  • Kris Humphries is back at practice
Kris Humphries (hand) was back at practice on Saturday.

Advice: It sounds like he's ready for the opener on Wednesday. Humphries had his stitches out of his hand on Friday, so he shouldn't be limited. With Nene out due to a one-game suspension, Hump and Kevin Seraphin should get minutes. Rotoworld.com

  • Cavs not close to extension with Tristan
The Cavs and Tristan Thompson are not close to coming to terms on an extension.

Advice: It sounds like he will be a restricted free agent next summer. Thompson does have a big opportunity in front of him, but he will be coming off the bench. That said, he doesn't have a lot of presence in defensive stats and is inefficient, so we like other people later in drafts. Rotoworld.com

  • Larry Sanders hopes to be ready for opener
Larry Sanders said he hopes to play in the season opener.

Advice: He had a surgery earlier this month and has been going through some non-contact practice. In some of the videos of practice, Sanders worked up a good sweat, so he's a little closer to probable. Like most Bucks stories, this is a guessing game and we still don't even know what his surgery was for. He's worth the risk later in drafts and he should be able to fall to you near 100. • Markieff Morris puts up a nice game in finale
Markieff Morris finished his preseason on a high note with 17 points, six rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block in 24 minutes against the Jazz on Friday.

Advice: He shot 5-of-8 from the field and 7-of-8 from the line, which was nice to see after a mildly disappointing preseason. Obviously, we're not concerned and are expecting him to grow from his top-50 numbers after the break last season. He's a player you'll want to reach for. Rotoworld.com

  • Carmelo says Knicks will struggle w/ triangle
Carmelo Anthony said on Friday the Knicks are"never going to have [the triangle offense] all the way down pat."

Advice: Teammate J.R. Smith has been saying similar things and it seems obvious that the Knicks are going to start slow. Anthony is still going to get his and his slimmed-down frame should help his case for minutes. He's a first round pick in fantasy leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Today, 6:50 am
  • Justin Holiday makes the Warriors
Justin Holiday made the Warriors 15-man roster.

Advice: He had a magnificent summer league with a 29-point game and plenty of highlights, and he finished strong in October to earn the last roster spot. Holiday probably won't be in the rotation, but kudos to a guy who wasn't on a team a month ago. Rotoworld.com
    Today, 6:34 am
  • Warriors waive James Michael McAdoo
Warriors waive F James Michael McAdoo.

Advice: He had a terrific 20-point game on Oct. 16, but was very quiet in the other games. McAdoo will likely be headed to Santa Cruz. Rotoworld.com
    Today, 6:23 am
  • Harrison Barnes not playing well still
Harrison Barnes didn't look great in 24 minutes against the Nuggets with four points, two rebounds and three fouls on Friday.

Advice: He hasn't done anything noteworthy this month and he's likely just going to be a place holder as the starting small forward. Fantasy owners should go with Draymond Green in the later rounds and can leave Barnes on the wire in even 16-team leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 10:29 pm
  • Chris Kaman gets the start next to Ro-Lo
Chris Kaman just missed a double-double in Friday's 99-89 win over the Clippers with 13 points, nine rebounds, two assists and three blocks.

Advice: It's a good sign for his value to see coach Terry Stotts is willing to start him next to Robin Lopez. Kaman has been injury prone and has hasn't played big minutes in a while, so he can be ignored in most leagues. Also, LaMarcus Aldridge (groin) should be ready for the opener. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 10:14 pm
  • Meyers Leonard takes seven treys
Meyers Leonard attempted seven triples and made two of them on his way to 14 points with seven rebounds and one assist in 24 minutes against the Clippers on Friday.

Advice: Yes, this is the same Meyers Leonard who went 0-of-6 from beyond the arc last season, so that's cool. He also hit three triples on Wednesday and is hotter from beyond than arc than most sharpshooters. Hopefully you don't need us to tell you he's not going to be a savior for 3-pointers in your fantasy league. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 10:11 pm
  • Blake Griffin puts up 21 points in 25 minutes
Blake Griffin scored 21 points in 25 minutes against the Blazers on Friday with three rebounds, one steal and one turnover.

Advice: On the down side, he shot just 1-of-3 from the line, which has been a problem in his last four. Griffin did have a positive stretch after the break at the line, so maybe that was a fluke, or maybe not. Still, he's probably going to be the top scorer at power forward and add other stats, as well. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 10:07 pm
  • Julius Randle just misses double-double
Julius Randle continued to get better on Friday with 12 points, nine rebounds, two assists and one steal in 30 minutes.

Advice: He was awful earlier this month, but he's coming around. Randle looked like a superstar at summer league and there is going to be an adjustment period. He could be a nice asset in a couple months, but he's not a great target unless you have sage-like patience. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 9:47 pm
  • Who's the Boss? Ed Davis w/ big double-double
Ed Davis was outstanding in the preseason finale with 15 points, 13 rebounds, four assists and no turnovers in 30 minutes against the Kings.

Advice: He's had a couple bright spots and is going to be in the rotation to start the season. Davis probably won't be a big enough part of the offense on opening night, but any injury to a fellow Laker big man would make him an interesting option. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 9:45 pm
  • Carl Landry has a decent game in 23 mins.
Carl Landry scored eight points with four rebounds, two assists and one turnover in 23 minutes.

Advice: He hasn't been very productive this month and the Kings have a mess at power forward. Reggie Evans miss all six shots from the field with 16 rebounds, three assists and one turnover. Jason Thompson played 18 minutes in his start with two points and three rebounds, and two turnovers. Basically, this situation for most fantasy owners can be summed up in one word: Nope. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 9:38 pm
  • DeMarcus Cousins looks terrific in finale
DeMarcus Cousins had an awesome finish to his preseason on Friday with 21 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two turnovers in 26 minutes.

Advice: While we're not sure he can stay under his goal of less than five technical fouls, we're positive he's going to be a beast in fantasy leagues. Cousins is a threat to be a 20-10 guy with plenty of defense and is worthy of a selection in the first round. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 9:31 pm
  • TJ looks good vs. Spurs
Terrence Jones pulled down 13 rebounds against the Spurs on Friday with 11 points and two blocks in 35 minutes.

Advice: He's had a hot streak here to end the preseason, which is nice after a letdown earlier in the month. Jones was a top-50 guy after the break last season and should see an increased role. He's a fine target in the middle rounds. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 7:41 pm
  • Joakim Noah flirts w/ triple-double on Friday
Joakim Noah logged a preseason-high 32 minutes on Friday, converting them into six points, 17 rebounds, nine assists and three turnovers in a loss to the Wolves.

Advice: Offseason knee surgery and the arrival of Pau Gasol have clouded Noah's fantasy outlook somewhat, but this near triple-double is a reminder that he's still a top-50 fantasy value. His knees haven't been an issue during the preseason and coach Tom Thibodeau is never shy about giving his key players heavy minutes, making Noah a reasonable gamble as a No. 1 center. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 7:38 pm
  • Thaddeus Young fills up stat sheet vs. Bulls
Thaddeus Young had 17 points, two rebounds, five steals and one block in the Wolves' final preseason tune-up on Friday, making 6-of-10 FGs including a 4-of-5 mark from downtown.

Advice: Thad shot 30.8 percent from deep in Philly last year and coach Flip Saunders has been clear that he won't allow players to take low-percentage shots. Young may not launch 3.7 triples per game, in other words, but his starting job and impressive versatility should solidify him as an early-mid round value in an up-tempo Wolves offense. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 7:29 pm
  • Jason Smith scoreless in 17 minutes on Friday
Knicks PF/C Jason Smith went scoreless in 17 minutes of action on Friday, grabbing three rebounds with one turnover and no other stats to his credit.

Advice: Backup center Cole Aldrich (three points, three rebounds in 12 minutes) wasn't too much better in 12 minutes off the bench, and neither guy has staked a convincing claim for a major role this season. Smith is the guy to target if you're rooting around for low-end value, and he at least has some upside due to solid per-minute scoring, rebounding and blocks. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 7:22 pm
  • Carmelo Anthony ends preseason w/ 24-point gm
Carmelo Anthony's preseason ended with a 24-point performance vs. the Raptors, as he made 8-of-17 FGs, 3-of-8 three-pointers, and 5-of-5 FTs in just 28 minutes of action.

Advice: He didn't do much elsewhere tonight, adding one rebound, zero assists, one steal and three turnovers, but Melo finished the preseason strong with 26.0 points in 31.0 minutes over the Knicks' last three exhibitions. There will be growing pains as the Knicks' flawed roster adapts to the triangle offense, but Melo's fantasy value is about as bullet-proof as it comes. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 7:21 pm
  • Chandler Parsons gets 24 points in 15 minutes
Chandler Parsons blew up for 24 points, two 3-pointers, four rebounds, two assists and two steals in just 25 minutes vs. the Magic on Friday.

Advice: He scored 15 points in an explosive third quarter and would have had a bigger night if the Mavs didn't have a convincing lead in the exhibition. Head coach Rick Carlisle criticized Parsons for being a few pounds above his ideal weight earlier in the preseason, but he's fit and ready for a big season in a featured offensive role with the Mavs. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 6:46 pm
  • Dirk Nowitzki scores 16 points, hits four 3s
Dirk Nowitzki scored 16 points with four 3-pointers, four rebounds and three assists in just 23 minutes on Friday, helping Dallas conclude their preseason with a road victory.

Advice: Dirk enters the regular season healthy, which is the crux of his fantasy outlook. He may not match last year's first-round value now that Chandler Parsons is taking on some of the offensive load, but the 36-year-old Nowitzki only needs 32 minutes a game to post top-25 value. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 6:45 pm
  • Derrick Favors (sore knee) out for Friday
Derrick Favors will not play on Friday due to left knee soreness.

Advice: He's only missed one game due to knee problems and that was back in 2012, so we're not concerned. Favors was a beast in his last five preseason games, averaging 13.0 points, 8.4 boards, 1.6 assists, 1.2 blocks and 0.6 steals in just 24.0 minutes. We still love him as a player to target in the late-early rounds. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 4:25 pm
  • Kris Humphries gets the stitches out
Kris Humphries (hand) had the stitches removed on Friday and hasn't tested his hand yet.

Advice: He sounds like he could be ready for the regular season and the Wizards will need him with Nene suspended for the opener. Humphries and Kevin Seraphin would get most of the minutes next to Marcin Gortat. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 1:37 pm
  • Jason Smith the starting power forward?
Coach Derek Fisher hinted Jason Smith will start at power forward on opening night.

Advice: He'd likely join Jose Calderon, Iman Shumpert, Carmelo Anthony and Samuel Dalembert. These guys haven't had any minutes together in the preseason and Quincy Acy could still get the nod. That said, there's no reason to add either guy in most fantasy leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 1:17 pm
  • Larry Sanders has non-contact practice Friday
Larry Sanders went through a non-contact practice on Friday.

Advice: He said he "thinks" he'll be ready for the opener, which doesn't sound too encouraging. Sanders had an undisclosed minor surgery last week and the Bucks continue to keep secrets from the basketball world. He's worth a look late for his upside in blocks as long as you're not passing on better late-round prospects. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 12:49 pm
  • Nets pickup team option on Mason Plumlee
The Nets have picked up their team option on Mason Plumlee.

Advice: Plumlee is a nice fantasy asset to own while Brook Lopez is on the sidelines. However, when Brook is healthy Plumlee will struggle to find consistent minutes. He's worth a late-round flier in standard leagues, but would probably be served best on the team that drafts Lopez. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 11:26 am
  • Tristan Thompson will come off the bench
Tristan Thompson will begin the 2014-15 season coming off the bench for the Cavs.

Advice: Destined for a reserve role, Thompson will enter the 2014-15 season as more of a deep league asset. However, current starting center Anderson Varejao is about as injury prone as they come, so if/when Varejao goes down with an injury, Thompson will gain standard league relevancy as the teams' starting center. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 10:35 am
  • Marcus Morris playing well through preseason
Marcus Morris has been playing well through the preseason, and he's been the Suns' best 3-point shooter going 8-of-19 from beyond the arc.

Advice: "It's good to see Marcus very confident when he gets an open 3," Suns coach Jeff Hornacek said. "He's done a nice job rebounding. He obviously worked hard in the summer on things. We're going to need him." Morris will be the teams' starting small forward for the first three games of the season as P.J. Tucker will be serving a suspension, but depending on how he plays, he could end up supplanting Tucker in the starting lineup. Morris is deserving of a late-round flier for owners seeking some 3-point shooting, and he could be a steal if he nabs the starting job. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 10:20 am
  • Jason Smith looks like starting PF for Knicks
Jason Smith will draw another start at power forward for the Knicks on Friday, and head coach Derek Fisher indicated that he will remain there for opening night.

Advice: Smith appears to have beat out Quincy Acy (wrist), Andre Bargnani (hamstring), and Amare Stoudemire for the starting power forward job. Fisher would like to use Amare in a sixth man role, and with Acy and Bargnani not fully healthy, Smith will get the nod with the starting unit. However, with career averages of 6.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 0.7 blocks, Smith doesn't look like someone worth targeting in standard leagues, regardless of his role with the team. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 9:18 am
  • Jae Crowder scores 14 in starting lineup
Jae Crowder scored 14 points against the Pelicans on Thursday with seven rebounds, two assists and one steal.

Advice: He shot just 6-of-15 from the field and will come off the bench for the Mavericks. He will need a lot of things to happen to have fantasy value this season. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 9:08 pm
  • Mavericks sitting everyone on Thursday
Dirk Nowitzki, Chandler Parsons, Tyson Chandler, Monta Ellis, Devin Harris, Jameer Nelson and Brandan Wright are all sitting out against the Pelicans on Thursday.

Advice: Hopefully, Pelicans owner Tom Benson doesn't grab the microphone and apologize to fans while wearing a chicken suit. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 5:49 pm
  • Dirk Nowitzki likely out vs Pelicans Thursday
Dirk Nowitzki will likely sit out the Mavericks preseason game against the Pelicans on Thursday.

Advice: Dirk also acknowledged that the true dress rehearsal for the regular season will be the team's preseason game against the Magic on Friday. "This is my 17th year and usually the last game is the one you play almost regular minutes," he said. Dirk will be reliable fantasy option this upcoming season, but expectations should be tampered as the Mavs are hoping to implement a 'spread the wealth' approach. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 2:17 pm
  • Julius Randle wants to be the next Kobe
Julius Randle told reporters that he wants to be the next Kobe Bryant.

Advice: After a slow start to the preseason, the rookie has turned things around and is thinking big. "People used to tell me I’m going to be the next Shaq," said Randle. "I said, ‘I don’t want to be the next Shaq. I want to be the next Kobe.’ I always dribbled the ball everywhere I went." Randle's fantasy value is limited as he'll play behind Carlos Boozer to start the season, but he's a player to keep an eye on if he's able to able to leapfrog the veteran on the Lakers' depth chart. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 9:07 am
  • Blake Griffin accused of club altercation
Blake Griffin has been accused by a man of attacking a man during an argument over a photo in a Las Vegas nightclub last weekend.

Advice: Griffin has not been charged after a 39-year-old man filed a battery complaint with Las Vegas police saying that the Clippers' star slapped him after an argument surrounding a photo. We'll have to await more news on this situation, but it doesn't sound like anything that should preclude fantasy owners from taking Griffin in the late-first or early-second round of their fantasy drafts. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 7:45 am
  • Blake Griffin returns for 35 points
Blake Griffin came off a day of rest and racked up 35 points, seven rebounds, two steals and no blocks on 14-of-26 shooting on Wednesday.

Advice: Griffin looked great tonight, but didn't block a shot (as usual), and struggled from the line at 7-of-13. His free throw shooting really took a positive jump last season, and while this line doesn't put us in panic mode, it does give us pause. Griffin is going to be a solid late-first, or early-second round pick in all formats. Owners just have to hope tonight's free throw shooting isn't indicative of what's to come. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 10:46 pm
  • Marcus Morris plays well again for Suns
Marcus Morris started at SF again and hit 4-of-9 shots and two 3-pointers for 17 points, eight rebounds, two assists and a block.

Advice: He's been playing as well, if not better, than his brother and is in line to start at least the first three games of the season. P.J. Tucker is suspended for those games, and by the time he returns, it's possible Marcus could have the job full time. And if that happens, it's also not great news for Gerald Green. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 10:29 pm
  • Markieff Morris struggles again in loss
Markieff Morris hit just 3-of-9 shots and no 3-pointers for 12 points, five rebounds, three assists and a steal on Wednesday.

Advice: His preseason hasn't gone quite as we had planned, but we're still on board with Morris. Anthony Tolliver didn't do much tonight and any talk of Morris coming off the bench has been quelled. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 10:27 pm
  • Julius Randle racks up 17 & 8 vs. Blazers
Julius Randle had 17 points, eight rebounds, one steal and no blocks in Wednesday's win over the Blazers.

Advice: The Blazers sat most of their starters and Randle looked good against their bench players. He'll come off the bench for the Lakers, but tonight was a good sign for his fantasy value. Consider him late in your draft, but chances are you can find more of a sure thing to draft. He'll be playing behind Carlos Boozer (who didn't look great tonight) until further notice. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 9:38 pm
  • Chris Kaman scores 12 vs. Lakers
Chris Kaman played through a head injury on Wednesday and hit 5-of-7 shots for 12 points, one rebound, three assists, a steal and two blocks in 23 minutes.

Advice: He started for the Blazers, who rested all their regulars except for Damian Lillard, who played just 17 minutes. Kaman played fairly well against his former team and is having a good preseason, but will likely need an injury from LaMarcus Aldridge or Robin Lopez to make a difference in fantasy. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 9:29 pm
  • Tristan Thompson quiet in 17 minutes
Tristan Thompson had nine points, five rebounds, two steals and zero blocks on 3-of-8 shooting in 17 minutes on Wednesday.

Advice: Anderson Varejao is starting at center and Kevin Love is going to eat up the power forward minutes, but Thompson will see minutes backing up both of them. And once Varejao goes down with an injury (don't kid yourself - it will happen), Thompson could find himself starting at center. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 8:00 pm
  • Carmelo Anthony hits game winner, scores 30
Carmelo Anthony hit the game-winning jumper and got the foul in Wednesday's 103-100 win over the Wizards, scoring 30 points with three rebounds, three assists, three steals and two 3-pointers in 34 minutes.

Advice: He made 11-of-19 from the field and all six shots from the field. Only two of his shots came from within 13 feet and the mid-rangers were dropping. Anthony's shot totals were down, but he's attempted 20.5 per game in his last two. Even if his style does change, he still should fill up the stat sheet enough to warrant a selection at the end of the first round. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 7:26 pm
  • Mason Plumlee double-doubles in loss
Mason Plumlee started and had 15 points, 11 boards, two steals and two blocks on Wednesday.

Advice: He'll be a fine fantasy starter as long as Brook Lopez is out with his foot problem, but once Bro-Lo is back in action, Plumlee may struggle for consistency. Lopez should be ready to go around the start of the season, but if you draft him, taking Plumlee as insurance makes sense. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 7:17 pm
  • Terrence Jones goes off before neck issue
Terrence Jones went to the locker room on Wednesday due to an apparent neck issue and did not return.

Advice: It doesn't sound serious, but we'll keep an eye on it. Jones went off before leaving the game, scoring nine points with eight rebounds, two assists, two steals, four blocks and one 3-pointer. He'll be a key part of the frontcourt rotation and last year's post-break run makes him a terrific target in the middle rounds. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 6:24 pm
  • Jason Smith starting at PF as experiment
Jason Smith will start at power forward against the Wizards on Wednesday.

Advice: It's just an experiment after Quincy Acy started the previous four games. Smith should still get some minutes at center in the rotation, but he's not a fantasy option in most leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 2:55 pm
  • Joakim Noah to wear a brace all season
Joakim Noah (knee) will wear a knee brace all season.

Advice: The team admitted his rehab took longer than expected, but Noah did say this week that he's not dealing with swelling. That could change as the year goes along, so he might need some rest days, which won't be a huge problem for them considering their depth up front. Fantasy owners probably shouldn't be too aggressive in targeting Noah. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 12:08 pm
  • Chris Kaman bitten, tested for concussion
Chris Kaman received three stitches on his head after being accidentally bitten by Nuggets C Timofey Mozgov.

Advice: Kaman said he felt "pretty good" after the game, but the Blazers tested him for a concussion and he's uncertain to play on Wednesday. He isn't holding the bizarre incident against Mozgov, either. "I went back pretty hard and I must've hit him in the chest," Kaman said. "He kind of folded over and his teeth went down on my head." Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 6:14 am
  • Markieff Morris shoots 3-of-10 for seven pts
Markieff Morris struggled in 27 minutes vs. the Lakers, shooting 3-of-10 from the field for seven points, four rebounds and two assists.

Advice: He chipped in one 3-pointer and one steal, and he has plenty of upside thanks to his statistical versatility and a guaranteed starting job. Don't let a few quiet preseason games fool you -- Kieff is poised for a big season. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 10:01 pm
  • Ed Davis impressive off bench vs. Phoenix
Lakers PF Ed Davis came off the bench for 11 points, six rebounds, one assist, two steals and three blocks in 23 spirited minutes vs. the Suns on Tuesday.

Advice: Davis has quickly emerged as coach Byron Scott's preferred backup big man, reducing Robert Sacre to an afterthought. He's worth a flier pick in deep leagues, as he has the potential to average 5+ rebounds and 1+ blocks with low-volume, high-percentage points. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 10:00 pm
  • Terrence Jones struggles again in start
Terrence Jones hit just 2-of-9 shots for seven points, eight rebounds, two steals and zero blocks in 28 minutes and a start on Tuesday.

Advice: He's been highly disappointing this preseason, but at least he started and got the minutes tonight. We still think the starting job is his on opening night, but we have cooled a bit on him. He's struggled thus far and Kevin McHale seems to like Donatas Motiejunas a little too much. But for now, Jones still looks like the starter, and could immediately start playing better once the games count. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 8:10 pm
  • Derrick Favors double-doubles in win
Derrick Favors had 12 points, 15 rebounds and two blocks on 3-of-7 shooting in 29 minutes on Tuesday.

Advice: He hit 6-of-9 free throws and all signs are pointing to big things from Favors this season. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 7:52 pm
  • Morris twins starting for Suns
Both Markieff and Marcus Morris are in the starting lineup for the Suns on Tuesday, along with Goran Dragic, Eric Bledsoe and Miles Plumlee.

Advice: We could see this lineup for the first three games of the regular season with P.J. Tucker suspended. And if Marcus continues to play well alongside his brother, it could stick even after Tucker is ready. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 6:18 pm
  • Blake Griffin, CP3 get the night off
Blake Griffin and Chris Paul will both be rested on Tuesday night.

Advice: Nothing to see here, folks. It's simply a preseason day off. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 6:10 pm
  • Chris Kaman playing well off Blazers bench
Chris Kaman is averaging 10.5 points and 8.0 rebounds in his four games off the bench for Portland this preseason.

Advice: If you're in a deep league that requires you starting two centers, Kaman may be worth a look at the end of your draft. And if Robin Lopez or LaMarcus Aldridge go down at some point, he'll become a must-own player. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 5:04 pm
  • Kris Humphries' stitches not yet removed
The stitches in Kris Humphries' right hand were not removed during his post-surgery checkup on Monday.

Advice: Humphries gashed his hand on the rim during a preseason game, damaging a nerve in his right pinkie finger, and he was given a 3-4 week timetable on Oct. 10. He's very questionable to play in the Wizards' season opener, and Nene will be serving a suspension, so more minutes should be available for DeJuan Blair , Drew Gooden and Kevin Seraphin. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 11:52 am
  • Dirk Nowitzki working on quicker release
Dirk Nowitzki said that he is working on adding a quicker release to his shot.

Advice: As Nowitski enters his 17th NBA season, he'll need to make adjustments to keep playing at a high level and adjusting his shot served as low-hanging fruit. "It wasn't going to be running quicker or jumping higher," Nowitzki said. "So I figured I'd work on something that I can control." While the 36-year-old has consistently returned first-round fantasy value, he's a much safer pick towards the end of the second round or beginning of the third round. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 9:20 am
  • Terrence Jones putting in extra work
Terrence Jones is putting in extra work after practice with Donatas Motiejunas.

Advice: Jones and Motiejunas have assigned themselves a post-practice routine that they hope will take their games to another level this season. "We just put in extra work trying to get better," Jones. "We know the four position is a big role for this team. We're just trying to make sure we're prepared for the end of the season by putting in the extra work. It's something we're going to get used to, being the last ones out." While Jones and Motiejunas are battling for the Rockets starting PF job, both should see enough minutes to warrant a late-round fantasy selection. Rotoworld.com

  • Cousins triple-doubles with turnovers vs. SA
DeMarcus Cousins (Achilles) triple-doubled with turnovers in Monday's preseason loss to the Spurs, scoring 32 points on 12-of-14 shooting with 11 rebounds, four assists, two steals, one block and a whopping 10 turnovers.

Advice: Five of those turnovers were offensive fouls in a quintessential Boogie game tonight. The Spurs rested Tim Duncan and Tiago Splitter (calf) was out, so they had nobody that could even remotely control him. He's going to be a thrill ride this season. His Achilles' injury is not a concern. Rotoworld.com

  • Landry (knee) returns to action on Monday
Carl Landry (knee) returned to action on Monday, scoring 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting (5-of-5 FTs) with seven rebounds and no steals or blocks in 18 minutes.

Advice: This is a Landry line if we've seen one. He'll need to have a bunch more before we recommend to owners that they deal with his fantasy deficient stat-set in standard leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 9:14 pm
  • Chandler Parsons fills it up on Monday
Chandler Parsons was great for the Mavs on Monday with 11 points, four boards, five assists and two 3-pointers in 28 minutes.

Advice: The dimes have really been a big part of his game and he's averaged 4.3 per game over his last four. Of course, Parsons averaged 4.0 per game last year, so this isn't a surprise. His production on the stat sheet is basically made for fantasy, so he shouldn't slip beyond the fourth round. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 8:54 pm
  • Dirk Nowitzki plays 23 minutes on Monday
Dirk Nowitzki returned from a one-game absence with 10 points, five rebounds, two assists, one steal, one block and one 3-pointer on Monday.

Advice: He just got some rest and he's been over his hip injury for over a week. Nowitzki isn't the sexiest pick you can make, but he is a very safe guy to grab at the turn of the second and third rounds. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 8:49 pm
  • Carmelo takes 22 shots after Triange comments
Carmelo Anthony took 22 shots after saying he might shoot less in the Triangle Offense, hitting seven of them for 24 points in the Knicks' 120-107 preseason loss to the Bucks on Monday.

Advice: While it's reasonable that Anthony is compelled to make the extra pass with Derek Fisher and Phil Jackson calling the shots, we'll wait for further proof that he's going to take less shots before adjusting our projections by anything more than a smidge. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 8:48 pm
  • Mason Plumlee flirts with 20-20 in win
Mason Plumlee had a field day against the 76ers on Monday with 20 points, 17 rebounds, one assist, two steals, one block and five turnovers in 30 minutes.

Advice: He shot 8-of-11 from the field and 4-of-12 from the line in an Andre Drummond-like outing. Plumlee is obviously going to benefit in a big way from the Brook Lopez (injury), so fantasy owners missing out on a big man shouldn't be shy about grabbing him near pick No. 100 for the short term and perhaps more. Monday, 8:12 pm
  • Thompson looks like he's coming off the bench
Tristan Thompson came off the bench in Monday's preseason game against the Bulls, scoring 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting with eight rebounds and two blocks in 24 minutes.

Advice: Hopefully he can keep the blocks up but 0.4 per game last season is probably a better indicator. David Blatt said tonight's game would be run like a regular season game and that probably means Thompson is the swing big backing up both Anderson Varejao and Kevin Love. He has a hard time accumulating value as a big-minute starter, so needless to say this news moves him further into deep league territory. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 7:28 pm
  • Tristan Thompson coming off the bench
Tristan Thompson will come off the bench against the Bulls on Monday.

Advice: He's actually been great so far this preseason, making 20-of-34 from the field and 15-of-19 from the line. Thompson isn't a great foul shooter and only somehow blocked just 0.4 shots per game last season, so fantasy owners shouldn't be too eager to pick him up. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 8:41 am
  • Harrison Barnes plays 24 minutes vs. HOU
Harrison Barnes had another efficient preseason outing on Sunday against the Rockets, making 5-of-7 from the field for 13 points with two boards and one turnover.

Advice: He's shot at least 57 percent from the field in four of his last five games, averaging 9.8 points, 3.0 boards, 1.2 steals, 0.6 blocks and 0.6 triples in that span. It is preseason, so it's tough to get overly excited about Barnes' chances of breaking out. Fantasy owners in standard leagues should be able to do better. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 6:31 am
  • Julius Randle thrives in second-half surge
Lakers rookie PF Julius Randle finished Sunday's game with a strong second half, on his way to eight points, five rebounds and two blocks in just 20 minutes off the bench.

Advice: "[Randle] has a world of talent," coach Byron Scott said after the game. "It’s about [doing it consistently]." Consistency may be hard to come by for Randle, a rookie on a lottery-bound team who has barely played with the team's starting PGs. Although he's a sketchy draft-day value in most fantasy leagues, he's worth keeping an eye on as the season progresses. Rotoworld.com
    Sunday, 9:26 pm
  • Joakim Noah: 'I have no swelling in my knee'
Joakim Noah (knee) started Sunday's game vs. Charlotte and scored four points with seven rebounds and two assists in 24 minutes.

Advice: "I feel a lot better than I did two weeks ago," said Noah, who had offseason knee surgery. "It’s a work in progress, but overall I’m very happy. I have no swelling in my knee and I can keep building." We've repeatedly warned that his scoring and assists may dip this year with Derrick Rose and Pau Gasol leading the offense, but that shouldn't prevent Noah from being a top-50 fantasy option and a low-end No. 1 center. Rotoworld.com
    Sunday, 7:36 pm
  • Mason Plumlee starts and scores six points
Mason Plumlee started during Sunday's historic 44-minute NBA game but only posted six points and four rebounds in 21 minutes.

Advice: He had four turnovers and didn't look comfortable out there. Regardless, Plumlee has a chance to get some major minutes this season with Kevin Garnett fading away and Brook Lopez coming off a major foot injury. He is worth a look as a late-round flier if you are patient. Rotoworld.com
    Sunday, 2:43 pm
  • Kris Humphries (hand) to be examined Monday
Kris Humphries (hand) will have his surgically-repaired hand examined on Monday.

Advice: He is making good progress and we should know more after tomorrow's consultation. He is still expected to be out until late October at the earliest. He is not recommended for standard leagues at the moment. Rotoworld.com
    Sunday, 11:46 am
  • Joakim Noah feeling good physically
Joakim Noah is very happy with where he's at physically, and he's experienced no swelling in his knee.

Advice: Noah isn't going to be asked to do as much this season with Pau Gasol and Derrick Rose helping out with the offense, but he'll still be worthy of an early-round selection. Rotoworld.com
    Sunday, 11:06 am
  • DeMarcus Cousins turns it over nine times
DeMarcus Cousins turned the ball over nine times in 26 minutes on Saturday with 19 points, 12 boards, two blocks and one steal.

Advice: The turnovers were a bit much and he did have 4.0 turnovers per game in limited action before tonight. Cousins is still going to be a monster for fantasy owners and is worth a look at the end of the first round. Rotoworld.com
    Saturday, 10:57 pm
  • Blake Griffin scores 27 points vs. Nuggets
Blake Griffin scored 27 points with five rebounds, one steal and one block in 31 minutes.

Advice: He was 9-of-13 from the line, which has been a bit of a problem in the preseason. Griffin was 3-of-9 on Friday, so hopefully he's just in a funk. His 74 percent from the line after the break might have been a bit of a fluke. Rotoworld.com
    Saturday, 10:36 pm
  • Chandler Parsons (rest) is out on Saturday
Chandler Parsons (rest) is out for Saturday's exhibition game.

Advice: He is going to get some extra rest on Saturday after he finally started to turn it on during the preseason. He is a solid pick in the early-middle rounds as he will see plenty of minutes for an aging Dallas team. Rotoworld.com
    Saturday, 3:35 pm
  • Jae Crowder to get a look at point guard
Coach Rick Carlisle said Jae Crowder will get a look as the third-string point guard on Saturday.

Advice: The Mavericks are resting their team, so Crowder is behind Gal Mekel and Doron Lamb. This probably isn't going to end well. Rotoworld.com
    Saturday, 3:34 pm
  • Mavericks resting just about everyone vs. IND
Dirk Nowitzki, Monta Ellis, Tyson Chandler, Chandler Parsons, Jameer Nelson and Devin Harris are resting against the Pacers.

Advice: Dirk is believed to be fine and he's over his hip injury from earlier this month. Fantasy owners can target him at the turn of the second and third rounds. Rotoworld.com
    Saturday, 3:28 pm
  • Carmelo Anthony expecting fewer shots
Carmelo Anthony said on Saturday that he is expecting to take fewer shots in the triangle offense this season.

Advice: While this may be slightly discouraging to hear, it is too early to buy what Carmelo is saying. He is arguably the most dominant scorer in the game today and we can't see his scoring going down too much on a Knicks team that lacks talent. If anything, we expect his assists to take a slight bump with the emphasis of moving the ball around more. He is easily a first-round target this season. Rotoworld.com
    Saturday, 11:38 am
  • Jason Smith could start for Knicks
Knicks head coach Derek Fisher reiterated that there is still plenty of competition for the starting power forward job and that Jason Smith could be in the mix.

Advice: Although Quincy Acy has started during all of the Knicks' preseason games Fisher said, "Jason Smith has played some good minutes for us the last couple games since he’s been back and there’s no reason why he couldn't maybe crack into that [starting lineup]." If Smith were to earn a starting job his fantasy value would increase by a good margin. Rotoworld.com
    Saturday, 9:57 am
  • Parsons continues to improve
Chandler Parsons' form is finally rounding into shape as the small forward had his best game of the preseason on Friday, posting 19 points, five boards, four assists, and two three-pointers against Cleveland.

Advice: Parsons was criticized by head coach Rick Carlisle for coming into training camp slightly overweight but Parsons and Carlisle have since buried the hatchet and the Mavericks' big off-season signing is starting to fit right in. Parsons should be just as useful as he was last year from a fantasy perspective. Rotoworld.com
    Saturday, 5:36 am
  • Leonard (neck) gets back on the floor
Meyers Leonard (neck) returned to action on Friday, playing nine minutes off the bench with six points, five rebounds and three assists.

Advice: Leonard is a man without a role for the Blazers these days. With Chris Kaman set to get backup center minutes he's trying to morph into a stretch four but that's going to be a heavy lift. Fantasy owners can safely ignore him until he shows us something. Rotoworld.com
    Friday, 10:47 pm
  • Thompson double-doubles in start
Tristan Thompson double-doubled in another start on Friday, scoring 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting with 11 rebounds in 30 minutes.

Advice: That's the good news. The bad news is that as usual he didn't do anything else in the box score and outside of points leagues those other categories count too. Kevin Love (neck) was held out tonight so Anderson Varejao (seven points, seven rebounds, three assists, four steals) also started and we did not get much clarity on who will be in the starting lineup on Opening Night. Rotoworld.com
    Friday, 8:49 pm
  • Larry Sanders undergoes minor surgery
Larry Sanders underwent a minor outpatient surgical procedure (undisclosed) on Friday, and will miss the Bucks' three final preseason games.

Advice: He's expected to be ready to go for the Bucks' regular-season opener October 29, so at the moment this seems very minor. Sanders has been playing well throughout the preseason, averaging 10.7 points and 10 rebounds through three games, highlighted by a 15 rebound effort vs. Memphis. Sanders had a disastrous 2013-14 campaign, but his upside in shot blocking makes him worth a gamble in the mid-to-late rounds of standard leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Friday, 2:55 pm
  • DeMarcus Cousins will play on Saturday
DeMarcus Cousins has been dealing with some Achilles tendinitis, but he will play in Saturday's preseason game.

Advice: The fact that DeMarcus will be playing in a meaningless preseason game tells us this Achilles tendinitis will be a non-issue moving forward. Boogie was superb last season with the Kings, averaging career-highs across the board in points (22.7), rebounds (11.7), assists (2.9), and blocks (1.3). With zero competition for minutes, and him again set to be the focal point of the Kings' offense, Cousins makes for an excellent selection towards the end of the first round in standard leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Friday, 1:43 pm
  • Meyers Leonard will play on Friday night
Meyers Leonard (neck) will play against Maccabi Haifa on Friday.

Advice: He suffered a neck injury last week and returned to practice on Wednesday. With Chris Kaman helping off the bench, Leonard is going to have a tough time getting minutes. Rotoworld.com
    Friday, 6:50 am
  • Julius Randle dealing with blisters
Julius Randle was dealing with blisters on his heels in Thursday's game against the Jazz, finishing with four points, one rebound, one assist and one turnover in 11 minutes.

Advice: Coach Byron Scott said Randle could have gone back in and mentioned the rookie has to play "harder for longer." Randle was impressive in summer league, but the transition to the NBA game isn't happening right away. He's not really a target in standard leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 10:10 pm
  • Markieff Morris looks great off the bench
Markieff Morris came off the bench and played 23 minutes against the Spurs on Thursday, making 7-of-10 from the field for 17 points, seven rebounds, one steal and one 3-pointer.

Advice: He hasn't been completely unleashed in the preseason, but the stats have been there in limited playing time. All the pieces are in place for a Markieff breakout after being the 38th-best player in nine-category leagues after the break last season. Plus, that was with Channing Frye around. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 10:04 pm
  • Marcus Morris looks good as starting SF
Marcus Morris scored 14 points with six rebounds, one assist, one steal and two 3-pointers in 25 minutes in the starting lineup on Thursday.

Advice: He is expected to start at small forward on opening night and should have some nice value in the first three games. Fantasy owners can give him a look for short-term value in all leagues and he could provide enough value in 14-team formats. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 9:55 pm
  • Harrison Barnes scores five in start
Harrison Barnes played 35 minutes in the starting lineup against the Nuggets on Thursday, making just 2-of-8 from the field for five points with five rebounds, one assist and two steals.

Advice: He's the favorite to start for the Warriors, but that doesn't necessarily mean he'll have fantasy value. Fantasy owners are much better off grabbing Draymond Green later in their drafts. Green and nine points, four rebounds and one assist in 26 minutes. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 9:22 pm
  • Joakim Noah plays 27 minutes on Thursday
Joakim Noah played 27 minutes against the Hawks on Thursday with seven points, 13 boards, four assists, one steal and three blocks.

Advice: His knee soreness seems to be behind him and he was active under the basket tonight. Noah is not going to be asked to do nearly as much, so fantasy owners shouldn't be expecting him to be a top-20 guy again. Plus, he did have some injuries before his big 2013-14 season. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 8:46 pm
  • Marcus Morris likely to start on opening nite
Marcus Morris is expected to start at small forward on opening night.

Advice: It will only be temporary with P.J. Tucker suspended for the first three games. Morris can play both forward positions and should get minutes in the low 20s even while the team is at 100 percent. He'll be an interesting plug-n-play option on opening night after owning the Lakers last season. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 4:01 pm
  • Sanders (illness) not traveling with the team
Larry Sanders (illness) will not be making the trip to Iowa and New York City.

Advice: Sanders has been performing well so far this preseason, so hopefully his absence is just a precaution. He could be a mid-to-late round steal with his proficiency in shot blocking and grabbing boards. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 11:55 am
  • Dirk Nowitzki favors shortened NBA season
Dirk Nowitzki would like to see the NBA regular season schedule trimmed from 82 games.

Advice: Piggybacking on comments by Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra, Dirk said he thinks the regular season schedule should be cut to the "mid-60s." Nowitzki then added his biggest issue is back-to-backs, "Honestly, I never was a big fan of back-to-backs even when I was 20 years old. I think that you should never have to play at the highest level there is two consecutive nights and flying in between." While his suggestion would go a long way towards helping the 36-year-old, he's still worth a late-second, early-third round draft pick in standard fantasy leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 7:40 am
  • Tristan Thompson over his shoulder injury
Tristan Thompson returned to action from a sore shoulder on Wednesday and hit 3-of-6 shots for six points, nine rebounds and two assists in 26 minutes.

Advice: He's going to see a lot of minutes at power forward and especially center, if Anderson Varejao can't stay healthy. He's worth a late draft pick even if coming off the bench. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 9:29 pm
  • Tristan Thompson (shoulder) will play Wed.
Tristan Thompson (shoulder) will play on Wednesday night.

Advice: He had a minor shoulder injury keep him out of the lineup on Tuesday. Thompson is expected to start at center this season, but he's one of the most inefficient players in the league and will really need to post some eye-popping stats to become a top-100 player. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 3:20 pm
  • Meyers Leonard back at practice
Meyers Leonard (neck) returned to practice on Wednesday.

Advice: He was able to take on contact in his first action of the week. Leonard hasn't quite lived up to being a first-round pick and will need a few things to happen to get regular playing time. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 1:02 pm
  • Myers confirms talk of Barnes as starter
General manager Bob Myers confirmed that Harrison Barnes could be the starting small forward.

Advice: "It's a possibility," Myers said. It's become more and more likely that Barnes starts for the Warriors, which is risky after a massive letdown in his sophomore season. He still isn't going to be worth drafting in most leagues until proven otherwise. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 12:05 pm
  • Larry Sanders still out with the flu
Larry Sanders (illness) did not practice on Wednesday.

Advice: He missed Monday due to this illness and should be back on the practice court soon. Sanders was actually playing well so far this season, so fantasy owners can grab him late to bolster their blocks. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 11:46 am
  • DeMarcus Cousins rested w/ Achilles soreness
DeMarcus Cousins sat out Wednesday's game due to "bilateral Achilles soreness," but the injury is not considered serious.

Advice: This was really just a maintenance day for Cousins before the Kings' long flight home from Beijing, where they played the Nets in a preseason exhibition. Achilles injuries are typically a red flag but unless another report emerges this shouldn't impact DMC's season outlook. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 10:44 am
  • Carl Landry (knee) barely plays vs. Brooklyn
Carl Landry started Wednesday's exhibition in Beijing but only played five minutes in the Kings' overtime loss to the Nets.

Advice: Landry isn't big enough to defend Brook Lopez in the paint and he's not mobile enough to chase Mirza Teletovic off the 3-point line, so this was a dreadful matchup for him. That will be the case on plenty of nights this season, and his likely backup role is one of many reasons to avoid him. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 8:14 am
  • Mason Plumlee scores 18 points off bench
Mason Plumlee came off Brooklyn's bench to score 18 points in 25 minutes vs. the Kings on Wednesday, making 7-of-10 FGs and 4-of-5 FTs.

Advice: Plumlee added five rebounds, one assist and one steal, but he also turned the ball over four times without blocking any shots. Owners in need of a cheap big-man should keep an eye on Plumlee, who should only build on his numbers after the All-Star break -- 9.1 points on 68 percent shooting, 6.0 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.8 blocks in just 22 minutes per contest. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 8:13 am
  • Terrence Jones quiet again, bangs elbow
Terrence Jones struggled again on Tuesday, going for five points, two rebounds and a steal on 2-of-6 shooting in 18 minutes.

Advice: He also suffered a right elbow injury after a collision with Ish Smith, but played through it with a wrap on his elbow. He's been highly disappointing thus far, but did have 18 points on Monday. He's still not a lock to win the starting PF job in Houston, but we are still leaning that way. Donatas Motiejunas appears to be his main competition for the job and had nine points, one rebound and a 3-pointer on 2-of-8 shooting. Stay tuned. Rotoworld.com
