  • Will Bynum changes diet to boost energy
Will Bynum has made a big chance to his diet in an effort to boost his overall energy.

Advice: Bynum has abandoned sugar, flour, artificial colorings, and milk as he thinks they dull concentration and sap energy. His new diet now mostly consists of baked chicken, fish, fresh fruits, and vegetables. "Now I'm completely wired all day," he said. "I was already like that, but now it's kind of scary." Bynum will again come off the bench for the Pistons this season and doesn't warrant any fantasy attention outside of deep leagues. Rotoworld.com

  • LeBron calls Kyrie Irving best PG in the NBA
LeBron James recently said that Kyrie Irving is the best point guard in the NBA.

Advice: "It's part of the reason I came back," LeBron told SLAM Magazine. "I think he can be the best point guard in our league." It's possible that LeBron is just pumping up his new teammate, but it's also possible that his opinion was swayed by Irving's recent strong play at the FIBA World Cup of Basketball. Irving averaged 20.8 points, 6.1 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.7 three-pointers a game with the Cavs last season on 43.0 percent shooting from the field, but his fantasy value may take a hit this season as the addition of LeBron and Kevin Love will bring down his usage rate. • Jordan Crawford headed to China for 2014-15
Jordan Crawford has agreed to a contract with the Xinjiang Flying Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association.

Advice: This is an interesting move for a player who averaged 13.7 points and 5.7 assists through 39 games last season, but the 25-year-old wasn't receiving more than veteran minimum offers from NBA teams. While Crawford may end up returning to the NBA after the CBA season ends in February, he doesn't need to be on fantasy radars entering 2014-15 drafts. Rotoworld.com

  • Twolves still non-committal on Wiggins
Coach Flip Saunders was non-committal when asked about Andrew Wiggins starting.

Advice: He's expected to start and push Corey Brewer to the bench. The Wolves don't really have much scoring in their starting lineup, so they will need someone like Wiggins. He's a risky mid-round fantasy pick with upside. Rotoworld.com

  • Ryan Hollins signs with the Kings
Ryan Hollins agreed to a one-year deal with the Kings on Wednesday.

Advice: It's a fully guaranteed deal, so he should make the 15-man roster. Hollins probably won't crack the rotation, but it's certainly possible given the sub-par performances the Kings have gotten out of their power forwards. Rotoworld.com

  • J.J. Hickson receives five game suspension
J.J. Hickson received a five game suspension for violating the NBA's drug policy.

Advice: It's for marijuana and he will not be paid for those games. Hickson is recovering from ACL surgery and is hoping to be ready for training camp. With Hickson out, Kenneth Faired will get all the minutes he can handle while JaVale McGee and Timofey Mozgov will hold down the center spot. Hickson is not worth drafting in most leagues. • Brandon Jennings admits 2013-14 was his worst
Brandon Jennings said that the 2013-14 season was his "worst year" in the NBA, but he's been in the gym for the past few weeks and is eager for a fresh start under coach Stan Van Gundy.

Advice: "The fractured jaw, losing weight, not being able to play preseason, missing games," Jennings said, listing reasons for his down year. "Then getting into a rhythm, then Mo [Cheeks] was fired and I'm back down again. It was just the worst season ever, a roller coaster." Jennings gave the requisite offseason report that he's bulked up (reportedly adding 25 pounds), and he's prepared to earn his starter's minutes ahead of D.J. Augustin and Will Bynum. Rotoworld.com

  • Gustavo Ayon has formal offer from Spurs
Free agent PF/C Gustavo Ayon is reportedly deciding between formal contract offers from the Spurs and Shangdong in China.

Advice: It was reported two weeks ago that Ayon had reached a three-year deal with Real Madrid -- he's still mulling offers from Europe, but it sounds as though he's more inclined to play in China or return to the NBA. The Spurs' training camp starts in about 10 days, so he should make his final decision soon. Rotoworld.com

  • FA Michael Beasley to work out for Spurs
Free agent Michael Beasley will work out for the Spurs this week, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

Advice: He's still being paid by the Suns this season, so he may be waiting for an ideal situation, and he's at a career crossroads due to concerns about his behavior off the court and his inconsistent play on the court. The 25-year-old has already worked out twice for the Lakers, but we'd like nothing more than to see how he'd fare under coach Gregg Popovich. Rotoworld.com

  • Carl Landry (knee) still isn't 100 percent
Carl Landry said recently that he's still not 100 percent recovered from the torn meniscus that ended his 2013-14 season.

Advice: "That's what I'm going through right now - just being patient, but still trying to do the right things on the court," Landry said. "I would say that I'm almost [100 percent healthy] - I'm very close." He'll be scraping off the rust during training camp, assuming he can fully participate, and there's no reason to touch him in fantasy leagues with Jason Thompson, Reggie Evans and Eric Moreland all crowded around the PF position. • Kings rookie admits need to bulk up for NBA
Kings prospect PF Eric Moreland said that he's added nearly 20 pounds to his lean 6'10" frame this summer.

Advice: Moreland is up to 230 pounds but he conceded, "I still have a lot more weight to add." Kings GM Pete D'Alessandro described the 22-year-old Moreland as an energetic player who can "step in and create a niche for himself," but he's not even a lock to make the regular-season roster. • Hamady Ndiaye to join Nets at training camp
The Nets have given a training-camp contract to C Hamady Ndiaye, who made 14 brief appearances with the Kings last season.

Advice: The 7'0" center from Senegal was drafted No. 56 overall in 2010 and he's struggled to make a mark in the NBA. He's expected to battle for Brooklyn's third-string center job, behind Brook Lopez and Mason Plumlee, but won't be a fantasy asset even if he makes the squad. Rotoworld.com

  • Mike Miller ready to accept smaller role
Mike Miller acknowledged that he'll play a smaller role with the Cavaliers this season, given their depth and surfeit of 3-point shooters.

Advice: "This team, as good as it looks on paper, if we're going to be successful, people are going to have to sacrifice - whether it's minutes, shots or financially," Miller said. "That's the commitment it takes to win a championship." Miller's 3-point prowess won't be as critical with Kevin Love, Kyrie Irving and even James Jones on the roster, but he's still a viable specialist in deeper leagues. Rotoworld.com

  • FA Jamaal Franklin working out for Spurs
Former Grizzlies G Jamaal Franklin has been working out for the Spurs this week.

Advice: Franklin shot 45.5 percent from downtown in limited action with the Grizzlies last season, and once he joined the D-League he notched 15.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.8 steals. If he does join the Spurs for training camp, they'll have no fewer than 19 players on the roster. Rotoworld.com

  • DeMarcus Cousins praised after Team USA
Team USA director Jerry Colangelo said that DeMarcus Cousins made "tremendous strides" during the FIBA World Cup.

Advice: "You can use all the superlatives you want and apply them to DeMarcus," Colangelo said. "In the locker room after our [gold-medal] win over Serbia ... I told him, `The past is the past. This is the beginning of your career. Take everything you learned back to Sacramento." Cousins improved his conditioning to make Team USA and his improved maturity makes him an even more appealing first-round pick in fantasy drafts this season. Rotoworld.com

  • Hollins looking for a team to sign with
Free agent Ryan Hollins said he's been in talks with the Heat, Kings, Bulls, Lakers and Spurs.

Advice: He met with the Heat earlier this month and nothing is imminent at this point. Hollins will likely get a camp deal with some team, but he won't be in the rotation to start the season. Rotoworld.com

  • Wiggins expected to work out later this week
Andrew Wiggins is expected to work out with the Wolves later this week.

Advice: The Wolves already have Kevin Martin, Corey Brewer, Zach LaVine and Robbie Hummel working out, and all of them could be fighting for minutes with Wiggins. The No. 1 pick of the 2014 draft is expected to start and serves as a risky pick in the middle of fantasy drafts. Rotoworld.com

  • DeMarcus Cousin shoots 70% at FIBA
DeMarcus Cousins shot 70.2 percent from the field during his FIBA World Cup.

Advice: He was terrific off the bench and showed some maturity this summer. Cousins caught an elbow to the throat against Lithuania on Thursday, but he was able to restrain himself from throwing a punch. He just turned 24 last month and still has plenty of room to improve. DMC is worth a look at the end of the first round. Rotoworld.com

  • Team USA wins FIBA gold, Kyrie named MVP
Kyrie Irving was named MVP of the FIBA World Cup after leading Team USA to the gold medal with a 129-92 victory vs. Serbia.

Advice: Irving was on fire throughout the championship game, scoring 26 points on 10-of-13 shooting including a perfect 6-of-6 from beyond the arc. James Harden added 23 points in the victory and eight different U.S. players scored in the double-digits. The All-World Cup Team featured Irving, teammate Kenneth Faried, Pau Gasol, Nicolas Batum and Serbian SG Milos Teodosic. Rotoworld.com

  • Kyrie Irving scores 18, Team USA rolls 96-68
Kyrie Irving scored a team-high 18 points during Team USA's 96-68 semifinal win over Lithuania on Thursday, adding one rebound, four assists, two steals, two turnovers and two 3-pointers in 34 minutes.

Advice: He's looked great all tournament long and no other guard can cover him at FIBA. Irving hasn't had help on his Cavs for most of his career, so playing with this kind of talent could be foreshadowing to how his 2013-14 season goes. Still, his usage rate figures to take a massive hit, which will undoubtedly hurt his fantasy value. Rotoworld.com

  • Kyrie Irving OK after hard fall at World Cup
Kyrie Irving admitted that he "couldn't even sit down on the bench" after taking a hard fall during Friday's FIBA World Cup game, but he's since fully recovered.

Advice: Irving hurt his left hip but he has since played without limitations in victories against Mexico and Slovenia. He's never been to the playoffs and conceded that Team USA's march into the World Cup semifinals has been "by far the biggest stage [he's] played on in [his] career." With LeBron James and Kevin Love coming to help him in Cleveland next season, that's likely to change in a hurry. Rotoworld.com

  • Gustavo Ayon signs 3-year deal with Real
Gustavo Ayon's deal with Real Madrid is for 3-years, according to David Pick of EuroBasket.

Advice: Ayon reportedly received minimum offers to play in the NBA in 2014-15, but the European contract offers he received were too lucrative for him to pass up. The 29-year-old has looked great for Team Mexico at the World Cup of Basketball in Barcelona, but he won't be available for NBA fantasy owners this season. Rotoworld.com

  • Miller says CLE gave him best chance to win
Mike Miller said he joined the Cavs because they gave him the best chance to win.

Advice: "Where I'm at in my career right now, it's all about giving yourself the best opportunity to win. I felt like this gave me the best opportunity to do that," Miller said. "Teaming up with him again is a blessing and we hope to make the most of it." He's expected to come off the bench and won't have much fantasy value. Rotoworld.com

  • DeMarcus Cousins has funny comment
DeMarcus Cousins replied with a witty remark when he was asked if he knew where Slovenia is on a map.

Advice: A European journalist asked Cousins, "do you know where Slovenia is?" Cousins replied, "no, do you know where Alabama is?" This obviously has nothing to do with basketball, but it's still in the running for funniest quote of the offseason. Boogie will be a borderline first-round pick in fantasy leagues. Rotoworld.com

  • Gustavo Ayon reached deal with Madrid
Gustavo Ayon has reached a deal with Real Madrid.

Advice: He wanted to play in the NBA, but it would appear Madrid's offer was too lucrative to turn down. Ayon looked great at the FIBA World Cup and has been productive in spots in the NBA, but we won't be seeing him stateside this year. Rotoworld.com
