  • Wayne Ellington starts at SG for Lakers
With Kobe Bryant sitting out on Wednesday, Wayne Ellington started at SG and had 11 points, two rebounds, two assists, two steals and a 3-pointer.

Advice: If Kobe goes down at some point, Ellington may be worth keeping an eye on, but that's about it. Rotoworld.com

  • Jordan Clarkson returns from calf injury
Rookie Jordan Clarkson returned from his calf injury and had six points, two rebounds and a steal in 15 minutes.

Advice: He hit 3-of-5 shots and looked great at Summer League this year, but it's still doubtful he'll be worth owning in fantasy leagues this year. Rotoworld.com
    33 minutes ago
  • Jeremy Lin plays well...off bench again
Jeremy Lin came off the bench again on Wednesday and had 13 points, three rebounds, five assists and a block on 5-of-9 shooting in 25 minutes.

Advice: We still don't know if Lin or Ronnie Price will start on opening night, but we're still listing Lin at No. 1 on the depth chart. Even if he comes off the bench, he should get the majority of minutes and is still the guy you'll want to target on draft night. We're hoping he's coming off the bench as a precaution for his tender ankle, but it sounds like Brian Shaw is considering using Lin with the reserves. Stay tuned. Rotoworld.com

  • Julius Randle racks up 17 & 8 vs. Blazers
Julius Randle had 17 points, eight rebounds, one steal and no blocks in Wednesday's win over the Blazers.

Advice: The Blazers sat most of their starters and Randle looked good against their bench players. He'll come off the bench for the Lakers, but tonight was a good sign for his fantasy value. Consider him late in your draft, but chances are you can find more of a sure thing to draft. He'll be playing behind Carlos Boozer (who didn't look great tonight) until further notice. Rotoworld.com

  • Ronnie Price quiet in another start
Ronnie Price got another start on Wednesday, finishing with eight points, three assists, two steals and two 3-pointers on 3-of-7 shooting.

Advice: Jeremy Lin came off the bench again and a position battle appears to be underway. But once Lin is completely over his ankle injury and the regular season starts, we still expect Lin to get the majority of minutes at PG - assuming Steve Nash is in street clothes. Rotoworld.com
    40 minutes ago
  • Robert Sacre starts, Jordan Hill sits
Robert Sacre started at center for the Lakers on Wednesday and had 10 points, eight rebounds and four assists on 4-of-6 shooting.

Advice: Jordan Hill got the night off, but is locked and loaded as the starter, for now. Sacre will play off the bench, but you've got to be in a pretty deep league for him to even be on the radar. Rotoworld.com
    42 minutes ago
  • Carlos Boozer quiet in win over 'Blazers'
Carlos Boozer hit 3-of-8 shots for eight points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals in 24 minutes against the Portland B-squad.

Advice: As usual, Boozer didn't block a shot, and it would have been nice to see him play better against the Blazers' bench (Damian Lillard was the only starter to play). Boozer is averaging 13.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and two steals over his last five games, but it's possible those numbers take a positive jump once the season starts. Julius Randle played well tonight, and is the biggest threat to Boozer struggling this season, but he's still worth a late draft pick in most leagues. Rotoworld.com

  • Chris Kaman scores 12 vs. Lakers
Chris Kaman played through a head injury on Wednesday and hit 5-of-7 shots for 12 points, one rebound, three assists, a steal and two blocks in 23 minutes.

Advice: He started for the Blazers, who rested all their regulars except for Damian Lillard, who played just 17 minutes. Kaman played fairly well against his former team and is having a good preseason, but will likely need an injury from LaMarcus Aldridge or Robin Lopez to make a difference in fantasy. Rotoworld.com

  • Jordan Clarkson (calf) will return on Wed.
Jordan Clarkson (calf) will return to the lineup on Wednesday.

Advice: He's likely going to play more minutes at shooting guard tonight, but he made it clear he's capable of being a combo guard. Clarkson has been one of the most impressive second-round picks of the 2014 draft and could have an impact with a couple injuries to the backcourt. He's only on the fantasy map in extremely deep leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Today, 4:56 pm
  • Lucas Nogueira to play on Wednesday
Lucas Nogueira (groin) will play on Wednesday.

Advice: He has been out all preseason with his groin injury and needed six weeks to recover from the injury over the summer. Nogueira is a big project and won't have fantasy value this season. Rotoworld.com
    Today, 4:07 pm
  • Mo Williams getting some rest on Wed.
Mo Williams will not play on Wednesday.

Advice: He's likely just getting rest and we'll let you know if anything comes up on the injury front. Williams might actually have some low-end fantasy value and compare to Jamal Crawford, but fantasy owners in standard leagues might want to swing for the fences instead. Rotoworld.com
    Today, 3:56 pm
  • Mike Miller in shooting slump this preseason
Cavs coach David Blatt attributed Mike Miller's preseason shooting slump to the second-unit players he's shared the court with.

Advice: "We didn't have a lot of opportunities to put Mike on the floor with the kind of lineups that are good for him," said Blatt. "Mike obviously is best for him when he's on the floor with a lot of the creative players so he can spot-up and do what he does best." Given the Cavs' depth on the wings, Miller's fantasy value is strictly limited to a handful of 3-pointers. Rotoworld.com

  • Jordan Clarkson (calf) remains day-to-day
Jordan Clarkson (calf) remains day-to-day after sitting out Tuesday's loss to Phoenix.

Advice: The rookie isn't a particularly appealing fantasy option, but there should be some minutes available to him in L.A.'s backcourt. He'll look to carve out a niche during L.A.'s final two exhibitions on Wednesday and Friday. Rotoworld.com
    Today, 10:31 am
  • Grizzlies waive PF Earl Clark
    Grizzlies waive PF Earl Clark.

Advice: Clark didn't make a big impression during training camp and his journeyman path through the NBA will have to continue in another city than Memphis. In five NBA season, he's played for the Suns, Magic, Lakers, Cavaliers and Knicks. Rotoworld.com
    Today, 9:37 am
  • Alex Len (finger) expects to return Wednesday
Alex Len (finger) practiced on Tuesday and expects to return for Wednesday's game vs. the Clippers.

Advice: He fractured his pinkie in a fluke accident during training camp and will wear a protective brace, but it'll be great to see him on the court prior to the regular season. Len slots in as a backup C for the time being, and he's not yet part of the equation for standard-league owners. Rotoworld.com

    Injured
  • Chris Kaman bitten, tested for concussion
Chris Kaman received three stitches on his head after being accidentally bitten by Nuggets C Timofey Mozgov.

Advice: Kaman said he felt "pretty good" after the game, but the Blazers tested him for a concussion and he's uncertain to play on Wednesday. He isn't holding the bizarre incident against Mozgov, either. "I went back pretty hard and I must've hit him in the chest," Kaman said. "He kind of folded over and his teeth went down on my head." Today, 6:14 am
  • J.J. Hickson (knee) plays 15 minutes Tuesday
J.J. Hickson (knee) returned to action on Tuesday, scoring four points with two rebounds in 15 minutes.

Advice: He took a seat after reaching his medical limit for playing time, and it's uncertain how long he'll face restrictions. The six-year veteran averaged 11.8 points, 9.2 rebounds, 0.7 steals and 0.7 blocks in favorable circumstances last year, and nobody needs to worry about him in standard leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Today, 6:07 am
  • Ronnie Price hands out 10 assists as starter
Ronnie Price had seven points, one 3-pointer, four rebounds, 10 assists and one steal in another start at PG on Tuesday, earning praise from coach Byron Scott before the game.

Advice: There's actually a chance that Price could start ahead of Jeremy Lin on opening night, but we'll believe it when we see it. With Steve Nash is already suffering a recurrence of nerve-related pain, however, Price is creeping onto the fantasy radar as the Lakers' presumptive backup PG. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 10:02 pm
  • Jeremy Lin has 15 pts w/ five dimes off bench
Jeremy Lin returned from two sprained ankles on Tuesday, notching 15 points (including 8-of-10 FTs), four rebounds, five dimes and two steals off the Lakers' bench.

Advice: Ronnie Price started at PG and coach Byron Scott said he likes how Lin has played with the second unit. Lin was returning from injury and we still expect him to get the nod on opening night. He'll hold solid value even if he does begin the season the focal point of the second unit's offense, and the return of Nick Young could also bump him back into the starting five. If you drafted Lin, or plan to, there's no need to panic. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 9:57 pm
  • Nate Robinson (ACL) still on 15-minute limit
Nate Robinson started at PG in place of Ty Lawson (hamstring) on Tuesday, but he finished with just four points and two assists in nine minutes.

Advice: Denver's medical staff had Nate on a 15-minute limit, which should slowly increase during the first few weeks of the regular season. The 30-year-old is coming back from ACL surgery, and his backup role all but guarantees he won't help fantasy owners. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 9:28 pm
  • Mo Williams nearly double-doubles in win
Mo Williams nearly double-doubled off the bench on Tuesday with 13 points, nine assists, two steals and a 3-pointer on 5-of-9 shooting Tuesday.

Advice: This is a reminder that Williams can still play. He's going to have trouble getting a lot of run behind Ricky Rubio, but could be a source of instant offense off the Wolves bench. If you're desperate at point guard late in your draft, he might be worth a look. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 7:42 pm
  • Report: Ronnie Price to start at PG Tuesday
Despite an earlier report that Jeremy Lin would start at point guard for the Lakers on Tuesday, Mark Medina is reporting that Ronnie Price will get the call.

Advice: Lin is still expected to play and will come off the bench after missing three straight game with a sprained ankle. Either way, Lin should be a nice, cheap source of dimes and point guard minutes this season. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 5:25 pm
  • Chris Kaman playing well off Blazers bench
Chris Kaman is averaging 10.5 points and 8.0 rebounds in his four games off the bench for Portland this preseason.

Advice: If you're in a deep league that requires you starting two centers, Kaman may be worth a look at the end of your draft. And if Robin Lopez or LaMarcus Aldridge go down at some point, he'll become a must-own player. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 5:04 pm
  • Jeremy Lin not starting on Tuesday
Jeremy Lin, who has missed three straight games with a sprained ankle, said he will start on Tuesday, but it's not going to happen.

Advice: Ronnie Price will start in his place, but Lin is expected to return from a three-game absence with a sprained ankle off the bench. The Lakers are running very thin at point guard and if Lin can stay healthy this season, he's going to get a ton of minutes and production. He looks like an enticing sleeper pick once the big names are gone. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 5:01 pm
  • Nate Robinson starts again for Ty Lawson
Nate Robinson will start at PG for the Nuggets on Tuesday, in place of injured Ty Lawson (hamstring).

Advice: Robinson appears to be fully recovered from his knee surgery, while JaVale McGee is a game-time decision as he makes his way back from a leg injury. Along with Robinson, Arron Afflalo, Danilo Gallinari, Kenneth Faried and Timofey Mozgov. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 4:42 pm
  • Jeremy Lin (ankles) ready to go vs. Phoenix
Jeremy Lin (sprained ankles) will return to action during Tuesday's exhibition vs. the visiting Suns.

Advice: "Ankles are finally feeling better," Lin wrote. "Excited to get back on the court tonight!" Steve Nash's ongoing sciatica pain has him questionable for the start of the regular season, and the starting PG job should belong to Lin all season regardless of Nash's health. He has enough statistical versatility to return mid-round value, and his late-round ADP makes him a solid value in most fantasy drafts. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 2:54 pm
  • Alex Len (finger) goes through full scrimmage
Alex Len (finger) scrimmaged with the Suns for the first time since breaking his right pinky finger on Monday, and he's hoping to be able to play in 1-2 preseason games.

Advice: Len may suit up for Tuesday's preseason game vs. the Lakers, but it's more likely that he'll return either Wednesday vs. the Clippers or Friday vs. the Jazz. He's going to be entering the 2014-15 season in a reserve role, and has really struggled with staying healthy as he was only able to suit up for 42 games last season. Len isn’t someone worth targeting in standard leagues. Rotoworld.com

  • Ronnie Price a lock to make the team
Ronnie Price is a lock to make the Lakers, according to Eric Pincus of the L.A. Times

Advice: He's playing on a non-guaranteed deal, but has been terrific in camp with Steve Nash (back) and Jeremy Lin (ankle) out. This is bad news for rookie Jordan Clarkson's fantasy value in extremely deep leagues and Price has very little value, as well. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 6:14 am
  • Julius Randle thrives in second-half surge
Lakers rookie PF Julius Randle finished Sunday's game with a strong second half, on his way to eight points, five rebounds and two blocks in just 20 minutes off the bench.

Advice: "[Randle] has a world of talent," coach Byron Scott said after the game. "It’s about [doing it consistently]." Consistency may be hard to come by for Randle, a rookie on a lottery-bound team who has barely played with the team's starting PGs. Although he's a sketchy draft-day value in most fantasy leagues, he's worth keeping an eye on as the season progresses. Rotoworld.com
    Sunday, 9:26 pm
  • Carlos Boozer ties career-high w/ six steals
Carlos Boozer tied his career-high with six steals during Sunday's exhibition win, adding 19 points, nine rebounds and one block in 28 minutes vs. the Lakers.

Advice: Boozer made 6-of-12 FGs and 7-of-7 FTs, taking full advantage of Enes Kanter's defensive limitations. He looks determined to hold off rookie Julius Randle for the starting PF job and shouldn't have much trouble early in the season. Just keep in mind that once the losses mount coach Byron Scott may cede to reality and unleash Randle to Boozer's detriment. Rotoworld.com
    Sunday, 9:19 pm
  • Ronnie Price gets 10 assists in 38 minutes
With Steve Nash (nerve damage) and Jeremy Lin (ankle) unavailable for Sunday's exhibition, Lakers' PG Ronnie Price delivered 10 assists in 38 minutes.

Advice: Price finished with six points, two rebounds, 10 dimes, four steals, one block and three turnovers against an inexperienced Jazz backcourt. The absence of rookie G Jordan Clarkson (calf) is yet another reason for Price's increased activity, and despite tonight's solid line he's not an option in average fantasy leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Sunday, 9:19 pm
  • Jeremy Lin sits out again w/ sprained ankle
Jeremy Lin (ankle) will sit out Sunday's exhibition, as expected, allowing A.J. Price to start at PG.

Advice: Lin is likely to start at PG even if Steve Nash's nerve damage subsides prior to opening night, which seems very doubtful. He averaged 15.6 points, 1.4 threes, 3.3 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.2 steals on a 36-minute-per-game basis with Houston last year, which should set fantasy owners' expectations for 2014-15. Rotoworld.com
    Sunday, 4:59 pm
  • Jeremy Lin's end in HOU not how he envisioned
Jeremy Lin's exit from Houston was not how he envisioned it, but he's not bitter towards the franchise that traded him for close to nothing.

Advice: "When I first got [to Houston], I was supposed to be the guy and they were supposed to kind of hand the torch to me," said Lin. "And I ended up getting traded away basically for nothing. Actually, they had to give up a draft pick to convince someone else to take me. Pretty much given away for nothing. Definitely not how I envisioned it." Jeremy Lin is now in a much better situation in LA, and with Steve Nash unable to stay healthy, Lin will see heavy minutes in the Lakers' rotation. He makes for an excellent late-round selection with plenty of upside. Rotoworld.com
    Sunday, 7:28 am
  • Jeremy Lin (ankle) unlikely for Sunday's game
Jeremy Lin (ankle) is unlikely to suit up for Sunday's exhibition against the Jazz.

Advice: He was spotted getting up some jumpers at Saturday's practice which is a good indication that he is making progress from his recently sprained ankle. We expect him to be ready for the season opener and the Lakers are just being cautious at the moment. Lin projects as a solid late-round selection as he should see plenty of minutes in LA's backcourt this season. Rotoworld.com
    Saturday, 1:25 pm
  • Jordan Clarkson (calf) likely to play Tuesday
Jordan Clarkson (calf) was deemed likely to play on Tuesday according to coach Byron Scott.

Advice: Clarkson injured his calf in a preseason game against the Wizards a week ago and now looks ready to return. While he has looked strong in camp, there is simply not enough playing time for Clarkson to make a dent on fantasy rosters. He is off the radar in standard leagues for the moment. Rotoworld.com
    Saturday, 11:22 am
  • Jeremy Lin (ankle) hopeful to play Sunday
Jeremy Lin (ankle) is hopeful that he'll be able to suit up for Sunday's preseason game vs. the Jazz.

Advice: The Lakers could certainly use him back, as they've been running with Ronnie Price as their starting point guard with both Lin and Steve Nash (back) on the sidelines. While Lin may not enter the season as the team's starting point guard, he still makes for an intriguing late-round selection with some upside, as there's basically no way Nash makes it through a full season. Lin should be able to offer some assists, steals, and 3-pointers to a fantasy squad, while hitting free throws at an efficient rate. Rotoworld.com
    Friday, 12:54 pm
  • Carlos Boozer looks good on Thursday
Carlos Boozer played 28 minutes against one of his former teams on Thursday during a 119-86 loss, scoring 17 points with three rebounds, one assist, two steals and one block.

Advice: He's posting some decent scoring lines in the preseason, but the Lakers look lost on defense. Boozer isn't going to be a highly-coveted guy in your draft, but he should put up some nice points and boards totals. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 10:14 pm
  • Julius Randle dealing with blisters
Julius Randle was dealing with blisters on his heels in Thursday's game against the Jazz, finishing with four points, one rebound, one assist and one turnover in 11 minutes.

Advice: Coach Byron Scott said Randle could have gone back in and mentioned the rookie has to play "harder for longer." Randle was impressive in summer league, but the transition to the NBA game isn't happening right away. He's not really a target in standard leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 10:10 pm
  • Jeremy Lin (ankle) out Thursday vs Jazz
Jeremy Lin (ankle) will sit out the Lakers' preseason game against the Jazz on Thursday.

Advice: Lin started some light running, and is targeting Sunday for a return to action on the court. Resting his ankle may become an even bigger priority for the Lakers now that Steve Nash's health is already a major concern. His fantasy value jumps dramatically if he indeed takes over starting duties. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 1:14 pm
  • Alex Len (finger) will not play on Thursday
Alex Len (finger) will not play in the Suns' preseason game against the Spurs on Thursday.

Advice: Suns coach Jeff Hornacek did say that he was cleared to start working out, so there is a bit of optimism for the second-year big man. Len's inability to stay healthy is well documented and will keep him off fantasy radars for the time being. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 11:23 am
    Injured
  • Alex Len going through shootaround
Alex Len (finger) was back on the practice court on Thursday.

Advice: He had his right pinkie taped and is not likely at 100 percent yet. Len hasn't been able to stay healthy in two summer leagues, two training camps and missed time last year in his rookie season. He's too risky to draft in almost any league despite some optimistic comments from the team. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 10:56 am
    Injured
  • Nate Robinson will get some rest
Nate Robinson will not play on Thursday.

Advice: It's just some rest after his debut to the lineup last week. Robinson will only be a backup and is not worth drafting in most leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 10:45 am
  • Jeremy Lin does some light running
Jeremy Lin (ankle) did some light running at practice on Wednesday and hopes to return to game action on Sunday.

Advice: He's getting closer to a return and he should have plenty of minutes on his plate. Lin will be asked to drive a lot and it should help him facilitate the offense. Fantasy owners will probably have to reach a round or two in order to pick him up, but it looks like it could be worth it. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 1:50 pm
  • Julius Randle plays poorly again
Julius Randle made just 2-of-7 from the field for four points with six rebounds and three turnovers in 19 minutes.

Advice: He's showing he's a rookie and he's not going to become a consistent NBA player over night. Coach Byron Scott said last week that the game is moving to fast for Randle, which means he's not going to be able to count on his isolation game like he did in college or at summer league. He's losing some momentum as a late-round target. Rotoworld.com
    Oct 13, 6:23 am
  • Ronnie Price logs team-high 33 minutes for LA
Ronnie Price played a team-high 33 minutes off the Lakers' bench during Sunday's game, finishing with nine points, two boards, three assists and one steal.

Advice: In a bizarre preseason twist, Price's shoe fell off during the game and he threw it at Andre Iguodala to disrupt his dribble. The move earned him a technical foul but shouldn't incur further punishment. If Steve Nash's health fails him, as it very well might, Price could find himself as L.A.'s default backup PG.
