  • Sasha Kaun retiring from NBA
Sasha Kaun has decided to retire from pro basketball.

Advice: That's 2016 NBA champion Sasha Kaun to you. Kaun was never really in the mix for playing time last year in his only season. He did play just 25 games and was traded to the 76ers on July 15. Rotoworld.com 57 minutes ago
  • Cameron Payne has foot surgery
Cameron Payne had right foot surgery for a Jones fracture.

Advice: The Jones fracture is the same mid-foot fracture Kevin Durant had two seasons ago. Payne had himself a nice Summer League and he should be ready for training camp in October. If the Thunder aren't able to get a deal done with Russell Westbrook, we might see a lot of Payne later in the season. Rotoworld.com Today, 4:44 pm
  • Clippers officially sign vet Raymond Felton
    Clippers sign G Raymond Felton.

Advice: Felton will get the veteran's minimum in Los Angeles, where he'll play behind both Chris Paul and Austin Rivers at the point guard position. Without multiple injuries in the backcourt, there is no fantasy value to be found here. Rotoworld.com Today, 10:58 am
  • Ray McCallum expected to sign with Pistons
Ray McCallum is expected to sign with the Pistons.

Advice: Detroit has been in the market for a third-string point guard, but McCallum would have to beat out Lorenzo Brown in order to take that job. Reggie Jackson and Ish Smith are locked in at No. 1 and No. 2 respectively on the depth chart. There is no fantasy spin here. Rotoworld.com Today, 9:52 am
  • Anderson Varejao (back) headed for exam
Anderson Varejao is traveling to the United States in order to have his back "tested and evaluated."

Advice: Varejao is dealing with back pain, but that's all we really know at this point. If it proves to be a serious issue, Golden State could suddenly be in the market for another backup big man. The Warriors have just rookie Damian Jones behind Varejao and projected starter Zaza Pachulia. Rotoworld.com Today, 9:27 am
  • Langston Galloway comfortable at both G spots
Langston Galloway said he's comfortable playing either guard spot in New Orleans.

Advice: New Orleans has Jrue Holiday, Tim Frazier, Buddy Hield and E'Twaun Moore in the backcourt with Tyreke Evans (knee) expected to begin the season on the shelf, so Galloway could very well wind up seeing minutes at both point guard and shooting guard. Despite the potential path to playing time, Galloway will only arrive on the fantasy radar in standard leagues if there is an injury or two in front of him. Rotoworld.com Today, 8:15 am
  • Jordan Hamilton taking his game to Turkey
Jordan Hamilton has signed with Tofas Bursa in Turkey.

Advice: Hamilton got some run with the the Pelicans late last season after their roster was decimated by injuries, but he's going to have to prove capable of doing something other than scoring if he wants to stick in the NBA. Rotoworld.com Today, 6:56 am
  • Greivis Vasquez may not play in Rio 2016
Greivis Vasquez might not make the final roster for Team Venezuela.

Advice: Venezuela's coach suggested that he didn't put him on the court during Venezuela's most recent exhibition vs. Spain because Vasquez is still "concentrating on getting in shape." Vasquez is fully cleared to play, but he did undergo ankle surgery back in December that cost him 56 games, so perhaps he's not quite 100 percent just yet. Team Venezuela will need to submit their official Olympic roster by Saturday, so we'll have official confirmation on Vasquez's status for Rio at that point. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 1:48 pm
  • Jones chose Pelicans to have larger role
Terrence Jones said he chose to sign with the Pelicans in order to earn a larger role.

Advice: "I wanted an opportunity to play for a team that is young and defining itself, but could still compete right away," Jones said." I wanted a larger role, where I could really compete and help a team win." Jones disappeared in Houston last season, but now he has a fresh start alongside former Kentucky teammate Anthony Davis. "We won a lot of games together and I know what he’s capable of," Jones said of Davis. "We both work well together and we’ve already got a great chemistry and friendship." Jones is only 24 years old and should be able to have a bounce-back campaign if he can stay healthy. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 8:16 am
  • Trey Burke looking forward to a fresh start
Trey Burke is looking forward to a fresh start with the Wizards after falling out of the rotation in Utah last season.

Advice: "It was definitely time for a reset," Burke said. "A lot of the things that happened, I didn’t understand. Just to have an opportunity again, being able to play with an All-Star-caliber point guard in John Wall, I look at it as an opportunity to go deep in the playoffs and win games." Burke should be the primary backup behind John Wall next season, but he likely won't be able to make an impact in standard fantasy leagues while the Wizards are at full strength. • Meyers Leonard will be re-evaluated Aug. 1
Meyers Leonard (shoulder surgery) said he will be re-evaluated on August 1.

Advice: He recently said that he's hoping to be ready in time for the start of the season, but his timetable will likely be updated after his checkup. Leoard did admit that he will be cautious with his return, which makes sense because he just signed a four-year, $41 million deal. Unfortunately for Leonard, minutes won't be easy to find in Portland's frontcourt next season, especially if they re-sign Moe Harkless as well. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 6:35 am
  • James Young could be traded?
James Young could be used as a trade chip for his $1.8 million contract next season.

Advice: Basically, the Celtics could just use that money to make a trade work financially. Young had a bad Summer League and really hasn't played well since he was drafted. A change of scenery would probably be good for Young. Rotoworld.com Saturday, 2:56 pm
  • Meyers Leonard targeting start of season
Meyers Leonard (shoulder surgery) said that he's hoping to be ready around the start of the 2016-17 season.

Advice: "It's a progression, first introducing rebounding, grabbing stuff overhead, then one-on-one, three-on-three, extending to the full court," Leonard said. "We'll see. You just never know." The Blazers won't be in a hurry to rush him back after re-signing him to a four-year deal worth $41 million, and most players tend to be a little too optimistic about timetables anyways. If the Blazers re-sign Moe Harkless, Leonard's outlook for the 2016-17 campaign won't be great with Al-Farouq Aminu expected to play more power forward. Rotoworld.com Saturday, 9:31 am
  • PHX, IND and ATL linked to Thomas Robinson
The Suns, Pacers and Hawks are interested in free agent forward Thomas Robinson according to Amico Hoops.

Advice: We haven't heard much about Robinson this offseason, so his market value is probably pretty low. He did have a nice finish to the 2015-16 season with averages of 14.6 points and 12.3 rebounds in seven starts, but he shot just 44.7 percent from the field and 43.1 percent from the line on the season. Rotoworld.com Saturday, 8:43 am
  • Pelicans sign Tim Frazier
The Pelicans have officially signed Tim Frazier.

Advice: "We were really impressed with how well Tim performed last season," Pelicans GM Dell Demps said. "He stepped into our rotation late in the season and immediately made a positive impact. Tim is a player our coaches want to coach, and our players want to play with him. We are happy to have him back." Frazier had a strong finish to the 2015-16 season, but he won't have much value right out of the gate while Jrue Holiday is healthy. Rotoworld.com Saturday, 7:03 am
  • Pelicans sign Terrence Jones
The Pelicans have officially signed Terrence Jones.

Advice: It's just a one-year deal which will allow Jones to hit the open market again next summer. Jones has some durability concerns and fell out of the rotation in Houston last season, finishing with averages of 8.7 points, 4.2 boards and 0.8 blocks. He does have upside, but fantasy owners will be able to wait until the later rounds to snag him in the hope that he has a bounce-back campaign. If Anthony Davis plays a lot of center next season, there will be a path to minutes for Jones as he competes with Cheick Diallo for playing time. Rotoworld.com Saturday, 6:52 am
  • David Stockton signs 3-year deal
David Stockton has signed a three-year deal with Croatian team Cedevita Zagreb.

Advice: It's unclear if there is an NBA out clause in the deal, but the 25-year-old may not get another shot in the NBA for a long time. Rotoworld.com Saturday, 6:06 am
  • Pelicans sign G Langston Galloway
    Pelicans sign G Langston Galloway.

Advice: The terms of Galloway's deal are currently unavailable, but the 24-year-old will now join the Pelicans as a backup guard. While Galloway has looked good at times during his short NBA career, he's too inconsistent to consider drafting in standard fantasy leagues. Rotoworld.com Thursday, 9:06 am
  • Warriors officially re-sign Anderson Varejao
The Warriors have officially re-signed Anderson Varejao to a one-year contract.

Advice: Varejao was the first player in NBA history to compete for both Finals teams in the same season, and he spent enough time with the Cavs to be eligible to receive a ring from Cleveland. However, after finishing his 2015-16 campaign with Dubs Nation, he will reportedly refuse to accept his Cleveland championship ring. Rotoworld.com Jul 17, 2:42 pm
  • 76ers officially waive Sasha Kaun
The 76ers have officially waived Sasha Kaun.

Advice: This was the plan all along as Philly simply acquired him to dump his salary, and while the 31-year-old will now be free to join a team of his choosing, he may need to go back overseas to earn another contract. Rotoworld.com Jul 17, 2:33 pm
  • James Young on thin ice?
Celtics Summer League coach Jamie Young said he wasn't happy with how James Young played on Wednesday.

Advice: He was on the injury report due to a knee issue, but Young only played seven minutes on Wednesday. The 2014 draft pick has made no progress and has already been leapfrogged by basically every first-round pick since. Young was more of a defense-first guy, but his offense hasn't made any noteworthy improvements. The Celtics might look to deal him. Rotoworld.com Jul 15, 7:43 pm
  • Cavs trade away Sasha Kaun
The Cavs traded Sasha Kaun to the 76ers.

Advice: It's basically just a salary dump to allow the Cavs to sign Chris Andersen. Unless the Cavs are resting guys, Kaun hasn't really been in the rotation. He won't be in the rotation for the 76ers with their current roster. Rotoworld.com Jul 15, 3:38 pm
