  • Pascal Siakam listed as starter
Pascal Siakam is listed as the starter at power forward against the Cavs on Friday.

Advice: Coach Dwane Casey is going to play the matchup and said the rookie isn't locked in as the starter. The Raptors did not go small on Wednesday, but that might change tonight. Siakam did a fine job against Tobias Harris on Wednesday. He's not an option in most leagues, of course. 50 minutes ago
  • Stephen Zimmerman will be active Friday
The Magic will activate Stephen Zimmerman for Friday's game against the Pistons.

Advice: In a corresponding move, Arinze Onuaku will be deactivated. However, Bismack Biyombo will return from his one-game suspension tonight, so it is unlikely Zimmerman sees the floor, unless Biyombo, Nikola Vucevic and/or Serge Ibaka get into serious foul trouble. Today, 3:05 pm
  • Frank Kaminsky out, Brian Roberts active
Frank Kaminsky (foot) will not play against the Heat on Friday.

Advice: His injury in the preseason finale will cost him at least two games. Kaminsky is only day-to-day, so consider him questionable for the weekend. Interestingly, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist played seven minutes at power forward to help out sans Kaminsky. All the the forwards should split the minutes with more run for Cody Zeller at center, too. Today, 3:04 pm
  • Jarell Martin gets option picked up
The Grizzlies have exercised the third-year contract option on Jarell Martin.

Advice: He has dealt with a foot injury for a large portion of his career and he did not play in the opener. Martin has no fantasy value right now. Today, 2:05 pm
  • Bulls pick up options on players
The Bulls have picked up the fourth-year option on Doug McDermott and third-year options on Bobby Portis and Jerian Grant.

Advice: While all three of these guys haven't played too well, just about any first-round player will get his option picked up this side of Jan Vesely. Portis will need a few things to happen to have fantasy value, but he has upside. Today, 1:48 pm
  • Mike Scott will not play on Saturday
Mike Scott (knee) will not play against the 76ers on Saturday.

Advice: Scott did travel wit the team for the game. He did not play in the opener, which is due to a nagging injury to his left knee. Scott would be in the rotation, but the Hawks didn't really need him with Mike Muscala behind Paul Millsap. Today, 1:04 pm
  • Darrell Arthur (knee) out for Saturday
Darrell Arthur (knee) will not play against the Blazers on Saturday.

Advice: He has been limited since his September knee scope back. Arthur has suffered a number of leg injuries in his career, so the Nuggets will take it easy on him. Kenneth Faried, Wilson Chandler and Nikola Jokic all get tiny bumps. Today, 11:52 am
  • Nene Hilario (thigh) probable to play Friday
Nene Hilario (bruised right thigh) is probable to play Friday night vs. Dallas

Advice: Nene came off the bench to play 22 minutes in the Rockets season-opening loss to the Lakers. Nene's fantasy value this season is limited, due to his role as a reserve behind starting center Clint Capella. Today, 10:04 am
  • Channing Frye (personal) out indefinitely
Channing Frye (personal matter) is out indefinitely and will miss at least the next two games.

Advice: Terribly sad news out of Cleveland, as we find out Frye has been excused from the team indefinitely after his mother, Karen, lost a long battle with cancer Thursday. It is obviously very difficult to predict how long Frye might be out as he deals with this heartbreaking situation. Today, 9:28 am
  • Josh McRoberts (foot) not available on Fri.
Josh McRoberts is not available to play on Friday vs. the Hornets.

Advice: Oddly, McRoberts is no longer listed on Miami's injury report. However, Coach Spoelstra told reporters McRoberts would not be available on Friday. It appeared McRoberts would play on Wednesday, after looking healthy in pregame warmups, but he received a DNP-coach's decision. We will await further word on McRobert's situation. Today, 9:10 am
  • Jason Smith returned to action on Thursday October 27. Today, 12:40 am
  • Marreese Speights scores 15 in 16 minutes
Marreese Speights played just 16 minutes on Thursday, but hit 4-of-8 shots and two 3-pointers for 15 points and two rebounds in a 114-106 win over the Blazers.

Advice: This is reminiscent of some of his lines in Golden State and he is the main back up for DeAndre Jordan. DAJ could get some bench time late in games due to his poor free throw shooting, so Speights may end up having some value. But 16 minutes is not very much run and it will likely take an injury to DAJ for Speights to be worth a look in most fantasy leagues. Yesterday, 11:24 pm
  • Luc Mbah a Moute invisible starter for Clips
Luc Mbah a Moute started at SF for the Clippers on Thursday and missed both his shots, scored one point and played just 17 minutes.

Advice: He was awful as a starter last season and we've seen nothing that would suggest that will change this year. Ignore him until further notice. Yesterday, 11:08 pm
  • Noah Vonleh comes back to earth Thursday
Noah Vonleh, who had 11 points, a block and a 3-pointer on Tuesday, played just 10 minutes and finished with six points, a turnover, and nothing else in Thursday's loss to the Clippers.

Advice: He was a hot pickup in 30-team leagues after Tuesday's performance, but Thursday brought us all back to reality. if the production isn't enough of a reason to be concerned, the 10 minutes should seal the deal. Yesterday, 11:00 pm
  • Kosta Koufos gets 24 minutes on Thursday
Kosta Koufos scored eight points with seven rebounds, three assists, one steal and three turnovers in 24 minutes against the Spurs on Thursday.

Advice: He's actually playing well and earned more playing time than his 13 minutes on Wednesday. It was a better matchup for him in this game and he likely tops out at 24 minutes most nights. He's more of a desperation asset in deep leagues due to low upside. Yesterday, 10:15 pm
  • Luc Mbah a Moute listed as starter
Luc Mbah a Moute is listed as the starter for the Clippers against the Blazers on Thursday.

Advice: He wasn't locked in as the starter, but he was the favorite to get the job. Mbah a Moute is usually in the bottom five for usage rate among starters, which should be the case again. He doesn't have much value. Expect to see a host of Clippers to see minutes at the three. Yesterday, 7:22 pm
  • Jason Smith good to go
Jason Smith is available to play on Thursday against the Hawks.

Advice: He saw some starts at power forward while Markieff Morris was out, but he'll slide over to center with Ian Mahinmi (knee) out. Smith won't have much value. Yesterday, 4:13 pm
  • Frank Kaminsky (foot) questionable for Friday
Frank Kaminsky (foot) is questionable to play against the Heat on Friday.

Advice: He suffered the foot strain last week and missed the opener. Kaminsky has been walking around fine and he wasn't ruled out for the opener until Wednesday afternoon. If he can go, he'll likely play directly behind Marvin Williams -- Williams and Kaminsky only played seven preseason minutes together. His upside isn't high enough to own in standard leagues. Yesterday, 2:53 pm
  • Josh McRoberts not on the injury report
Josh McRoberts (foot) is not on the injury report for Friday's game.

Advice: He's been a mystery for about an entire year due to his troublesome foot. McRoberts went through pregame warmups on Wednesday and was in good spirits, so he could be available for this game. He will likely be logging most of his minutes at center, which could hurt Willie Reed's playing time. Yesterday, 12:48 pm
  • Pascal Siakam not locked in at PF
Pascal Siakam is not locked in at the starting power forward position, according to coach Dwane Casey.

Advice: A Casey power forward not being locked in might be his calling card. He will keep it close to the vest, which has been the story for a while. In fact, Siakam was asked about starting before Wednesday's game and he didn't tip his hand either. He has a lot of athleticism and his defense is ahead of expectations, but there's not much fantasy value just yet. Yesterday, 11:33 am
  • Mike Scott out Thursday vs Wizards
Mike Scott (left knee) will miss Thursday's game against the Wizards.

Advice: We'll consider Scott as day-to-day as he was unable to practice on Wednesday, but he shouldn't be owned in any fantasy leagues. Yesterday, 8:50 am
  • Kosta Koufos starts, plays only 13 minutes
Kosta Koufos started Wednesday's game but didn't do much in the boxscore, finishing with two points, four boards and one assist in 13 minutes.

Advice: Koufos impacted the game more than his drab stat-line suggests, and we expect him to continue starting alongside DeMarcus Cousins until further notice. Even as a starter, Koufos should be unowned outside of deep leagues. Wednesday, 9:49 pm
  • Pascal Siakam logs 22 minutes as starting PF
Raptors rookie Pascal Siakam started on Wednesday and had four points, nine rebounds and one steal in 22 minutes of action.

Advice: Jared Sullinger is expected to miss 2-3 months following foot surgery, which has gifted the starting PF job to Siakam. He's the first Raptors rookie to start on opening night since Jonas Valanciunas in 2012, which says something about how much coach Dwane Casey trusts him. Deep-league owners should grab him and see what happens, but everyone else can wait for a compelling reason to make the add. Wednesday, 8:28 pm
  • Josh McRoberts (foot) sits out season opener
Josh McRoberts (foot) did not play in Miami's season opener on Wednesday.

Advice: The veteran was listed as questionable and he was reportedly in good spirits after pre-game warmups, but the Heat opted to hold him out again. When he does return, he'll be in the middle of a crowded rotation that includes Luke Babbitt, James Johnson, Derrick Williams and Willie Reed. Wednesday, 7:28 pm
  • Kosta Koufos confirmed as starter
Kosta Koufos will start against the Suns on Wednesday.

Advice: He was fully expected to see the start next to DeMarcus Cousins with over half of his minutes next to him in the preseason. Koufos is still only a deep-league option. Wednesday, 6:51 pm
  • Pascal Siakam getting the start vs. DET
Pascal Siakam will start against the Pistons on Wednesday.

Advice: Welcome to the NBA. The Raptors love Patrick Patterson off the bench, so they'll get Siakam in there to keep continuity in the second unit. The rookie has quickness to guard stretch fours and runs the floor very well. He won't have much fantasy value, though. Wednesday, 4:12 pm
  • Kosta Koufos listed as starter
Kosta Koufos is listed as a projected starter with Willie Cauley-Stein coming off the bench against the Suns on Wednesday.

Advice: It's not surprising with Cauley-Stein only playing 38 of his 124 preseason minutes next to DeMarcus Cousins. Koufos has slimmed down this summer and has shown a better ability to close out on jumpers against him. He likely won't be too involved in the offense, so there isn't much fantasy upside. Wednesday, 1:06 pm
  • Mike Scott (knee) doesn't practice Wednesday
Mike Scott (left knee) did not participate during Wednesday's practice.

Advice: With the Hawks at full strength, Scott's playing status is largely irrelevant in fantasy hoops. Wednesday, 10:52 am
  • Darrell Arthur (knee) ruled out for opener
Darrell Arthur (knee) won't play Wednesday vs. New Orleans.

Advice: Arthur is still recovering from knee surgery, and he recently experienced some swelling after going through a full practice on Monday, so he could miss a few more games. Once cleared, he'll likely be brought along slowly, so there's no reason to own him anywhere. Wednesday, 9:46 am
  • Frank Kaminsky (foot) ruled out for opener
Frank Kaminsky (right foot) will not suit up for Charlotte's regular-season opener against Milwaukee on Wednesday.

Advice: Marvin Williams (finger) is going to play, so there won't be much of a fantasy impact sans Kaminsky. Look for Michael Kidd-Gilchrist to log some extra minutes at the four-spot. Wednesday, 9:11 am
  • Josh McRoberts (foot) questionable for opener
Josh McRoberts (foot) is being listed as questionable for Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Magic.

Advice: McRoberts has been cleared for contact, so there's a chance he could get on the floor for limited minutes Wednesday night. He's not a fantasy option anywhere, though. Wednesday, 7:04 am
  • Noah Vonleh scores 11, hits 5-of-5 shots
Noah Vonleh hit all five of his shots vs. the Jazz on Tuesday, finishing with 11 points, one rebound, one block and one triple in 16 minutes.

Advice: He wasn’t expected to be in the rotation a few weeks ago, but he earned a role with a very strong preseason. Vonleh showed a smooth touch on his jumpers tonight and he made a strong case for more minutes. The Portland frontcourt is very crowded, so deep-league owners can simply just keep an eye on him. We'll let you know if his role grows. Tuesday, 9:36 pm
  • Jarell Martin (foot) questionable for opener
Jarell Martin (plantar fasciitis in right foot) is questionable to play in Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Timberwolves.

Advice: Martin is progressing, but still seeing just a limited workload at practices, so chances are he'll begin the year on the sidelines. There's no fantasy value here. Tuesday, 3:36 pm
  • Darrell Arthur (knee) questionable for opener
Darrell Arthur (knee surgery) is questionable to play in Denver's regular-season opener against New Orleans on Wednesday.

Advice: He still hasn't gone through a full practice, so chances are he'll spend Wednesday's game on the sidelines. Arthur is a non-factor in all leagues while the Nuggets are healthy. Tuesday, 12:27 pm
  • Frank Kaminsky unlikely to play in opener
Frank Kaminsky (foot strain) is unlikely to play in Wednesday night's season-opener.

Advice: Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer states that it "doesn't sound like" Kaminsky will play in the season-opener. Kaminsky has been making progress, as yesterday he shed the protective walking boot he had been wearing over the weekend, but it appears as if he won't make his season debut to later this week. Tuesday, 9:45 am
  • Frank Kaminsky is ‘making lots of progress'
Hornets forward Frank Kaminsky (foot strain) is "making lots of progress" and is "questionable" for the season-opener.

Advice: Kaminsky, who suffered a right foot strain in Friday’s exhibition game, was well enough Monday to be walking in sneakers, rather than the protective boot he wore over the weekend. "He said he felt a lot better," coach Steve Clifford said of Kaminsky. "He did a ton [of rehabilitation] Sunday and then he was back in here this morning. I guess you’d call him questionable [for the season-opener], but he’s making lots of progress." Monday, 3:23 pm
  • Josh McRoberts (foot) cleared for contact
Josh McRoberts (left foot) has been cleared for contact, and hopes to make it back to the court "sooner rather than later."

Advice: Additionally, McRoberts said he's spent most his time at the five-spot during Heat practices, so it sounds like Erik Spoelstra envisions McBob operating as Hassan Whiteside's primary backup. It's unlikely that McRoberts will be able to see much more than 20 minutes a night in a reserve role, and he's still without an official timetable to return, so there's no reason to draft him anywhere. Monday, 10:11 am
  • POR picks up options on Vonleh and Napier
Portland has exercised their fourth-year team options on Noah Vonleh and Shabazz Napier.

Advice: Neither guy is expected to make an impact in standard fantasy leagues this season. Monday, 9:18 am
  • Pascal Siakam could start sans Sullinger?
Pascal Siakam will have the opportunity to start for the Raptors with Jared Sullinger (foot surgery) out indefinitely.

Advice: Patrick Patterson will more than likely be getting the bulk of the power forward minutes, but Dwane Casey prefers to bring him off the bench, so there's a chance the rookie’s development is accelerated with the loss of Sullinger. Siakam did start in Toronto's final four preseason games, and Casey recently praised the rookie for his activity on both ends of the floor. That being said, even as a starter it'll be tough for Siakam to get enough minutes to matter in standard leagues. DeMarre Carroll and Patterson remain the primary beneficiaries sans Sullinger. Monday, 8:18 am
  • Darrell Arthur (knee) limited at practice Sun
Darrell Arthur (knee surgery) was a limited participant during Sunday's practice.

Advice: Michael Malone is hopeful that Arthur will be able to ramp of his activities during Monday and Tuesday's practice, but he remains questionable for Denver's regular-season opener against the Pelicans on Wednesday. Arthur won't be on the court enough while the team is at full strength to justify a roster spot in fantasy hoops. Sunday, 12:12 pm
  • Frank Kaminsky (foot) questionable for opener
Frank Kaminsky (right foot sprain) is questionable to play Charlotte's regular-season opener against Milwaukee.

Advice: Marvin Williams (finger) is going to play on opening night, so Kaminsky's status is more or less meaningless. If Kaminsky is out on Wednesday, it'll be Michael Kidd-Gilchrist earning some extended minutes at the four-spot, with Roy Hibbert and Spencer Hawes splitting the center minutes. Sunday, 11:40 am
  • Luc Mbah a Moute (knee) practices Saturday
Luc Mbah a Moute (right knee contusion) returned to practice on Saturday.

Advice: The veteran expects to be available for the season opener. Even though he's likely to start at small forward, there is absolutely no fantasy value in any format to be seen here. Saturday, 1:52 pm
  • Frank Kaminsky suffers right foot sprain
Frank Kaminsky suffered a right foot sprain on Friday.

Advice: That's not good and it was more than just the originally reported soreness. Kaminsky will likely be getting further evaluation this weekend to determine his prognosis and treatment. For now, we will consider him between doubtful and questionable for the opener. If he and Marvin Williams (finger) can't go, the Hornets will have to play multiple players out of position. Friday, 6:29 pm
  • Frank Kaminsky (right foot) to locker room
Frank Kaminsky has gone to the locker room to be evaluated for a sore right foot.

Advice: It didn't look bad and hopefully it's just soreness. Kaminsky was absolutely dominated by Karl-Anthony Towns and the Hornets have no incentive to put him back out there. With Marvin Williams (finger) questionable for the season opener, the Hornets may need Frank the Tank. Friday, 5:46 pm
  • Josh McRoberts out again on Friday
Josh McRoberts (foot) will not play on Friday.

Advice: The Heat are in no rush to bring him back. McRoberts has no timetable to return. Friday, 3:21 pm
  • Lowry, DeMar, DeMarre, Pascal & JV starting
Kyle Lowry, DeMar DeRozan, DeMarre Carroll, Pascal Siakam and Jonas Valanciunas will start on Friday against the Wizards.

Advice: The Raptors really like Patrick Patterson in the second unit, so Siakam starting again suggests he might be thrust into the first unit in the games Jared Sullinger (foot) misses. There should also be a good amount of Carroll at the four. Friday, 2:51 pm
  • Luc Mbah a Moute limited in practice
Luc Mbah a Moute (knee) was limited in practice on Friday.

Advice: He has a right knee contusion, but he's fully expected to be ready to start the season. Mbah a Mouse could start for the Clippers, but he's coming off a tiny 9.3 usage rate last year. There is not enough upside to draft him almost anywhere. Friday, 11:18 am
  • Darrell Arthur (knee) ruled out Friday
Darrell Arthur (knee surgery) will not play on Friday vs. Dallas.

Advice: There was some hope that Arthur could go after he took some contact in Thursday's practice, but the Nuggets aren't going to take any chances. The Nuggets going with a big lineup of Nikola Jokic and Jusuf Nurkic hurts Arthur's outlook, especially since he's behind Kenneth Faried on the depth chart. Arthur can be considered questionable for the opener. Friday, 10:06 am
  • Darrell Arthur (knee) questionable for Friday
Darrell Arthur (knee surgery) took some contact during Thursday's practice, and there's a chance he can suit up for Friday's preseason finale against the Mavericks.

Advice: Friday will mark Day-10 of Arthur's initial 10-14 day timetable, so if he wakes up feeling fine after going through Thursday's practice, he could certainly be on the floor Friday night. That being said, he's not going to have any value in fantasy hoops this season while the team is healthy. Thursday, 4:09 pm
  • Walker, Batum, MKG, Kaminsky, Hibbert start
Kemba Walker, Nicolas Batum, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Frank Kaminsky and Roy Hibbert will be in the starting lineup for Thursday's preseason matchup with the Heat.

Advice: Marvin Williams is dealing with a broken finger, and Cody Zeller (knee) still isn't 100 percent, so Kaminsky will have the opportunity to run with the starters tonight. Steve Clifford hasn't officially ruled Williams' out for opening night, but if he's not able to give it a go, it'll likely be Kaminsky opening the year as Charlotte's starting four-man. That being said, Kaminsky's value will tank once Williams' gets back on the court, so he's only worth a look as a late-round flier in deep leagues. Thursday, 3:32 pm
  • Mbah a Moute (knee) doesn't practice Thursday
Luc Mbah a Moute (right knee contusion) sat out Thursday's practice.

Advice: Mbah a Moute is simply dealing with a bruised knee, and head coach Doc Rivers expects him to be fully recovered in the next day or so. Mbah a Moute will likely shuffle in and out of the starting five this season based on matchups, but his fantasy value will remain non-existent regardless of how he enters the game. Thursday, 11:45 am
  • Josh McRoberts out Thursday vs Hornets
Josh McRoberts (left foot) will miss Thursday's game against the Hornets.

Advice: McRoberts has no set timetable for his return and has no fantasy value in standard fantasy leagues at the moment. Thursday, 7:42 am
  • Pascal Siakam scores seven points as starter
Pascal Siakam was a fill-in starter vs. the Pistons on Wednesday and had seven points (3-of-5 FGs, 1-of-3 FTs), four boards, one steal, one block and four turnovers in 25 minutes.

Advice: The Raptors have high hopes for the rookie forward's development, but his near-term fantasy prospects aren't great. He's likely to spend much of his time with the Raptors' D-League affiliate. Wednesday, 7:09 pm
  • Lowry, DeMar, Carroll, Siakam & JV starting
The Raptors will start Kyle Lowry, DeMar DeRozan, DeMarre Carroll, Pascal Siakam and Jonas Valanciunas on Wednesday.

Advice: Minus Terrence Ross (knee) and Jared Sullinger (foot), the Raptors should have a fairly regular rotation tonight. We'll get to see how Siakam runs with the first unit as he tries to lock up a rotation spot. Wednesday, 3:22 pm
  • Nene (rest) out Wednesday vs. Mavericks
Nene (rest) will not suit up for Wednesday's exhibition game against the Mavericks.

Advice: It's just a rest day for the veteran. Montrezl Harrell and Chinanu Onuaku should pick up some extended minutes in his absence tonight, but none of these guys can be considered standard league targets. Wednesday, 11:02 am
  • Jarell Martin (foot) out Wednesday
Jarell Martin (foot) will not play on Wednesday vs. the Wolves.

Advice: He played in just one preseason game, but he can't shake his foot injury. Martin won't be in the rotation on opening night. Tuesday, 4:08 pm
  • Jason Smith (oblique) out Tuesday vs. CLE
Jason Smith (oblique) will not suit up for Tuesday's preseason game against the Cavs.

Advice: Smith is going to be backing up Marcin Gortat this season, meaning he's not going to be a realistic option in almost any setting. Tuesday, 12:01 pm
