  • Jeremy Lamb getting another chance to start
Jeremy Lamb will get another chance to start against the Clippers on Sunday morning in China.

Advice: He had a brutal start on Oct. 4, making just 2-of-11 from the field. Lamb has done nothing but disappoint since his 2014 Summer League showing. He can be left on the wire in almost all leagues. Yesterday, 10:30 pm
  • Alex Len dominates, scores 21 points
Alex Len dominated against the Jazz on Friday during a 101-85 win, scoring 21 points with six rebounds, one assist, two steals and three blocks.

Advice: He made mid-range shots, got to the rim off the dribble, and was phenomenal protecting the paint. Len showed some flashes last season and showed a little more touch at Las Vegas, so he could certainly be in for a big season. Even though he might only get 22-24 minutes behind Tyson Chandler, he is still worth a look in standard leagues. Yesterday, 10:14 pm
  • Markieff Morris gets hot in win over Jazz
Markieff Morris was on fire in the third quarter against the Jazz on Friday, finishing with 18 points, one rebound, two assist and three 3-pointers in just 16 minutes.

Advice: He put on a scoring clinic against Derrick Favors and is putting his off-court issues with the front office aside. Morris has very little competition for minutes at power forward and could wind up being a steal in the middle rounds. Yesterday, 10:11 pm
  • Raul Neto gets start vs. Suns
Raul Neto started against the Suns in a 101-85 loss on Friday, scoring six points with two rebounds, one assist and one turnover in 23 minutes.

Advice: Trey Burke rested today to give Neto the start. He had some really nice passes and that part of his game is translating nicely so far. Of course, he is nowhere near where he should be as a scorer and teams will force him to beat with their defenders going under screens. He's only a late-round pick in deep leagues. Yesterday, 10:08 pm
  • Derrick Favors scores 13 points
Derrick Favors (groin) scored 13 points with seven rebounds, one assist, two steals and one block against the Suns on Friday.

Advice: He was outplayed at times by Markieff Morris, but at least he looked healthy in his 26 minutes. Favors had a nice flow on the offensive side and figures to have more success in his age-23 season. Yesterday, 10:04 pm
  • Gordon Hayward looks awesome in loss
Gordon Hayward had a big game in Phoenix on Friday, scoring 24 points with four rebounds, three assists, one steal, one block and four 3-pointers.

Advice: The Jazz used a number of lineups, and Hayward found himself on the wing and getting a lot of open chances on the perimeter. He still has room to grow and is worth a pick in the early rounds. Yesterday, 10:02 pm
  • Edy Tavares gets 11 minutes
Walter Tavares played 11 minutes on Friday against the Pelicans with eight points, six boards and one block.

Advice: He probably won't be in the rotation to start the year, but one injury to the frontcourt could change that. Tavares' 7'9" wingspan and blocking potential already put him on the radar in keeper formats. Yesterday, 7:00 pm
  • Kevin Durant scores 13, fills stat sheet
Kevin Durant looked great against Fenerbahce Ulker on Friday, scoring 13 points with four rebounds, five assists, two steals and one block in 22 minutes.

Advice: He was putting on some sweet dribble moves and even threw one down tonight. The concern of KD's foot is starting to subside as he looks to reclaim his distinction of being fantasy's best player -- he was for five straight years before last season. He really shouldn't fall past four in drafts. Yesterday, 6:55 pm
  • Al Horford scores 10 points, makes two treys
Al Horford scored 10 points with five rebounds, one assist, one block and two 3-pointers in 21 minutes against the Pelicans during a 103-93 win on Friday.

Advice: Horford more than doubled his career high last season with 11 treys and the early indications are that he could double it yet again. He's certainly going to play more power forward this year and has a terrific style for standard fantasy leagues. You might be able to sneak him in the late second round. Yesterday, 6:45 pm
  • Humphries attempts six threes in exhibition
Kris Humphries attempted six 3-pointers and made one of them in the Wizards' 115-104 exhibition loss to the Knicks on Friday.

Advice: Humphries has made just two 3-pointers in his 11-year career but in today's pace-and-space NBA everybody is a dead-eye from deep. We're kidding of course, and if he can make 3-point shooting something that actually adds to his value we'll let you know. He finished with 11 points, five boards and a steal in his 26 minutes, and he's a low-end value at best even if he starts at PF for the Wiz. Yesterday, 6:41 pm
  • Derrick Williams scores 23 points in 21 mins
Derrick Williams scored 23 points off the bench in Friday's preseason game against the Wizards, hitting 7-of-11 shots (9-of-9 FTs) with four rebounds and one steal in 21 minutes.

Advice: Williams does something like this every once in a while but his terrible defense, apathetic rebounding, and lack of basketball IQ will drive Derek Fisher up a wall. Until he proves himself in real action there is an abundance of film that shows he can't be relied on in fantasy leagues. Yesterday, 6:29 pm
  • Derrick Favors will play on Friday
Derrick Favors (groin) will play on Friday night against the Suns.

Advice: He went through shootaround and will get to go up against Markieff Morris in what should be a faster paced game. Favors is a solid target in the middle rounds. Yesterday, 5:40 pm
  • Ish Smith is back for Friday
Ish Smith (ankle) will play on Friday against the Knicks.

Advice: If he can make the team, Smith won't be in the rotation. Yesterday, 2:37 pm
  • Derrick Favors goes through shootaround
Derrick Favors (groin) went through shootaround on Friday and is questionable to play against the Suns on Friday.

Advice: It's a good sign to see he's doing some on-court work from his sore right groin and he should be ready in the near future. Favors doesn't have a track record of groin injuries and there's no reason to think this will be a major lingering issue. Yesterday, 1:27 pm
  • Joe Ingles getting some rest on Friday
Joe Ingles (rest) will not play against the Suns on Friday.

Advice: Without Ingles, there should be more minutes to go to Rodney Hood, Alec Burks and Elijah Millsap. Ingles doesn't have fantasy value while Hood and Burks are healthy. Yesterday, 12:33 pm
  • Raul Neto starting vs. Suns on Friday
Raul Neto will start against the Suns on Friday.

Advice: Trey Burke is not going to play tonight, so Neto should have plenty of minutes headed his way. He certainly could find himself in the starting lineup later in the season, but his shooting woes make him a tough fantasy target in most leagues. Yesterday, 12:25 pm
  • Wiggins to get more scoring in isolation?
Coach Sam Mitchell said he wants to see Andrew Wiggins score more without the team running plays for him.

Advice: He was somewhat effective as an isolation scorer last year, posting a 0.85 points per play last year (60th percentile). The big thing his fantasy owners will be hoping for is more production from 3-point range. Wiggins is a mid-round target and tends to be over-drafted. Yesterday, 11:39 am
  • Andrea Bargnani (hamstring) misses practice
Andrea Bargnani (hamstring) missed practice again on Friday.

Advice: Bargnani is one of the most injury-prone players in the league and is expected to come off the bench in Brooklyn, so there is no reason to look his way in most fantasy formats. Bargnani has now been on the shelf for five straight days. Yesterday, 11:11 am
  • Steven Adams (sore back) will play Friday
Steven Adams (sore back) will play in Friday's preseason game vs. Fenerbahce.

Advice: Adams has been sidelined for a few days but the injury was never considered to be serious. Adams is expected to start over Enes Kanter this season, but he likely won't see enough minutes to make a significant impact in standard leagues. Yesterday, 9:22 am
  • Malone praises Joffrey Lauvergne
Nuggets head coach Michael Malone showered praise on Joffrey Lauvergne and said that he could get a great opportunity this year.

Advice: "I love how hard he plays," Malone said of Lauvergne. "He's athletic, he has toughness, he has skill... He's just a guy that is going to demand minutes by how hard and how well he's been playing. We need him to keep on working and getting better and get in great shape. And if he's able to do that, he'll get a great opportunity this year." Jusuf Nurkic still hasn't returned from his knee injury, so Lauvergne is making a strong case for minutes in the frontcourt. He is firmly on the radar in deeper leagues and his fantasy arrow is pointing up. Yesterday, 9:04 am
  • Lou Amundson (back) is available on Friday
Lou Amundson (sore back) is available for Friday's game vs. the Wizards.

Advice: Amundson had some nice moments for the Knicks last season, but minutes won't be easy to come by in a crowded frontcourt. Amundson can be ignored in almost all leagues. Yesterday, 8:12 am
  • Arron Afflalo (hamstring) out for Friday
Arron Afflalo (hamstring) will not play in Friday's game vs. the Wizards.

Advice: Afflalo has been on the sidelines for a week and the Knicks are going to continue to bring him along slowly. Despite some reports that the starting shooting guard spot is wide open, we still expect Afflalo to open the season as the starter over players like Sasha Vujacic and Langston Galloway. For now, Afflalo is simply a late-round option. Yesterday, 7:58 am
  • Thabo Sefolosha found not guilty
Thabo Sefolosha was found not guilty of all three charges on Friday.

Advice: This is great news for Sefolosha and the Hawks in general, but it sounds like he will now open a lawsuit against the NYPD. Sefolosha is the favorite to start at small forward this season once he is healthy after recovering from right ankle surgery, but his game doesn't translate to fantasy very well and owners outside of deeper leagues can ignore him. Sefolosha will not join up with the Hawks in time for Friday's game vs. the Pelicans. Yesterday, 7:21 am
  • Kevin Martin will accept his role off bench
Kevin Martin implied that he will accept his role off the bench behind Zach LaVine.

Advice: "At the end of the day, I’m a low-maintenance kind of guy, so they know what they’re getting in me," Martin said. "I came off the bench for a 60-win team and I started 10 years in this league, so whatever it is they know they’re going to get a pretty damn good basketball player. That’s where it is right now." The Wolves are clearly prioritizing the development of their young studs, so it's not too surprising to see LaVine get the nod in the first unit. Martin should still have a solid role off the bench, but there is no reason to target him before the later rounds. Yesterday, 6:58 am
  • Allen Crabbe explodes for 25 points
Allen Crabbe was hot on Thursday against the Warriors, scoring 25 points with one rebound, four assists, two steals and five 3-pointers.

Advice: He made his first five shots and finished making 9-of-12 from the field. Crabbe was outstanding at Summer League before suffering an ugly ankle injury and he has the inside track to make the team. He could get even more minutes if Gerald Henderson (hip) is not ready. Thursday, 10:11 pm
  • Jordan Clarkson starts at point guard
Jordan Clarkson got the start at point guard on Thursday, scoring 11 points with four rebounds, six assists, one steal and one 3-pointer.

Advice: The team gave D'Angelo Russell (glute) the night off to give Clarkson more minutes at the one. Even though he won't have the ball in his hands as much as he did after the break last year, he's still worth a flier in the later rounds of drafts. Thursday, 10:02 pm
  • Kyle Lowry returns, looks great in win
Kyle Lowry returned from a one-game absence on Thursday, scoring 25 points with two rebounds, six assists, one steal and four 3-pointers.

Advice: He had a sore groin on Monday after his wonderful debut on Sunday with 26 points. The weight loss seems to be helping Lowry quite a bit, but we can't totally overreact to the preseason numbers. He's still worth a look near the turn of the second and third rounds of drafts. Thursday, 9:58 pm
  • LaMarcus Aldridge has eight points in debut
LaMarcus Aldridge scored eight points in 23 minutes against the Kings on Thursday, adding three rebounds, one steal and one turnover.

Advice: He didn't take any 3-pointers and only four of his 10 shots were from the mid-range. Aldridge should see more minutes at center and will be more involved in the offense more most nights. Still, he's not quite as attractive as some of the other power forwards going in the second round of drafts. Thursday, 9:48 pm
  • Lauvergne has another great game
Joffrey Lauvergne scored 18 points with eight rebounds, one steal and one turnover on 6-of-7 from the field.

Advice: He's absolutely rolling this month, scoring 15.0 points per game in his previous two preseason outings. Jusuf Nurkic hasn't played yet, which has opened some extra run for Lauvergne. He's not much of a shot blocker and did make just 40.4 percent from the field last year, so he's still not a strong target in drafts just yet. Thursday, 9:39 pm
  • Steven Adams (back) goes through practice
Steven Adams (back) went through everything during OKC's light practice on Thursday, although he remains questionable for Friday's game vs. Fenerbahce.

Advice: Adams is dealing with a sore back, but his full participation in today's practice can certainly be viewed as a positive sign. That being said, his minutes could dip this season with Enes Kanter in town, so we'd recommend avoiding Adams in standard leagues on draft day. Thursday, 1:02 pm
  • Andrea Bargnani (hamstring) out Thursday
Andrea Bargnani (hamstring) will miss Thursday's preseason game vs. the Pistons.

Advice: It's hard to get excited about a guy that consistently misses major chunks of the regular-season. We wouldn't recommend drafting Bargnani in any league. Thursday, 12:35 pm
  • Wittman won't commit to Humphries as starter
Wizards head coach Randy Wittman has not yet committed to using Kris Humphries as the team's full-time starting power forward.

Advice: Wittman added that he could use multiple starting lineups, so it sounds like there's a possibility that Humphries and Nene fluctuate in-and-out of the starting lineup depending on the matchup. This situation has timeshare written all over it, meaning that neither player will make for a strong late-round selection in standard leagues. Thursday, 12:30 pm
  • Arron Affalo doesn't practice on Thursday
Arron Afflalo (hamstring) missed practice on Thursday.

Advice: Afflalo continues to take it slowly as he recovers from his hamstring injury, but doesn't look to be in danger of missing any regular season action. As long as he can stay healthy this season, Afflalo will be the Knicks' No. 2 option on offense and is worth a late-round flier despite his lack of defensive numbers. Thursday, 9:52 am
  • HC says Kevin Martin off bench is best
Timberwolves head coach Sam Mitchell said having Kevin Martin come off the bench is best for the team.

Advice: While Mitchell acknowledge Martin may not like it, he stressed that the veteran needs to accept his new sixth man role for the betterment of the team. "It’s not necessarily about earning, it’s about where you are as an organization and where you’re trying to go," Mitchell said. "I’m not saying Kevin has to accept it with a smile on his face, but it’s just where we are as an organization." Martin will still see enough minutes to provide value in standard fantasy leagues, so losing his starting job to Zach LaVine shouldn't knock him off draft boards. Thursday, 7:05 am
  • Markieff Morris (hip) shoots 2-of-13 vs Kings
Markieff Morris (strained hip) returned on Wednesday but shot only 2-of-13 from the field to finish with six points, six rebounds, two blocks and two turnovers in 21 minutes.

Advice: He started at power forward, as expected, and isn't likely to face too much competition for minutes from Mirza Teletovic. Morris has missed only one game in the past three seasons and he has top-50 fantasy potential if he keeps his cool and plays to his potential in Phoenix. Prospective owners should be mindful that he could face a substantial suspension if his pending assault trial results in a 'guilty' verdict. Wednesday, 10:25 pm
  • Kevin Durant returns w/ 15 pts in 22 minutes
Kevin Durant looked great in his preseason debut on Wednesday, scoring 15 points (5-of-8 FGs, 4-of-5 FTs) with one 3-pointer, two rebounds and four assists.

Advice: He did his damage in 22 minutes and the new Thunder offense was firing on all cylinders tonight, racking up 122 points on 55.6 percent shooting. KD has full medical clearance after last season's bone graft surgery, and all signs point to another MVP-caliber season for Oklahoma's superstar. Wednesday, 8:13 pm
  • Aldridge (thigh) traveling with Spurs
LaMarcus Aldridge (thigh) is traveling with the Spurs for Thursday's preseason opener vs. the Kings.

Advice: Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili and Boris Diaw are all going to be rested, but head coach Gregg Popovich might want his star acquisition to get his feet wet with his new teammates. Aldridge did miss practice on Tuesday because of pain in his thigh bone, but the injury isn't considered serious at all. Aldridge will likely see fewer touches in San Antonio this season, but he is still an excellent early-round target. Wednesday, 12:31 pm
  • Steven Adams (sore back) targeting Friday
The Thunder are hopeful that Steven Adams (sore back) will be able to play on Friday.

Advice: Adams went through shootaround on Wednesday, but the Thunder will hold him out of the game vs. Minnesota as a precaution. Adams is the favorite to start over Enes Kanter which makes sense because he is a solid rim protector, but he is still only a fantasy consideration in deeper leagues while the Thunder are at full strength. Wednesday, 11:43 am
  • Markieff Morris (hip) will play on Wednesday
Markieff Morris (hip strain) will play on Wednesday vs. the Kings.

Advice: Morris sat out of Saturday's scrimmage, but he was able to practice on Tuesday and will hopefully get some solid minutes in the Suns' preseason opener. After a summer filled with drama, Morris should resume his role as the starting power forward and could be a steal late in drafts. Wednesday, 11:11 am
  • Bargnani (hamstring) misses practice on Wed
Andrea Bargnani (hamstring) missed his second consecutive day of practice on Wednesday.

Advice: While the injury isn’t believed to be serious, this is just a reminder of how often Bargnani finds himself dealing with various ailments. We'd recommend letting another owner deal with the headache of owning Il Mago on draft day. Wednesday, 10:47 am
  • Steven Adams (back) will not play Wednesday
Steven Adams (sore back) will not play in Wednesday's preseason opener vs. Minnesota, as expected.

Advice: Adams is simply dealing with a sore back, so he should be fine when the regular-season tips off. He's currently penciled in as the starting center in OKC, although his minutes will likely trend down this season with Enes Kanter nipping at his heels for playing time. Adams isn't worth drafting in standard leagues. Wednesday, 10:35 am
  • Clifford likes Jeremy Lamb in the second unit
Head coach Steve Clifford said that he would prefer to keep Jeremy Lamb in the second unit.

Advice: "I really like Jeremy Lamb as a first wing sub off the bench because he’s versatile," said Clifford. "He can score, he can pass and he’s got size. If we started him, then we start the roller coaster of a whole lot of guys changing roles. If we moved somebody else into the starting lineup, then everyone else remains in their slots." With Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (torn labrum) expected to miss the 2015-16 season, there will be a lot of opportunity for some of the wing players in Charlotte. Lamb could have some more shots coming his way serving in a sixth man role for the Hornets, and he's on the radar as a late-round target in deep leagues. Wednesday, 6:02 am
  • Jordan Clarkson scores 12 for Lakers
Jordan Clarkson started at shooting guard and hit 5-of-10 shots and two 3-pointers for 12 points, three rebounds and two assists in Tuesday's overtime loss.

Advice: Clarkson played pretty well tonight and should be a decent grab in the later rounds of your fantasy draft. Lou Williams and Nick Young could cut into his run some this season, but Clarkson looks like the favorite to start this year for the Lakers. Wednesday, 12:40 am
  • Gordon Hayward sits after first quarter
Gordon Hayward played the first quarter and finished with four points, one rebound, two assists, three steals and a 3-pointer on 1-of-3 shooting in 12 minutes of Tuesday's overtime win over the Lakers.

Advice: Hayward sat after the first quarter, so there's not much to read into this one, although the steals were nice. Wednesday, 12:21 am
  • Joffrey Lauvergne double-doubles in win
Joffrey Lauvergne stayed hot in Tuesday's preseason win, racking up 14 points, 12 rebounds, a steal and two 3-pointers on 6-of-8 shooting in 29 minutes.

Advice: He had 16 points and 11 boards on 7-of-10 shooting in Friday's preseason game, and looks like a very interesting sleeper center pick in fantasy. Keep a close eye on him in the preseason, as his stock could continue to rise with a couple more nice performances under new coach Michael Malone. Jusuf Nurkic was out again with a knee injury, but is expected to be ready for the start of the season. However, with Lauvergne's solid play, he could challenge Nurkic for the starting gig in Denver. Tuesday, 9:36 pm
  • Kris Humphries will start at PF on Tuesday
Kris Humphries will start at power forward, ahead of Nene, for Tuesday's preseason game vs. the 76ers.

Advice: Nene is healthy, and head coach Randy Wittman said not to make much of the Wizards' rotations during the early goings of preseason, so we won't. That being said, neither Humphries nor Nene make for very appealing plays in standard leagues. Tuesday, 3:45 pm
  • Ish Smith (ankle) will not play on Tuesday
Ish Smith (ankle) has been ruled out for Tuesday's preseason game vs. the 76ers.

Advice: Smith isn't a lock to make the opening-night roster in Washington, and sitting out preseason games will only further hurt his chances. Even if he does make the squad, he'll remain a negligible option in all leagues while the Wizards are healthy. Tuesday, 2:48 pm
  • Kevin Martin to come off the bench in MIN
Kevin Martin will come off the bench in Minnesota under interim head coach Sam Mitchell.

Advice: Mitchell named Zach LaVine the team's starting two-guard on Tuesday, so the flip side of that is that Martin will transition to a sixth man role for the Wolves. Health has been a major issue for Martin throughout his career, so perhaps transitioning to a bench role (and thus seeing fewer minutes per game) will help him stay healthy. Despite a decrease in his workload, Martin should be able to see minutes to turn out standard league value, so he'll make for a decent late-round gamble on draft day for those willing to assume the risk. Tuesday, 2:01 pm
  • Derrick Favors (sore groin) out Tuesday
Derrick Favors (sore right groin) will not suit up for Tuesday's preseason game vs. the Lakers.

Advice: It is the norm for teams to be extremely cautious with their starters during preseason action, and given that Favors doesn't have a history of dealing with groin injuries, we wouldn't read much into his absence from Tuesday night's game. Favors benefited from playing next to Rudy Gobert last season, compiling averages of 16.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.0 steal and 1.7 blocks per game after the All-Star break, and he'll make for a quality mid-round selection on draft day. Tuesday, 1:35 pm
  • Steven Adams (back) doubtful for Wednesday
Steven Adams (back) is unlikely to play in Wednesday's preseason opener vs. the Timberwolves.

Advice: Adams did increase his workload at practice on Tuesday, but the Thunder have no reason to risk him aggravating his back injury during a preseason game. Adams is currently the favorite to start at center for OKC this season, but after compiling averages of just 7.9 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game as a starter last season, there’s no reason to get too excited about his starter designation. At best, Adams can serve as a shot blocking specialist in deep leagues. Tuesday, 12:03 pm
  • Arron Afflalo (hamstring) out for Wednesday
Arron Afflalo (hamstring) has been ruled out for the Knicks preseason opener on Wednesday.

Advice: The Knicks have made it very clear that they will bring along Afflalo very slowly as he recovers from his hamstring injury, and there's a good chance he misses more than a few preseason games. That being said, Afflalo should be fine for the regular-season, and he'll likely be New York's No. 2 option on offense. Afflalo's lack of contributions on the defensive end limit his upside, but he's worth a late-round gamble given the opportunity he'll see with the Knicks this season. Tuesday, 11:42 am
  • Arron Afflalo misses practice on Tuesday
Arron Afflalo (hamstring) sat out his fourth consecutive practice on Tuesday.

Advice: While the Knicks are bringing Afflalo along slowly, his status for opening night doesn't seem to be in doubt at this point. The 29-year-old should see big minutes for the Knicks this season, but his fantasy upside is limited due to his lack of defensive stats. Tuesday, 10:47 am
  • LaMarcus Aldridge misses practice on Tuesday
LaMarcus Aldridge (thigh) missed practice with an IT band injury on Tuesday.

Advice: Aldridge's IT band injury is described as pain in his thigh bone, but it's worth noting that Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich talked Aldridge into sitting so the injury isn't anything serious. While Aldridge is bound to see his usage rate decrease this season, he's still a solid early-round target in standard fantasy leagues. Tuesday, 10:40 am
  • Andrea Bargnani misses Tuesday practice
Andrea Bargnani (right left hamstring) missed Nets practice on Tuesday.

Advice: Bargnani's injury isn't thought to be serious, but it's never a good thing to see an injury-prone player dealing with injuries before the regular season even starts. While Bargnani should see decent minutes for the Nets, his risk outweighs his reward for owners in standard fantasy leagues. Tuesday, 10:31 am
  • Allen Crabbe hoping to earn more minutes
Allen Crabbe (ankle) said he's feeling better and is focused on earning more minutes in the Trail Blazers rotation.

Advice: With Al-Farouq Aminu out expecting the birth of his first child, Crabbe started at small forward for the Trail Blazers in the team's preseason opener. "It’s just about me being confident, being aggressive on the floor," said Crabbe. "If I’m just locked-in defensively and offensively, knocking down shots and doing what the team is asking me to do, I’m going to be fine." Crabbe is more of a fringe fantasy player at the moment, but he could be worth a late-round flier in fantasy drafts if he's able to play his way into the Blazers rotation. Tuesday, 8:34 am
  • Bargnani says hamstring injury not serious
Andrea Bargnani said his left hamstring tightness is not serious and that he'll be back "very soon" on Monday.

Advice: Bargnani missed Monday's preseason opener and that sound you heard was the basketball world rolling its eyes. There isn't a scenario in which we'd remove the injury-risk tag from his profile. Monday, 8:16 pm
  • Thabo Sefolosha's trial begins in Manhattan
Thabo Sefolosha was at a Manhattan criminal court on Monday, where jury selection took place in his trial to contest charges of resisting arrest.

Advice: Opening statements will follow on Tuesday and the result of the case could determine whether he'll face any punitive measures from the NBA. Sefolosha is still recovering from right ankle surgery, leaving him questionable for opening night, but once healthy he should start at SF ahead of Kent Bazemore and Tim Hardaway Jr. Monday, 2:12 pm
  • Arron Afflalo (hamstring) iffy for Wednesday
The Knicks will bring back Arron Afflalo (hamstring) "very slowly," according to associate coach Kurt Rambis.

Advice: "He’ll have to pass strength tests, agility tests before he gets to practice," Rambis said. Afflalo has missed three days of practice and he's questionable for Wednesday's exhibition, costing him precious time to learn the triangle offense. Afflalo's lack of defensive stats limits his upside as a late-round pick. Monday, 1:44 pm
  • Ish Smith (ankle) questionable for Tuesday
Ish Smith has been limited by an ankle injury at training camp.

Advice: He is questionable to play in Tuesday's exhibition vs. the 76ers. This sounds like a minor ailment and Smith hasn't had ankle problems since joining the NBA, but this narrows his already-thin odds of making the regular-season roster. Monday, 12:36 pm
  • Afflalo (hamstring) still out of practice
Arron Afflalo (hamstring) was still being held out of practice on Monday.

Advice: Although the injury is not considered serious, Afflalo was tentatively expected to resume practicing on Monday. If it continues to linger throughout the week, then we'll begin to raise the level of concern. He's 50-50 to play in New York's preseason game on Wednesday. Monday, 9:43 am
  • Andrea Bargnani will not play on Monday night
Andrea Bargnani (tight left hamstring) will not play in Monday's preseason game.

Advice: Lionel Hollins says he won't play until he's ready. Bargs' hamstring was so famous that it should have had its own name last season, but there is no indication this is anything more than precautionary. He's expected to play a sizable reserve role for the Nets, but Bargnani is not someone we're looking to draft in fantasy leagues. Monday, 7:57 am
  • Steven Adams expected to start at center
Steven Adams is expected to serve as the Thunder's starting center.

Advice: Despite re-signing Enes Kanter for a whopping $70 million this summer, the Thunder appear committed to keeping Adams paired with Serge Ibaka in the starting lineup. However, with Kanter's presence, a healthy Ibaka and Kevin Durant back in the fold, there isn't a lot of reason to get excited about Adams' fantasy stock considering the lack of upside. Monday, 6:30 am
  • Durant: 'Feels like a new era of basketball'
Kevin Durant said the arrival of Billy Donovan "feels like a new era of basketball."

Advice: Between Durant sitting out most of last season with his foot injury, a new coach and a brand new system, K.D. isn't exaggerating with his words. Considering Durant is also entering a contract season and one of the most popular topics throughout will be his free agent plans, we hope he's ready for his brave new world. Monday, 6:20 am
  • Report: Knicks starting SG spot wide open
The Knicks starting shooting guard spot is "wide open," according to the New York Post.

Advice: The Knicks signed Arron Afflalo in free agency, and it would be downright shocking to see him lose out to Langston Galloway or Sasha Vujacic. Despite the report, we fully expect Afflalo to be in New York's starting lineup when their season opens. Monday, 6:12 am
  • Andrea Bargnani will play alongside Lopez?
Nets head coach Lionel Hollins said that he'll be looking to give Andrea Bargnani minutes alongside Brook Lopez this upcoming season.

Advice: "Offensively, those guys are very versatile and they give a lot of problems to the defense, because both can shoot, both can pass, and both can put the ball on the floor," Hollins said. "I like those guys playing together at times." Bargnani played next to Lopez for long stretches during Friday's scrimmage, so it looks like Hollins likes what he sees in a potential Bargnani/Lopez pairing, which is a very strange sentence to write. Sunday, 11:06 pm
  • Raul Neto hands out six assists in 20 minutes
Raul Neto showed some flashes of potential during his first preseason game with the Jazz on Sunday, handing out six assists to go with four steals, two turnovers and a block through 20 minutes of action.

Advice: While Neto shot just 0-of-3 from the field, he looked great setting up Utah's offense, and he was very pesky on defense. Rumors out of Utah indicate that Neto is currently the favorite to win the starting point guard position, and tonight was certainly a step in the right direction as he really outplayed Trey Burke. We'll be watching this position battle closely leading up to the regular-season, but Neto has put himself on the radar as a late-round flier in deep leagues. Sunday, 10:19 pm
  • Derrick Favors scores 16 pts w/ nine boards
Derrick Favors was solid during Utah's preseason win over Los Angeles on Sunday, scoring 16 points (7-of-15 FGs, 2-of-4 FTs) with nine boards, one steal and one block in just 24 minutes.

Advice: Favors will again be one of the go-to-guys on offense for Utah this season, and at just 24 years old, there's no reason why he can't take another step in his development. Through 74 games last season Favors compiled averages of 16.0 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.7 blocks and 0.8 steals per game, and he'll make for a quality mid-round selection on draft day. Sunday, 10:05 pm
  • Kyle Lowry (sore groin) will not play Monday
Kyle Lowry (sore groin) will not play in Monday's preseason game vs. the Warriors.

Advice: Head coach Dwane Casey maintained that the injury was nothing serious, and he's just looking to get some of his young guys involved during Toronto's second preseason game. We'll continue to monitor Lowry, but given that he hasn't had any groin issues since 2012, we're not going to overreact. He was fantastic in his first preseason game, and at 29 years old, he should have no problem returning to last season's averages of 17.8 points, 6.8 assists, 4.7 boards, 1.6 steals, 1.9 three-pointers and 2.5 turnovers per game. Sunday, 7:44 pm
  • Kyle Lowry explodes for 26 points in 22 mins
Kyle Lowry looked fantastic during Sunday's preseason win over the Clippers, scoring 26 points on 7-of-10 shooting (11-of-12 from the stripe) to go with two assists, two steals and one 3-pointer in just 22 minutes of action.

Advice: Head coach Dwane Casey said that Lowry has been dealing with a sore groin, although the fact that he was deployed in a meaningless preseason game would indicate that this is nothing to worry about. Lowry looks noticeably slimmer, and hopefully the weight that he lost this offseason will help him put together a healthy 2015-16 campaign. While he is a bit of an injury risk, Lowry's ability to light up the stat sheet on any given night makes him well worth an early-round selection on draft day. Sunday, 6:52 pm
  • Steven Adams (back) won't scrimmage Sunday
Steven Adams (sore back) will not play in Sunday's scrimmage.

Advice: He did work out earlier in the day but isn't ready for a full practice, and we're considering him day-to-day as OKC prepares to open their preseason vs. the Wolves on Oct. 7. Adams averaged 7.7 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 25.3 minutes per game last season, and he's a negligible fantasy player while Enes Kanter and Serge Ibaka are healthy. Sunday, 1:25 pm
  • Jeremy Lamb scores 16 points on Saturday
Jeremy Lamb scored 16 points in 25 minutes in Saturday's preseason win over the Magic.

Advice: He also added four boards, one assist and two 3-pointers on 5-of-10 shooting from the field. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (shoulder) is in danger of missing some time depending on the results of Monday's evaluation, so Lamb could have a sizable role right out of the gate. Lamb is on the radar in deeper formats. Sunday, 8:35 am
  • Markieff Morris (hip) held out of scrimmage
Markieff Morris (hip strain) will not play on Saturday during the team's scrimmage.

Advice: To the surprise of nobody, he was booed when he was introduced. Morris hurt his hip while running into a screen and won't be out for long. With all the drama, he could be a nice bargain in the early late rounds. Saturday, 6:51 pm
  • Arron Afflalo (hamstring) misses practice Sat
Arron Afflalo (hamstring) sat out for the second consecutive day at Saturday's practice, but he is expected to resume practicing on Monday.

Advice: Afflalo is simply dealing with some soreness, so the veteran should be fine with a little rest. Afflalo is nothing more than a late-round target after a disappointing 2014-15 season with the Nuggets and Blazers, but he should have a prominent role on the Knicks playing next to Carmelo Anthony. Saturday, 9:38 am
  • Lauvergne double-doubles off the bench
Joffrey Lauvergne double-doubled off the bench in Friday's preseason opener, scoring 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting with 11 rebounds in 25 minutes.

Advice: Lauvergne didn't have a steal or block but in general we're not trying to read too much into tonight's action. The French big man does a little bit of everything and we'll be keeping an eye on him, but a crowded frontcourt presents challenges from a fantasy point of view. Friday, 10:13 pm
  • Chandler taking Len under his wing
Tyson Chandler said Alex Len has "all the tools that you want to see in a big man in this league."

Advice: "I don’t think he knows how good he is to be quite honest," Chandler said. "I think when he starts to understand that and starts to get that confidence, you’ll see him start to grow and explode." Chandler is really looking after Len and it could really help The Kraine's career trajectory. He needs to stay healthy, though. Friday, 3:44 pm
  • Steven Adams has a back injury
Steven Adams (back) did not take part in contact drills on Friday.

Advice: He just has some back soreness and is questionable to play on Sunday. Adams won't have much fantasy value while OKC is healthy up front. Friday, 11:59 am
  • KD shoots down Lakers rumors
Kevin Durant shot down the Lakers rumors on Friday.

Advice: "I don't talk to Stephen A Smith at all," Durant said. "No one in my family, my friends do. So he's lying." KD is not nice. Kidding aside, these rumors are going to annoy him all year. Friday, 11:34 am
  • Arron Afflalo (hamstring) misses practice
Arron Afflalo (sore left hamstring) and Kristaps Porzingis (knee) were held out of Friday's practice.

Advice: Afflalo's injury doesn't sound serious, and the Knicks have no reason to push the veteran in training camp at less than 100 percent. After a disappointing 2014-15 campaign, Afflalo will look to bounce back and could potentially be the second option on offense behind Carmelo Anthony. Afflalo is still only a late-round target, and we will let you know if the soreness in his hamstring lingers. Friday, 9:01 am
  • Byron Scott praises Jordan Clarkson
Coach Byron Scott said Jordan Clarkson has a "big-time ceiling."

Advice: He put it on display down the stretch last year and at Summer League. Clarkson played point guard almost exclusively, but now he'll have to play more shooting guard. He doesn't have a reliable 3-point shot yet, which will go a long way in his success. He's worth a pick in the early late rounds. Thursday, 5:31 pm
  • Raul Neto impressing Hayward at practice
Gordon Hayward said that Raul Neto did a great job "running the show" during Utah's practice on Thursday.

Advice: Neto is currently fighting for the starting point guard position in Utah with the likes of Trey Burke and Bryce Cotton, although reports up to this point have Neto the favorite to come out on top. It only helps that one of Utah's franchise players is praising his play, and it'll be interesting to watch coach Quin Snyder's rotations develop over the course of the preseason. Neto doesn't really have a jump shot, so he could struggle with efficiency, but he's certainly on the radar in deep leagues as a guy that could buoy the assist category. Thursday, 3:24 pm
  • Steven Adams (back) doesn't practice Thursday
Steven Adams did not practice on Thursday due to back soreness, but it is not being considered serious.

Advice: Adams will likely be stuck playing limited minutes behind Enes Kanter this season, so there's no reason to target him in standard leagues on draft day. Thursday, 2:18 pm
  • Kevin Durant interested in joining Lakers?
Kevin Durant (foot) could be interested in joining the Lakers when he becomes an unrestricted free agent after the 2015-16 season, according to Stephen A. Smith of ESPN.

Advice: While Durant would still like to return to the Thunder, Smith says the Lakers would be his preferred destination if he leaves Oklahoma City. "Regardless of how senseless it may (sound), in one breath I’m hearing that if Kevin Durant doesn’t stay in Oklahoma City, L.A. is his primary objective and landing spot as opposed to South Beach or even his home of Washington, D.C.," Smith said. Rumors aside, Durant said he's feeling good after foot surgery and fantasy owners shouldn't let him fall out of the top-5 on draft day. Thursday, 6:51 am
  • Suns want Markieff Morris to be a playmaker
The Suns want Markieff Morris to be a playmaker more often this season, particularly in high-low sets with Tyson Chandler or Alex Len.

Advice: "Both of those guys have great hands and have great timing with lobs," Morris said. "Whenever their man steps up and helps out, I can just throw the ball up." Markieff has put on a happy face during training camp despite essentially demanding a trade this summer, and all signs point to him starting at PF on opening night with Mirza Teletovic as his backup. He's a top-80 fantasy value as long as he keeps his cool in Phoenix. Wednesday, 6:45 pm
  • Jordan Clarkson plays w/ Lakers' first unit
Jordan Clarkson played with the Lakers' first unit on Wednesday, joining D'Angelo Russell, Kobe Bryant, Brandon Bass and Roy Hibbert.

Advice: It's the second day of training camp and the starting lineup isn't decided, but Clarkson is an early favorite to start with Kobe earning most of his minutes at small forward. L.A. has substantial depth with Lou Williams and Nick Young also on the roster, but Clarkson is a nice late-round target who could be a steal if he averages 30 minutes per game. Wednesday, 4:50 pm
  • Markieff Morris is 'happy to be with my team'
Markieff Morris said on Wednesday he's "happy to be with my team."

Advice: He's a basketball player, so getting out on the court has to feel good for him. Morris made it clear he's there for his teammates over the front office, but he still likely wants to be dealt. Expect him to be on the Suns to start the year and feel free to draft him in the 75-100 range. Wednesday, 12:31 pm
  • Thabo Sefolosha experiences leg pain
Thabo Sefolosha experienced some leg pain and dialed it back in practice on Wednesday.

Advice: Sefolosha said that the pain was part of his rehab and it doesn't sound like he is overly concerned. Sefolosha will be the favorite to start at small forward if he is good to go for the season opener, but his game doesn't translate to fantasy very well. If his leg injury lingers, Kent Bazemore would be in line for more minutes. Wednesday, 10:51 am
  • Lou Amundson (back) misses practice
Lou Amundson missed practice on Wednesday morning due to a sore back.

Advice: The good news is that Amundson is expected to practice later in the evening, so we will leave him off the injury report for now. The Knicks added a ton of frontcourt depth this summer, so Amundson's role is set to take a major hit. It's safe to ignore him in fantasy leagues. Wednesday, 9:10 am
  • Kevin Durant (foot) says he feels great
Kevin Durant (foot) said that he felt great after his first practice with the Thunder.

Advice: "I feel great, actually," Durant said. "It’s really different being out there in a practice setting. I haven’t been there in a while. It’s definitely going to take me some time to really get comfortable out there again. I've been injured, but I'm healed now. So I try not to think about it. If I'm on the court, I'm OK. So I'm the same player I was." Durant added that his conditioning is great, but said that it's going to take him some time to get back to mid-season form. This is obviously great news, and we will continue to monitor his progress very closely. Wednesday, 6:10 am
