      T.J. McConnell shot 9-of-16 from the field in Monday’s 121-117 loss to the Knicks, scoring 18 points with one rebound, three assists, and three steals in 22 minutes.

      Advice: With Tyrese Haliburton struggling in Monday’s series opener, McConnell stepped up to lead a bench unit that combined to score 46 points. The veteran point guard scored 20 points in Indiana’s Game 6 win over Milwaukee, so his ability to punish the Knicks is unsurprising. Also reaching double figures off the bench was former Knick Obi Toppin, who tallied 12 points, six rebounds, three assists, one block, and two 3-pointers in 19 minutes. Add Isaiah Jackson (8/5/1/0/3) and Ben Sheppard (8/2/2 with two 3-pointers), and the Pacers’ reserves played well enough to win Game 1.     • Shines off bench in Game 1 loss
      McConnell finished with 18 points (9-16 FG, 0-1 3Pt), three assists, three steals and one rebound over 22 minutes in Monday's 121-117 loss to New York in Game 1 of the second round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.

      Advice: McConnell provided a much-needed spark off the Pacers bench with the below-average offensive showing by Indiana's starting guards, leading all bench players in scoring while adding a trio of steals and assists in a balanced showing on the second unit. McConnell has been playing some of his best basketball of the postseason in his last two outings, posting at least 18 points and three assists in two straight contests.     • Franz Wagner endures brutal Game 7 performance
      Franz Wagner shot 1-of-13 from the field and 4-of-4 from the foul line in Sunday’s 106-94 loss to the Cavaliers, scoring six points with six rebounds, six assists, one steal, and one blocked shot in 34 minutes.

      Advice: Playing in the biggest game of his brief NBA career, as were many of his Magic teammates, Wagner struggled mightily on Sunday afternoon. He could not make anything happen offensively, missing all five of his 3-point attempts while shooting 1-of-8 from two. Cleveland’s Isaac Okoro certainly deserves some credit for that, but this performance was a severe departure from the norm for Wagner. Based on the Yahoo ADP (66.6), 2023-24 went as expected for Franz, who finished the regular season as a 6th-round player in 8- and 9-cat formats. Sunday wasn’t a good way for him to go out, but Wagner will be one of Orlando’s solid building blocks moving forward.     • Caris LeVert chips in with 15 bench points Sunday
      Caris LeVert accumulated 15 points (5-of-9 FGs, 5-of-7 FTs), five rebounds, four assists, one steal, and one blocked shot in 29 minutes in Sunday’s Game 7 victory over Orlando.

      Advice: Cleveland went into the halftime break trailing by ten (53-43), with LeVert and Donovan Mitchell being why the home team remained within striking distance. LeVert scored 10 of his 15 points in the first half, taking a back seat to Max Strus and Darius Garland (and Mitchell, of course) in the second. While he did score 15 points in Games 3 and 7, LeVert was responsible for 22 total in the other five games.     • Kristaps Porzingis (calf) remains ‘week-to-week’
      Kristaps Porzingis (right soleus strain) said on Saturday that he’s “slowly making progress” in his recovery and hopes to return to game action as soon as possible.

      Advice: Porzingis injured his calf during Boston’s Game 4 win over Miami, a series the Celtics won in five games. He does not have a concrete timeline for return, with it being reported on May 1 by TNT’s Chris Haynes that the 7-foot-3 big is unlikely to play in the second round. Boston still awaits its opponent, as Cleveland hosts Orlando in Game 7 on Sunday.       Advice: Wagner went a perfect 11-of-11 from the line, helping the Magic to an impressive Game 6 victory. It was another strong performance by Wagner, who continues to develop into a key piece for Orlando. Wagner was one of three Magic starters to score at least 20 points, and the stat line shows that he was impactful on both ends of the floor. Game 6 was the second in which the third-year forward surpassed the 20-point mark, with the first being Orlando’s Game 4 triumph (34).       Embiid provided 39 points (12-25 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 13-13 FT), 13 rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal over 40 minutes before fouling out of Thursday's 118-115 loss to the Knicks in Game 6 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.

      Advice: Embiid was clearly not 100 percent healthy throughout the series, and the limitations were more noticeable as the series progressed but still posted outstanding stat lines, scoring 29 or more points in four of the six contests. He also recorded three double-doubles and a triple-double, but he couldn't do the heavy lifting on his own in the games where Tyrese Maxey struggled. Between the Play-In win over the Heat and the first-round series against the Knicks, Embiid averaged 31.6 points, 11.4 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 1.3 blocks across 41.0 minutes per game.       Joel Embiid played 40 minutes in Thursday’s 118-115 loss to the Knicks, tallying 39 points (12-of-25 FGs, 13-of-13 FTs), 13 rebounds, two assists, one steal, one block, and two 3-pointers.

      Advice: While Embiid’s production tailed off during the fourth quarter, last season’s MVP was a warrior in this series. He played through a left knee that did not look fully healed, and a case of Bell’s palsy didn’t help matters, either. Health has been the story throughout Embiid’s career, with availability being the most significant issue. The productivity will be there, so The Process will remain an early first-round pick in most fantasy drafts in the fall. However, the emergence of Victor Wembanyama knocks Embiid down a peg to where he may no longer be a lock to come off the board within the first five picks. Rotoworld Thursday, 9:27 pm
