  • Kris Humphries is back at practice
Kris Humphries (hand) was back at practice on Saturday.

Advice: It sounds like he's ready for the opener on Wednesday. Humphries had his stitches out of his hand on Friday, so he shouldn't be limited. With Nene out due to a one-game suspension, Hump and Kevin Seraphin should get minutes. Rotoworld.com
    18 minutes ago
  • Raptors waive Will Cherry
    Raptors waive G Will Cherry.

Advice: He finished the preseason just 2-of-9 from the field and 1-of-3 from the line in his last two games. Cherry was great at summer league, but it obviously didn't translate. Rotoworld.com

  • Norris Cole starts, plays well on Friday
Norris Cole started against the Grizzlies on Friday, scoring 14 points with two rebounds, seven assists and one 3-pointer in 27 minutes.

Advice: He needed a strong couple games and came through. Shabazz Napier was pushing Cole for minutes, but he should be in the rotation. He might actually start, but Mario Chalmers is still the better option in most leagues as a sixth man. Rotoworld.com

  • Jazz pick up option for Gobert
The Jazz exercised their third-year option on Rudy Gobert.

Advice: He was the talk of summer league and it's carried over into the preseason. Gobert will be in the mix for leaders in blocks and rebounds per 48 minutes, and is certainly on the radar for any owner seeking help in those areas. Rotoworld.com
    Today, 9:21 am
  • Jazz pick up option on Trey Burke
The Jazz picked up the third-year option on Trey Burke.

Advice: Despite a letdown in 2013-14, this was an easy call to bring Burke back on his rookie scale deal. He had a nice October and could be worthy of a pick later in fantasy drafts. Rotoworld.com
    Today, 9:19 am
  • Knicks might not keep Shane Larkin
The Knicks may opt to not exercise the option on Shane Larkin's contract.

Advice: The team was expected to pick up his option earlier this month, but they may want to keep the cap space. Larkin is expected to get some run in the second unit and may have value if Jose Calderon (calf) needs to miss time. Rotoworld.com
    Today, 8:48 am
  • Cavs not close to extension with Tristan
The Cavs and Tristan Thompson are not close to coming to terms on an extension.

Advice: It sounds like he will be a restricted free agent next summer. Thompson does have a big opportunity in front of him, but he will be coming off the bench. That said, he doesn't have a lot of presence in defensive stats and is inefficient, so we like other people later in drafts. Rotoworld.com
    Today, 7:56 am
  • Evan Fournier puts up a nice line
Evan Fournier played well off the bench against the Mavericks on Friday with 12 points, one rebound, two assists, two steals and two 3-pointers.

Advice: He's on the fantasy radar as a deep-league pickup while Victor Oladipo (face) is on the mend. Fournier will handle the ball a lot and should be have some nice short-term value. Rotoworld.com
    Today, 7:49 am
  • Jameer Nelson returns from ankle tweak
Jameer Nelson returned from a minor ankle tweak on Friday, finishing with four points, four rebounds and seven assists in 25 minutes.

Advice: He just needed to be re-taped and everything is fine. Nelson had a productive preseason thanks to Raymond Felton going down, so fantasy owners missing out on point guards shouldn't hesitate to grab Jameer with their last couple picks. Rotoworld.com
    Today, 7:47 am
  • Trey Burke still plays OK, cools off a bit
Trey Burke made 5-of-14 from the field for 12 points with four rebounds, two assists and one 3-pointer in 30 minutes against the Suns on Friday.

Advice: He was coming in scorching hot from deep, making 16-of-30 (53.3 percent) in his previous seven games. Burke was much better this month and only shot below 30 percent from the field in one game, something he did more than any other player last season. He is one of a handful of players to show major improvement this month and is worth a look later in drafts. Rotoworld.com
    Today, 7:02 am
  • Enes Kanter has itchy trigger finger
Enes Kanter made 4-of-14 from the field in 33 minutes as the starting center against the Suns on Friday, scoring 10 points with six rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block.

Advice: Amazingly, Kanter now has a block in his last three preseason games, which he failed to do in his first five games this month. He did add a 3-point shot to his arsenal, but ended up shooting just 3-of-15 (20 percent) on those. Kanter could improve and staying in shape is nice, but other players in the later rounds may have more upside. Rotoworld.com
    Today, 6:58 am
  • Markieff Morris puts up a nice game in finale
Markieff Morris finished his preseason on a high note with 17 points, six rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block in 24 minutes against the Jazz on Friday.

Advice: He shot 5-of-8 from the field and 7-of-8 from the line, which was nice to see after a mildly disappointing preseason. Obviously, we're not concerned and are expecting him to grow from his top-50 numbers after the break last season. He's a player you'll want to reach for. Rotoworld.com
    Today, 6:53 am
  • Carmelo says Knicks will struggle w/ triangle
Carmelo Anthony said on Friday the Knicks are"never going to have [the triangle offense] all the way down pat."

Advice: Teammate J.R. Smith has been saying similar things and it seems obvious that the Knicks are going to start slow. Anthony is still going to get his and his slimmed-down frame should help his case for minutes. He's a first round pick in fantasy leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Today, 6:50 am
  • Justin Holiday makes the Warriors
Justin Holiday made the Warriors 15-man roster.

Advice: He had a magnificent summer league with a 29-point game and plenty of highlights, and he finished strong in October to earn the last roster spot. Holiday probably won't be in the rotation, but kudos to a guy who wasn't on a team a month ago. Rotoworld.com
    Today, 6:34 am
  • Klay Klay: Thompson scores 35 points
Klay Thompson scored 35 points against the Nuggets during a 119-112 win on Friday, making 13-of-26 from the field with three rebounds, two assists, two blocks and four 3-pointers.

Advice: Well, someone is playing like they want a max deal. The 3.5 triples per game over his last six games is not a shock, but he has a surprising 1.8 blocks per game in limited playing time over his last four. He did have a massive preseason last year, so fantasy owners shouldn't put too much stock into the past month. However, he's still a terrific guy to take in the fourth round. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 10:34 pm
  • Harrison Barnes not playing well still
Harrison Barnes didn't look great in 24 minutes against the Nuggets with four points, two rebounds and three fouls on Friday.

Advice: He hasn't done anything noteworthy this month and he's likely just going to be a place holder as the starting small forward. Fantasy owners should go with Draymond Green in the later rounds and can leave Barnes on the wire in even 16-team leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 10:29 pm
  • Draymond shows his upside again
Draymond Green scored eight points with five rebounds, three assists and two 3-pointers in 21 minutes against the Nuggets on Friday.

Advice: He almost always finds a way to put up stats and can really do it all except make free throws consistently. Green is one of our favorite late-round targets. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 10:27 pm
  • Danilo Gallinari played 16 minutes
Danilo Gallinari played 16 minutes against the Warriors on Friday with 10 points, three rebounds and one foul.

Advice: The minutes aren't there yet, but everything else looks great. He's getting to the line, taking triples and posting a high usage rate. As long as you're OK with him starting off slow, Gallinari is a decent target in the last few rounds of standard drafts. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 10:23 pm
  • Chris Kaman gets the start next to Ro-Lo
Chris Kaman just missed a double-double in Friday's 99-89 win over the Clippers with 13 points, nine rebounds, two assists and three blocks.

Advice: It's a good sign for his value to see coach Terry Stotts is willing to start him next to Robin Lopez. Kaman has been injury prone and has hasn't played big minutes in a while, so he can be ignored in most leagues. Also, LaMarcus Aldridge (groin) should be ready for the opener. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 10:14 pm
  • Meyers Leonard takes seven treys
Meyers Leonard attempted seven triples and made two of them on his way to 14 points with seven rebounds and one assist in 24 minutes against the Clippers on Friday.

Advice: Yes, this is the same Meyers Leonard who went 0-of-6 from beyond the arc last season, so that's cool. He also hit three triples on Wednesday and is hotter from beyond than arc than most sharpshooters. Hopefully you don't need us to tell you he's not going to be a savior for 3-pointers in your fantasy league. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 10:11 pm
  • DeAndre plays 24 minutes
DeAndre Jordan scored just two points with nine rebounds, two assists and two turnovers in 24 minutes on Friday against the Clippers.

Advice: He had a quiet preseason and it is a minor concern to see Spencer Hawes have a decent month. Although, Jordan looked good in spots on defense, so he's not going to take a major hit. We wouldn't expect him to be in the top 10 for minutes again this season, but he'll still be an awesome asset except for free throw shooting. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 10:09 pm
  • Blake Griffin puts up 21 points in 25 minutes
Blake Griffin scored 21 points in 25 minutes against the Blazers on Friday with three rebounds, one steal and one turnover.

Advice: On the down side, he shot just 1-of-3 from the line, which has been a problem in his last four. Griffin did have a positive stretch after the break at the line, so maybe that was a fluke, or maybe not. Still, he's probably going to be the top scorer at power forward and add other stats, as well. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 10:07 pm
  • Sleeper alert: Jeremy Lin drops 19 w/ 7 dimes
Jeremy Lin looked great off the bench against the Kings during a 93-92 win with 19 points, one rebound, seven assists, one steal and two 3-pointers.

Advice: He's going to be a huge factor for the Lakers this season and should get his chance to produce no matter where coach Byron Scott uses him. Fantasy owners should be very aggressive in targeting Lin and he's a nice No. 2 fantasy point guard. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 9:50 pm
  • Who's the Boss? Ed Davis w/ big double-double
Ed Davis was outstanding in the preseason finale with 15 points, 13 rebounds, four assists and no turnovers in 30 minutes against the Kings.

Advice: He's had a couple bright spots and is going to be in the rotation to start the season. Davis probably won't be a big enough part of the offense on opening night, but any injury to a fellow Laker big man would make him an interesting option. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 9:45 pm
  • Dante Exum benched after struggling vs. Suns
Dante Exum scored two points with one block and zero rebounds, assists or steals in 10 minutes off Utah's bench on Friday.

Advice: Head coach Quin Snyder said he benched Exum because he was struggling with the physicality of the Suns' guards. That will be a theme for the rookie during the 2014-15 season, and it's one more reason to avoid him on draft day. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 9:11 pm
  • Gordon Hayward scores 24 pts on 8-of-12 FGs
Gordon Hayward led Utah with 24 points on 8-of-12 shooting, five rebounds, three assists and one steal in a losing effort vs. the Suns on Friday.

Advice: A key for fantasy owners is his shooting percentages -- he made a woeful 41.3 percent from the field while adjusting to a bigger role last season, but has made 54.8 percent of his attempts in Utah's past five exhibitions. Hayward heads into the regular season on strong footing and is the unquestioned motor of the Jazz offense, giving him reliable early-round upside. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 9:01 pm
  • Carmelo Anthony ends preseason w/ 24-point gm
Carmelo Anthony's preseason ended with a 24-point performance vs. the Raptors, as he made 8-of-17 FGs, 3-of-8 three-pointers, and 5-of-5 FTs in just 28 minutes of action.

Advice: He didn't do much elsewhere tonight, adding one rebound, zero assists, one steal and three turnovers, but Melo finished the preseason strong with 26.0 points in 31.0 minutes over the Knicks' last three exhibitions. There will be growing pains as the Knicks' flawed roster adapts to the triangle offense, but Melo's fantasy value is about as bullet-proof as it comes. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 7:21 pm
  • Jameer Nelson suffers ankle injury
Jameer Nelson suffered an apparent ankle injury against the Magic on Friday and went to the locker room.

Advice: He had a warm ovation from the Magic fans, but he's likely done for the night. Nelson's ankle injury looked minor, so he is probably not going to miss much time. Stay tuned for an update after the game. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 5:08 pm
  • Kris Humphries gets the stitches out
Kris Humphries (hand) had the stitches removed on Friday and hasn't tested his hand yet.

Advice: He sounds like he could be ready for the regular season and the Wizards will need him with Nene suspended for the opener. Humphries and Kevin Seraphin would get most of the minutes next to Marcin Gortat. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 1:37 pm
  • Tristan Thompson will come off the bench
Tristan Thompson will begin the 2014-15 season coming off the bench for the Cavs.

Advice: Destined for a reserve role, Thompson will enter the 2014-15 season as more of a deep league asset. However, current starting center Anderson Varejao is about as injury prone as they come, so if/when Varejao goes down with an injury, Thompson will gain standard league relevancy as the teams' starting center. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 10:35 am
  • Jeremy Lin locked in for fantasy value
Jeremy Lin is expected to see heavy minutes for the Lakers at point guard.

Advice: With Nash out last year, Kendall Marshall ranked third among all NBA players in assists per game, so Lin is going to have a massive opportunity -- he's also more talented as a scorer. There was never a doubt that Lin was going to get minutes in the 20s and he was already a steal around 100 in drafts, but now owners can look to grab him in the late-middle rounds. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 5:30 pm
  • Norris Cole nearing deadline for extension
Norris Cole and the Heat are closing in on the October 31st deadline for a contract extension.

Advice: "I only can control what I can control," said Cole. "That's being professional and making sure my play on the court is the best it can be, and everything else I'm sure will take care of itself." Cole has taken over starting point guard duties in Miami, and is hoping to ink a new multi-year deal. He could be a steal in later rounds of standard drafts. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 12:43 pm
  • Blake Griffin accused of club altercation
Blake Griffin has been accused by a man of attacking a man during an argument over a photo in a Las Vegas nightclub last weekend.

Advice: Griffin has not been charged after a 39-year-old man filed a battery complaint with Las Vegas police saying that the Clippers' star slapped him after an argument surrounding a photo. We'll have to await more news on this situation, but it doesn't sound like anything that should preclude fantasy owners from taking Griffin in the late-first or early-second round of their fantasy drafts. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 7:45 am
  • Mark Jackson thinks Klay Thompson worth max
Former Warriors head coach Mark Jackson said that he thinks Klay Thompson is worth a max contract.

Advice: As the deadline to keep Thompson from becoming a restricted free agent after the 2014-15 season approaches, Jackson made his feelings clear about his former player. "He’s a guy that will make a boatload of money and in my opinion the best two-way shooting guard in the world, and it’s not even close," Jackson said. "He’s got to get [the max contract]." Thompson has had a strong preseason and is a safe early-round target for fantasy owners due to his three-point shooting prowess. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 6:48 am
  • Blake Griffin returns for 35 points
Blake Griffin came off a day of rest and racked up 35 points, seven rebounds, two steals and no blocks on 14-of-26 shooting on Wednesday.

Advice: Griffin looked great tonight, but didn't block a shot (as usual), and struggled from the line at 7-of-13. His free throw shooting really took a positive jump last season, and while this line doesn't put us in panic mode, it does give us pause. Griffin is going to be a solid late-first, or early-second round pick in all formats. Owners just have to hope tonight's free throw shooting isn't indicative of what's to come. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 10:46 pm
  • Markieff Morris struggles again in loss
Markieff Morris hit just 3-of-9 shots and no 3-pointers for 12 points, five rebounds, three assists and a steal on Wednesday.

Advice: His preseason hasn't gone quite as we had planned, but we're still on board with Morris. Anthony Tolliver didn't do much tonight and any talk of Morris coming off the bench has been quelled. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 10:27 pm
  • Jeremy Lin plays well...off bench again
Jeremy Lin came off the bench again on Wednesday and had 13 points, three rebounds, five assists and a block on 5-of-9 shooting in 25 minutes.

Advice: We still don't know if Lin or Ronnie Price will start on opening night, but we're still listing Lin at No. 1 on the depth chart. Even if he comes off the bench, he should get the majority of minutes and is still the guy you'll want to target on draft night. We're hoping he's coming off the bench as a precaution for his tender ankle, but it sounds like Byron Scott is considering using Lin with the reserves. Stay tuned. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 9:40 pm
  • Chris Kaman scores 12 vs. Lakers
Chris Kaman played through a head injury on Wednesday and hit 5-of-7 shots for 12 points, one rebound, three assists, a steal and two blocks in 23 minutes.

Advice: He started for the Blazers, who rested all their regulars except for Damian Lillard, who played just 17 minutes. Kaman played fairly well against his former team and is having a good preseason, but will likely need an injury from LaMarcus Aldridge or Robin Lopez to make a difference in fantasy. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 9:29 pm
  • Tristan Thompson quiet in 17 minutes
Tristan Thompson had nine points, five rebounds, two steals and zero blocks on 3-of-8 shooting in 17 minutes on Wednesday.

Advice: Anderson Varejao is starting at center and Kevin Love is going to eat up the power forward minutes, but Thompson will see minutes backing up both of them. And once Varejao goes down with an injury (don't kid yourself - it will happen), Thompson could find himself starting at center. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 8:00 pm
  • Uh oh Antetokounmpo: Giannis shoots 0-of-7
Giannis Antetokoumpo missed all seven shots from the field in an otherwise stat-stuffing Wednesday game, adding one point at the line, five rebounds, three assists, four steals, three blocks and eight turnovers in 25 minutes. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 7:49 pm
  • DeAndre Jordan, Jamal Crawford resting
DeAndre Jordan and Jamal Crawford got the night off on Wednesday.

Advice: Blake Griffin and Chris Paul sat out on Tuesday, so this is just a day off for two of the Clippers better players. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 7:41 pm
  • Shane Larkin starts, scores five in win
Shane Larkin started at point guard against the Wizards on Wednesday, posting a line of five points, four boards, four assists and two turnovers in 24 minutes.

Advice: John Wall made him look pretty bad and Larkin's lack of size was a factor tonight. Still, coach Derek Fisher likes his speed and ability to penetrate, so he should be in the rotation. Unless Jose Calderon (calf) misses time, Larkin won't be worth owning in most leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 7:31 pm
  • Carmelo Anthony hits game winner, scores 30
Carmelo Anthony hit the game-winning jumper and got the foul in Wednesday's 103-100 win over the Wizards, scoring 30 points with three rebounds, three assists, three steals and two 3-pointers in 34 minutes.

Advice: He made 11-of-19 from the field and all six shots from the field. Only two of his shots came from within 13 feet and the mid-rangers were dropping. Anthony's shot totals were down, but he's attempted 20.5 per game in his last two. Even if his style does change, he still should fill up the stat sheet enough to warrant a selection at the end of the first round. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 7:26 pm
  • Chris Kaman bitten, tested for concussion
Chris Kaman received three stitches on his head after being accidentally bitten by Nuggets C Timofey Mozgov.

Advice: Kaman said he felt "pretty good" after the game, but the Blazers tested him for a concussion and he's uncertain to play on Wednesday. He isn't holding the bizarre incident against Mozgov, either. "I went back pretty hard and I must've hit him in the chest," Kaman said. "He kind of folded over and his teeth went down on my head." Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 6:14 am
  • DeAndre Jordan picking up where he left off
DeAndre Jordan had 13 points, nine rebounds, five assists, three steals and one block in a losing effort on Tuesday, while making 5-of-8 FGs and 3-of-6 FTs.

Advice: He's picking up right where he left off last season, shooting 76 percent over the past five games while racking up copious rebounds, steals and blocks. His FT shooting is worse than ever (37 percent in the preseason), so roto owners must be wary of his ability to tank a category single-handedly. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 10:24 pm
  • Markieff Morris shoots 3-of-10 for seven pts
Markieff Morris struggled in 27 minutes vs. the Lakers, shooting 3-of-10 from the field for seven points, four rebounds and two assists.

Advice: He chipped in one 3-pointer and one steal, and he has plenty of upside thanks to his statistical versatility and a guaranteed starting job. Don't let a few quiet preseason games fool you -- Kieff is poised for a big season. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 10:01 pm
  • Ed Davis impressive off bench vs. Phoenix
Lakers PF Ed Davis came off the bench for 11 points, six rebounds, one assist, two steals and three blocks in 23 spirited minutes vs. the Suns on Tuesday.

Advice: Davis has quickly emerged as coach Byron Scott's preferred backup big man, reducing Robert Sacre to an afterthought. He's worth a flier pick in deep leagues, as he has the potential to average 5+ rebounds and 1+ blocks with low-volume, high-percentage points. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 10:00 pm
  • Jeremy Lin has 15 pts w/ five dimes off bench
Jeremy Lin returned from two sprained ankles on Tuesday, notching 15 points (including 8-of-10 FTs), four rebounds, five dimes and two steals off the Lakers' bench.

Advice: Ronnie Price started at PG and coach Byron Scott said he likes how Lin has played with the second unit. Lin was returning from injury and we still expect him to get the nod on opening night. He'll hold solid value even if he does begin the season the focal point of the second unit's offense, and the return of Nick Young could also bump him back into the starting five. If you drafted Lin, or plan to, there's no need to panic. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 9:57 pm
  • Danilo Gallinari (knee) on 15-minute limit
Danilo Gallinari (knee surgery) was one of four Nuggets players on a strict minute-limit vs. Portland on Tuesday, finishing with four points, two rebounds and one assist in 14 minutes.

Advice: There will be some rough patches for Gallo early in the season, as he looks to regain his pre-surgery form, so his fantasy owners will have to stay patient. He's had a few preseason scoring outbursts, and his 3-point shooting is unaffected, but he's yet to play more than 15 minutes in a game. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 9:37 pm
  • Norris Cole starts again at point guard
Norris Cole started again at point guard on Tuesday, while Mario Chalmers came off the bench at shooting guard.

Advice: It looks like Cole has won the PG job in Miami, and while he had just seven points, one assist, one steal and one 3-pointer on 3-of-4 shooting tonight, he played just 14 minutes. He's a nice, cheap option at point guard in the later rounds of your draft. Especially if Chalmers is playing shooting guard, and Shabazz Napier is struggling (0-for-7 tonight). Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 8:27 pm
  • Trey Burke scores 23 with three more 3's
Trey Burke hit 9-of-16 shots and three more 3-pointers for 23 points, three rebounds, five assists and a steal on Tuesday.

Advice: He's now hit 16-of-30 3-pointers in the preseason, and has made Dante Exum an afterthought. Once the big-named point guards are off the board, Burke looks like he's primed and ready to go this season. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 8:00 pm
  • Enes Kanter blows up for 27 in win over OKC
Enes Kanter hit 12-of-17 shots and two 3-pointers for 27 points, seven rebounds and a block in 29 minutes on Tuesday.

Advice: Kanter is starting to play well and the talk of him shooting threes this season may not be a joke. Yes, Rudy Gobert is on his tail, but Kanter looks like a lock to be the starting power forward on opening night and beyond for the Jazz. Gobert played 21 minutes and had five points, six rebounds and three blocks off the bench. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 7:55 pm
  • Blake Griffin, CP3 get the night off
Blake Griffin and Chris Paul will both be rested on Tuesday night.

Advice: Nothing to see here, folks. It's simply a preseason day off. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 6:10 pm
  • Chris Kaman playing well off Blazers bench
Chris Kaman is averaging 10.5 points and 8.0 rebounds in his four games off the bench for Portland this preseason.

Advice: If you're in a deep league that requires you starting two centers, Kaman may be worth a look at the end of your draft. And if Robin Lopez or LaMarcus Aldridge go down at some point, he'll become a must-own player. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 5:04 pm
  • Jeremy Lin not starting on Tuesday
Jeremy Lin, who has missed three straight games with a sprained ankle, said he will start on Tuesday, but it's not going to happen.

Advice: Ronnie Price will start in his place, but Lin is expected to return from a three-game absence with a sprained ankle off the bench. The Lakers are running very thin at point guard and if Lin can stay healthy this season, he's going to get a ton of minutes and production. He looks like an enticing sleeper pick once the big names are gone. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 5:01 pm
  • Norris Cole playing through back tightness
Norris Cole is expected to start on Tuesday despite dealing with tightness in his back.

Advice: Cole may start at PG for Miami on opening night, but he faces competition for minutes from both Mario Chalmers and rookie Shabazz Napier. Given the uncertainty surrounding his role and playing time, fantasy owners are better off leaving him undrafted in typical leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 3:34 pm
  • Jeremy Lin (ankles) ready to go vs. Phoenix
Jeremy Lin (sprained ankles) will return to action during Tuesday's exhibition vs. the visiting Suns.

Advice: "Ankles are finally feeling better," Lin wrote. "Excited to get back on the court tonight!" Steve Nash's ongoing sciatica pain has him questionable for the start of the regular season, and the starting PG job should belong to Lin all season regardless of Nash's health. He has enough statistical versatility to return mid-round value, and his late-round ADP makes him a solid value in most fantasy drafts. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 2:54 pm
  • Kris Humphries' stitches not yet removed
The stitches in Kris Humphries' right hand were not removed during his post-surgery checkup on Monday.

Advice: Humphries gashed his hand on the rim during a preseason game, damaging a nerve in his right pinkie finger, and he was given a 3-4 week timetable on Oct. 10. He's very questionable to play in the Wizards' season opener, and Nene will be serving a suspension, so more minutes should be available for DeJuan Blair , Drew Gooden and Kevin Seraphin. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 11:52 am
  • Carmelo takes 22 shots after Triange comments
Carmelo Anthony took 22 shots after saying he might shoot less in the Triangle Offense, hitting seven of them for 24 points in the Knicks' 120-107 preseason loss to the Bucks on Monday.

Advice: While it's reasonable that Anthony is compelled to make the extra pass with Derek Fisher and Phil Jackson calling the shots, we'll wait for further proof that he's going to take less shots before adjusting our projections by anything more than a smidge. Rotoworld.com

  • Thompson looks like he's coming off the bench
Tristan Thompson came off the bench in Monday's preseason game against the Bulls, scoring 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting with eight rebounds and two blocks in 24 minutes.

Advice: Hopefully he can keep the blocks up but 0.4 per game last season is probably a better indicator. David Blatt said tonight's game would be run like a regular season game and that probably means Thompson is the swing big backing up both Anderson Varejao and Kevin Love. He has a hard time accumulating value as a big-minute starter, so needless to say this news moves him further into deep league territory. Rotoworld.com

  • Danilo Gallinari (cold) doesn't practice Mon.
Danilo Gallinari (cold) did not practice on Monday, and is now questionable for Tuesday's preseason game vs. Portland.

Advice: He's just sick, and this is highly unlikely to impact his status for the regular season opener. Danilo has looked great throughout the preseason so far, and he's well worth a late-round selection for his ability to drain 3-pointers and bolster the free throw percentage category. He is an injury risk, but there's some decent upside here. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 2:04 pm
  • Tristan Thompson coming off the bench
Tristan Thompson will come off the bench against the Bulls on Monday.

Advice: He's actually been great so far this preseason, making 20-of-34 from the field and 15-of-19 from the line. Thompson isn't a great foul shooter and only somehow blocked just 0.4 shots per game last season, so fantasy owners shouldn't be too eager to pick him up. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 8:41 am
  • Norris Cole could lose some minutes
Norris Cole could be in jeopardy of losing regular minutes with they way rookie Shabazz Napier has played this month.

Advice: This may seem obvious, but a lot has to do with how the Heat use Mario Chalmers. He's been playing a lot of minutes at shooting guard because the Heat have some depth issues there. Meanwhile, Napier has been one of the best rookies in the preseason. If Chalmers does start at point guard, the minutes for Cole are going to be very tough to come by. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 6:49 am
  • Harrison Barnes plays 24 minutes vs. HOU
Harrison Barnes had another efficient preseason outing on Sunday against the Rockets, making 5-of-7 from the field for 13 points with two boards and one turnover.

Advice: He's shot at least 57 percent from the field in four of his last five games, averaging 9.8 points, 3.0 boards, 1.2 steals, 0.6 blocks and 0.6 triples in that span. It is preseason, so it's tough to get overly excited about Barnes' chances of breaking out. Fantasy owners in standard leagues should be able to do better. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 6:31 am
  • Rudy Gobert plays 26 minutes on Sunday
Rudy Gobert played a preseason-high 26 minutes against the Lakers on Sunday with eight points, 10 rebounds, one assist and four blocks.

Advice: He played 25 minutes on Friday and his minutes are starting to rise. Gobert played more than 22 minutes just twice last season and he'll have a shot to play more than 20 per game this year. If he keeps blocking shots at the rate he's been on in the preseason, he could be a specialist in fantasy leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 6:20 am
  • Dante Exum quiet in start at PG w/ Burke out
Dante Exum started at PG on Sunday and finished with five points, four rebounds, five assists, one steal and four turnovers in 28 minutes vs. the Lakers.

Advice: He made 2-of-7 field goals (0-of-4 from deep) and only started because Trey Burke was given the night off. As a 19-year-old with minimal professional experience and a backup role, fantasy owners are right to be skeptical of his value as a rookie. Rotoworld.com
    Sunday, 10:31 pm
  • Enes Kanter struggles in another start at PF
Enes Kanter scored 14 points with seven rebounds and one assist vs. the Lakers on Sunday, before fouling out in 38 minutes.

Advice: Kanter made 7-of-15 field goals while going 0-of-3 from downtown and failing to attempt a single free throw. He added zero steals but did block one shot for his second defensive stat of the preseason, while allowing Carlos Boozer to explode for 19 points, nine boards and a career-high-tying six steals. The Kanter-as-PF experiment is still in a testing phase. Rotoworld.com
    Sunday, 9:21 pm
  • Hayward, Favors rested in road loss to Lakers
Gordon Hayward and Derek Favors each played 12 minutes before sitting out Utah's loss in L.A. as a precaution.

Advice: Hayward racked up eight points, three assists and three steals, and Favors was equally impressive, but the Jazz predictably lost their footing once they were pulled by coach Quin Snyder. Both of Utah's cornerstone players should see an uptick in playing time for Tuesday's road game vs. the Thunder. Rotoworld.com
    Sunday, 9:14 pm
  • Trey Burke resting, Dante Exum starts at PG
Trey Burke will be given a precautionary night off on Sunday, allowing Dante Exum to start at PG for the Jazz.

Advice: Burke has been terrific this preseason and he's coming off a game with 21 points, five rebounds and six assists, so he's earned a bit of rest. His FG percentage remains a concern but that's not uncommon for PGs, and he has enough upside to warrant a selection in the late rounds. Rotoworld.com
    Sunday, 6:50 pm
  • Jeremy Lin sits out again w/ sprained ankle
Jeremy Lin (ankle) will sit out Sunday's exhibition, as expected, allowing A.J. Price to start at PG.

Advice: Lin is likely to start at PG even if Steve Nash's nerve damage subsides prior to opening night, which seems very doubtful. He averaged 15.6 points, 1.4 threes, 3.3 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.2 steals on a 36-minute-per-game basis with Houston last year, which should set fantasy owners' expectations for 2014-15. Rotoworld.com
    Sunday, 4:59 pm
  • Kris Humphries (hand) to be examined Monday
Kris Humphries (hand) will have his surgically-repaired hand examined on Monday.

Advice: He is making good progress and we should know more after tomorrow's consultation. He is still expected to be out until late October at the earliest. He is not recommended for standard leagues at the moment. Rotoworld.com
    Sunday, 11:46 am
  • Klay Thompson (rest) out Sunday vs. Houston
Klay Thompson (rest) will not play in Sunday's exhibition game vs. Houston.

Advice: Klay has been lights out this preseason, shooting 53.6 percent from the field, and a ridiculous 58.6 percent from 3-point range through five preseason games. He's a primary piece of Golden State's offense, and they weren't willing to include him in any deal, even if it would have netted them Kevin Love. Thompson is set to have another great year, and could see his assist total rise a bit in the Warriors new ball-movement oriented offense. Target him in the early rounds and don't look back. Sunday, 10:46 am
  • Jeremy Lin's end in HOU not how he envisioned
Jeremy Lin's exit from Houston was not how he envisioned it, but he's not bitter towards the franchise that traded him for close to nothing.

Advice: "When I first got [to Houston], I was supposed to be the guy and they were supposed to kind of hand the torch to me," said Lin. "And I ended up getting traded away basically for nothing. Actually, they had to give up a draft pick to convince someone else to take me. Pretty much given away for nothing. Definitely not how I envisioned it." Jeremy Lin is now in a much better situation in LA, and with Steve Nash unable to stay healthy, Lin will see heavy minutes in the Lakers' rotation. He makes for an excellent late-round selection with plenty of upside. Rotoworld.com
    Sunday, 7:28 am
  • Snyder wants improvement from Enes Kanter
Head coach Quin Snyder wants Enes Kanter to focus on the details this season, and become a better defensive player.

Advice: "I want him to get better and commit to improving on both sides of the floor in every facet of the game," Snyder said. "If defense doesn’t come easily, then he has to focus on it. Enes has to make the minor details important, even things like getting into a stance. But he’s [22] years old, and we’re evaluating him against the best players in the world at a young age." Kanter's lack of defensive stats has been the greatest impediment to his fantasy value, and through five preseason games this season, Kanter has recorded just one steal and zero blocks. Currently, Kanter is locked into the starting power forward position with Utah, but if he continues to be useless defensively, he could lose playing time to emerging defensive stud Rudy Gobert. Sunday, 6:49 am
  • Blake Griffin scores 27 points vs. Nuggets
Blake Griffin scored 27 points with five rebounds, one steal and one block in 31 minutes.

Advice: He was 9-of-13 from the line, which has been a bit of a problem in the preseason. Griffin was 3-of-9 on Friday, so hopefully he's just in a funk. His 74 percent from the line after the break might have been a bit of a fluke. Rotoworld.com
    Saturday, 10:36 pm
  • Danilo Gallinari plays 15 minutes on Sat.
Danilo Gallinari played 15 minutes against the Clippers on Saturday with 12 points, one rebound, one assist and one 3-pointer.

Advice: He is only getting minutes in the teens and will likely have his minutes in check to start the year. Gallinari looks great so far and could be a start-worthy player in all leagues when the calendar turns to 2015, but he'll start slow. Plan accordingly. Rotoworld.com
    Saturday, 10:13 pm
  • Norris Cole gets outshined by Napier
Norris Cole played just 17 minutes against the Spurs during a 111-108 win on Saturday with seven points, one rebound, one assist and one steal.

Advice: The Heat went to the line a whopping 47 times tonight because of Shabazz Napier taking 14 of them. Cole is still likely to be ahead of Napier, but the gap is closing. Neither are worthy of drafting in most leagues, but Cole does take a mild hit in deeper formats. Rotoworld.com
    Saturday, 8:55 pm
  • Evan Fournier puts up a dud vs. Philly
Evan Fournier made 1-of-6 from the field against the 76ers on Saturday for two points, one rebound, one assist and two steals in 27 minutes.

Advice: It wasn't a great game for him after being rested on Wednesday. Fournier is going to come off the bench and spell Victor Oladipo (knee), but he'll have some ball-handling opportunities. Fantasy owners can give him a look late in 16-team drafts. Rotoworld.com
    Saturday, 7:17 pm
  • Jameer Nelson (rest) out for Saturday's game
Jameer Nelson (rest) is out for Saturday's exhibition game.

Advice: He has looked like the leading candidate to start at PG for the Mavs early on and has looked strong in the preseason. He is slowly making his way up draft boards and may be worth a look late in drafts, even with Raymond Felton and Devin Harris in town. Rotoworld.com
    Saturday, 3:39 pm
  • Jeremy Lin (ankle) unlikely for Sunday's game
Jeremy Lin (ankle) is unlikely to suit up for Sunday's exhibition against the Jazz.

Advice: He was spotted getting up some jumpers at Saturday's practice which is a good indication that he is making progress from his recently sprained ankle. We expect him to be ready for the season opener and the Lakers are just being cautious at the moment. Lin projects as a solid late-round selection as he should see plenty of minutes in LA's backcourt this season. Rotoworld.com
    Saturday, 1:25 pm
  • Carmelo Anthony expecting fewer shots
Carmelo Anthony said on Saturday that he is expecting to take fewer shots in the triangle offense this season.

Advice: While this may be slightly discouraging to hear, it is too early to buy what Carmelo is saying. He is arguably the most dominant scorer in the game today and we can't see his scoring going down too much on a Knicks team that lacks talent. If anything, we expect his assists to take a slight bump with the emphasis of moving the ball around more. He is easily a first-round target this season. Rotoworld.com
    Saturday, 11:38 am
  • Hayward scores 22 points, hits all 12 FTs
Gordon Hayward lit up the box score in Friday's 101-97 preseason loss to the Clippers, scoring 22 points on 4-of-7 shooting (2-of-4 3PTs, 12-of-12 FTs) with six rebounds, four assists and six steals.

Advice: Keep in mind that these games are loose and often generate pinball statistics. Hayward looks the part after his time with Team USA and has early round upside with a nice and safe mid-round floor. Rotoworld.com
    Friday, 11:38 pm
  • Burke posts 21-5-6 line against CP3, Clips
Trey Burke's excellent preseason continued on Friday against Chris Paul and the Clippers, as he hit 7-of-15 shots for 21 points, five rebounds, six assists, one steal and two 3-pointers in 36 minutes.

Advice: The Jazz took the Clips all the way to the end and Burke was right in the middle of it, as he continues to put distance between he and Dante Exum while also upping his fantasy ceiling into the late-middle rounds. His empty defensive stats hold him back, but this is the player that had Las Vegas setting him as the prohibitive favorite for Rookie of the Year right after he was drafted. Rotoworld.com
    Friday, 11:34 pm
  • Thompson scores 29 points in loss to Heat
Klay Thompson scored 29 points on 10-of-21 shooting (including four threes) with two rebounds, five assists, one steal and one block in Friday's preseason loss to the Heat.

Advice: Thompson is going to hang a bunch of these on the opposition this year. David Lee added 24 points with six rebounds and Stephen Curry had a slow night with seven points on 2-of-10 shooting and an otherwise full stat line. Rotoworld.com
    Friday, 11:02 pm
  • Leonard (neck) gets back on the floor
Meyers Leonard (neck) returned to action on Friday, playing nine minutes off the bench with six points, five rebounds and three assists.

Advice: Leonard is a man without a role for the Blazers these days. With Chris Kaman set to get backup center minutes he's trying to morph into a stretch four but that's going to be a heavy lift. Fantasy owners can safely ignore him until he shows us something. Rotoworld.com
    Friday, 10:47 pm
  • Thompson double-doubles in start
Tristan Thompson double-doubled in another start on Friday, scoring 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting with 11 rebounds in 30 minutes.

Advice: That's the good news. The bad news is that as usual he didn't do anything else in the box score and outside of points leagues those other categories count too. Kevin Love (neck) was held out tonight so Anderson Varejao (seven points, seven rebounds, three assists, four steals) also started and we did not get much clarity on who will be in the starting lineup on Opening Night. Rotoworld.com
    Friday, 8:49 pm
  • Nelson getting comfortable as Mavs starter
Jameer Nelson scored 19 points on 7-of-9 shooting (including four threes) with four rebounds and three assists over 29 minutes in Friday's exhibition win over the Cavs.

Advice: Raymond Felton is out with a high ankle sprain and he'll be serving a suspension to start the year, but even when he returns Nelson is a cut above Felton and may be able to sustain this type of workload. If you had previously written off the Dallas backcourt due to it being a three-headed monster, and you're desperate for a low-end point guard, Nelson is worth a look. Rotoworld.com
    Friday, 8:45 pm
  • Cole to start over Chalmers again on Friday
Norris Cole will start at point guard instead of Mario Chalmers in Friday's exhibition against the Warriors.

Advice: All Eric Spoelstra would offer about the decision to local media was, "Just trying to get to know our team." There's been a lot of smoke surrounding Chalmers' disappearing act this preseason and owners should consider the possibility that Cole is moving in on the job. Stay tuned. Rotoworld.com
    Friday, 4:37 pm
  • Iggy wants to help Draymond Green get paid
Andre Iguodala wants to help Draymond Green get paid by making an effort to give him some extra looks while they're on the floor together.

Advice: "Draymond Green’s in a contract year," said Iguodala. "So I’m going to be looking to give him a couple extra [passes]. He’s going to fill up the basket a little bit more with me on the court with him as well." Draymond's ability to contribute to every category on the stat sheet is fantasy gold, and he was fantastic during the playoffs last year, averaging 11.9 points, 1.1 three-pointers, 8.3 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1.7 blocks per game. Green offers a lot of upside as a late-round selection. Rotoworld.com
    Friday, 2:20 pm
  • Jeremy Lin (ankle) hopeful to play Sunday
Jeremy Lin (ankle) is hopeful that he'll be able to suit up for Sunday's preseason game vs. the Jazz.

Advice: The Lakers could certainly use him back, as they've been running with Ronnie Price as their starting point guard with both Lin and Steve Nash (back) on the sidelines. While Lin may not enter the season as the team's starting point guard, he still makes for an intriguing late-round selection with some upside, as there's basically no way Nash makes it through a full season. Lin should be able to offer some assists, steals, and 3-pointers to a fantasy squad, while hitting free throws at an efficient rate. Rotoworld.com
    Friday, 12:54 pm
  • Meyers Leonard will play on Friday night
Meyers Leonard (neck) will play against Maccabi Haifa on Friday.

Advice: He suffered a neck injury last week and returned to practice on Wednesday. With Chris Kaman helping off the bench, Leonard is going to have a tough time getting minutes. Rotoworld.com
    Friday, 6:50 am
  • Dante Exum has his best line as a pro
Dante Exum had his best game as a pro on Thursday against the Lakers, making 3-of-6 from the field for 13 points, one rebound, six assists, no turnovers and one 3-pointer.

Advice: He made all six attempts from the line and was a huge plus off the bench. The Lakers have been lost on defense, so this terrific game does come with a grain of salt. He's going to start the season slow, but maybe he'll be on the radar in a couple months. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 10:39 pm
  • Gordon Hayward carves up the Lake Show
Gordon Hayward scored 16 points on 5-of-7 shooting to go with four assists, four steals, two blocks and one 3-pointer on Thursday.

Advice: It sure does help to go against the Lakers, but this was Hayward's best game. He added some muscle to his frame and it should help his field goal percentage. He could put it all together and be a top-20 player this season. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 10:30 pm
  • Markieff Morris looks great off the bench
Markieff Morris came off the bench and played 23 minutes against the Spurs on Thursday, making 7-of-10 from the field for 17 points, seven rebounds, one steal and one 3-pointer.

Advice: He hasn't been completely unleashed in the preseason, but the stats have been there in limited playing time. All the pieces are in place for a Markieff breakout after being the 38th-best player in nine-category leagues after the break last season. Plus, that was with Channing Frye around. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 10:04 pm
  • Klay Thompson scores 18 points in 17 minutes
Klay Thompson continued his magnificent preseason on Thursday with 18 points, four rebounds, five assists, one steal, two blocks and three 3-pointers.

Advice: He's ridiculous right now. Thompson is 13-of-20 from beyond the arc and has an unbelievably efficient 69.8 effective field goal percentage on the preseason. He's looking to cash in during his contract season and will have no problem putting up top-50 value this season. It's just a bonus that he hasn't missed a game due to injury in his career. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 9:27 pm
  • Harrison Barnes scores five in start
Harrison Barnes played 35 minutes in the starting lineup against the Nuggets on Thursday, making just 2-of-8 from the field for five points with five rebounds, one assist and two steals.

Advice: He's the favorite to start for the Warriors, but that doesn't necessarily mean he'll have fantasy value. Fantasy owners are much better off grabbing Draymond Green later in their drafts. Green and nine points, four rebounds and one assist in 26 minutes. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 9:22 pm
  • Danilo Gallinari won't play on Thursday
Danilo Gallinari (rest) will not play against the Warriors on Thursday.

Advice: He has been up and down in his preseason action, but there has been no soreness in his surgically-repaired knee. It's going to take Gallinari a while before he can play consistent minutes in the 20s, but he could have a strong finish in 2014-15. Fantasy owners can give him a look late if they want to gamble. • Knicks pick up Shane Larkin's 3rd year option
The New York Knicks have decided to pick up Shake Larkin's third-year contract option, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.

Advice: After going back and forth, the Knicks have decided to guarantee the $1.67 million on his Larkin's for the 2015-16 season. The 22-year-old is averaging 2.5 points and 1.5 assists in 20 minutes per game during the preseason and isn't much of a standard league fantasy option unless Jose Calderon goes down with an injury. Thursday, 7:55 am
  • Tristan Thompson over his shoulder injury
Tristan Thompson returned to action from a sore shoulder on Wednesday and hit 3-of-6 shots for six points, nine rebounds and two assists in 26 minutes.

Advice: He's going to see a lot of minutes at power forward and especially center, if Anderson Varejao can't stay healthy. He's worth a late draft pick even if coming off the bench. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 9:29 pm
  • Less champagne: Evan Fournier resting
Evan Fournier is getting rest on Wednesday and will not play.

Advice: He's fine and is just getting rest. Coach Jacque Vaughn has been impressed with Fournier and he's going to be a key cog in the second unit. He's worth a look in 16-team leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 4:52 pm
  • Tristan Thompson (shoulder) will play Wed.
Tristan Thompson (shoulder) will play on Wednesday night.

Advice: He had a minor shoulder injury keep him out of the lineup on Tuesday. Thompson is expected to start at center this season, but he's one of the most inefficient players in the league and will really need to post some eye-popping stats to become a top-100 player. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 3:20 pm
  • Meyers Leonard back at practice
Meyers Leonard (neck) returned to practice on Wednesday.

Advice: He was able to take on contact in his first action of the week. Leonard hasn't quite lived up to being a first-round pick and will need a few things to happen to get regular playing time. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 1:02 pm
  • Myers confirms talk of Barnes as starter
General manager Bob Myers confirmed that Harrison Barnes could be the starting small forward.

Advice: "It's a possibility," Myers said. It's become more and more likely that Barnes starts for the Warriors, which is risky after a massive letdown in his sophomore season. He still isn't going to be worth drafting in most leagues until proven otherwise. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 12:05 pm
  • Norris Cole starts at point guard again
Norris Cole started at point guard again for the Heat, finishing with nine points, two rebounds, four assists, a steal and a 3-pointer on 4-of-7 shooting in 24 minutes on Tuesday.

Advice: Mario Chalmers was out with a hip injury, but may be in the process of losing his job to Cole. We've still got Chalmers atop the depth chart, but that could change at any time, as Super Mario hasn't been too super thus far. Rotoworld.com
