    • Scores 16 points Sunday
Irving accumulated 16 points (7-18 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds and six assists over 41 minutes during Sunday's 105-98 loss to the Celtics in Game 2 of the NBA Finals.

Advice: Irving improved in his shooting percentages and his overall stat line compared to the series opener, but the result was the same, and now the Mavericks are down by two games in the NBA Finals. Irving has had a rough time dealing with the suffocating defense, as Boston has alternated between Jaylen Brown, Jrue Holiday and Derrick White against Irving, and those mismatches have limited his efficiency. Irving has now failed to reach the 20-point mark in three of his last four playoff appearances, and he'll aim to bounce back in Game 3 on Wednesday. Rotowire.com 21 minutes ago

    • Kyrie Irving struggles again, finishes with 16 PTS
Kyrie Irving finished Sunday’s 105-98 loss to the Celtics with 16 points (7-of-18 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), two rebounds, and six assists in 41 minutes.

Advice: After shooting 6-of-19 from the field in Game 1, Irving was slightly more accurate in Game 2. However, Dallas needs more production from him, especially with Luka Doncic continuing to play through multiple injuries. Luka looked worn down during the second half after going off in the first, and this is a spot where one would expect Kyrie to step up. However, he shot 2-of-8 from the field in the second half, scoring six points. Irving has lost his last 12 games against the Celtics, and the Mavericks head home in a 2-0 hole. Game 3 is on Wednesday night. Rotoworld 42 minutes ago

    • No concern regarding calf issue
Coach Joe Mazzulla said after Sunday's win over the Mavericks that he isn't concerned about Porzingis' calf heading into Wednesday's Game 3, Tim Bontemps of ESPN.com reports.

Advice: Porzingis logged 12 points (4-7 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 4-4 FT), four rebounds, two blocks and an assist in 23 minutes during Sunday's victory, but he exited the matchup with 4:40 remaining and didn't return. He appeared to be getting his calf looked at on the team's bench area, but the issue isn't expected to be a concern as the NBA Finals roll on. Rotowire.com 42 minutes ago
    • BOS not concerned about Porzingis’ calf injury
Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla said after Sunday’s Game 2 win over the Mavericks that he has no concern regarding Kristaps Porzingis’ status for Wednesday’s Game 3.

Advice: Porzingis, who returned from a right soleus strain in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, appeared to be laboring during the fourth quarter of Game 2. The 7-foot-3 big man played 23 minutes, finishing with 12 points (4-of-7 FGs, 4-of-4 FTs), four rebounds, one assist, and two blocked shots. According to Mazzulla, Porzingis did not aggravate the calf strain and should be “good” moving forward. Al Horford remained in the starting lineup and played 28 minutes, finishing with five points, seven rebounds, two assists, and one 3-pointer. With Porzingis reportedly limited to 20-25 minutes, expect Mazzulla to stick with Horford as his starting center. Rotoworld 53 minutes ago
    • Coming off bench in Game 2
Porzingis will come off the bench in Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Sunday versus the Mavericks, Malika Andrews of ESPN.com reports.

Advice: Porzingis returned for Game 1 of the NBA Finals after suffering a right soleus strain in Game 4 of the Celtics' opening-round series against the Heat. The 28-year-old left his mark off the bench in Game 1, putting up 20 points, six rebounds and three blocks across 21 minutes in a blowout victory. Al Horford will retain his role in the starting lineup, though his minutes will likely decrease, as Porzingis' role is expected to grow as the Celtics look to take Game 2 at home. • Struggles from field in Game 1
Irving finished with 12 points (6-19 FG, 0-5 3Pt), three rebounds, two assists and two steals across 36 minutes during Thursday's 107-89 loss to the Celtics in Game 1 of the NBA Finals.

Advice: Irving was welcomed by loud boos from the crowd, and that continued every time he touched the ball. The veteran point guard didn't look like himself and had a rough outing, missing all five of his three-point attempts and struggling badly from the field. He'll aim to bounce back in Game 2 on Sunday. Rotowire.com Thursday, 8:49 pm

    • Shines off bench in return
Porzingis closed with 20 points (8-13 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds and three blocks across 21 minutes during Thursday's 107-89 victory over the Mavericks in Game 1 of the NBA Finals.

Advice: Head coach Joe Mazzulla wanted Porzingis to come off the bench in the first game of the Finals, and the star power forward responded admirably in his first taste of competitive action since April 29. It remains to be seen if Porzingis will move to the starting unit for Game 2 on Sunday or if he'll again come off the bench, but either way, his shooting ability and length on defense could be majors factors in the series, as was the case Thursday. • Kristaps Porzingis comes out hot, finishes with 20
Kristaps Porzingis (right soleus strain) finished Thursday’s 107-89 win over Dallas with 20 points (8-of-13 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), six rebounds, three blocks, and two 3-pointers in 21 minutes.

Advice: Appearing in a game for the first time since April 29, Porzingis showed no signs of rust in his NBA Finals debut. The 7-foot-3 big man was elite in the first quarter, tallying 11 points, three rebounds, and three blocked shots. Porzingis did not start on Thursday, with Joe Mazzulla electing to stick with Al Horford. The approach was successful, and Boston not having to extend Porzingis minutes-wise was another positive. Horford played 20 minutes and was productive, finishing with 10 points, seven rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and two 3-pointers. Game 2 is on Sunday night; we’ll see if Mazzulla leaves Porzingis in the sixth-man role or moves him back into the starting lineup. Rotoworld Thursday, 8:08 pm
    • Kyrie Irving goes cold from deep, scores 12 points
Kyrie Irving played 37 minutes in Thursday’s Game 1 loss to the Celtics, tallying 12 points (6-of-19 FGs), three rebounds, two assists, and one steal.

Advice: Playing in the NBA Finals for the first time since his last season with the Cavaliers (2016-17), Irving struggled mightily in Game 1. Not only did he fail to make a 3-pointer, missing all five attempts, but he did not attempt a free throw. Boston outscored Dallas by a 48-21 margin from three, and the Mavericks also struggled from inside the arc. While Dallas needs to be better, beating a team as good as the Celtics with Irving struggling is challenging. He’ll look to bounce back in Game 2 on Sunday. Rotoworld Thursday, 8:03 pm
