Jarnell Stokes (illness) will play Friday vs. the Celtics.

Advice: He'll be available to play but there's no guarantee he'll get off the bench. Stokes can be ignored in most leagues.

  • Kosta Koufos (illness) will play Friday
Kosta Koufos (illness) will play Friday vs. the Celtics.

Advice: Koufos will play backup minutes behind Marc Gasol, and he can't be considered an asset in standard leagues. Leave him on the wire.

  • Jon Leuer (illness) will play Friday vs. BOS
Jon Leuer (illness) will suit up for Friday's game vs. the Celtics.

Advice: Leuer is nothing more than a backup, and he's averaging 3.6 points and 2.6 rebounds on the season. As long as Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph are healthy, Leuer isn't going to be worth touching in standard leagues.

  • Matt Bonner (stomach) out Friday vs. Boston
Matt Bonner (stomach illness) will not suit up for Friday's game vs. the Celtics.

Advice: Bonner has zero fantasy value in most fantasy leagues, and his absence just means more minutes for Tim Duncan, Boris Diaw, and Aaron Baynes. Bonner can remain on the wire in nearly all formats.

  • Marco Belinelli (groin) upgraded to probable
Marco Belinelli (groin) has been upgraded to probable for Friday's game vs. the Timberwolves.

Advice: Belinelli is confined to a bench role, and is averaging just 8.3 points and 1.7 three-pointers on the year, so his value is limited to deep leagues. If he plays, Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green would see a slight reduction in minutes, but Belinelli won't have a large enough impact to hurt either of their values.

  • Courtney Lee (illness) says he'll play Friday
Courtney Lee (illness) went through shootaround and said that he'll play Friday vs. the Celtics.

Advice: With Tony Allen (illness), Beno Udrih (illness), and Quincy Pondexter (illness) listed as questionable for this one, Lee could see some heavy minutes tonight in a favorable matchup vs. the Celtics. Stay tuned.

  • DeMarre Carroll (groin) active for Friday
DeMarre Carroll (groin) will be active for Friday's game, and all signs are pointing towards him making the start.

Advice: Carroll also implied that he may be on a minutes restriction tonight saying, "I’m going to come out kind of quickly," so he's not as attractive of an option on a busy Friday night. Thabo Sefolosha will head back to the bench upon Carroll's return, and he can be cut in all leagues.

  • Kobe happy to have Nick Young back in action
Kobe Bryant stated during a recent interview that he's happy to have Nick Young back in action.

Advice: "You got a player who can get buckets and create. He does wonders," Bryant said. "Nick is a phenomenal talent. He has a pull-up jump shot and is creating mismatches. I’m very happy to have him back." Bryant also went on to say that he thinks Young will compete for Sixth Man of the Year honors, a high compliment from a man who doesn't give out many. Young is averaging 16.5 points and 2.0 three-pointers through his first two games back with the team, and while he doesn't bring much else to the stat sheet, his scoring and 3-point shot making make him worth owning in standard leagues.

  • Stan Van Gundy praises Jonas Jerebko's play
Stan Van Gundy praised Jonas Jerebko's play during a recent interview.

Advice: "He's really focused on moving the ball and running to more pick and rolls, so our ball movement is much, much better with Jonas at the four than it is with our other guys," Van Gundy said. "He's just more tuned in to that. And he can stretch the floor out and shoot the ball, so you spread the defense out. And, really, with him at the four is our only chance to spread the defense out and get more room." Jerebko is averaging just 7.0 points and 2.7 rebounds over 16.5 minutes of action this season, so he can't be considered an asset in standard leagues. However, if an injury occurs to the Pistons' frontcourt, Jerebko will be a name to monitor.
  • Jason Richardson (foot) targeting Jan. return
Jason Richardson (foot) stated during a recent interview that he'll "definitely" return before the All-Star break.

Advice: "[I'll] definitely be back before the all-star break or January or maybe even before this year is over with," said Richardson. "I’ll see how my body takes all this training and getting ready for it." Players are generally more optimistic with regards to their potential return dates, so we wouldn't read too much into this. Richardson hasn't played in an NBA game since the 2012-13 season, and the Sixers may be looking to use Richardson as more of a mentor than a role player. As it stands right now, Richardson has zero fantasy value, and doesn't offer enough upside to be viewed as a stash candidate.

  • Flip says Corey Brewer too valuable to trade
Head coach and team president Flip Saunders stated during a recent interview that Corey Brewer is too valuable to the team to be traded.

Advice: This seems like posturing more than anything, as the Timberwolves are currently sitting on record of 3-7. Saunders may value Brewer's hard-nosed defense, but his play isn't exactly equating to wins for the Wolves. He's averaging 10.2 points and 2.1 steals on the season over 23.5 minutes of action, so he can be viewed as a steals specialist for owners in deep leagues. However, if he is traded to a title contender (a team with a deep wing rotation), he'll likely become a non-factor in most leagues.

  • Quincy Acy dealing with sprained right wrist
Quincy Acy has been dealing with a sprained right wrist, and recently had cortisone shot to help relieve the pain.

Advice: Acy has been dealing with this injury since preseason, and it's been giving him trouble with catching passes. He committed three turnovers during Wednesday's game vs. the Timberwolves, all on fumbled passes, but also added nine points and eight rebounds. Acy has bounced in and out of the starting lineup with the Knicks, and is currently averaging 5.0 points and 5.9 rebounds on the year. In other words, he's not worth owning in standard leagues.

  • Ryan Anderson playing without hesitation
Ryan Anderson was limited to just 22 games last season after he suffered a herniated cervical disc that required surgery, however, he is playing without hesitation this season.

Advice: "Ryan has no hesitation at all, especially on the offensive end," said Williams of Anderson's play. "He's always ready and willing to get up a shot and that's why we love him. I've seen him get hit in a few games and I didn't see him shake his neck or do anything that was any different than when he gets hit in practice. I think he got that stuff out of the way once he started playing in preseason." Anderson is currently averaging 16.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 3.0 three-pointers per game this season, numbers good enough for top-50 value.

  • Mazel Tov: Omri Casspi has perfect shooting
Omri Casspi made all five shots from the field and all four from the line for 14 points with one rebound and one steal against the Bulls on Thursday.

Advice: He played a handful of minutes as the stretch four tonight, but most of his playing time will come as Rudy Gay's backup. Casspi is only worth owning in deep leagues.
  • DeMarcus Cousins post 22-14 line in win
DeMarcus Cousins played through a hip injury and lived in the paint against the Bulls on Thursday, scoring 22 points with 14 boards, four assists, one steal and one block in 34 minutes.

Advice: He did turn the ball over five times and had five fouls. Cousins leads the NBA in fouls and has committed at least five in all but three games this season. Besides that and the high turnovers, Cousins is dominating on the stat sheet and is the main reason why the Kings are 7-5. He's in the mix to be the most valuable big man behind Anthony Davis.
  • Rudy Gay puts up an efficient 20 points
Rudy Gay made 7-of-11 from the field for 20 points against the Bulls on Thursday and added seven rebounds, three assists and one 3-pointer in 35 minutes.

Advice: He was probable to play with some Achilles soreness and he did have a heating pad on his foot in the fourth quarter. According to TNT's telecast, the Kings were planning on treating him in the game, so there's no need to worry. There is a chance this becomes an issue later, but Gay should be in all lineups right now.
  • Taj Gibson has a letdown game in Sacramento
Taj Gibson scored 12 points with eight rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal in 34 minutes against the Kings on Thursday.

Advice: Gibson owners had higher hopes than this tonight as the starting power forward. In his seven starts at power forward last season, he averaged 20.6 points, 9.7 boards, 1.7 blocks and 0.9 steals. Pau Gasol (calf) could miss more time, so Gibson owners should continue to have him locked into their lineups until further notice.
  • Joakim Noah turns it on late
Joakim Noah turned it on late against the Kings in a losing effort on Thursday, finishing with 10 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, one steal and one block in 37 minutes.

Advice: He played almost the entire fourth quarter with five fouls and was very active on the glass. Noah had another double-double on Monday in the first game without Pau Gasol, so it's fair to say Noah will have better fantasy value sans Pau.
  • Jimmy Butler scores 23 points
Jimmy Butler scored 23 points against the Kings on Thursday with eight rebounds, one assist, two steals and three turnovers.

Advice: He operated out of the post quite a bit, but he had nine of his 11 makes come off an assist tonight. Butler has been the go-to option for the Bulls these days, but his usage takes a massive hit when Derrick Rose (hamstring) is on the floor. He's putting up first-round value right now.
  • Rudy, DMC and Thompson are all in on Thurs
Rudy Gay (Achilles), Jason Thompson (quad) and DeMarcus Cousins (hip) are all starting on Thursday.

Advice: The team called them all probable and didn't provide any updates leading up to the game, but at least there were no surprises here. Get Gay and Cousins in your lineups.

  • Jarnell Stokes is questionable for Friday
Jarnell Stokes (illness) is questionable to face the Celtics on Friday.

  • Nick Young receives flop warning from league
Nick Young received a flop warning from the NBA on Thursday.

Advice: Young drew a foul on Kyle Korver while attempting a 3-point shot, and as the video shows, Korver did not even make contact with Young. The first offense is just a warning, but the second results in a $5,000 fine, with each additional flop resulting in an increased penalty. Young has brought a much-needed scoring-punch to the Lakers' second unit, and is averaging 17.0 points and 2.0 three-pointers through his first two games. He doesn't do much aside from score, but should be able to sustain limited value in standard leagues.
  • Matt Bonner (stomach) questionable for Friday
Matt Bonner (stomach illness) is being listed as questionable for Friday's game vs. the Timberwolves.

Advice: Bonner is averaging just 6.6 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.4 three-pointers on the season, and that pretty much tells you all you need to know about Bonner's non-existent fantasy value. Feel free to leave The Red Mamba on the wire in all but the deepest of leagues.

  • Marco Belinelli (groin) questionable for Fri.
Marco Belinelli (groin) is being listed as questionable for Friday's game vs. the Timberwolves.

Advice: Belinelli is averaging just 8.3 points and 1.7 three-pointers this season, so his return to the court shouldn't matter for owners in standard leagues. Deep league owners will want to check back closer to Friday's tip for an official update on his status.

  • Courtney Lee (illness) questionable for Fri.
Courtney Lee (illness) is questionable to play Friday vs. the Celtics.

Advice: Tony Allen, Beno Udrih, Kosta Koufos, Jon Leuer, Quincy Pondexter, and Jarnell Stokes are also being listed as questionable with the same illness, leaving the Grizzlies with six healthy bodies for Friday's game. Vince Carter would be in line for some heavy minutes if all seven players are unable to go, and he would make for a nice short-term option in standard leagues. Tayshaun Prince would also have some increased opportunity, while Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol would get all the minutes they can handle. Stay tuned.

  • DeMarre Carroll (groin) probable for Friday
DeMarre Carroll (groin) went through a full practice on Thursday, and is being listed as probable for Friday's game vs. the Pistons.

Advice: Carroll also said he will play vs. Detroit, so all signs are pointing towards a Friday return. Thabo Sefolosha will head back to the bench upon Carroll's return, and he'll go back to being irrelevant in standard leagues. Stay tuned for an official update on Carroll's status as we draw closer to Friday's tip.

The NBPA is set to file an appeal on Jeff Taylor's 24-game suspension for his involvement in a domestic violence case.

  • Jason Thompson (quad) probable for Thursday
Jason Thompson (quad) is being listed as probable for Thursday's game vs. Chicago.

Advice: Thompson is averaging just 4.3 points and 6.3 rebounds as a starter for the Kings, and he's faced with a very difficult matchup today against an imposing Chicago frontcourt. So whether he plays tonight should be of little concern to owners in standard leagues. However, if Thompson does sit this one out Carl Landry would be in line for some increased minutes, but given Sacramento's opponent, neither player makes for a very attractive option.
  • DeMarcus Cousins (hip) probable for Thursday
DeMarcus Cousins (hip) is being listed as probable for Thursday's game vs. the Bulls.

Advice: Cousins' injury seems very minor, and he was able to put up 24 points and 17 rebounds during his last outing, despite tweaking his left hip flexor during Tuesday's warmups. Stay tuned for an official update as we draw closer to Thursday's tip, but things are looking positive for Sacramento's primary offensive weapon.
  • Rudy Gay (Achilles) probable for Thursday
Rudy Gay (Achilles) is being listed as probable for Thursday's game vs. the Bulls.

Advice: Gay hasn't missed a game yet with his Achilles tendinitis, so we're going to say he's very likely to play in this one. Still, owners will want to check back for an official update as we draw closer to Thursday's tip. If Gay is unable to go, Omri Casspi would likely pick up a majority of his minutes at small forward. Stay tuned.

  • Corey Brewer had to gut through game Weds
Corey Brewer (illness) admitted that he had to gut through Wednesday's win over the Knicks.

Advice: Brewer wasn't certain if he would be able to suit up after missing morning shootaround, but was able to play 29 minutes despite his illness. "I was hurting so bad," Brewer said. The 28-year-old should be good-to-go for Friday's game against the Spurs, but his fantasy value is still limited to deeper leagues, despite the six steals on Wednesday.
  • Kenneth Faried quiet in 30 minutes
Kenneth Faried got 30 minutes from coach Brian Shaw on Wednesday, but had just eight points, 10 rebounds, a steal and zero blocks on 3-of-7 shooting.

Advice: At this point, you have to wonder if Brian Shaw is shunning Faried in the offense in order to keep Faried down. He has too much talent to be this bad all season and blew up after a slow start last year. Just hang in there with him if you can, but if you feel like you have to move him, there should be some owners out there willing to buy low. The good news is he got 30 minutes after playing just 22 on Monday, so there's that.

  • Andre Roberson plays seven minutes in return
Andre Roberson returned from a foot injury on Wednesday and played seven minutes, finishing with three points, two rebounds, one assist and a 3-pointer.

Advice: He's been out for a few weeks with the injury, but could be slotted into the starting SG job once he's fully healthy. That's where he was before the injury, but he isn't much of a fantasy prospect unless you're in a really deep league.

  • Swaggy PhD: Nick Young cures Lakers
Nick Young helped the Lakers win their second game in a row in a 98-92 victory in Houston, scoring 16 points with four rebounds, two steals and two 3-pointers in 28 minutes.

Advice: The Lakers went 1-9 without Young, but they've now won both games with him. He's getting plenty of shots in the second unit and it looks like he'll be able to score in the teens. His owners shouldn't expect much else besides scoring, but give him a look if that's what your team is lacking.

  • Corey Brewer has six steals against NYK
Corey Brewer played through an illness on Wednesday and looked healthy with 14 points, two rebounds, two assists and six steals in 29 minutes.

  • Quincy Acy plays 32 minutes vs. Wolves
Quincy Acy played 32 minutes against the Wolves on Wednesday with nine points, eight boards and three turnovers.

Advice: Garbage time was a factor here and Acy wouldn't usually get this much playing time even in a start. In his previous four starts, Acy only averaged 5.0 points, 6.3 boards and 0.3 blocks. He's only worth owning in deep leagues.
    Wednesday, 10:43 pm
  • Larry Sanders plays 14 minutes
Larry Sanders played 14 minutes against the Nets on Wednesday with four points, four boards and one turnover.

Advice: He was a game-time decision tonight and the Bucks didn't announce he was a go until after the 7:30 start time in Brooklyn. Sanders will likely have his minutes limited in his next game on Friday, so his owners should have low expectations against the Raptors on Friday. Check back for updates, assuming the team provides them.

  • Rudy Gay is questionable for Thursday
Rudy Gay (Achilles) is questionable to face the Bulls on Thursday.

  • DeMarcus Cousins is probable for Thursday

  • Andre Roberson is available to play vs. DEN
Andre Roberson (foot) is available to play against the Nuggets on Wednesday.

Advice: It's unclear if he is going to start or if his minutes are limited. Roberson was close to playing on Tuesday, but he probably won't be fully unleashed tonight. If you want to pick him up in a deep league, it makes some sense. Although, he will lose a lot of value upon the return of Kevin Durant (foot).

  • Larry Sanders is starting on Wednesday
Larry Sanders is in the starting lineup on Wednesday night.

Advice: In usual Bucks fashion, this update comes at 7:37 pm EST for the 7:30 game. Sanders' thigh issue may limit him and his minutes have been a bit erratic anyway, so he should be on the bench in most fantasy leagues. Zaza Pachulia will move back into the second unit tonight.
    Wednesday, 4:36 pm
  • Corey Brewer expected to play Wednesday
Corey Brewer is expected to play against the Knicks on Wednesday.

Advice: The report does add "barring any changes," so it's not a 100 percent lock. Brewer should still be on most fantasy benches tonight.
    Wednesday, 4:26 pm
  • Corey Brewer questionable with an illness
Corey Brewer (illness) received an IV and is questionable to play against the Knicks on Wednesday.

Advice: Well, it's flu season. Brewer and Kevin Martin could both miss tonight, so Shabazz Muhammad, Glenn Robinson III, Chase Budinger and Robbie Hummel may all have to help out. Brewer should obviously be benched in all leagues.
    Wednesday, 3:49 pm
  • Quincy Acy will start on Wednesday night
Quincy Acy will start next to Shane Larkin, Iman Shumpert, Carmelo Anthony and Samuel Dalembert against the Wolves.

Advice: The Knicks are going with the big lineup tonight, but Acy is still not a fantasy option. He's only averaged 5.0 points, 6.3 boards and 0.3 blocks in his four previous starts.
    Wednesday, 3:43 pm
  • Jon Leuer is out for Wednesday night
Jon Leuer (illness) will not play against the Raptors on Wednesday.

  • C-Lee, Tony Allen among five DNPs for Grizz
The Grizzlies have ruled out Courtney Lee, Tony Allen, Beno Udrih, Kosta Koufos and Jon Leuer for Wednesday's game, as all of them have the flu.

Advice: Memphis has a 10-1 record but they'll be really tested with so many rotation players out vs. the Raptors. Quincy Pondexter emerges as a viable short-term option, as does Vince Carter -- the Raptors will be honoring him in Toronto tonight, giving him a bit of extra motivation.

Advice: Jon Leuer is also out with the flu, leaving the Grizzlies' frontcourt very thin behind Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph, who will play as many minutes as possible. Jarnell Stokes should also crack the rotation, but it's just as likely that guys like Tayshaun Prince and Quincy Pondexter will play out-of-position minutes in the frontcourt.

  • Larry Sanders is a game-time call vs. Nets
Larry Sanders (thigh) is a game-time call on Wednesday night to face the Nets.

  • Jason Richardson (foot) optimistic for return
Jason Richardson expects to return from the stress fracture in his right foot this season, potentially before January.

Advice: "There's no doubt in my mind I'll be back this year," Richardson said. "I might be back before January if all goes well." The veteran's optimism is nice to hear but we're certainly not betting on a return in 2014, and even once he's healthy he may not crack the 76ers' rotation.

  • Matt Bonner out Wednesday w/ stomach illness
Matt Bonner will not suit up for the Spurs on Wednesday due to a stomach illness.

Advice: Tiago Splitter (calf) is still on the shelf, so there will be extra opportunities for Tim Duncan, Boris Diaw and Aron Baynes against the Cavaliers' lenient frontcourt. Bonner is coming off a fluky 18-point game vs. the 76ers, but he's too inconsistent for use as more than a 3-point specialist in very deep leagues.

Jeff Taylor has been suspended 24 games without pay for his involvement in a domestic violence case.

  • DeMarre Carroll says he will play Friday
DeMarre Carroll (groin) said he will play on Friday night against the Pistons.

Advice: He has been out for four games with his groin issue and it probably cost the Hawks on Tuesday with a loss to the Lakers. Carroll has been on fire from beyond the arc with his 45.8 percent from deep on the season and his 12.0 points per game on a usage of just 14.6 percent is impressive. His owners can pencil him in for a start. Thabo Sefolosha will move back to the bench.

  • Courtney Lee (flu) had to go to the hospital
Courtney Lee (illness) had to go to the hospital because he was so dehydrated but hopes to play on Wednesday against the Raptors.

Advice: The Grizzlies will be under the weather tonight and it's probably doubtful to see Lee suit up tonight. Considering it's an 11-game night, his fantasy owners will want to take him out of their lineups. Tayshaun Prince is likely to start, but Quincy Pondexter is the preferred play. Vince Carter could also have a season-high in minutes.

  • DeMarre Carroll practices probable Friday
DaMarre Carroll should be considered probable for Friday's game, after he was able to be a full participant in Wednesday's practice.

Advice: His return would be huge for the Hawks, as he has proved to be a animal on the defensive end and a capable 3-point shooter. His return would send Thabo Sefolosha back to the bench, and if Carroll is available in your league, you would be wise to give him a look.

  • Larry Sanders (thigh) questionable Wednesday
Larry Sanders (thigh) is questionable for Wednesday's game against the Nets.

Advice: He was a late scratch on Tuesday because of his bruised thigh, so owners will want to check back for updates prior to tip-off. If Sanders can't go, expect Zaza Pachulia to draw another start after he double-doubled on Tuesday, but anything is possible with coach Kidd. Stay tuned.
    Wednesday, 10:36 am
  • Courtney Lee (flu) questionable Wednesday
Courtney Lee (flu) is questionable for Wednesday's game against Toronto.

Advice: Tony Allen, Kosta Koufos, Beno Udrih, and Jon Leuer are also questionable with the same illness and things are not looking good for the Grizzlies at the moment. If they end up sitting this one out, expect to see a lot of Vince Carter and Quincy Pondexter while rookies Jarnell Stokes and Jordan Adams could get in on the action. Stay tuned.

  • Jon Leuer (flu) questionable for Wednesday
Jon Leuer (flu) is questionable for Wednesday's game against Toronto.

Advice: He is not the only Grizzly battling the flu, joining Tony Allen, Kosta Koufos, Beno Udrih and Courtney Lee on the injury report. If Leuer sits this one out, rookie Jarnell Stokes will see an uptick in minutes, but not enough to warrant attention in most fantasy leagues.

  • Kosta Koufos (flu) questionable Wednesday
Kosta Koufos (flu) is questionable for Wednesday's game.

Advice: He will join Tony Allen, Courtney Lee, Beno Udrih and Jon Leuer on the injury list as they are all dealing with flu-like symptoms. Koufos is the first-big off of the bench, so his absence could mean decent minutes for rookie Jarnell Stokes, though he isn't worth targeting in almost any league. Check back for an update before tip-off.

  • Marco Belinelli (groin) is doubtful Wednesday
Marco Belinelli (groin) is listed as doubtful for Wednesday's game.

Advice: The Italian is only an asset in deeper leagues for his 3-pointers, so owners in standard leagues can continue to ignore him. If Belinelli can't go, Danny Green and Kawhi Leonard will continue to absorb his minutes.

  • Jason Thompson (quad) posts 15 & 9 Tuesday
Jason Thompson (quad) had 15 points, nine rebounds and two turnovers in 25 minutes of action on Tuesday.

Advice: He jumped out to a quick start and looked unimpeded by his recent quad injury, but as usual his fantasy contributions were restricted to points, FG percentage and rebounds. Fantasy owners in deeper formats would be better off looking for value in backup PF Carl Landry (eight points, nine boards, one steal in 16 minutes).
    Tuesday, 9:39 pm
  • Rudy Gay (Achilles) quiet in 37 minutes Tues.
Rudy Gay (Achilles) had a subpar game in 37 minutes of action on Tuesday, making 6-of-17 field goals to finish with 15 points, four rebounds, five assists, one steal and four turnovers.

Advice: Gay didn't appear hobbled and his playing time suggests the Kings' coaches and trainers weren't overly concerned about his Achilles tendinitis, which had him listed as questionable for the game. Sacramento returns to action on Thursday vs. the Bulls, and fantasy owners should assume Gay will start unless a report surfaces to the contrary.
    Tuesday, 9:38 pm
  • DeMarcus Cousins (hip) plays well vs Pelicans
DeMarcus Cousins tweaked his left hip flexor while warming up for Tuesday's game, but he still finished with 24 points, 17 boards, three assists and two blocks vs. the Pelicans.

Advice: Needless to say, the hip injury didn't limit DMC and shouldn't be a problem going forward. The Kings jumped out to a big lead for the third straight game tonight, but once again they let it slip away and their record has fallen to 6-5 after an impressive 5-1 start to the season. They'll have a tough task staying above .500 with the Bulls coming to town for a nationally-televised game on Thursday.
    Tuesday, 9:36 pm
  • Ryan Anderson scores 22 points w/ four 3s
Ryan Anderson caught fire in the second half of Tuesday's comeback win in Sacramento, finishing with 22 points on 9-of-17 shooting, four 3-pointers, four rebounds, one steal and one block.

Advice: He was very quiet in the first half, but few players can catch fire as quickly as Ryno, who did his damage in 31 minutes of action. His playing time has picked up with Omer Asik (back) sidelined over the past two games, but Anderson doesn't need more than 25-30 minutes per game to provide solid points and rebounds with elite 3-pointers.
    Tuesday, 9:35 pm
  • Larry Sanders (thigh) traveling on road trip
Larry Sanders (bruised left thigh) will travel with the Bucks for games on Wednesday and Friday.

Advice: He remains questionable for Wednesday's game vs. the Nets, but it's a great sign that he'll join the team for their brief two-game road trip. Zaza Pachulia double-doubled with a full line as a starter in Sanders' absence on Tuesday and would be worth a look for temporary value if Sanders misses any more games. We should know more after Milwaukee's shootaround, so check for updates on Wednesday afternoon.
    Tuesday, 8:15 pm
  • Jordan Hill double-doubles w/ 18 pts, 10 reb
Jordan Hill double-doubled with 18 points, 10 rebounds and one assist vs. the Hawks on Tuesday, making 8-of-17 FGs and 2-of-2 FTs in just 31 minutes of action.

Advice: The Hawks rank 28th in rebounding with a -3.8 differential and they're particularly poor on the offensive glass, where Carlos Boozer and Hill hurt them all night long. It was Hill's putback following an offensive rebound that gave L.A. a much-needed five-point cushion down the stretch, and he's quietly emerged as a top-100 fantasy value through L.A.'s first 11 games.

  • Nick Young scores 17 efficient pts in debut
Nick Young (thumb) made his season debut on Tuesday, scoring 17 points with two 3-pointers, five rebounds and one steal in 28 minutes off the bench.

Advice: Swaggy P had a few typically erratic shot attempts, but he was generally under control and efficient, which isn't usually the case -- he's a 42.9 percent shooter for his career, and was at just 41.3 percent last season. Fantasy owners may find him useful for scoring and 3-point shooting, but don't expect well-rounded production.
    Tuesday, 7:05 pm
  • Jason Thompson (quad) will play Tuesday
Jason Thompson (quad) will play in Tuesday's game against the Pelicans.

Advice: He is only averaging 3.2 points per game this season so this goes without saying that he shouldn't be considered in standard leagues. Even worse, Thompson will have to deal with Anthony Davis all night which makes him quite unappealing in daily leagues. You can safely ignore him in almost all formats.
    Tuesday, 6:58 pm
  • Rudy Gay (Achilles) starting vs. New Orleans
Rudy Gay (Achilles) will start Tuesday's game vs. New Orleans, as expected.

Advice: Gay has some tendinitis in his right Achilles but the fact that he's active indicates it's not serious. He's off to a terrific start this season, averaging 22.5 points and 6.8 rebounds, and it's safe to keep him active in all lineups.
    Tuesday, 5:26 pm
  • Andre Roberson (foot) won't return on Tuesday
Andre Roberson (foot) will not return on Tuesday and he remains day-to-day.

Advice: There's a chance that Roberson will play Wednesday, but OKC may hold him out until Friday or Saturday as a precaution. He's likely to assume the starting SG job once healthy, but he doesn't have enough fantasy upside to be worth owning in standard leagues.

  • Larry Sanders a late scratch w/ bruised thigh
Larry Sanders was a late scratch on Tuesday due to a bruised thigh.

Advice: Zaza Pachulia will start at center in his absence and John Henson should earn more playing time off the bench, but the injury was reported so late that most fantasy owners will be unable to change their lineups. Sanders has averaged 6.2 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.8 blocks through the Bucks' first 10 games, despite the fact that he's playing only 22 minutes per game. His injury doesn't sound serious and we're considering him questionable to return for Wednesday's game in Brooklyn.
    Tuesday, 4:58 pm
  • Marco Belinelli (groin) doubtful for Wed.
Marco Belinelli (groin) is being listed as doubtful for Wednesday's game vs. the Cavaliers.

Advice: If Belinelli is unable to go, Danny Green and Kawhi Leonard will continue to sop up his minutes. Belinelli is averaging 8.3 points and 1.7 three-pointers per game this year, so he can only be considered an asset in very deep leagues.
    Tuesday, 3:06 pm

  • Jason Thompson (quad) probable Tuesday vs. NO
Jason Thompson (left quad tendinitis) is being listed as probable for Tuesday's game vs. New Orleans.

Advice: Thompson is averaging just 3.2 points and 6.0 rebounds over 25 minutes of action this season, so he's obviously not worth a roster spot in standard leagues. It sounds like he'll suit up on Tuesday, but if he's unable to go, Carl Landry would likely pick up most of his minutes. Reggie Evans could also see some extended run off the bench.
    Tuesday, 2:36 pm
  • Rudy Gay (Achilles) probable Tuesday vs. NO
Rudy Gay (right Achilles tendinitis) has been upgraded to probable for Tuesday's game vs. the Pelicans.

Advice: It's looking likely that Gay will suit up for this one, but owners will want to check back for an official update as we draw closer to Tuesday's tip. If Gay sits, Omri Casspi would likely pick up a majority of the minutes at small forward, and would make for a decent plug-and-play option in daily leagues. Stay tuned.

  • Report: Nuggets management not high on Faried
According to sources with knowledge of the Nuggets' thinking, Kenneth Faried is not well liked by the organization, particularly by head coach Brian Shaw.

Advice: "[Faried] is a helluva player and plays hard, but he isn’t well liked [in the organization]," a league source said. "That gets glossed over. He says crazy s---. He thinks he’s the guy, and other guys take exception to his contract." This could perhaps explain why Faried's minutes have regressed this season to just 26.5 per game, however, if the Nuggets were to do some sort of "restructuring," Shaw would likely be the one to go. Denver has been a mess, and they can no longer point to injuries as the main culprit. Faried has been underwhelming following a fantastic summer, but he should be able to eventually turn things around, so he can be viewed as a buy-low guy.
    Tuesday, 1:09 pm
  • Andre Roberson getting closer to return
Andre Roberson (foot) is close to returning this week, according to Thunder head coach Scott Brooks, and could play as early as Tuesday against the Jazz.

Advice: Brooks mentioned Tuesday as a possibility, but we're more likely looking at Wednesday, Friday, or Saturday if we're staying within Brooks' timetable of this week. Roberson doesn't deserve much fantasy attention as a defensive specialist, but his return will cut into Jeremy Lamb and Anthony Morrow's already limited fantasy value.

  • Nick Young to come off bench Tuesday
Nick Young (thumb) will come off the bench as he makes his 2014-15 season debut against the Hawks on Tuesday.

Advice: Swaggy's back. While Young will likely find himself in the Lakers' starting lineup sooner or later, Lakers' head coach will ease him back into action against the Hawks on Tuesday. Fantasy owners can expect Swaggy P to serve as the Lakers' second scoring option behind Kobe Bryant, but need to be aware of the low field goal percentage and minimal peripherals that will come with his scoring.
    Tuesday, 9:21 am
  • Jarnell Stokes sees first minutes of career
Jarnell Stokes say the first minutes of his NBA career during Monday's blowout win over the Rockets.

Advice: Stokes scored four points to go along with two rebounds during his first six minutes of NBA action after being selected in the second round of the 2014 NBA Draft. While it's nice to see the Memphis native get some playing time, he's not going to see enough minutes to warrant any attention from fantasy owners.

  • DeMarre Carroll out Tuesday against Lakers
DeMarre Carroll (groin) will miss Tuesday's game against the Lakers.

Advice: Carroll will miss his fourth consecutive game with the groin injury and will again be replaced in the starting lineup by Thabo Sefolosha. Sefolosha has filled-in well for Carroll over the last three games, but he's not much more than a punt option in daily games while Carroll is out.

  • Joakim Noah says Bulls have work to do
Joakim Noah said the Bulls still have work to do after Monday's win over the Clippers.

Advice: After easily defeating the Clippers without Derrick Rose and Pau Gasol, Noah said the Bulls have some building to do. "We have a lot of work to do," Noah said. "As long as we stay humble and we keep working, keep getting better as a team, hopefully, we'll have a chance. But we're nowhere near where we have to be." While Noah's numbers haven't been exactly what his fantasy owners expected, his improved play over the Bulls' last five games should give hope that he can still return top-30 value.
    Tuesday, 7:53 am
  • Gibson enjoys like without Pau on Monday
Taj Gibson enjoyed life without Pau Gasol (calf) in Monday's road win over the Clippers, scoring 20 points on 9-of-13 shooting with five rebounds, six assists, one steal and two blocks in 41 minutes.

Advice: Yes, he would be quite good if Gasol (day-to-day) missed any extended time, but everybody knew that coming into the season. He still has standalone value and should be in many lineups on a weekly basis.
    Monday, 11:08 pm
  • Noah posts big popcorn line in easy win
Joakim Noah scored 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting with 16 rebounds and six assists in Monday's easy win over the Clippers.

Advice: Noah's numbers are down in enough areas to worry that he's still not at 100 percent, but he's playing and doing enough to return top-75 value.
    Monday, 11:04 pm
  • Butler headlines night of big lines for Bulls
Jimmy Butler scored 22 points on 6-of-17 shooting with six rebounds, eight assists, two steals, one three and a 9-of-10 mark from the foul line in Monday's win.

Advice: Butler is returning top-10 fantasy value and it's unclear where his shooting percentages are ultimately going to fall because he has clearly improved. Making an ungodly 80.6 percent from the line on 8.0 attempts per game, we're getting past issues involving small sample size too. The safe play is to sell him high in exchange for a well-positioned top-20 asset, but what fun would that be?
    Monday, 11:02 pm
  • Red Mamba scores 18 points in win
Matt Bonner scored 18 points with one rebound, three assists and four 3-pointers in 20 minutes against the 76ers on Monday.

Advice: The 76ers will give up big lines and this is one of the funnier ones. Bonner is not worth owning in most leagues, but he's a deep-league spot-start guy while Tiago Splitter (calf) is out.

  • Faried benched after leaked ESPN report
Kenneth Faried played just 22 minutes before being benched in Monday's road win over the Cavs, finishing with eight points on 4-of-6 shooting with one rebound, one steal and two blocks.

Advice: Ouch. ESPN reported earlier in the day that the front office wasn't thrilled with Faried and perhaps this was Brian Shaw flexing his muscles in coordination with that report. Of course, Shaw and the front office are circling the wagons after a suspect couple of years, and mounting pressure amidst their disastrous start. A win over the Cavs will certainly net them some currency, but in the long term it would be surprising if Faried is successfully scapegoated here.

  • Courtney Lee starting on Monday vs. Rockets

  • Rudy Gay (Achilles) is questionable for Tues.
Rudy Gay is questionable for Tuesday night against the Pelicans due to Achilles tendinitis.

Advice: He had some Achilles soreness last year and was able to play through it, so his fantasy owners shouldn't totally panic. We should know more at morning shootaround and his owners will want to check back tomorrow. If he's out, Omri Casspi would likely get most of the time at small forward.
    Monday, 4:19 pm
  • Corey Brewer dealing with trade rumors
Corey Brewer said he received 30 calls on Sunday night because of the trade rumors.

Advice: The Wolves aren't going anywhere and Brewer could wind up on the Cavs or Rockets. If he is traded, that should open up some more minutes for Andrew Wiggins, Shabazz Muhammad and Chase Budinger. Brewer isn't worth owning in most leagues.
    Monday, 1:52 pm
  • DeMarre Carroll is now questionable for Tues.
DeMarre Carroll (groin) is listed as questionable for Tuesday against the Lakers.

Advice: The Hawks only have two games this week, so his owners in weekly leagues shouldn't consider starting him even with this encouraging news. Thabo Sefolosha has played well, but he's not going to get enough shots to matter in most leagues.

The Spurs are hopeful Marco Belinelli (groin) can return this week.

  • Nick Young (thumb) expected to play Tuesday
Nick Young (thumb) is expected to play on Tuesday, according to Lakers reporter Mike Trudell.

Advice: Young made it through a full practice without any setbacks and his scoring ability is sorely needed by L.A., though they're in greater need of defense. Swaggy is the most likely Laker to finish second in scoring behind Kobe Bryant, but fantasy owners should anticipate low FG percentages as well as minimal assists, rebounds, steals or blocks.
    Sunday, 9:11 pm
  • Marco Belinelli (groin) out Monday vs. 76ers
Marco Belinelli (groin) will not suit up for Monday's game vs. the 76ers.

  • Kenneth Faried goes for 16-9 in Nuggets loss
Kenneth Faried scored 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting (2-of-5 from the line), to go with nine rebounds, two steals, two turnovers, and one assist during Sunday's loss.

Advice: Faried is currently averaging just 9.5 FGA per game, and he needs to start being more aggressive in Denver's offense. His numbers this season are down across-the-board as he’s averaging11.5 points and 7.8 rebounds over 26.4 minutes of action. However, after such an impressive summer he just has to eventually get things turned around, so owners may want to float out some buy-low offers for The Manimal.
    Sunday, 3:01 pm
  • Report: Corey Brewer being shopped by Wolves
The Timberwolves are reportedly in active trade discussions with the Cavaliers and Rockets on veteran swingman Corey Brewer.

Advice: Brewer is averaging just 9.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.7 steals this season, and a move to a crowded backcourt on either of the aforementioned teams wouldn't do him any favors. He's a guy that can help an actual basketball team much more than a fantasy squad, and he belongs on the waiver wire in all but the deepest of leagues.
    Sunday, 2:24 pm
  • Report: Rudy Gay agrees to 3-year, $40M deal
Rudy Gay has reportedly agreed to a three-year, $40 million contract extension with the Kings.

Advice: The deal includes a player option for the 2017-18 season, and the Kings got a relative bargain on Gay. Rudy has been very impressive this season, averaging 22.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.1 three-pointers per game while shooting 44.8 percent from the field. That's good enough for second-round value, and he should continue to fill up the stat sheet as the Kings' No. 2 option on offense.
    Sunday, 12:08 pm
  • Nick Young (thumb) targeting Tuesday vs. ATL
Nick Young (thumb) is targeting a return for Tuesday's game vs. the Hawks.

Advice: "The Defensive Player of the Year is here today and he’ll be here Tuesday," Young said after going through a full practice on Saturday. The Lakers plan to have Young go through shootaround on Tuesday, after which, the Lakers’ medical staff will evaluate him. If he's cleared to play, he will suit up, and he'll likely come off the bench. Young doesn't have too much upside while Kobe Bryant is healthy, so owners in standard leagues can use a wait-and-see approach with the self-proclaimed MVP/Defensive Player of the Year candidate.
    Sunday, 11:46 am
  • Quincy Acy will draw the start on Sunday
Quincy Acy will draw the start against Denver on Sunday, while Amare Stoudemire is expected to come off of the bench.

Advice: Acy isn't consistent enough to be considered in standard leagues, but he can provide enough points and rebounds to be relevant for owners in deeper leagues. However, as long as Stoudemire is active, he will likely get the bulk of the minutes at PF and is the obvious choice here.
    Sunday, 8:43 am
  • Andre Roberson (foot) is not close to return
Andre Roberson (foot) is not close to making a return to the Thunder, and will not play on Sunday.

Advice: The Thunder haven't released a lot of info on Roberson which doesn't bode well for his status going forward. The defensive specialist should remain on the waiver wire in almost all leagues until we get a positive report. In the meantime, Jeremy Lamb will continue to play as many minutes as he can handle and is considered a boom-or-bust option.

Rudy Gay handed out six assists against the Spurs during a 94-91 win on Saturday with 18 points, three rebounds, one steal and one block.

Advice: He did shoot just 7-of-20 from the field and has seen his field goal percentage head south recently. Gay is still filling up the stat sheet as an eight-category player, so there's nothing to worry about yet.
    Sunday, 12:00 am
  • Boogie Down Production: Cousins scores 25 pts
DeMarcus Cousins scored a game-high 25 points against the Spurs on Saturday during a 94-91 win, adding 10 rebounds and one block on 10-of-19 from the field.

Advice: The Kings were uncharacteristically great in the paint tonight and held the Spurs to just 34 points in the paint, which was almost half of their 58. Cousins is dominating this season with the highest usage rate among big men while making 50 percent from the field. He's for real.

  • Jimmy Buckets indeed: Butler scores 32 points
Jimmy Butler scored a career-high 32 points against the Pacers on Saturday with six rebounds, one assist, two steals, one block and one 3-pointer in 41 minutes.

Advice: The breakout is real, folks. Butler is getting to the free throw line a ton, knocking down jumpers and playing great on the defense end. After tonight's game, Butler will have first-round value in standard leagues and he's arguably been the best pick in fantasy drafts.

  • Courtney Lee to come off the bench Saturday
Courtney Lee will once again come off the bench for the Grizzlies on Saturday, while Tayshaun Prince will draw another start.

Advice: Lee's owners shouldn't panic, as the Grizzlies may just want a spark off of the bench. Prince started on Thursday but scored just two points in 11 minutes, so owners should ignore him in almost all leagues, while Lee's owners should continue deploying him as usual.

  • Nick Young goes through a full practice
Nick Young (thumb) went through a full practice on Saturday.

Advice: His Tuesday target date seems very realistic, but there's been no indication he'll be ready for Sunday. Young attempted a ton of shots last season, but he had a usage rate of just 15.6 in his 82 minutes next to Kobe Bryant last season -- it was 26.6 without Mamba. He's not the greatest option in standard leagues unless you have a glaring weakness in scoring.

Andre Roberson (foot) did not practice on Saturday and is listed as out against the Rockets on Sunday.

  • Marco Belinelli (groin) ruled out on Saturday
Marco Belinelli (groin) was ruled out for Saturday's game against Sacramento.

Advice: He was ruled out fairly early in the morning on Saturday suggesting that he was nowhere close to playing. Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green will continue to pick up the slack in his absence. Owners in deep leagues can ignore Belinelli for now but once he regains his health, he could be a decent option for those in need of 3-pointers.

  • Kenneth Faried has a so-so game
Kenneth Faried scored 12 points with six rebounds and one steal in 24 minutes against the Pacers on Friday.

Advice: He was benched to start the second half on Wednesday and looked a little better tonight. Faried's season has been a major letdown, averaging 11.4 points, 8.0 boards, 1.7 assists, 1.0 blocks and 0.3 steals. That's a big surprise considering his outstanding summer, so he's still a nice buy-low guy.
    Friday, 7:49 pm
  • Sanders struggles with foul trouble on Friday
Larry Sanders struggled with foul trouble on Friday against the Magic, but still managed two steals and two blocks to go with four points and five boards in 16 minutes.

Advice: This gets it done for owners and he's hovering around his ADP as a top-100 value. If he could make headway on the mpg issue (23.4), then he'd really be onto something but in Jason Kidd's rotation we're not holding our breath.

  • Nick Young (thumb) targeting Tuesday night
Nick Young (thumb) said he is targeting Tuesday night against the Hawks to make his season debut.

Advice: He's been able to go through some portions of practice and conditioning shouldn't be an issue. Young is almost certainly going to come of the bench and should see minutes in the mid 20s. He's not going to have a big upside while Kobe Bryant is around.
    Friday, 11:39 am
  • Andre Roberson (foot) out Friday vs. Detroit
Andre Roberson (foot) will not play Friday vs. the Pistons.

Advice: Jeremy Lamb has been filling in as the starting shooting guard with Roberson sidelined, but he's had two consecutive bad games. Still, the opportunity will be there for Lamb as the Thunder currently only have 10 healthy bodies on their roster, but he's not a must-own player. Anthony Morrow blew up for 28 points in his last game, and out of all the available guards in OKC, Morrow is the guy with the most upside.

  • DeMarcus Cousins has 'no respect' for Barkley
DeMarcus Cousins said that he has "no respect" for Charles Barkley during a recent interview.

Advice: "I have no respect for [Barkley] and I never will," said Cousins. "We have nothing to talk about. So, yes, every time we see each other, there will never be words." Barkley has been hard on Cousins for most of his career, and Cousins apparently is holding a grudge. However, Cousins is also currently averaging 22.1 points, 11.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.3 steals, 1.4 blocks, and 3.4 turnovers with the Kings this season, making him one of the best big men to own in fantasy basketball. So if Chuck is adding fuel to the fire, fantasy owners should be thanking him.

  • DeMarcus Cousins gets a tech in big line
DeMarcus Cousins was called for his first technical foul of the season against the Grizzlies on Thursday, finishing with a line of 22 points, 12 boards, one assist, two steals and three blocks in just 31 minutes.

Advice: That means he's projected to finish ahead of his goal to have below five technical fouls on the season. Regardless, Cousins is leading big men in usage rate, providing plenty of defensive stats and is likely going to be a top-15 asset in fantasy leagues.

  • Courtney Lee wins game at the buzzer
Courtney Lee came off the bench against the Kings on Thursday and hit a game-winning layup at the buzzer, finishing with 16 points, one rebound, three assists, three steals and one 3-pointer in 36 minutes.

Advice: The Kings didn't defend him on an inbound play in one of the crazier plays of the season. Lee has been one of the best values of the fantasy season and is currently turning in early-round value, so there's no reason why he should be on any waiver wires. Why did he come off the bench again?

  • Joakim Noah plays 33 minutes in quiet game
Joakim Noah played 33 minutes against the Raptors on Thursday with six points, eight rebounds, six assists, one block and three steals.

Advice: He had a little bit of momentum coming in with back-to-back double-doubles, but the Raptors put the clamps on him in the first half with just two points and four boards. Noah's minutes were expected to be held in check and he still had a decent line, so it's all good. Continue to start him in all leagues.
    Thursday, 8:00 pm
  • Jimmy still has new moves: Butler nets 21 pts
Jimmy Butler's offensive game flourished again on Thursday against the Raptors, making 7-of-10 from the field for 21 points with nine rebounds, six assists, one block and one 3-pointer in 40 minutes.

Advice: So the preseason matters after all? Butler was one of the most impressive players in October and it's carried over into the regular season. Butler's efficiency was his only question mark and he's been able to turn in an effective field goal percentage of at least 46 in every game this season. We're not even 10 percent into the season, but his owners should feel pretty, pretty good.
    Thursday, 7:56 pm
  • Marco Belinelli won't play on Friday night
Marco Belinelli (groin) has been ruled out for Friday night against the Lakers.

Advice: His groin injury is certainly not minor and there will be no substantial sanctions for the Spurs here. Kawhi Leonard has seen his minutes increase while Danny Green is slightly more reliable sans Belinelli. The Italian can be left on the wire in most leagues.

  • DeMarre Carroll (groin) will not play Friday
DeMarre Carroll (groin) will not suit up for Friday's game vs. the Heat.

Advice: Thabo Sefolosha will likely be starting again on Friday, but after putting up just 10 points, five rebounds, one assists, one steal, and one turnover during his last start, he's not a very enticing option in standard leagues.

  • Corey Brewer scores 18 off Wolves bench
Corey Brewer came off the bench to hit 7-of-7 shots and a 3-pointer for 18 points, four rebounds, two assists and a steal in 24 minutes on Wednesday.

Advice: Brewer had just five points in his previous game and has scored in double figures just twice this season. Flip Saunders rested Thaddeus Young and Kevin Martin for much of this one, resulting in a nice night for Brewer. But as long as he's coming off the bench, you can continue to ignore him for now.
    Wednesday, 11:02 pm
  • Kenneth Faried comes off bench in 2nd half
Kenneth Faried hit 3-of-8 shots for 10 points and four rebounds in 24 minutes on Wednesday.

Advice: His season is off to a really slow start, just like last year, and he was benched to start the second half tonight. Hopefully, Brian Shaw is just trying to light a fire under Faried, but the way things are going, it looks like Shaw may have already lost his team. They were blown out at home by the Blazers and are just 1-6 on the season. It's too early to give up on Faried and now looks like a nice time to try to buy low.

  • Jordan Hill has an average game against NO
Jordan Hill had a mediocre game against the Pelicans in a 109-102 loss on Wednesday with 10 points, eight rebounds, two assists and two turnovers in 32 minutes.

Advice: It was his worst game in a while and yet he's still been able to log big minutes. Hill has played 31 minutes per night this season and has been a very solid big man for his fantasy owners. Keep him in your starting lineup.

  • Faried and Afflalo benched for Gee and Arthur
Kenneth Faried and Arron Afflalo were benched to start the second half on Wednesday in favor of Darrell Arthur and Alonzo Gee.

Advice: Wow. Faried was benched down the stretch on Friday in favor of Alonzo Gee and he has worked his way into coach Brian Shaw's doghouse. The Nuggets gave up 84 points in the first half and have looked horrible to start the year. The Manimal can be viewed as a buy-low guy.
    Wednesday, 7:29 pm
  • Nick Young could play in games next week
Nick Young (thumb) could return to the lineup for next week.

Advice: He's been limited in practice and everything has been going well on his re-evaluations. Young would likely hit the ground running once he gets back, but fantasy owners in standard leagues can leave him on the wire with Kobe Bryant around.
    Wednesday, 3:52 pm
  • Jimmy Butler (thumb) officially 'probable'
Jimmy Butler (thumb) is officially listed as 'probable' for Thursday's game vs. the Raptors.

Advice: Butler has been playing very well lately, averaging 18.6 points on 50.0 percent shooting in the Bulls' past five games, while logging almost 40 minutes per game. It's almost certain that he'll be in the starting lineup, but it's worth mentioning that Chicago is still including him on their injury report.
    Wednesday, 3:38 pm
  • Quincy Acy back in Knicks' starting lineup
Quincy Acy will return to the Knicks' starting lineup on Wednesday, playing PF with Carmelo Anthony shifting to SF.

Advice: Tim Hardaway Jr. goes back to the bench as a consequence, where he'll battle J.R. Smith for reserve playing time behind Iman Shumpert and Melo. Acy is averaging just 5.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 21.5 minutes as a starter this season, ruling him out as a standard-league option.
    Wednesday, 2:53 pm
  • Andre Roberson (foot) listed as out Wednesday
Andre Roberson (foot) is listed at out for Wednesday's game against Boston.

Advice: The defensive specialist will again be sidelined with his foot issue and Jeremy Lamb will draw another start. Roberson can be let go in almost all leagues while Jeremy Lamb will be a boom-or-bust play in the short term.

  • DeMarre Carroll (groin) is out on Wednesday
DeMarre Carroll (groin) will not suit up for Wednesday's game against the Jazz and Thabo Sefolosha will draw the start.

Advice: He injured his groin against the Knicks on Monday and was questionable coming into the game. Sefolosha will start but is not reliable enough to trust in standard leagues, while we may also get an extended look at Kent Bazemore who possesses a little more upside. We will consider Carroll day-to-day for now and update his status as needed.

  • Jarnell Stokes won't see action anytime soon
Jarnell Stokes won't see any action anytime soon according to coach Joerger.

Advice: "Jarnell Stokes is going to have a tough time playing. He's not going to play in front of those four guys at any point," Joerger said. "If someone turns an ankle, though, then he becomes very important." This news reiterates the fact that Stokes can be ignored in almost all fantasy leagues, as he will likely float between the Grizzlies and the D-league all season.

  • Marco Belinelli (groin) questionable for Fri.
Marco Belinelli (groin) was unavailable for Tuesday's game.

Advice: Belinelli was expected to miss 7-10 days as of Thursday, and the Spurs will assuredly play it safe with their veteran SG, so there are no guarantees that he'll be active vs. the Lakers on Friday. Corey Joseph, Danny Green and Manu Ginobili each get a few more minutes in his absence.

  • Jason Thompson starts, plays just 13 minutes
Jason Thompson started at PF on Tuesday but quickly took a backseat to Carl Landry, finishing scoreless with four rebounds and one assist in 13 minutes.

Advice: He's averaging 2.8 points on 28.6 percent shooting in the Kings' past five games, and has nearly as many turnovers (10) as combined assists, steals and blocks. Needless to say, he belongs on your waiver wire.
    Tuesday, 8:26 pm
  • Kosta Koufos chips in season-high 14 points
Kosta Koufos scored a season-high 14 points (5-of-5 FGs, 4-of-4 FTs) in 25 minutes off the bench on Tuesday, adding three rebounds and one block to help Memphis hold off the visiting Lakers.

Advice: Jon Leuer played just nine minutes and isn't a big part of the rotation right now, leaving Koufos as the first big man off the bench. His productivity is a great sight for Grizzlies fans, but it's hardly relevant in fantasy circles while Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph are healthy.

  • Jordan Hill posts strong double-double Tues.
Jordan Hill's streak of strong games continued on Tuesday with 13 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks in a loss to the Grizzlies.

Advice: The downside is that he shot just 6-of-17 from the field, and inexplicably launched a long jumper during a late-game attempt at a 2-for-1 possession. Hill began the season with a pair of duds but he's been terrific in L.A.'s past five games, contributing in every category but 3-pointers and steals.

  • Joakim Noah admits he still has work to do
Joakim Noah said he still has work to do after Chicago's win over the Pistons on Monday.

Advice: Noah scored 13 points with 14 rebounds and six assists during the win, so he's being a little bit hard on himself in saying, "I still have work to do, but I'll get there." The big man has strung together solid back-to-back performances after missing two games with an illness, so fantasy owners looking to buy low might want to try one last-ditch effort before Noah gets back to normal.
