      Kristaps Porzingis (right soleus strain) said on Saturday that he’s “slowly making progress” in his recovery and hopes to return to game action as soon as possible.

      Advice: Porzingis injured his calf during Boston’s Game 4 win over Miami, a series the Celtics won in five games. He does not have a concrete timeline for return, with it being reported on May 1 by TNT’s Chris Haynes that the 7-foot-3 big is unlikely to play in the second round. Boston still awaits its opponent, as Cleveland hosts Orlando in Game 7 on Sunday.     • Daniel Gafford scores 13 points in Game 6 victory
      Daniel Gafford shot 5-of-8 from the field and 3-of-3 from the foul line in Friday’s win over the Clippers, amassing 13 points and six rebounds in 22 minutes.

      Advice: Gafford may not record gaudy stat lines, but his addition to the roster has been huge for the Mavericks. Between him and first-round pick Dereck Lively II, Dallas receives what would pass as quality production from the center position. Lively also scored in double figures in the series clincher, tallying 10 points with nine rebounds, three assists, and one steal in 24 minutes off the bench. Gafford and Lively will be critical moving forward, as Thunder rookie Chet Holmgren represents a far different challenge than Ivica Zubac. Oklahoma City will host Game 1 on Tuesday night.       Mitchell finished Friday's 103-96 loss to the Magic in Game 6 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs with 50 points (22-36 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 3-6 FT), four rebounds, four assists and one block in 42 minutes.

      Advice: Mitchell outscored the rest of the Cavaliers roster, dropping 50 points in the loss. He scored all of Cleveland's points in the final quarter.       Donovan Mitchell shot 22-of-36 from the field and 3-of-6 from the foul line in Friday’s 103-96 loss to Orlando, scoring 50 points with four rebounds, four assists, one block, and three 3-pointers in 42 minutes.

      Advice: Playing in a close-out game for the first time in his two seasons with the Cavaliers, Mitchell did his best to carry Cleveland across the finish line. He scored all 18 of the team’s points in the fourth quarter, finishing with a game-high 50. Mitchell has scored 50 or more in three postseason games in his career, with Friday’s effort being his first since Game 4 of a 2020 first-round series against the Nuggets (as a member of the Jazz). However, if Cleveland is to defend home court in Game 7 on Sunday, Mitchell will need more help from Evan Mobley (3/7/0/1/5 in 34 minutes), especially if Jarrett Allen (ribs) cannot play.       Middleton recorded 14 points (6-15 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT), eight rebounds, three assists and two steals over 38 minutes in Thursday's 120-98 loss to Indiana in Game 6 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.

      Advice: Middleton led Milwaukee seemingly on a nightly basis over the course of the first-round series against Indiana, but he was held in check in the series-ending contest Thursday while failing to record 15 points for the only time in the series. Middleton, who dealt with some foul trouble that seemed to impact his performance and aggressiveness in the first half, put together a strong opening-round series, scoring 20 or more points in four of the six contests.     • Khris Middleton limited to 14 points in defeat
      Khris Middleton finished Thursday’s Game 6 loss to the Pacers with 14 points (6-of-16 FGs, 1-of-1 FTs), eight rebounds, three assists, two steals, and one 3-pointer in 37 minutes.

      Advice: While Damian Lillard did return from an Achilles injury, the Bucks were still without Giannis Antetokounmpo. That meant they needed another virtuoso performance from Middleton to keep their season alive, and that didn’t happen. The veteran wing finished with a series-low 14 points as the Pacers sent Milwaukee fishing. As in 2022-23, the inability to remain healthy sapped most of Middleton’s fantasy value this season. Managers expected this, based on Khash Money’s Yahoo ADP of 82.3. While his regular season fantasy value wasn’t terrible, the availability issues proved costly. Middleton finished the year ranked outside the top 100 in 9-cat formats, albeit by a few spots.       Advice: Porzingis sustained a calf injury in Game 4 of Boston's first-round series and was unavailable for Wednesday's Game 5 as the Celtics took down the Heat to advance to the second round. He's been diagnosed with a right soleus strain and was expected to miss several games, and it appears likely that his absence will span the entirety of the second round. However, the Celtics hope that Porzingis will be able to return if the team advances to the Eastern Conference Finals, and the 28-year-old will rest and rehab in the coming days.
