      Advice: Tatum struggled massively from the field and needed 22 shots to score 18 points, but he compensated for the lack of efficiency with an elite showing on both ends of the court. He ended just one rebound shy of a triple-double, and he also became the third player in team history to record at least 18 points, nine rebounds and 12 assists in an NBA Finals game, joining two franchise legends in Larry Bird and Bob Cousy. His subpar shooting percentages could hurt fantasy managers a bit, but that won't matter much if he continues to put up these elite all-around numbers throughout the rest of the series.       Advice: White will grab most of the headlines following this Game 2 win due to a game-saving block in the dying stages of the fourth quarter when the Mavericks were inching closer to mounting a comeback, and he also made some clutch buckets in the second half every time Dallas posed a threat. White will rarely carry the Celtics on offense, but the little things he does on both ends of the court are essential for the Celtics to be two games away from winning the NBA title.       Derrick White tallied 18 points (6-of-15 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), five rebounds, two assists, three steals, two blocks, and four 3-pointers in 38 minutes in Sunday’s 105-98 win over Dallas.

      Advice: White came up big on both ends of the floor, hitting four of Boston’s 10 3-pointers while also tallying five “stocks” in Game 2. One of his biggest plays was a block of a PJ Washington dunk attempt with a little under one minute remaining and Boston holding a five-point lead. Jaylen Brown, who some argued fouled Washington on the shot, would score a layup on the other end to extend the Celtics’ lead and put the game away. The focus in championship series tends to be on the stars, but White and Jrue Holiday came up big for Boston in the first two games.       Jayson Tatum finished Sunday’s 105-98 win over Dallas with 18 points (6-of-22 FGs, 5-of-6 FTs), nine rebounds, 12 assists, two steals, and one 3-pointer in 45 minutes.

      Advice: After shooting 6-of-16 from the field in Game 1, Tatum was even worse in Game 2. However, he contributed in other areas as the Celtics took a 2-0 series lead. Finishing one rebound shy of a triple-double, Tatum was responsible for 12 of Boston’s 29 assists on the night. And he made some history, becoming the third Celtics player to account for at least 18 points, nine rebounds, and 12 assists in an NBA Finals game (Larry Bird in 1986 and Bob Cousy in 1959). While the Celtics will need their star forward to snap out of this slump, especially if Kristaps Porzingis has to miss time after appearing to aggravate his calf strain, Tatum is capable of impacting the game in other ways.       Advice: With Jayson Tatum struggling from the field, the Celtics needed someone to step up in Game 2. Holiday was that man, as he led the Eastern Conference champions with 26 points on 11-of-14 shooting from the field. This was his first 20-point effort since Game 1 of the conference finals and second of the postseason overall. Also, Holiday recorded his first double-double of these playoffs and a full stat line. The performance marked White's sixth consecutive with at least 13 points and four assists, and he's committed only four total turnovers during this stretch compared to nine steals and 11 blocks.       Advice: In addition to Holiday's solid stats, which included zero turnovers, he was a team-high plus-20. Not only that, but no Mavericks player registered a field-goal attempt while Holiday was the primary defender. While Holiday is expected to play a smaller offensive role than the last time he was in the NBA Finals with the Bucks, he will remain one of the most impactful defenders in this series. He snapped a streak of eight consecutive outings with at least 20 points, but he should remain Boston's go-to player on offense, as well as a strong candidate for a bounce-back effort, in Game 2 on Sunday.       Advice: Making his second NBA Finals appearance, Tatum struggled with inefficiency on Thursday. In addition to shooting below 50% from the field, he was responsible for six of Boston’s 12 turnovers. Tatum averaged 3.3 turnovers per game in Boston’s four-game sweep of the Pacers, and the average has increased by the round in these playoffs. His performance in Game 1 did not weigh down Boston, as Jaylen Brown and Kristaps Porzingis helped pick up the slack, but he will need to be better moving forward. Game 2 is on Sunday night.
