  • Nikola Mirotic logs 21 minutes off CHI bench
Nikola Mirotic came off the bench for the short-handed Bulls on Tuesday, making 1-of-5 shots to finish a loss in Denver with four points, seven rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block.

Advice: He played 21 minutes and is a nice fantasy option with Taj Gibson (ankle) and Joakim Noah (eye, knee) both out of commission, though he usually scores more without the defensive stats. Gibson could return Friday and Noah is questionable, so keep in mind that Mirotic isn't guaranteed inflated minutes this week. Rotoworld.com

  • Jimmy Butler's 32 points not enough vs Denver
Jimmy Butler set a new career high with 20 free throw attempts on Tuesday, making 18 of them to finish with 32 points, nine rebounds, one assist and one steal in a loss to the Nuggets.

Advice: Butler has been unbelievable to begin the season, embracing an expanded offensive role without letting up defensively in nearly 40 minutes per game. He's taken a massive leap into top-10 fantasy value and shows no signs of letting up, though his huge workload may take a toll physically as the season progresses. Congratulations to all those owners who snagged Butler in the middle rounds on draft day. Rotoworld.com

  • Danilo Gallinari scores 15 points on Tuesday
Danilo Gallinari scored 15 points on 5-of-9 FGs and 5-of-5 FTs in Tuesday's game, adding five rebounds, three assists and one block in 29 minutes.

Advice: Gallo's minutes have ramped up over the past week and he's averaging 14.0 points and 1.7 triples in his last three games. Wilson Chandler is playing well as Denver's starting SF and there are no guarantees that Gallinari will overtake him, but he has enough upside to be worth a speculative add -- he has enough upside to return top-100 value in a 30-minute bench role, assuming he stays healthy. • Darius Miller invisible as Pelicans' starter
Darius Miller made his first start of the season at SF on Tuesday, but he finished scoreless with zero stats to his credit in 14 minutes of action.

Advice: Tyreke Evans slid over to SG with Eric Gordon (shoulder) out indefinitely, and the early results with Miller at SF speak for themselves. Head coach Monty Williams will likely toy around with his lineups in the coming games, and Miller's fantasy offerings are too limited to reach for him outside of deeper leagues. Rotoworld.com

  • Josh Smith two assists shy of triple-double
Josh Smith fell two assists shy of a triple-double in Tuesday's game, scoring 11 points with 10 boards and eight assists vs. Milwaukee.

Advice: Smoove added one steal and three blocks, and he even made a 3-pointer -- he's now a combined 4-of-21 (19.0 percent) beyond the arc. The bad news is that he was just 4-of-10 from the field and 2-of-10 at the FT line. He's a mid-round value if you can ignore his percentages, but that's not a luxury most fantasy owners have. • Cartier Martin (foot) full of zeroes Tuesday
Cartier Martin (foot) played two minutes in Tuesday's road defeat, failing to score or record any statistics.

Advice: Martin has been slowed by plantar fasciitis and may need a while to regain his conditioning. Even at full strength he's a negligible fantasy option while Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Kyle Singler and Caron Butler are all healthy. Rotoworld.com

  • Luigi Datome (ankle) gets another DNP-CD
Luigi Datome (ankle) didn't leave the Pistons' bench on Tuesday.

  • Klay Thompson scores 24 points in win at Heat
Klay Thompson notched 24 points, three 3-pointers, four rebounds, three assists and one block in an impressive road win in Miami on Tuesday.

Advice: He sank 10-of-19 field goals overall and has now scored 20+ points in five of the Warriors' past seven games. Golden State is on auto-pilot with an offense that's racking up 106.5 points per game, and their 11-2 record has them just half a game behind the Grizzlies (13-2) in the Western Conference. • Paul Pierce passes Jerry West on scoring list
Paul Pierce had 14 points in Tuesday's home loss vs. Atlanta, and in the process he passed Jerry West to become the 17th-leading scorer in NBA history.

Advice: Pierce overtook West with point number 25,194, a testament to his durability as well as his elite scoring ability. The 37-year-old has settled in nicely with the Wizards this year, returning mid-round value with averages of 13.1 points, 1.3 triples, 5.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 0.7 steals per game. Rotoworld.com

  • Kyle Korver scores two points vs. Washington
Kyle Korver had a rough night vs. the Wizards on Tuesday, going 0-of-3 from the field to finish with two points, four rebounds, one assist and four turnovers in 25 minutes.

Advice: Korver is shooting 56.7 percent on 5.5 attempts per game from beyond the arc, which will shatter a few NBA records if he keeps it up all season. Every team's scouting report focuses on never leaving Korver open on the perimeter, so he'll have a few rough games whenever the Hawks can't spring him free with screens and set plays. Stick with him through the droughts and it will pay off richly. Rotoworld.com

  • Perry Jones (knee) still has no timetable
Perry Jones (bruised knee) still doesn't have a return timetable, according to coach Scott Brooks.

Advice: "He hasn’t participated in any parts of practice," Brooks said. "He’s just with our medical staff. Just a normal rehab process for his knee. That’s the only thing I know of right now." Jones has been out three weeks since banging his right knee, and by the time he returns Kevin Durant (foot) should be fully healthy and dominating minutes at SF. If you've been clinging to Jones in a deep league, it's probably time to cut him loose. Rotoworld.com

  • Rudy Gay (Achilles) targeting Friday vs. SA
The Kings are hopeful that Rudy Gay (Achilles) will be able to return for Friday's game vs. the Spurs.

Advice: That means that Gay is not expected to be available for Wednesday's game vs. the Rockets, and we'll be monitoring his status closely. Omri Casspi has slid into the starting lineup with Gay sidelined, and he can be a nice short-term option for owners seeking some 3-point shooting. • Scott may try to shorten Kobe Bryant's PT
Coach Byron Scott said that he may try to trim a couple minutes off Kobe Bryant's current minutes allotment, as Kobe has been struggling with fatigue during the second half of games.

Advice: Kobe is currently averaging 35.7 minutes per game, but is also shooting a career-worst 38.1 percent from the field. Scott is attributing some of those misses to fatigue, and while a minor reduction in minutes would have a minimal impact on Kobe's overall numbers, it could have a positive effect on his field goal percentage. P.J. Hairston (ankle) is being listed as probable for Wednesday's game vs. Portland.

Advice: Hairston could see some extended run with Gary Neal (shoulder) listed as doubtful, and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (foot) out for Wednesday's game. However, Hairston is averaging just 6.0 points and 1.5 three-pointers as a starter, so there's not much to like here. Rotoworld.com

  • Xavier Henry out for season following surgery
Xavier Henry underwent surgery to repair his torn left Achillies on Tuesday morning, and he will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2014-15 season.

Advice: Henry will become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, but after injuries held him to just 43 games last season, and a mere nine this year, he may have a tough time landing his next deal. Henry's 9.5 minutes per game will be distributed to Jordan Clarkson and Wayne Ellington, but neither guy can be considered an attractive option in standard leagues while Kobe Bryant is healthy. • Mike Miller runs w/ starter during practice
Mike Miller ran with the starting unit during Tuesday's practice, but head coach David Blatt hasn't yet made a decision who will start at shooting guard on Wednesday.

Advice: This is something worth watching, as Shawn Marion's status as the starting SG has always been viewed as a short-term experiment. Rookie Joe Harris' name has come up as a potential starter in the past, but his minutes have come down a bit and it appears he's lost some momentum. Miller is a quality 3-point shooter, and LeBron James is a fan of him from their days together in Miami. Owners in standard leagues can use a wait-and-see approach with Miller, but it's certainly a situation worth monitoring. Rotoworld.com

  • Rudy Gay (Achilles) will not play on Tuesday
Rudy Gay (Achilles) will not suit up for Tuesday's game vs. the Pelicans.

Advice: Omri Casspi and Derrick Williams will likely split minutes at small forward tonight, but Casspi is the more alluring option as he's posted a usage rate of 18.8 playing next to Darren Collison, DeMarcus Cousins, and Ben McLemore this season. He's capable of hitting 3-pointers in bunches, and has a favorable matchup tonight vs. the Pelicans, so Casspi could make for a nice plug-and-play option in daily leagues. Rotoworld.com

  • Pelicans likely to start Darius Miller
The Pelicans are expected to start Darius Miller in place of Eric Gordon (shoulder) on Tuesday against the Kings.

Advice: Tyreke Evans will move over to shooting guard, which is a position he thrived in last season. Obviously, Miller is not going to be the main answer here with several DNP-CDs, only 7.3 minutes per game, and 25.0 percent shooting this season. In fact, his big outlier was a 17-minute outing during the Pelicans beatdown of the Wolves 139-91 back on Nov. 14. He's only worth a look in an extremely deep league. Rotoworld.com

Kevin Martin had surgery on his right wrist on Tuesday and will miss the next 6-8 weeks.

Advice: The surgery was successful and Martin should be back on the court for January. The Wolves get Thaddeus Young back and he will likely be a huge part of the offense. LeBron James scored 29 points on 9-of-17 shooting to go along with four rebounds, 11 assists, three steals, and two 3-pointers during Monday's 106-74 win over the Magic.

Advice: That's more like it. After recently saying that he needs to play hard, James backed up his words with one of his better games of the year on Monday. There will be bumps in the road as the Cavs come together as a team, but James' fantasy owners can expect more games like this moving forward. Rotoworld.com

Jimmy Butler scored 25 points on 8-of-16 shooting (1-of-2 from deep, 8-of-9 from the line) with two rebounds, two assists and four steals in Monday's win.

Advice: We keep waiting for Butler's shooting to fall at least a little bit but it just doesn't happen. Playing at a top 10-15 level, he has a heavy lift to stay in that lofty space. Rotoworld.com

  • Mirotic mildly productive in 28 minutes
Nikola Mirotic scored 10 points on 4-of-9 shooting with two threes, five boards and one assist in 28 minutes off the bench on Monday.

Advice: This was the fear in making a big play for Mirotic -- that Pau Gasol would return and negate the opportunity created by Taj Gibson's injury. Tom Thibodeau doesn't sound convinced that Gasol (calf) will play in Denver on Tuesday so there is some hope for another chance, and for what it's worth Joakim Noah played through a minor eye injury tonight. Chandler Parsons scored 16 points on 6-of-13 shooting (including three treys) with three rebounds, one assist, two steals and one block in Monday's loss to the Pacers.

  • Motiejunas nears solid double-double vs. NY
Donatas Motiejunas scored 13 points on 6-of-12 shooting with eight rebounds, one steal, one block and one three in 32 minutes against the Knicks.

Advice: Motie beating up on the Knicks and getting his usually non-existent peripheral stats isn't swinging the pendulum here, but he has been much more productive than he usually is lately. With Terrence Jones (leg) out long-term and Dwight Howard (knee) a question mark at this moment, we're all on the hunt for the beneficiary and right now Kostas Papanikolaou has a much better stat-set to get the job done with. Iman Shumpert hit just 2-of-10 shots in Monday's loss to the Rockets, finishing with seven points, six rebounds, five assists and one steal in 30 foul-plagued minutes.

Advice: Shumpert has injury risk of his own but with plenty of main cogs getting dinged up he's a must-own player for that fact alone. That he already has top-100 value on his own is what owners can hang their hats on as long as he stays healthy. Rotoworld.com

J.R. Smith logged 19 minutes on Monday, scoring eight points on 3-of-6 shooting (including two threes) with three boards, two assists and one steal.

Advice: Smith is worth watching in the event Carmelo Anthony's injuries are more serious rather than less serious, but so far with Anthony traveling to Dallas with the team this isn't close to a run-to-the-wire moment. He was also just 2-of-5 from the free throw line, as the Mavs watched the Rockets race from behind and win the game on a James Harden three-point play. Advice: LBJ said he felt good before the game, and began with a spirited intensity that was sorely lacking in Friday's defeat, but elation gave way to frustration as Cleveland let an early lead slip away. Advice: Coach Byron Scott said he had him rest for heavy legs. "He’s such a workaholic that sometimes it can hurt you more than help you. So I told him ‘I’ll see you Sunday,‘" Scott said. Bryant definitely looked like he needed the rest with he and Nick Young missing their first 12 shots in an embarrassing loss to the Mavericks on Friday. He'll be ready on Sunday against the Nuggets. • Cavs coach worried about 'every single thing'
After the Cavaliers fell to 5-6 with a loss on Friday, coach David Blatt said he's concerned about "every single thing" his team is doing.

Advice: "This is the same team a week ago was scoring 120 points a game," Blatt said. "We’re not a different group of people and we're not a different team. We're just playing in the dark right now." When LeBron James was asked whether any of the Cavs' lineups had found a rhythm this year he quickly replied "No," and it doesn't help that Blatt is experimenting with different rotations on a nightly basis. Kevin Martin (broken right wrist) will be examined in the next few days to determine if his injury requires surgery.

In the meantime, Minnesota will rely more on Mo Williams, Chase Budinger, Corey Brewer, Shabazz Muhammad, Andrew Wiggins and Robbie Hummel. • Jimmy Butler has an overdue dud vs. POR
Jimmy Butler scored nine points with four rebounds, two assists and one steal on 3-of-13 from the field against the Blazers on Friday.

Advice: He's been one of the best players in the NBA this season and obviously gets a pass here. Butler's shot selection wasn't as great tonight, but there is no need to worry thanks to taking much smarter shots throughout the season. He'll likely get it going again on Monday against the Jazz. • Nikola Mirotic erupts w/ 24 points, 11 boards
Nikola Mirotic stepped up with Taj Gibson (ankle) getting hurt against the Blazers on Friday, scoring a career-high 24 points with 11 rebounds, two assists and four 3-pointers in 35 minutes.

Advice: Pau Gasol (calf) did not play tonight and X-rays were negative on Gibson's ankle, so he is not a lock for minutes. That said, Mirotic is capable of blocking shots, hitting treys and turning in good percentages, so it's not a bad idea to add him speculatively in some leagues. To be clear, we wouldn't cut a player you're going to miss. Rotoworld.com

  • Danilo Gallinari has impressive game
Danilo Gallinari made 5-of-7 from the field for 17 points with three rebounds, three assists, one steal, one block and three 3-pointers in 23 minutes against the Pelicans on Friday.

Advice: He entered tonight making just 26.2 percent from the field and he really needed a big game like this one. Gallinari is still a long way from playing close to his career 30.8 minutes per game, which might not even happen. Unless you want to be really aggressive, you can probably keep Gallo on the wire in standard leagues. Rotoworld.com

  • Parsons breaks out of slump against Lakers
Chandler Parsons scored 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting with two threes, two boards and three assists over 29 minutes in Friday's massive win over the Lakers.

Advice: Parsons had a stretch including 5-of-6 games in which he didn't exceed 30 minutes, that also happened to correspond with him getting the flu. He played 37 minutes on Wednesday and that was probably a warning shot to owners that he was ready to get things moving. Rotoworld.com

LeBron James scored 22 points in a loss to the 91-78 loss to the Wizards on Friday to go with four rebounds, four assists, one steal, one block and two 3-pointers in 39 minutes.

Advice: The Cavs are 5-6 and LeBron is below .500 after playing in at least 10 games since the 2007-08 season. The Cavs also had a 76ers-like 82.0 offensive efficiency rating tonight. While everyone is going to overreact, LeBron has been a top-10 player in fantasy leagues despite not even being close to as great as he was last season. Rotoworld.com

Advice: He said he wanted to be more involved in the offense and was the focal point tonight. Smith also was much better with his shot selection and attempted 13 shots in the paint, but he did make only 8-of-19 in his 35 minutes. He's a much better asset in points leagues than in standards. While Martin is sidelined, Corey Brewer will likely slide into the starting lineup, with Chase Budinger, Mo Williams, and Shabazz Muhammad seeing extended minutes. Gerald Henderson will likely draw another start on Friday with Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (foot) also sidelined, and he'll look to bounce-back from a scoreless performance vs. the Pacers on Wednesday. • Josh Smith looking to get more involved
Josh Smith acknowledged that he needs to get more involved in the Pistons' offense after Wednesday's loss to the Suns.

Advice: After saying that the Pistons are getting a little frustrated as a team, Smith spoke about his own problems within the offense. "I've got to figure out ways to get myself involved, whether it's transition or crashing the boards," Smith said before adding that he's struggling, "to find where I belong in the offensive flow of what he's teaching us." Advice: He started off fine making 6-of-11 from the field before halftime, but things turned sour in the second half with miss after miss. Bryant's usage actually dropped to 37.3 after tonight with his 36.8 in the win, but he's still on pace to have one of the highest usage rates ever -- he has the record of 38.7 in 2005-06. Advice: He may have squandered his last real chance here. Motiejunas had his best opportunity of the season with Dwight Howard (knee) and Terrence Jones (leg) out, but his fouls and turnovers were the headline for him tonight. Fantasy owners just can't trust him right now. Rotoworld.com

Advice: Maybe the Knicks didn't want to guard him because they were scared of getting sick. Martin just dropped a 34-point game in his last outing on Saturday and he's one of the hottest shooting guards in the NBA all of the sudden. He's a must-start player right now. Rotoworld.com

Maybe he's headed for SVG's doghouse, or maybe he's just in a slump. Either way, he's not helping fantasy owners this week, but could get it turned around on Friday at Atlanta. Advice: He turned in a 21-point gem on Tuesday night and was on the other end of the spectrum. Chris Copeland played just 27 minutes against the Hornets on Wednesday with six points, two rebounds and two assists.

Advice: His minutes took a significant hit with Rodney Stuckey returning tonight after a 39-minute game in his last outing. Copeland is struggling from the field and has hit just 34.0 percent in his last five, averaging 9.0 points, 3.0 boards, 1.2 assists, 0.4 steals and 1.8 triples in that span. LeBron James hit 6-of-17 shots and two 3-pointers for 15 points, six rebounds, nine assists, a steal, a block and five turnovers in Wednesday's loss to the Spurs.

Advice: Kyrie Irving was better on 7-of-15 shooting and three 3-pointers for 20 points, just two assists, and three steals. LeBron's ball handling is probably going to hurt Irving's assist numbers over the course of the season, along with Kevin Love's rebounding and scoring. Had LeBron limited his TOs and made a few more shots tonight, the Cavs would have beaten the Spurs, but they played solid defense against him. Advice: He did his damage in 36 minutes while starting alongside J.R. Smith, with Carmelo Anthony taking over at PF. Advice: Smith scored 28 points in an expanded role with Iman Shumpert out on Sunday, but he's only scored double-digit points in consecutive games once this season and has been too unreliable for use in most 12-team fantasy leagues. He leads the NBA in scoring at 27.3 points per game despite shooting a mere 37.7 percent from the field prior to tonight's stellar performance. LeBron James is still working on building a relationship with Cavaliers head coach David Blatt.

Advice: James and Blatt had somewhat contrary statements about the Cavs' energy level after Monday's loss to the Nuggets, but we're still only nine games into the regular season so it's not time to send the two to counseling just yet. "Every day we continue to learn each other, as a group, as individuals," James said before the Cavs' loss. "He's an intense guy, very intense guy. Wants to win, wants to do it the right way. • Butler headlines night of big lines for Bulls
Jimmy Butler scored 22 points on 6-of-17 shooting with six rebounds, eight assists, two steals, one three and a 9-of-10 mark from the foul line in Monday's win.

Advice: Butler is returning top-10 fantasy value and it's unclear where his shooting percentages are ultimately going to fall because he has clearly improved. Making an ungodly 80.6 percent from the line on 8.0 attempts per game, we're getting past issues involving small sample size too. The safe play is to sell him high in exchange for a well-positioned top-20 asset, but what fun would that be? Rotoworld.com

  • Mirotic productive with Pau Gasol out
Nikola Mirotic was productive with Pau Gasol (calf) out on Monday, scoring 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting (including a three) with seven rebounds and two assists in 18 minutes.

Advice: Mirotic needs an injury or two in front of him before he has any real fantasy value, but this is a good sign that he may be able to come through if given the chance. Rotoworld.com

  • Motiejnuas can't take advantage of chance
Donatas Motiejunas logged just 18 minutes in Monday's blowout loss, scoring six points on 3-of-8 shooting with two rebounds and one block.

Advice: It's starting to feel like Terrence Jones (leg) will miss another month, and we've included the link to one of many scattered reports that had Rockets play-by-play man Bill Worrell saying that "may" be the case. But Motiejunas has been terrible in most formats this year, and it's more likely that there is no real beneficiary due to Jones' time off. Rotoworld.com

  • Smoove and Monroe disappear in loss
Josh Smith scored seven points on 3-of-7 shooting with zero rebounds, five assists, one steal and one block over 30 minutes in Monday's 107-93 home loss to the Magic.

Advice: Smith is playing like a guy that should be cut in standards, particularly in 9-cat leagues where his 2.4 turnovers per game are an albatross. But he's hitting just 36.8 percent of his shots and theoretically that's supposed to change. And though he might lead the league in airballed free throws this season, he's probably supposed to hit more than 46.7 percent of those, too. We don't want to bury our heads in the sand and say that it's impossible for him to go into a death spiral, but there's a sliver of mid-round upside here so try and cut him some slack. Rotoworld.com

  • LeBron says he was playing through the flu
LeBron James played through the flu in the Cavs' 106-97 home loss to the reeling Nuggets on Monday, scoring 22 points on 8-of-18 shooting with nine rebounds, five assists, two blocks and one 3-pointer in 41 minutes.

Advice: The flu is doubtful to hold him back going forward, especially with the Cavs under increased scrutiny with each passing loss. We're keeping him off the injury report. Rotoworld.com

  • Chandler Parsons hits four treys on Monday
Chandler Parsons got hot against the Hornets on Monday with 17 points, nine rebounds, six assists, one steal and four 3-pointers in 31 minutes.

Advice: His shooting numbers have been down and he came into tonight at just 40.0 percent from the field. Parsons is putting up plenty of stats elsewhere and there has been an upward trend in his stats as the year has gone along. He should be a top-50 player in fantasy leagues. Rotoworld.com

  • P.J. Hairston leaves arena in a boot
P.J. Hairston (ankle) left the arena on Monday with his foot in a walking boot.

Advice: He was ruled out fairly quickly from his ankle sprain, so it would appear he's going to miss some time. Gerald Henderson had a nice game tonight and is worth a look as a short-term guy. Although, his upside isn't very high. He finished with six points and two 3-pointers in 10 minutes. Rotoworld.com

Danilo Gallinari (knee) played just eight minutes on Friday against the Cavs.

  • P.J. Hairston out for game with ankle sprain
P.J. Hairston suffered a sprained right ankle on Monday and will not return.

Advice: The Hornets are awfully thin on the wing now with Gary Neal (concussion) and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (foot) out. Hairston would have played quite a bit off the bench, but now it'll be Gerald Henderson likely getting all the minutes he can handle. Hendo is still only a short-term guy in deep leagues. • James Johnson has a severe ankle sprain
James Johnson (ankle) has a severe ankle sprain and has no timetable to return.

  • Update: Nate and Gallinari will play on Mon.
Nate Robinson and Danilo Gallinari will play against the Cavs on Monday.

Advice: They were ruled out earlier this morning and coach Brian Shaw has changed his tune. There are still way too many concerns about both guys tonight and they are unlikely to play more than half of the game tonight. That said, it's a little harder to be bullish on Arron Afflalo and Wilson Chandler tonight. Rotoworld.com

  • Shaw: Gallo and Nate could play on Monday
Danilo Gallinari and Nate Robinson could play against the Cavs on Monday, according to coach Brian Shaw.

Advice: Interesting. They are not expected to play in back-to-back sets, but the is at least a small chance because of their low minutes on Sunday. Gallinari is still very unlikely to go, so those who were looking to use Wilson Chandler or Arron Afflalo shouldn't be too discouraged. Rotoworld.com

  • Iman Shumpert will test out his hip Tuesday
Iman Shumpert is still feeling soreness in his hip, but he'll test the injury on Tuesday.

Advice: The Knicks play the Bucks on Tuesday, and it sounds as if Shumpert could come down to a game-time call. If Shumpert isn't able to suit up and give it a go, J.R. Smith will see his window of increased value extended ever so slightly. In that scenario, Tim Hardaway should pick up a few minutes as well. Rotoworld.com

  • James Johnson 'tender,' skips practice Monday
James Johnson (ankle) is "tender" and did not participate in Monday's practice.

Advice: Johnson is holding out hope he can prepare in time for the game on Wednesday, but it's unlikely the Raptors will put him out there at less than full strength. The good news is Johnson's ankle injury doesn't appear to be a major concern, but Dwane Casey admitted he has no idea how long the enigmatic forward will be out. If Johnson can't go, Terrence Ross and Amir Johnson could each see a few extra minutes with Landry Fields also picking up some scraps. Rotoworld.com

  • Gallinari, Robinson will not play on Monday
Danilo Gallinari and Nate Robinson will both miss Monday's game against the Cavs.

Advice: Both players are fine, but neither is cleared to play in back-to-back sets just yet. Without Gallinari, Wilson Chandler and Arron Afflalo should be the main beneficiaries, while Robinson's absence will mean the team will lean a little harder on Ty Lawson. Rotoworld.com

  • Derek Fisher credits J.R. Smith's extra work
Derek Fisher credited J.R. Smith for extra work before Sunday's win over the Nuggets.

Advice: 'For J.R. today, it started yesterday,’’ Fisher said. "He had a workout after practice for 10 minutes that was as intense, as hard as an individual player can work in a shooting session that raised his level of intensity and pace of the game today." Smith had 28 points, four rebounds and four assists in what was easily his best game of the season. Rotoworld.com

  • Kobe Bryant defends volume shooting ways
Kobe Bryant defended his volume shooting after the Lakers blowout loss to the Warriors on Sunday.

Advice: Bryant scored 44 points on 34 field goal attempts in just three quarters of action. "This responsibility, it's on me. When things go good, it's us. When things go bad, it's me." Kobe wants to get others involved, but his teammates, almost comically, just wait around and watch Kobe try to make something happen. Jeremy Lin and Carlos Boozer added the balance is currently off, but Kobe isn't being left many options given his underwhelming supporting cast. Rotoworld.com

  • Klay Thompson blocks career-high three shots
Klay Thompson played only 29 minutes in Sunday's easy win vs. the Lakers, but he still finished with 18 points, two 3-pointers, three rebounds, three assists and a career-high three blocks.

Advice: Thompson and Steph Curry are living up to their 'Splash Brothers' nickname, and they're on pace to become the first teammates to average at least 24.0 points per game since Dwyane Wade and LeBron James did it in 2010-11. Thompson himself is averaging career-highs in every single category except rebounds (3.3), and congratulations are in order if you snagged him outside of the top-40 on draft day. Rotoworld.com

  • Kobe Bryant (illness) has 44 pts in ugly loss
Kobe Bryant (illness) poured in a game-high 44 points on 15-of-34 FGs and 11-of-16 FTs in a futile effort vs. the Warriors on Sunday, adding five rebounds and three assists in just 31 minutes.

Advice: Bryant shot a career-worst 1-of-14 from the field in L.A.'s last game, but on Sunday he played like vintage Black Mamba -- the problem is that his teammates didn't follow suit, and their team defense was atrocious. The impending return of Nick Young should ease Kobe's workload, which is good news for the 36-year-old Bryant's durability and FG percentage (currently a career-low 36.7 percent). Rotoworld.com

Advice: Harden salvaged fantasy value with two 3-pointers, nine rebounds, five assists, one steal and one block. He also made 7-of-8 FTs and fantasy owners are soaking up his high-percentage, high-volume FT shooting this season -- he's on pace to attempt more freebies than any guard since Michael Jordan in 1986-87. • J.R. Smith scores 28 points in Knicks win
J.R. Smith had a solid outing on Sunday, scoring 28 points on 10-of-16 shooting to go along with four rebounds, four assists, two steals, two 3-pointers, one block and five turnovers as the Knicks topped the Nuggets.

Advice: Smith was solid on Sunday, but he’s currently averaging 9.6 points, 3.7 assists, and 0.9 three-pointers per game over 26 minutes of action. He got some extended run today with Iman Shumpert (hip) sidelined, but it’s looking like it’ll take injuries to force head coach Derek Fisher to give the defensively challenged Smith consistent minutes. Smith should continue to have some short-term value as long as Shump is unable to go, but he’s not a must-add player in standard leagues. Rotoworld.com

  • Kobe Bryant (illness) expected to play Sunday
Kobe Bryant missed Sunday's shootaround with flu-like symptoms, but coach Byron Scott still expects him to play as the Lakers take on the Warriors.

Advice: "You would have to amputate his leg for him not to play [Sunday]," Lakers coach Byron Scott said. "If he feels 20 percent better than he felt [Saturday] night, he’ll say ‘I’m good.’ I never scratch him out of anything except practice." Coach Scott is expressing a sentiment that the basketball world knows very well, as long as Kobe has two legs to stand on, he will compete on the basketball court. Advice: We are expected to get an update from coach Byron Scott shortly and we will update his status as soon as possible. • Iman Shumpert (hip) is out for Sunday's game
Iman Shumpert (hip) is out for Sunday's game and J.R. Smith will draw the start.

Advice: This is a tough blow for Shump's owners, as he had been playing well so far this season. He isn't expected to miss much time, so J.R. Smith and Tim Hardaway are only options for owners in need of short-term value. Consider Shumpert day-to-day and we will update his status as needed. Rotoworld.com

J.R. Smith will draw the start in place of Iman Shumpert (hip) on Sunday vs. Denver.

Advice: He could see a lot of minutes against Denver with Shump out, while Tim Hardaway will also likely see a lot of minutes off of the bench. Shumpert is not expected to miss much time so Smith and Hardaway should only be considered for owners in need of short-term value, or as a daily plug-and-play. Rotoworld.com

Perry Jones (knee) will not play in Sunday's game, and has yet to return to practice.

Advice: He can't seem to turn the corner and it's a terrible shame considering how good he was early in the season. Jones can be ignored in standard leagues with Kevin Durant (foot) on the way back soon and Lance Thomas and Anthony Morrow will continue to fill the void at SF for the depleted Thunder. Thomas is by no means a consideration in almost any league while Morrow makes for an interesting plug-and-play for his 3-point shooting. Rotoworld.com

Iman Shumpert (hip) is considered doubtful for Sunday's game against Denver.

Advice: He had to leave the game on Friday but the good news was that X-rays were negative. Shumpert could still play Sunday but if he doesn't, expect the Knicks to use a committee approach to fill Shump's minutes with the likes of Shane Larkin and Pablo Prigioni. Klay Thompson knocked down four 3-pointers in Saturday's win vs. Charlotte, finishing with 21 points, five assists, four boards, three steals and one block.

Advice: His contract isn't looking so bad after all as Thompson is showing that he was worth every penny of that $70 million extension. He and Stephen Curry have been arguably the best backcourt in the NBA this season and there are no signs of them slowing down anytime soon. Rotoworld.com
