      Advice: After shooting 6-of-9 from three in the final two games of Minnesota’s second-round series win over Denver, McDaniels stayed hot in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. He made six of his nine attempts from deep against the Mavericks while also leading the Timberwolves in scoring. On a night when Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns combined to score 35 points on 12-of-36 shooting, McDaniels’ performance kept Minnesota within striking distance.       Advice: The Pacers played a terrific game for the majority of the night but made some crucial mistakes in the final minute to allow Boston to sneak away with the win in overtime. The Pacers will be looking to bounce back in Boston for Game 2 Thursday.       Advice: After hitting six 3-pointers in Indiana’s Game 7 win over the Knicks, Haliburton hit six more in the Eastern Conference Finals opener. However, turnovers and a minus-15 margin at the foul line proved costly for the Pacers. Haliburton was only responsible for three of the team’s 21 turnovers, but many of the team’s miscues were unforced. While Indiana can take solace in having a chance to win Game 1 against a well-rested opponent, the truth is that they let this one get away. Although his offensive output can be inconsistent, he has been a little more reliable during the postseason. Coming up against the Mavericks in the Western Conference Finals, McDaniels is going to have to maintain his offensive mindset to contend with the likes of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.       Advice: Minnesota won the final two games of this series after getting blown out in Game 5, and McDaniels’ improved play had much to do with the turnaround. Remove Games 1 and 5, and Haliburton was excellent, properly balancing setting up his teammates and seeking quality looks for himself.       Advice: McConnell was a factor once again Friday, providing the Pacers with a boost on both ends of the floor. He continues to be an underrated piece for Indiana, continuing what has been arguably his best season as a professional. Despite typically playing no more than 20 minutes, McConnell has scored in double digits in five of his past seven games while handing out a combined 45 assists during that period.
