Advice: Telfair was sentenced last month to three years' probation. He was arrested in April 2007 when police found him carrying a loaded gun in his car while he was a member of the Boston Celtics. The Celtics traded him to Minnesota in the deal for Kevin Garnett, and Telfair had a solid and incident-free first season in Minnesota. He signed a three-year, $7.5 million deal this summer to remain with the Timberwolves. He is the top backup to starter Randy Foye.

Magliore's fracture was reset without surgery, which would minimize his recovery time. If the procedure, called a closed reduction, doesn't work, surgery to insert screws remains an option and would be a more significant setback for Magliore.

The 6-foot-9 rookie was the 29th overall pick by the Detroit Pistons in the first round of the 2008 NBA Draft. The Thunder acquired White as a part of a draft day trade.

Advice: Ellis, who agreed to a six-year deal worth $66 million in July, severely sprained his ankle in a low-speed crash in late August. The suspension will cost the guard slightly less than $3 million. The Warriors counted four preseason games in the suspension's length, which means Ellis can't return to the club until after Golden State's 26th regular-season game, against Indiana on Dec. 17. Ellis was unlikely to return before then anyway because of the injury.

Advice: Anthony injured the finger when he had the ball slapped out of his hand during practice Thursday. He had the hand wrapped up Friday at practice, but X-rays were negative. The 24-year-old averaged 25.7 points a game last season and a career-high 7.4 rebounds. He helped lead Team USA to a gold medal in the Beijing Olympics over the summer. The Nuggets play the Timberwolves Friday night.

Advice: Dogged by three incidents involving police in the past 13 months, Williams will be reunited with new Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle, who coached the Pacers when Indiana drafted him out of Memphis in the first round in 2006. Williams started only six games in two seasons with Indiana, averaging 5.6 points and 2.3 rebounds.
