  • Dewayne Dedmon returns from personal leave
Dewayne Dedmon returned from a personal absence and had eight points, 13 rebounds and three blocks in Tuesday's preseason overtime win over the Cavs.

Advice: He's an interesting player, but Orlando's front court is too deep for Dedmon to be worth a pick in most fantasy leagues. Today, 7:36 pm
  • Ersan Ilyasova plays well off bench
Ersan Ilyasova came off the bench on Tuesday and hit 6-of-17 shots and four 3-pointers for 17 points and six rebounds in 28 minutes.

Advice: He's still expected to start at power forward when the games matter and if he can stay healthy, could be primed for a bounce-back season in Detroit. Today, 7:08 pm
  • Tyler Johnson leaves after hard fall
Heat G Tyler Jackson injured his back and left Tuesday's preseason game after taking a hard fall.

Advice: He stayed in the game for a few minutes but then headed to the locker room. We doubt the injury is serious, but there's no reason for him to play in pain in a preseason game. He was last seen sitting on the bench with an ice pack on his bruised lower back. Today, 4:38 pm
  • C.J. Miles (bronchitis) will not play Tuesday
C.J. Miles (bronchitis) will not play in Tuesday's preseason game against the Pistons.

Advice: Miles has plenty of time to rest up before the regular season, so he should be fine. He'll likely start at small forward for the Pacers this season, and he's worth considering as a late-round flier in deep leagues for owners looking to shore up the 3-point category. Today, 3:35 pm
  • Alan Anderson undergoes ankle surgery
Alan Anderson underwent surgery on Tuesday to remove a small bony fragment in his left ankle, and a timeline for his return has yet to be determined.

Advice: This is the same ankle that required surgery during the offseason, and the second procedure all but guarantees he'll be spending some time on the sidelines when the regular season begins. Anderson isn't worth drafting in any format. Today, 3:15 pm
  • Monta Ellis (right knee) will play on Tuesday
Monta Ellis (right knee sprain) will play in Tuesday's preseason game against the Pistons.

Advice: He was listed as doubtful on Monday, but Monta really doesn't like missing games. In fact, Ellis has only sat out a mere two games in the past three seasons, which is impressive to say the least. He'll be one of the main guys on offense for the Pacers this season, and is well worth a mid-round selection for owners seeking some points and steals with a handful of 3-pointers and assists. Today, 2:44 pm
  • Robinson (wrist) confident he'll play Sunday
Thomas Robinson (wrist) said he'll "for sure" be ready to play when the Nets take on the 76ers on Sunday.

Advice: He also sounded confident that he'd be able to play in Wednesday's preseason game vs. the Celtics, so we should have another update following Wednesday morning's shootaround. Robinson doesn't bring a lot to the stat sheet aside from rebounding, so it's unlikely he's able to establish himself as anything more than a low-end asset in deep leagues while the Nets are healthy. Today, 1:39 pm
  • Evan Turner (knee) will play Wednesday vs. BK
Evan Turner (right knee strain) will likely start Wednesday's game vs. the Nets.

Advice: Turner missed Boston's first two preseason games with a very minor knee injury, but he'll be back in action on Wednesday. His spot in the rotation isn't clear at this point, but he could play some more minutes at shooting guard this season with Jae Crowder pushing for playing time at small forward. Turner's return to the lineup may result in a DNP-CD for Jonas Jerebko. Today, 1:02 pm
  • Jazz waive Jack Cooley on Tuesday
The Jazz waived C Jack Cooley on Tuesday.

Advice: With the guaranteed contracts of Derrick Favors, Trevor Booker, Trey Lyles, Rudy Gobert and Tibor Pliess already on the roster, Cooley never really had a real shot at making the team. Today, 12:48 pm
  • Thomas Robinson uncertain for Wednesday
Thomas Robinson (wrist) said he's uncertain if he'll play on Wednesday.

Advice: Robinson is hoping to be cleared before Wednesday's game, but it sounds like he's getting closer to returning to action. The 24-year-old has some rebounding upside, but he's not worth more than late-round flier in standard fantasy leagues. Today, 10:56 am
  • Andrea Bargnani goes through full practice
Andrea Bargnani (left hamstring) practiced in full on Tuesday.

Advice: This is good news for Il Mago as he's been limited in practice thus far, but fantasy owners shouldn't get too excited as Bargnani isn't the poster child for staying healthy. The 29-year-old is worth a look for fantasy owners in deeper leagues, but he's better off left for someone else to worry about. Today, 10:07 am
  • Thabo Sefolosha may play on Wednesday
There is a good chance Thabo Sefolosha (leg) will play on Wednesday according to Chris Vivlamore.

Advice: Vivlamore reports there is no final word on Sefolosha's availability for Wednesday, but it looks like he's in line to make his preseason debut. While Sefolosha should see an increase in minutes this season, he's more of a defensive specialist and shouldn't be on fantasy rosters in standard leagues. Today, 9:59 am
  • Giannis Antetokounmpo won't play Tuesday
Giannis Antetokounmpo (rest) won't play Tuesday night agains the Cavs.

Advice: Alphabet's absence on Tuesday is nothing for fantasy owners to worry about as he's just getting a rest day, per head coach Jason Kidd. As long as he stays healthy, the 20-year-old is primed to continue his breakout trajectory and should be considered in the middle rounds of fantasy drafts. Today, 9:49 am
  • Derrick Favors has off offensive night
Derrick Favors made just 2-of-11 from the field and 5-of-10 from the line for nine points with 10 rebounds, one assist, two steals and three blocks in 30 minutes against the Blazers on Monday.

Advice: Those are some ugly shooting numbers, but he filled it up elsewhere. Favors has a little extra life in his legs and was very active on both ends. While lots of his teammates get more attention, don't be surprised to see Favors explode this year as a target in the fifth or sixth round. Yesterday, 9:23 pm
  • Rudy Gobert has a quiet game on Monday
Rudy Gobert scored just three points with seven rebounds and one block in 19 minutes against the Blazers.

Advice: His preseason numbers aren't good in his four outings, averaging 5.3 points, 6.5 boards, 0.8 blocks and 1.5 turnovers in 19.4 minutes. Gobert hasn't performed well around the basket and he's not being quite as aggressive on the shot blocking. There's no reason to be concerned and he remains a strong second round pick. Yesterday, 9:19 pm
  • Less Is More: Kyle Lowry explodes for 40
Kyle Lowry put on a clinic against the Wolves on Monday, making 13-of-18 from the field for 40 points with three rebounds, three assists and six 3-pointers in just 28 minutes.

Advice: Wow. Lowry lost a lot of weight this summer and it's helped him transform his game. Coach Dwane Casey said that Lowry will play off the ball more, which would be a positive based on his six treys tonight. Also, maybe the weight loss will help with his health. He's worth a look at the turn of the second and third rounds. Yesterday, 9:02 pm
  • Alan Anderson (ankle) still out on Monday
Alan Anderson (left ankle) did not practice on Monday.

Advice: After having offseason surgery in order to address the issue, Anderson still does not have a timetable to return to the floor. Once he is finally cleared to return, Washington will bring him along very slowly, and his projected role for the Wizards doesn't warrant enough upside to roster him in fantasy leagues. Yesterday, 10:03 am
  • Monta Ellis (knee sprain) doubtful for Tues.
Monta Ellis (right knee sprain) is doubtful to play in Tuesday's preseason game vs. Detroit.

Advice: This is the first we've heard of a knee issue for Ellis, and while the preseason disclaimer applies, it's not something we're going to take lightly. Poised for a nice year in his inaugural season with the Pacers, Ellis can't afford to miss too much time before the real action gets rolling. Yesterday, 9:49 am
  • Bargnani (hamstring) does half of practice
Andrea Bargnani (left hamstring) went through half of Monday's practice.

Advice: It's not clear what half of practice Bargnani participated in, but at least half of practice is better than no practice at all. After calling the injury minor over a week ago, Bargs still can't get back on the floor in full. Let someone else deal with this constant headache. Yesterday, 9:45 am
  • Robinson returns to non-contact practice
Thomas Robinson (wrist) returned to non-contact practice on Monday.

Advice: Robinson's wrist has been an issue for about a week, but it isn't expected to linger for much longer. When he does get back on the floor, Robinson should be a cheap source of rebounds in deeper fantasy formats. Yesterday, 9:43 am
  • Dewayne Dedmon misses game on Sunday night
Dewayne Dedmon (personal) did not play on Sunday.

Advice: It's not clear how long Dedmon's absence may extend, but it's not expected to be anything more than a day-to-day situation. Yesterday, 7:09 am
  • Alan Anderson (ankle) ruled out for Sunday
Alan Anderson (ankle) will not suit up for Sunday's preseason game vs. Paschoalotto Bauru.

Advice: Anderson still isn't practicing with the team after undergoing offseason ankle surgery, and he doesn't yet have a clear return date in site. He'll have a minimal role with the Wizards while the team is healthy, and is not worth a draft pick in most leagues. Sunday, 1:54 pm
  • Evan Turner (knee) practices on Sunday
Evan Turner (right knee strain) returned to practice on Sunday.

Advice: Turner said that he's been running the past two days and he "feels fine," so he should be good to go for Wednesday's preseason matchup with Brooklyn. Turner played in all 82 games for the Celtics last season, compiling averages of 9.5 points, 5.5 assists, 5.1 rebounds, 1.0 steal and 2.4 turnovers per game through 27.5 minutes of action. However, it could be tough for him to return to those averages with the Celtics improved depth, so he's not worth much more than a late-round flier in deep leagues. Sunday, 11:25 am
  • Bargnani, Robinson held out of practice
Andrea Bargnani (hamstring), Chris McCullough (knee) and Thomas Robinson (wrist) did not practice on Sunday.

Advice: The Nets don't play again until Wednesday, so it's not a surprise to see them continue to be cautious with their players. Bargnani and Robinson are considered day-to-day, and both players will be competing for limited minutes off the bench behind Brook Lopez and Thaddeus Young. Sunday, 10:03 am
  • Thabo could play on Wednesday
Thabo Sefolosha (leg) could get limited minutes on Wednesday.

Advice: He was cleared of charges this past week and will be in the news for filing a lawsuit against the NYPD. Sefolosha should get more minutes this season, but his lower usage rate makes him an undesirable pick in most leagues. Saturday, 11:45 am
  • Thomas Robinson (wrist) out Saturday
Thomas Robinson (wrist) will not play on Saturday vs. the 76ers.

Advice: The revenge game will have to wait. Robinson could potentially be the first big off the bench for the Nets if he can outplay Andrea Bargnani, so he could be a nice source of boards in very deep leagues. Saturday, 8:38 am
  • Andrea Bargnani (hamstring) out Saturday
Andrea Bargnani (hamstring) will not play vs. the 76ers on Saturday.

Advice: Bargnani has been sidelined for nearly a week and the Nets are obviously going to be cautious with him considering his lengthy injury history. Bargnani is way too unreliable to trust in fantasy leagues. Saturday, 8:38 am
  • Derrick Favors scores 13 points
Derrick Favors (groin) scored 13 points with seven rebounds, one assist, two steals and one block against the Suns on Friday.

Advice: He was outplayed at times by Markieff Morris, but at least he looked healthy in his 26 minutes. Favors had a nice flow on the offensive side and figures to have more success in his age-23 season. Friday, 10:04 pm
  • Derrick Favors will play on Friday
Derrick Favors (groin) will play on Friday night against the Suns.

Advice: He went through shootaround and will get to go up against Markieff Morris in what should be a faster paced game. Favors is a solid target in the middle rounds. Friday, 5:40 pm
  • Derrick Favors goes through shootaround
Derrick Favors (groin) went through shootaround on Friday and is questionable to play against the Suns on Friday.

Advice: It's a good sign to see he's doing some on-court work from his sore right groin and he should be ready in the near future. Favors doesn't have a track record of groin injuries and there's no reason to think this will be a major lingering issue. Friday, 1:27 pm
  • Andrea Bargnani (hamstring) misses practice
Andrea Bargnani (hamstring) missed practice again on Friday.

Advice: Bargnani is one of the most injury-prone players in the league and is expected to come off the bench in Brooklyn, so there is no reason to look his way in most fantasy formats. Bargnani has now been on the shelf for five straight days. Friday, 11:11 am
  • Thomas Robinson (wrist) misses practice
Thomas Robinson (wrist) did not participate in practice on Friday.

Advice: In case you missed it, Robinson took a hard fall in Monday's preseason game and hasn't played since. The injury is still said to be minor, but the Nets have every right to exercise caution during the preseason. With Thaddeus Young and Brook Lopez set to soak up a ton of minutes in the frontcourt, Robinson isn't an option in standard leagues. Friday, 11:10 am
  • Thabo Sefolosha found not guilty
Thabo Sefolosha was found not guilty of all three charges on Friday.

Advice: This is great news for Sefolosha and the Hawks in general, but it sounds like he will now open a lawsuit against the NYPD. Sefolosha is the favorite to start at small forward this season once he is healthy after recovering from right ankle surgery, but his game doesn't translate to fantasy very well and owners outside of deeper leagues can ignore him. Sefolosha will not join up with the Hawks in time for Friday's game vs. the Pelicans. Friday, 7:21 am
  • Kyle Lowry returns, looks great in win
Kyle Lowry returned from a one-game absence on Thursday, scoring 25 points with two rebounds, six assists, one steal and four 3-pointers.

Advice: He had a sore groin on Monday after his wonderful debut on Sunday with 26 points. The weight loss seems to be helping Lowry quite a bit, but we can't totally overreact to the preseason numbers. He's still worth a look near the turn of the second and third rounds of drafts. Thursday, 9:58 pm
  • Monta Ellis will start at point guard vs. ORL
With George Hill (sprained right ankle) sidelined, head coach Frank Vogel will start Monta Ellis at point guard for Thursday's exhibition vs. the Magic.

Advice: Glenn Robinson III, C.J. Miles, Paul George, and Ian Mahinmi will join Ellis in the starting lineup for tonight's game, and we could get an extended look at Joseph Young, who has played phenomenally throughout the preseason thus far. The ball may not move as well with Ellis running the point, so it'll be interesting to see how long Vogel goes with this lineup. Thursday, 2:26 pm
  • Anderson (ankle) still not practicing w/ WAS
Alan Anderson (left ankle) has yet to go through any practices with the Wizards.

Advice: Anderson underwent surgery to remove some bone spurs in his left ankle this offseason, and the recovery period is taking a bit longer than expected. He'll be fighting for reserve minutes with Jared Dudley (back), Gary Neal and Kelly Oubre this season, so it's safe to avoid him in standard leagues on draft day. Thursday, 1:21 pm
  • Thomas Robinson (wrist) out Thursday vs. DET
Thomas Robinson (wrist) will not play in Thursday's preseason game vs. Detroit.

Advice: The wrist injury is believed to be minor, so we wouldn't read too much into his absence from an early preseason game. That being said, Robinson will be coming off the bench this season behind Thaddeus Young and Brook Lopez, so it'll be tough for him to establish himself as a viable option in standard leagues. Thursday, 12:44 pm
  • Andrea Bargnani (hamstring) out Thursday
Andrea Bargnani (hamstring) will miss Thursday's preseason game vs. the Pistons.

Advice: It's hard to get excited about a guy that consistently misses major chunks of the regular-season. We wouldn't recommend drafting Bargnani in any league. Thursday, 12:35 pm
  • Evan Turner (knee) will not play Thursday
Evan Turner (right knee strain) will miss Thursday's exhibition game against Real Madrid.

Advice: Turner had a nice run with the Celtics last season, averaging 9.5 points, 5.5 assists, 5.1 rebounds, 1.0 steal and 2.4 turnovers per game although his below-average shooting from the field (42.9 percent) and lack of a 3-point shot (0.4 three-pointers per game) really limited his upside. He'll have some increased competition for playing time this season with Jae Crowder eating into his minutes, so he's not a great guy to target in standard leagues. Thursday, 12:14 pm
  • Evan Turner (knee) probable for Thursday
Evan Turner (right knee strain) is listed as probable for Thursday's preseason game vs. Real Madrid.

Advice: Turner had a solid 2014-15 season for the Celtics with averages of 9.5 points, 5.5 assists, 5.1 boards and 1.0 steal per game, but his role is set to decline due to the emergence of Jae Crowder. The Celtics are one of the deepest teams in the Eastern Conference and Turner's ceiling isn't great in standard leagues, so he is not a recommended fantasy target. Wednesday, 12:36 pm
  • Thomas Robinson (wrist) misses practice Wed
Thomas Robinson (wrist) did not practice on Wednesday.

Advice: He took a hard fall during Monday's preseason game, but he's not concerned about the injury, and he will travel with the team to Detroit for Thursday's preseason game. He's not a great target in standard leagues playing behind Thaddeus Young and Brook Lopez. Wednesday, 10:59 am
  • Bargnani (hamstring) misses practice on Wed
Andrea Bargnani (hamstring) missed his second consecutive day of practice on Wednesday.

Advice: While the injury isn’t believed to be serious, this is just a reminder of how often Bargnani finds himself dealing with various ailments. We'd recommend letting another owner deal with the headache of owning Il Mago on draft day. Wednesday, 10:47 am
  • Rudy Gobert sits after first quarter for Jazz
Rudy Gobert played the entire first quarter and then sat for the Jazz on Tuesday night, finishing with five points and six rebounds on 2-of-4 shooting in just 12 minutes.

Advice: We love Gobert this season and you need to keep in mind that he played just one quarter tonight. He should be an outstanding fantasy center to own this season. Wednesday, 12:25 am
  • Giannis Antetokounmpo quiet in start
Giannis Antetokounmpo started at forward for the Bucks on Tuesday's preseason game and had six points, seven rebounds, two steals and a great dunk in just 17 minutes.

Advice: Kris Middleton was at the other forward spot with Jabari Parker out (knee surgery) and had 10 points, one rebound and two steals in 17 minutes. Middleton had the dunk of the night over Jimmy Butler, but once Parker is ready to go, the Bucks' rotation is going to become a bit discombobulated. As of now, both Middleton and Giannis are worth drafting in the middle rounds of all leagues. As a reminder, Antetokounmpo is suspended for Game 1 of the regular season. Tuesday, 8:51 pm
  • Monta Ellis scores 10 in Pacers win
Monta Ellis hit 5-of-9 shots for 10 points and one assist in 21 minutes in Tuesday's preseason win.

Advice: With George Hill exiting with a right ankle injury, we were expecting a little more from Ellis, but he's going to score a lot of points for the Pacers this season, regardless of who else is healthy in Indy. Rodney Stuckey was highly disappointing with one point in 17 minutes, but would stand to see a boost if Hill's ankle injury keeps him out of the preseason. Tuesday, 8:35 pm
  • Alan Anderson (ankle) will not play on Tues
Alan Anderson (ankle) will not suit up for Tuesday's preseason game vs. the Sixers.

Advice: Anderson has yet to be cleared for basketball activities, and he'll be joined on the sidelines by Jared Dudley (back) and Ish Smith (ankle). None of these guys will have value in standard fantasy leagues while the Wizards are healthy. Tuesday, 2:46 pm
  • Derrick Favors (sore groin) out Tuesday
Derrick Favors (sore right groin) will not suit up for Tuesday's preseason game vs. the Lakers.

Advice: It is the norm for teams to be extremely cautious with their starters during preseason action, and given that Favors doesn't have a history of dealing with groin injuries, we wouldn't read much into his absence from Tuesday night's game. Favors benefited from playing next to Rudy Gobert last season, compiling averages of 16.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.0 steal and 1.7 blocks per game after the All-Star break, and he'll make for a quality mid-round selection on draft day. Tuesday, 1:35 pm
  • Andrea Bargnani misses Tuesday practice
Andrea Bargnani (right left hamstring) missed Nets practice on Tuesday.

Advice: Bargnani's injury isn't thought to be serious, but it's never a good thing to see an injury-prone player dealing with injuries before the regular season even starts. While Bargnani should see decent minutes for the Nets, his risk outweighs his reward for owners in standard fantasy leagues. Tuesday, 10:31 am
  • Evan Turner set to miss first preseason game
Evan Turner (right knee strain) is expected to miss Tuesday's preseason opener.

Advice: Turner will be evaluated before the game, but it's likely the Celtics will play it safe with the 26-year-old. Celtics coach Brad Stevens said Turner's injury "doesn't sound overly serious", but it's likely he'll miss at least one preseason game. Avery Bradley and Jae Crowder will pick up some extra preseason minutes in Turner's place. Tuesday, 8:11 am
  • Bargnani says hamstring injury not serious
Andrea Bargnani said his left hamstring tightness is not serious and that he'll be back "very soon" on Monday.

Advice: Bargnani missed Monday's preseason opener and that sound you heard was the basketball world rolling its eyes. There isn't a scenario in which we'd remove the injury-risk tag from his profile. Oct 5, 8:16 pm
  • Robinson double-doubles with 12 and 16
Thomas Robinson double-doubled in Monday's preseason opener, scoring 12 points on 6-of-11 shooting with 16 rebounds, two steals and two blocks over 26 minutes.

Advice: If Robinson can just focus on rebounding and energy numbers he could carve himself a low-to-mid level role in the Nets' rotation. But nobody should overreact to a game against international competition, and even if Robinson does turn his career around his fantasy stat set isn't that great. Just keep an eye on him from afar for now. Oct 5, 8:09 pm
  • Thomas Robinson starts alongside Brook Lopez
Thomas Robinson will start at PF for the Nets on Monday, as coach Lionel Hollins wants to see T-Rob play alongside Brook Lopez.

Advice: Thaddeus Young is the undisputed starter and this is merely a preseason experiment with no long-term repercussions. T-Rob is still 24 years old and he's shown flashes of improved play in recent seasons, even averaging 8.8 points, 7.7 rebounds and 0.7 steals in only 18.5 minutes for Philadelphia last year. He's on the radar in deep leagues, but that's about it. Oct 5, 2:56 pm
  • Thabo Sefolosha's trial begins in Manhattan
Thabo Sefolosha was at a Manhattan criminal court on Monday, where jury selection took place in his trial to contest charges of resisting arrest.

Advice: Opening statements will follow on Tuesday and the result of the case could determine whether he'll face any punitive measures from the NBA. Sefolosha is still recovering from right ankle surgery, leaving him questionable for opening night, but once healthy he should start at SF ahead of Kent Bazemore and Tim Hardaway Jr. Oct 5, 2:12 pm
  • Andrea Bargnani will not play on Monday night
Andrea Bargnani (tight left hamstring) will not play in Monday's preseason game.

Advice: Lionel Hollins says he won't play until he's ready. Bargs' hamstring was so famous that it should have had its own name last season, but there is no indication this is anything more than precautionary. He's expected to play a sizable reserve role for the Nets, but Bargnani is not someone we're looking to draft in fantasy leagues. Oct 5, 7:57 am
  • Ersan Ilyasova the favorite to start at PF
Ersan Ilyasova is the favorite to start at power forward for the Pistons.

Advice: This should have been somewhat obvious, but now we get additional confirmation. Acquired in an offseason trade, Ghostface Ilya is worth gambling on toward the end of your draft, but keep in mind he's played in fewer than 60 games in back-to-back seasons and lacks any kind of real upside. Oct 5, 7:47 am
  • Evan Turner dealing with right knee strain
Evan Turner (right knee strain is uncertain to play in Tuesday's preseason game.

Advice: Turner is expected to be reevaluated before the contest, and a decision about his availability will likely be made at that point. Considering where we are in the preseason, it wouldn't be surprising to see him held out of the lineup. Jae Crowder and Avery Bradley could pick up a couple extra minutes in the Celtics' first preseason game if Turner sits out. Oct 5, 6:02 am
  • Rudy Gobert flirts with double-double in win
Rudy Gobert looked great during his 25 minutes of action on Sunday, scoring 10 points on 3-of-6 shooting (4-of-9 from the stripe) to go with eight rebounds, one assist, one block and one turnover in a win over the Lakers.

Advice: Gobert controlled the paint throughout the contest, and he was a major reason why Los Angeles shot just 28.9 percent from the field. Once he was inserted into the starting lineup last season, Gobert compiled averages of 10.6 points, 12.4 rebounds, 2.8 blocks and 1.0 steal per game. We're expecting those numbers to jump during his third NBA season, so taking him towards the turn of the first and second rounds makes sense. Oct 4, 10:12 pm
  • Derrick Favors scores 16 pts w/ nine boards
Derrick Favors was solid during Utah's preseason win over Los Angeles on Sunday, scoring 16 points (7-of-15 FGs, 2-of-4 FTs) with nine boards, one steal and one block in just 24 minutes.

Advice: Favors will again be one of the go-to-guys on offense for Utah this season, and at just 24 years old, there's no reason why he can't take another step in his development. Through 74 games last season Favors compiled averages of 16.0 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.7 blocks and 0.8 steals per game, and he'll make for a quality mid-round selection on draft day. Oct 4, 10:05 pm
  • Kyle Lowry (sore groin) will not play Monday
Kyle Lowry (sore groin) will not play in Monday's preseason game vs. the Warriors.

Advice: Head coach Dwane Casey maintained that the injury was nothing serious, and he's just looking to get some of his young guys involved during Toronto's second preseason game. We'll continue to monitor Lowry, but given that he hasn't had any groin issues since 2012, we're not going to overreact. He was fantastic in his first preseason game, and at 29 years old, he should have no problem returning to last season's averages of 17.8 points, 6.8 assists, 4.7 boards, 1.6 steals, 1.9 three-pointers and 2.5 turnovers per game. Oct 4, 7:44 pm
  • Kyle Lowry explodes for 26 points in 22 mins
Kyle Lowry looked fantastic during Sunday's preseason win over the Clippers, scoring 26 points on 7-of-10 shooting (11-of-12 from the stripe) to go with two assists, two steals and one 3-pointer in just 22 minutes of action.

Advice: Head coach Dwane Casey said that Lowry has been dealing with a sore groin, although the fact that he was deployed in a meaningless preseason game would indicate that this is nothing to worry about. Lowry looks noticeably slimmer, and hopefully the weight that he lost this offseason will help him put together a healthy 2015-16 campaign. While he is a bit of an injury risk, Lowry's ability to light up the stat sheet on any given night makes him well worth an early-round selection on draft day. Oct 4, 6:52 pm
  • Ersan Ilyasova (hip) could return on Monday
Stan Van Gundy said that Ersan Ilyasova (hip), Marcus Morris (toenail) and Adonis Thomas (Achilles) could return to practice on Monday.

Advice: They’ve put in a lot," Van Gundy said. "They’re tired, they’re banged up, but really we got through the week with nothing that’s going to be a long-term thing so feel pretty good. We just got guys banged up." None of the injuries were considered serious, so this isn't a surprise. Ilyasova has been an injury risk for a while now, so there will always be some concern when he is hobbled. As the starting power forward in Detroit, Ilyasova has an excellent opportunity in front of him and is worth a gamble in the later rounds. Oct 4, 10:26 am
  • Dallas making some tweaks?
The Mavs are expected to make some changes in their style of offense this season.

Advice: The first thing to jump out here is they're likely doing less pick-and-roll. Dallas was first on PNR possessions with the ball handler taking shots -- Monta Ellis is gone. That also could mean they have a faster pace. If Deron Williams gets hurt, their offense could be a complete mess. Oct 3, 1:30 pm
  • Ersan Ilyasova dealing with a sore hip
Ersan Ilyasova is dealing with a sore right hip.

Advice: He suffered the injury during Saturday's scrimmage, but it doesn't sound serious. Ilyasova is one of the most injury prone players in the league, so this is a good reminder why his value is so low in fantasy. That being said, he has an excellent opportunity in Detroit as the starting power forward, so he is worth a look in the later rounds. Consider him day-to-day for now. Oct 3, 9:27 am
  • Monta Ellis (back) questionable for Saturday
Monta Ellis (back) is questionable for Saturday's preseason game vs. the Pelicans.

Advice: Ellis left practice on Thursday with a stiff back, but it sounds like a minor issue. Ellis is one of the toughest players in the NBA and is as durable as they come, but don't be surprised if the Pacers err on the side of caution since it is just an exhibition. We will have an update later this evening. Oct 3, 8:23 am
