    • Tyrese Maxey tallies 25 points, seven assists
Tyrese Maxey finished Thursday’s Game 3 win over the Knicks with 25 points (9-of-21 FGs, 4-of-4 FTs), four rebounds, seven assists, two steals, and three 3-pointers in 40 minutes.

Advice: After scoring 33 and 35 points in the series’ first two games, Maxey did not shoot the ball as well in Game 3. However, the winner of the NBA’s Most Improved Player award managed turnovers better than he did in the two losses in New York. Maxey committed just one turnover in Game 3 after tallying seven in Games 1 (three) and two (four). Even if the field-goal percentage isn’t always where it should be, Maxey is talented enough to compensate for that with increased production in other areas. Philadelphia will look to even the series at two games apiece on Sunday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:37 pm
    • Efficient despite loss in Game 2
Jones chipped in 18 points (6-9 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds and one assist over 36 minutes during Wednesday's 124-92 loss to the Thunder in Game 2 of the Western Conference first round.

Advice: Jones posted his best performance of the current postseason run, but his efforts were not enough as the Pelicans suffered a 32-point loss and now face an 0-2 deficit in the first-round series. Jones has scored in double digits in just four of his 12 appearances this month, and this 18-point output tied his best scoring mark since posting a 19-point effort against Miami on Feb. 23, so he's not expected to carry the Pelicans on offense in Game 3 on Saturday. • Jarred Vanderbilt (foot) out Thursday vs. Nuggets
Jarred Vanderbilt (right mid-foot sprain) has been ruled out for the Lakers’ Thursday matchup against the Nuggets

Advice: Vanderbilt was aiming for a 2024 playoff debut in Game 3 but isn’t quite ready to make a return. He’ll get another chance to suit up for Game 4 on Saturday and Rui Hachimura will continue to carry a heavy workload during his absence. Rotoworld Wednesday, 5:26 pm
    • Missing Game 3
Vanderbilt (foot) won't play in Thursday's game against the Nuggets, Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Advice: Vanderbilt was highly involved in the Lakers' shootaround Monday and appears to be nearing his first taste of game action since Feb. 1. However, he'll still be inactive for Thursday's Game 3, making Saturday's Game 4 Vanderbilt's next chance to go. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 5:20 pm
    • Used sparingly in win
Exum finished with zero points (0-1 FG), one rebound and one block across six minutes during Tuesday's 96-93 victory over the Clippers in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.

Advice: Exum saw just six minutes off the bench despite an ankle injury to Tim Hardaway. The Mavericks opted to go with size over speed, resulting in an important victory. With so much flexibility across their roster, Exum's role could fluctuate significantly moving forward. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 12:16 am
    • Named Most Improved Player
Maxey was named the 2023-24 Most Improved Player on Tuesday.

Advice: Maxey enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2023-24 after taking over the lead ball-handler role due to the departure of James Harden from Philadelphia. Maxey was able to improve his season averages of 20.3 points, 3.5 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 0.8 steals in 33.6 minutes from 2022-23 to 25.9 points, 6.2 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 37.5 minutes in 2023-24. While the 23-year-old's shooting splits decreased from 48.1/43.4/84.5 to 45.0/37.3/86.8, his jump as a playmaker and volume scorer helped him form one of the NBA's most dynamic duos alongside Joel Embiid. • Tyrese Maxey wins Most Improved Player award
Tyrese Maxey was named the winner of the George Mikan Trophy, emblematic of the NBA’s Most Improved Player.

Advice: There is no surprise here, as Maxey jumped from a solid supplementary option to a bonafide star in his fourth NBA season. Earning his first All-Star Game appearance, the 76ers guard averaged 25.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, 6.2 assists, 1.0 steals, 0.5 blocks, and 3.0 3-pointers per game, shooting 45.0% from the field, 37.3% from three, and 86.8% from the foul line. Maxey is the second 76ers player to win the award, joining Dana Barros (1994-95). Chicago’s Coby White finished second in the voting, with Houston’s Alperen Sengun coming in third. • Records 35/10 double-double in loss
Maxey notched 35 points (12-22 FG, 5-11 3Pt, 6-6 FT), nine rebounds and 10 assists in 44 minutes during Monday's 104-101 loss to the Knicks in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.

Advice: Maxey scored 15 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter and was the primary catalyst in a massive rally that erased the Knicks' lead. His three-pointer with 1:09 remaining appeared to seal a Game 2 win for the Sixers, but New York's defense turned the tables in the end. Although Joel Embiid is rounding back into form, Maxey's production will be essential to get the team back into the series. The Maxey-Embiid duo also needs help from the rest of the supporting cast, who scored only 32 points in the loss. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 4:22 am
    • Report: Jarred Vanderbilt targeting Game 3 return
According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, Jarred Vanderbilt (right mid-foot sprain) targets Thursday’s Game 3 against the Nuggets as his return date.

Advice: Vanderbilt was limited to 29 appearances during the regular season, the last of which occurred on February 1 in a win over the Celtics. He has reportedly been progressing in his recovery, and Thursday’s Game 3 could be when Vanderbilt returns to game action. According to McMenamin, the Lakers forward went through one of his most strenuous workouts on Monday, and the key now is how his body responds in the coming days. Vanderbilt won’t add much offensively, but when healthy, he is one of the Lakers’ best defenders. Rotoworld Monday, 8:06 pm
