    • Kobe Bryant says plan is to be ready for camp
Kobe Bryant confirmed that the plan is for him to be ready to play come September when the Lakers open up their training camp.

Advice: Bryant, speaking with the media the day after undergoing season-ending surgery to repair his right rotator cuff, said that his shoulder is feeling "sore, but it's okay." We'll continue to monitor Bryant's status closely, but it's worth noting that a return in September puts him one month ahead of his initial nine-month timeline, so there's a decent chance he's not ready to go by training camp. • Jordan Clarkson being mentored by Steve Nash
Jordan Clarkson said that he had his first face-to-face with Steve Nash on Wednesday, and Nash's words helped him in facing Derrick Rose.

Advice: The Lakers pulled out a surprise win on Thursday, upsetting the Bulls 123-118 in a double overtime victory, and Clarkson was the Lakers' third-leading scorer with 18 points. He also was second in minutes on the night with 43, and it's clear that he's ahead of Jeremy Lin in the rotation, and LA is going to make an effort to develop their rookie. He's capable of providing some low-end stats in standard leagues, so give him a look if you're looking for some points, assists, and steals on the wire. Rotoworld.com

    • Robert Sacre scores nine in decent line
Robert Sacre fouled out in 30 minutes against the Bulls on Thursday with nine points, nine rebounds, four assists and two blocks.

Advice: This was arguably his best start of the season. In his previous three, Sacre averaged 6.0 points, 7.7 boards, 0.7 blocks and 0.7 steals in 25.3 minutes. He's probably not going to stick in the starting unit all season, but give him a look in deep leagues if those aforementioned averages appeal to you. Rotoworld.com

    • Jordan Clarkson drops 18 points in 43 minutes
Jordan Clarkson played 43 minutes against the Bulls on Thursday during a double-overtime win, scoring 18 points with four rebounds, four assists, two steals, two blocks and one 3-pointer.

Advice: It's becoming abundantly clear that Clarkson has his starting job locked down. He is a playmaker for the Lakers and they'll need someone like that in their starting unit. Plus, he's been exceptional at beating guys off the dribble in his rookie season. Clarkson won't be a fantasy stud because of his turnovers and sub-par shooting, but the steals and other stats make him worth a look in standard leagues. Rotoworld.com

    • Tony Snell scores 10 off the bench
Tony Snell scored 10 points in 23 minutes off the bench against the Lakers on Thursday with two rebounds, one assist, one steal and one 3-pointer.

Advice: He did start the second half, but didn't play down the stretch. Snell has seen his usage rate climb, but there is just no ceiling for him in the vast majority of fantasy leagues. Rotoworld.com

    • Tony Allen returns, plays 21 minutes
Tony Allen played 21 minutes in his return to the lineup on Thursday with eight points, nine rebounds, one steal and one turnover.

Advice: He missed his last two games with an ankle sprain. Allen has seen his minutes drop with the acquisition of Jeff Green, so he's going to be a tough player to own in standard leagues. Rotoworld.com

    • Lou Amundson plays well in 21 minutes
Lou Amundson played 21 minutes against the Pacers on Thursday with 17 points, three rebounds, one assist and one block.

Advice: With Amare Stoudemire and Cole Aldrich out, he's really the only capable center on the team. Amundson did not even play in the fourth quarter and he was well on his way to a big game. Amundson could barely get minutes last season, but these are your 2014-15 New York Knicks we're talking about here. He's worth a look in deep leagues. Rotoworld.com

    • Lavoy Allen (knee) out for game on Thursday
Lavoy Allen is dealing with sore right knee and will not return to Thursday's game against the Knicks.

Advice: He hobbled back to the locker room under his own power with only a slight limp. This injury doesn't sound serious, but the timing is interesting because he leapfrogged Luis Scola for the No. 2 power forward spot tonight. He left the game with eight points, five boards and one assist in nine minutes. Rotoworld.com

    • Blake Griffin praises Austin Rivers' play
Blake Griffin praised Austin Rivers' play during a recent interview.

Advice: "I just love his aggression on offense and his willingness to attack the basket," Griffin said of Rivers. "And defensively, on the ball, he’s a dog on the ball. It’s tough to get around him." Rivers made a blip on the radar during Wednesday's game, scoring 12 points off the bench. However, this outing comes with an asterisk, as J.J. Redick (back spasms) did not play in that one. We need to see consistency from Rivers before we can get behind adding him in most leagues. Rotoworld.com

Shelvin Mack (calf) was spotted getting up some shots and going through some court work during Thursday's practice.

    • Kupchak says Kobe will be ready for camp
Lakers' GM Mitch Kupchak said that Kobe Bryant will be ready for training camp next season.

Advice: "We spoke last night, he's in great spirits," said Kupchak of Bryant. "He's excited about the prognosis and being ready for training camp. The big key is we have to improve the talent level on the team." This is an interesting statement, because Kobe's initial timetable of nine months would have him out until November of next year. Tony Allen (ankle) will play against the Nuggets on Thursday.

Advice: Allen will return after missing the Grizzlies' last two games, but he doesn't have much fantasy value fighting for minutes with Jeff Green, Courtney Lee, and Vince Carter. Allen can be left on waiver wires in standard leagues while his return will put a dent in the fantasy values of his aforementioned teammates. Rotoworld.com

Jorge Gutierrez will play against the Magic on Thursday, according to head coach Jason Kidd.

Advice: Fresh off signing a 10-day contract on Wednesday, Kidd said Gutierrez will be available for Thursday game. "He thinks defense first, and offense comes second," Kidd said about his former player on the Nets. "He finds open guys and gets to basket." Gutierrez isn't likely to see many minutes as a bench player for the Bucks, so he can safely be left on the wire. Rotoworld.com

    • James Michael McAdoo headed to D-League
James Michael McAdoo will head back to the D-League when his 10-day contract with the Warriors expires.

Advice: McAdoo has averaged just 4.7 points and 1.7 rebounds in three games with the Warriors. He'll head back to the D-League in the hopes of hooking on with another team, but the 22-year-old can be ignored by fantasy owners. Rotoworld.com

    • Lou Amundson to finish season with Knicks
Lou Amundson will sign a deal on Tuesday that will keep him with the Knicks for the rest of the 2014-15 season.

Advice: While Amundson has been a solid addition to the Knicks' depleted frontcourt, his fantasy value is limited to deeper leagues and owners who are in dire need of blocks. The journeyman has averaged 4.7 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 2.0 blocks over his last 10 games, but his 23.0 minute average over that span points to the risk that comes with starting Amundson on any given night. Kyle Singler (nose) said will no longer wear a protective mask for the broken nose he suffered on January 21.

Advice: Singler was held scoreless for the second time in 143 NBA starts on Wednesday and will look to get back on track against the Rockets on Saturday. The 26-year-old is averaging just 6.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.4 three-pointers over his last five games and doesn't provide much fantasy value outside deeper leagues. Rotoworld.com

Austin Rivers hit 5-of-8 shots and two 3-pointers for 12 points, one rebound and one assist in 22 minutes off the bench on Wednesday.

Advice: He likes playing for his dad and was the only Clipper to score off the pine tonight. Put him on your radar, but it will take more than an injury to J.J. Redick (out tonight with back spasms) to give him fantasy value. Rotoworld.com

Tiago Splitter was a DNP-CD on Wednesday.

    • Lou Amundson grabs 10 boards in start
Lou Amundson started at center and had five points, 10 rebounds and four blocks in Wednesday's surprising win over the Thunder.

Advice: Amundson has started in five straight games and has gotten a little better in each one. And when we say "a little," we mean it. He's averaging 4.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.0 blocks over that stretch, which means he's probably not going to help your fantasy team, unless you're willing to punt points for a couple blocks. Phil Jackson is probably livid the Knicks won this game (their ninth of the season), but you can't say they're not trying to lose as long as Amundson is a starting NBA center. Rotoworld.com

Marcus Thornton scored 15 points in 14 minutes against the Wolves on Wednesday with two assists, one block and one 3-pointer.

Advice: His minutes have been hanging around in the teens over his last five, averaging 8.4 points, 1.0 boards, 0.4 steals and 0.8 triples in 15.8 minutes per game. Thornton doesn't play enough to be grabbed in most leagues. Rotoworld.com

    • Kobe Bryant out nine months after surgery
Kobe Bryant had surgery to repair his right rotator cuff on Wednesday, and he's expected to miss nine months.

Advice: This is a longer-than-expected timetable which would keep him out until roughly next November, so it's very unlikely he'll be in uniform for the start of the 2015-16 season. The Black Mamba's unfortunate injury will open up more playing time for Jordan Clarkson, Jeremy Lin, Nick Young and especially Wayne Ellington, the last of whom is a very nice pickup as the Lakers' starting SG. • Bucks sign Jorge Gutierrez to 10-day contract
The Bucks have signed Jorge Gutierrez to a 10-day contract on Wednesday.

Advice: He actually played for coach Jason Kidd when he was in Brooklyn, so the move does make some sense. However, Gutierrez likely won't be a big part of the rotation, so owners in most leagues can safely leave him on the wire for now. Also, the Bucks did not have to waive another player in order for this deal to work, as Larry Sander's suspension gave them the ability to add another player. If/when Sanders returns, the Bucks will then have to cut ties with somebody. Rotoworld.com

The Lakers blew a double-digit lead on Tuesday despite Jordan Clarkson's season-high 18 points, three rebounds, three assists, one steal and one turnover in 37 minutes.

Advice: This game was an outlier in every department for Clarkson -- he approached his season-high in nearly every category and made his first 3-pointer in over six weeks, having gone 0-of-8 in 10 games since Dec. 15. Clarkson is a realistic pickup for anyone needing a PG, as coach Byron Scott has expressed at least a "10 to 15 game" commitment to him as a starter. Rotoworld.com

It's safe to assume that Kobe is done for the season but he's performing his due diligence to explore every rehab possibility, and he and the Lakers should make an official announcement early this week. Advice: Patrick Beverley will have this effect on opposing PGs and Clarkson gets a pass for the dud. Tiago Splitter shifted to the bench for Sunday's game against the Bucks, scoring eight points with two boards, two assists and one steal in 17 minutes.

Kyle Singler took only three shots in 26 minutes on Sunday, making one of them to finish a loss to the Raptors with four points, two rebounds and two assists.

Advice: Singler hasn't been worth owning in 14-team leagues this season and he'll now have an adjustment period with D.J. Augustin taking the reins of Detroit's offense. There's not enough upside here to bother with him outside of deep leagues. Rotoworld.com

Coach Byron Scott heaped praise on rookie Jordan Clarkson after his first career start on Friday against the Spurs.

Advice: "I am very happy with the way Jordan played," Scott said. "He just looked like he was very poised and the moment wasn’t too big for him." Clarkson scored 11 points with four assists and three boards, but given his high usage rate he should see his numbers improve with continued opportunity. There is still no word on whether or not his move to the starting lineup is permanent, but the Lakers would be wise to give their younger players a chance to develop in a lost season. Advice: This is a successful outing for him in the grand scheme of things but there are a lot of questions in L.A. right now, starting with Jeremy Lin's (DNP-CD) future and then heading right into whether or not Clarkson's game translates into fantasy value. Robert Sacre will start against the Spurs on Friday.

Advice: He'll bump Ed Davis to the bench. Sacre has been a DNP-CD in five of his last six games and the book is kind of out on him. He can't defend very well in the post and is more of a jump-shooting big man. It's also worth noting that Coach Bryon Scott said Sacre is only starting because Tarik Black is hurt. The Lakers are expecting Kobe Bryant (shoulder) to miss the rest of the season due to a torn rotator cuff, according to Ramona Shelburne of ESPN.com.

Advice: The announcement will likely come at some point today to make it official, but the Lakers may take the weekend to decide on his treatment. Bryant hasn't been able to complete the last three seasons of his career due to an Achilles injury in 2012-13, a knee injury in 2013-14, and now this shoulder issue this season. • MRI confirms calf strain for Shelvin Mack
An MRI confirmed a left calf strain for Shelvin Mack, and he remains out for Wednesday's game vs. Indiana.

Advice: Mack is the third-string point guard in Atlanta, so his absence doesn't mean much with regards to fantasy. Dennis Schroder will pick up most of his reserve minutes, but as long as Jeff Teague is healthy, both Mack and Schroder belong on the waiver wire in standard leagues. Rotoworld.com

    • Louis Amundson signs 2nd 10-day deal w/Knicks
Louis Amundson has signed a second 10-day deal with the Knicks.

Advice: While Amundson drew the start on Monday, he's only averaged 5.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists, and 2.0 blocks in his two games with the Knicks. Those numbers can help owners in deeper fantasy leagues, but owners in standard leagues can feel free to leave Amundson on the wire. Rotoworld.com
