Harkless earned the starting SF role with a strong finish to the 2015-16 season and he was able to carry that momentum over to the offseason. With that said, Evan Turner and Allen Crabbe will still see significant minutes off the bench. Yesterday, 7:12 pm
  • Shumpert (concussion symptoms) won't return
Iman Shumpert (concussion symptoms) will not return to Tuesday's game vs. the Knicks.

Advice: The Cavaliers are still evaluating him in the locker room, so there could be another update after the game. He finished with two points, two rebounds, three assists and one block in 14 minutes. With Kay Felder (concussion) on the shelf, DeAndre Liggins will take Shumpert's place in the rotation for the remainder of the game. Yesterday, 6:31 pm
  • Iman Shumpert heads to the locker room
Iman Shumpert (undisclosed) left Tuesday's game vs. the Knicks and went back to the locker room.

Advice: He collided with Kristaps Porzingis and it seemed like he was having a tough time standing up on his own. The Cavs may check him for a concussion, but we'll have an update momentarily. Yesterday, 6:22 pm
  • Quincy Acy (foot) questionable for opener
Quincy Acy (right foot) has been downgraded to questionable for opening night.

Advice: Even if he's cleared to play, there are no guarantees he actually steps foot on the court. Yesterday, 12:32 pm
  • Kay Felder (concussion) out for season opener
Kay Felder (concussion) has been ruled out for Cleveland's regular-season opener against New York on Tuesday.

Advice: With Felder out, Kyrie Irving could be forced into heavy minutes with Iman Shumpert earning some extended minutes as his backup. The Cavs are reportedly looking to add another backup point guard to the roster, an indication that Tyronn Lue isn't ready to give meaningful minutes to Cleveland's rookie. Monday, 10:32 am
  • Damian Lillard wants to be the 2017 MVP
Damian Lillard said that his personal goal for the 2016-17 season is to take home the MVP trophy.

Advice: It could be tough for Lillard to take that award this season with the type of year we're expecting from James Harden and Russell Westbrook, but he has seen across-the-board statistical improvement each year he's been in the league, so at the very least he should be in the discussion. Thrillard makes for a fine late-first, early-second round target in any setting. Sunday, 2:02 pm
  • Quincy Acy (foot) expected to play in opener
Quincy Acy (right foot strain) is expected to be ready for Dallas' regular season opener against the Pacers.

Advice: Acy was able to go through half of Sunday's practice, so he should be good to go by Wednesday. That being said, it's unlikely that he'll be in the rotation while the team is healthy, so there's no reason to waste a draft pick on Acy in any setting. Sunday, 11:16 am
  • Kay Felder enters the concussion protocol
Kay Felder has entered the league's concussion protocol.

Advice: This puts his status for opening night in question and it could leave the Cavs with just one point guard in Kyrie Irving. If Felder can't go, we should see Iman Shumpert and possibly Jordan McRae at the one, but it's still too tough to trust them in standard leagues. LeBron James will have additional responsibilities handling the ball. Saturday, 10:59 am
  • Stotts confirms Harkless will start at SF
Coach Terry Stotts confirmed Moe Harkless will start on opening night.

Advice: It seemed obvious with the cohesion of the first unit in the preseason and how it performed last year. Plus, Evan Turner makes more sense off the bench and the same can be said for Allen Crabbe. Still, Harkless is only a flier in 14-team leagues for now. Friday, 10:52 pm
  • Evan Turner misses all eight FGAs
Evan Turner missed all eight shots from the field and made 1-of-2 from the line for one point on Friday, adding two rebounds, three assists and one steal.

Advice: The Warriors dared him to shoot jumpers and it obviously didn't work for Turner. ET's positional flexibility makes him an ideal bench guy to play three or even four positions for coach Terry Stotts. He's really just a three-category guy, so standard league owners should be looking elsewhere. Friday, 10:35 pm
  • Moe Harkless the favorite to start?
Moe Harkless scored five points with four rebounds, two assists and one 3-pointer in 20 minutes on Friday.

Advice: Even though he didn't play well, it looks like Harkless is the heavy favorite to start at small forward. That usually sounds promising, but coach Terry Stotts plays the matchups like nobody else and Harkless won't be heavily involved in the offense. He's not quite worthy of taking in standard drafts. Friday, 10:30 pm
  • Kawhi Leonard has another strong preseason
Kawhi Leonard scored 15 points with four rebounds, two assists, one steal and two 3-pointers in 18 minutes on Friday.

Advice: That's a wrap for his preseason and he obviously dominated. In his five games, Leonard averaged 15.4 points, 5.2 boards, 2.2 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.6 treys in just 22.2 minutes per game. He's an elite option and should be coming off the board in the same neighborhood as Karl-Anthony Towns. Friday, 9:44 pm
  • ESPN: Wolves interested in Iman Shumpert
According to Zach Lowe of ESPN, the Wolves are among "several teams" who are interested in acquiring Iman Shumpert from the Cavaliers.

Advice: Shumpert hasn't lived up to expectations after signing a four-year, $40 million deal prior to last season, as he shot just 37.4 percent from the field and 29.5 percent from deep in 2015-16. The report adds that the Cavs won't salary-dump Shumpert for nothing, though they could significantly improve their tax situation if they find a suitor for the SG. His upside isn't great, so there's no need to stash him. On a side note, Zach LaVine's owners have nothing to worry about. Friday, 7:17 am
  • Bojan Bogdanovic continues to come off bench
Bojan Bogdanovic came off the bench yet again on Thursday, finishing with 12 points, two rebounds, two assists and three 3-pointers in 23 minutes.

Advice: One of the big surprises this month is Bogdanovic did not make a single start in the preseason. While coach Kenny Atkinson did say he wanted to take it easy on him because of the Olympics, so many new pieces on this team makes it hard to believe he would take it to this extreme. Bogey looked like a lock to start, but maybe he launches off the bench. He should still score a ton in the second unit. Thursday, 8:05 pm
  • Bismack Biyombo scores eight off bench
Bismack Biyombo scored eight points in 26 minutes on Thursday, adding eight rebounds and one block.

Advice: The Magic are playing Biyombo next to both Serge Ibaka and Nikola Vucevic, so it looks like he's going to be able to get minutes in the 20s as a backup. If you need blocks and boards late, give The Biz a look. Thursday, 7:50 pm
  • Quincy Acy (foot) ruled out for Friday
Quincy Acy (right foot sprain) will not suit up for Friday's preseason finale against the Nuggets.

Advice: Acy is just going to be an emergency depth guy in Dallas, meaning he's not worth drafting in any setting. Thursday, 11:20 am
  • Damian Lillard scores 27 points in 28 minutes
Damian Lillard lit up the Jazz for 27 points in 28 minutes on Wednesday, finishing 11-of-16 from the field with four 3-pointers.

Advice: Lillard added four boards, two assists and one block with just one turnover, and his offensive fireworks were a nice sight after Sunday's 1-of-10 shooting. He's a popular target at the turn of the first and second rounds in standard leagues. Wednesday, 8:36 pm
  • Evan Turner still adjusting to Stotts' system
Evan Turner is still adjusting to his new teammates and the style of play in Portland.

Advice: "He had a good rhythm," coach Terry Stotts said. "He missed some shots, but Evan is getting more comfortable every game. And we’re getting a little better at figuring out how to put him in better spots. It’s going to be about learning his teammates, getting comfortable with our style of play, all those things." Turner has shot just 33.3 percent from the field through the preseason, but efficiency has never really been one of his strong points. He'll likely come off the bench in Portland, so he's more of a late-round target in deep leagues. Wednesday, 7:44 am
  • DeMarcus Cousins drops 23 points Tuesday
DeMarcus Cousins dropped 23 points against the Clippers on Tuesday in just 26 minutes.

Advice: He was 10-of-17 from the field with eight rebounds, two assists, one steal and three turnovers. His usage rate should be borderline insane just like it was last season, especially since his supporting cast isn't very inspiring. Things could get ugly in a hurry in Sacramento this season and he's going to turn the ball over a ton, so he's more of a second-round target in standard leagues. He's going to post some monster numbers, though. Tuesday, 9:42 pm
  • Will Barton back in action on Tuesday
Will Barton started at shooting guard on Tuesday and could be at that spot on opening night. He hit just 3-of-11 shots and finished with nine points, seven rebounds, four assists, a steal, a block and three turnovers.

Advice: With Gary Harris currently nursing a groin injury, Barton could be the early-season starter, although Harris could easily reclaim the job when he's healthy. Barton had a pleasantly surprising season last year, but Denver's depth could make it tough for him to pull off a repeat performance. But there's enough upside that he's worth a shot in the later rounds of most leagues. Tuesday, 7:55 pm
  • Kent Bazemore scores seven Tuesday
Kent Bazemore's quiet preseason continued on Tuesday vs. New Orleans, as he scored seven points with three rebounds, two assists, one block and one triple in 22 minutes.

Advice: The money stats were nice, but Bazemore has only scored in double digits one time through four preseason games. He will have a similar role this season after averaging 11.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.5 3-pointers in 2015-16, but he tends to fall in drafts and should be available towards the end of the middle rounds. Tuesday, 7:22 pm
  • Bismack Biyombo (rest) out Tuesday vs. Miami
Bismack Biyombo (rest) will not suit up for Tuesday's preseason game against the Heat.

Advice: Nikola Vucevic will likely be picking up most of Biyombo's minutes tonight, with Jeff Green also getting some extended minutes. Biyombo is capable of racking up the boards and blocks in bunches, but his value will be limited as long as he's forced to split minutes with Serge Ibaka and Vucevic. Tuesday, 11:34 am
  • Draymond Green adjusting to new role
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said Draymond Green is adjusting to a new role with Kevin Durant in town.

Advice: "It’s going to be an adjustment for sure," Kerr said. "Draymond may not touch the ball as often because obviously KD will be touching it quite a bit, more than Harrison [Barnes] did. The dynamics change." While Green may not touch the ball as much as he did last year, he'll still have early-round fantasy value due to his ability to fill up the stat sheet in other ways. Tuesday, 9:15 am
  • Bojan Bogdanovic scores 12 off the bench
Bojan Bogdanovic scored 12 points off the bench with two rebounds, two assists and one 3-pointer in 22 minutes vs. the Celtics on Monday.

Advice: Coach Atkinson hasn't committed to a starting lineup for opening night, but he said he's expecting a "big year" from the 27-year-old wing. "I think he’s ready, doing well in practice, shooting the ball well. We’re pushing him to defend better and rebound better." Atkinson added that the reason Bogdanovic's workload has been so limited is because he had a long summer with the Croatian national team. He's still worth a look late if you need points and treys. Monday, 7:43 pm
  • Kay Felder has won the backup PG role
Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue confirmed that Kay Felder has won the backup point guard role.

Advice: "Right now we'll say he's going to be our backup point guard for right now," Lue said. However, Lue also added that the plan for running the offense when Kyrie Irving is out is to "do it by committee," meaning LeBron James and Iman Shumpert will handle the ball as well. Felder has looked great in the preseason and has scored 14 or more points in three out of five games, but his value will be limited while Irving is healthy. Oct 17, 7:33 am
  • Bismack Biyombo grabs 19 boards w/ five swats
Bismack Biyombo racked up seven points, 19 rebounds and five blocks as a starter on Sunday, adding two assists and one steal in 36 minutes.

Advice: Nikola Vucevic was resting tonight so fantasy owners shouldn't read too much into Biyombo's starting gig. It's worth noting that Frank Vogel has played Biyombo and Vuc together at times this preseason, which would be a boon for Biyombo's potential value. He shot just 3-of-10 at the line tonight, worse than usual for the career 55.9 percent shooter, but he's worth a look if you need boards and blocks in the final rounds. Oct 16, 5:50 pm
  • Payton, Fournier, AA, Ibaka, Biyombo starting
Elfrid Payton, Evan Fournier, Aaron Gordon, Serge Ibaka and Bismack Biyombo will start Sunday vs. the Hawks.

Advice: Nikola Vucevic (rest) is getting the night off, so not too much should be read into Biyombo starting over Vuc, although it'll be interesting to see how he can work with the starters. Biyombo's value will be limited to start out the year, but if Vucevic is ever traded, he could easily be a double-double guy as Orlando's starting center. For now, he's only worth a late-round flier for those seeking some help in boards and blocks. Oct 16, 1:28 pm
  • Atkinson hasn't decided on starting lineup
Kenny Atkinson said he's still unsure if Bojan Bogdanovic will be a starter this season.

Advice: Atkinson has brought Bogdanovic off the bench in every single preseason game thus far, but he still has two preseason games to experiment with his starting five. It looks like the position battle between Randy Foye and Bogdanovic is very real, and it does make some sense to bring Bogdanovic off the bench given Brooklyn's lack of scoring options in the second unit. Regardless of how this shakes out, Bogdanovic is the preferable late-round target for those seeking some points and triples. Oct 16, 11:43 am
  • Quincy Acy could miss rest of preseason
Quincy Acy (right ankle) is out of his walking boot, but could be rested for the remainder of the preseason.

Advice: The Mavs don't want to rush him back and it sounds like he could be ready for the season opener. Dwight Powell had a really strong offseason, so Acy may not be in the rotation. Oct 16, 10:55 am
