  • Amir Johnson (ankle) ready to play vs. Nets
Amir Johnson said that his ankle feels "good" as he prepares to defend Paul Pierce in the first round of the playoffs.

Advice: It's a tough matchup for Johnson and it will be even harder if his ankle limits his mobility. Since the All-Star break Johnson has averaged 10.4 points on 60.0 percent shooting, with 6.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.2 blocks per game. Rotoworld.com

  • Darrell Arthur planning to pick up option
Darrell Arthur is planning to pick up his player option of $3.4 million this offseason.

Advice: It's kind of a no-brainer for Arthur after yet another injury-plagued season. He played just 17.1 minutes per game and couldn't really get much playing time despite the Nuggets having very little depth down the stretch. He The 26-year-old forward won't have much fantasy value next season. Rotoworld.com

  • Kupchak: Pau Gasol is a priority this summer
General manager Mitch Kupchak said on Friday that Pau Gasol is a "priority" this offseason.

Advice: "If you look at the free agents, there probably isn't anyone as good as Pau on the board," Kupchak said. While this isn't a surprising quote, the Lakers should certainly look to bring Pau back despite their ending result on the standings. He finished with averages of 17.4 points, 9.7 boards and 1.5 blocks, so he'll be a high pick in fantasy leagues next year. Rotoworld.com

  • Michael Beasley says ankle is fine
Michael Beasley (ankle) said he is fine.

Advice: Beasley rolled his ankle during Wednesday's regular-season finale against the Sixers. He'll be available for Game 1 against the Bobcats Sunday, but probably will end up as a DNP-CD. Rotoworld.com

  • Joakim Noah (bereavement) skips practice
Joakim Noah (personal) did not practice Friday.

Advice: Noah was excused for bereavement reasons. He's in New York, but is expected to rejoin the team in Chicago Saturday. The Bulls open up their first-round series against the Wizards at 7pm ET on Sunday night. Rotoworld.com

  • Nuggets can negotiate with Faried this summer
The Nuggets can begin extension negotiations with Kenneth Faried in July.

Advice: Faried is entering the final year of his rookie contract in 2014-15. He's coming off a spectacular second half of the season that saw him average 18.8 points, 10.1 rebounds and 1.1 steals while shooting 54.6 percent after the All-Star break. If Faried believes he can sustain that level of play -- and there's little reason to think he can't -- then he'd be better off playing out his contract and hitting unrestricted free agency in the summer of 2015. • Kings plan to keep Rudy Gay no matter what
The Kings will try to retain Rudy Gay even if he exercises his opt-out clause.

Advice: Gay can become an unrestricted free agent by opting out of a contract that will pay him $19.3 million next year. We'd be a little surprised if he passed up that kind of cash, but it's possible considering how much the Kings coaches and front office reportedly like him. Gay may see the opt-out as a chance to get a more guaranteed money in a long-term deal. Rotoworld.com

  • Antetokounmpo plans to get stronger
Giannis Antetokounmpo said he's going to focus on getting stronger this summer.

Advice: Antetokounmpo was playing in Greece's second division before making the leap to the NBA this season. Considering that and his 6'9/210 frame, he handled himself very well. At age 19, his per-36 minute stats were 10.0 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.2 blocks, 1.1 steals and 0.8 3-pointers. It's the kind of line we look for when trying to project future fantasy assets. The Greek Freak's progress this offseason will determine how much playing time he gets next season. Rotoworld.com

  • Thadd Young won't rule out asking for trade
Thaddeus Young said it's "a possibility" that he'll ask management to trade him this summer.

Advice: Young has repeatedly said all he wants to do is win, and the Sixers are at least two years away from doing that. The 25-year-old is under contract for $9.1 million next season and then has a player option for $9.7 million in 2015-16. Given those reasonable cap hits and Young's unique ability to score without plays called for him, he'd attract plenty of attention on the trade market. Thadd averaged career-highs in points (17.9), assists (2.3), steals (2.1) and 3-pointers (1.1) this season. Rotoworld.com

  • Nerlens Noel plans to play in Summer League
Nerlens Noel (knee) expects to play in Summer League.

Advice: It's time for the bubble wrap to come off Noel, who tore his ACL in February of 2013. He was participating in 5-on-5 scrimmages with the Sixers for the final couple weeks and is not expecting to have any restrictions this summer. Noel, now up to 228 pounds, is a name to monitor very closely ahead of 2014-15 fantasy drafts. He averaged 9.1 rebounds, 4.4 blocks and 2.1 steals as a freshman at Kentucky. Those defensive skills typically translate quickly to the NBA level. Rotoworld.com

  • Bulls, Lakers, Rockets, Clips to pursue Melo?
The Bulls, Rockets, Lakers and Clippers are among the teams expected to pursue unrestricted free agent Carmelo Anthony.

Advice: The Knicks can offer Anthony a five-year, $129 contract. The max he can get from other teams is four years and $95 million. But the Knicks have almost no room to reshape their roster, so re-signing there would not give Anthony his best shot at his stated goal of winning. If he's serious about competing for a title, Melo will take a massive pay cut and sign with Chicago, which could field a starting five of Derrick Rose, Jimmy Butler, Anthony, Taj Gibson and Joakim Noah. • Al Horford won't make it back for playoffs
Al Horford (pectoral) is out for the entire preseason.

Advice: Fans were holding out hope that Horford could make a return if the Hawks upset the Pacers and advance to Round 2. It's not happening. Horford has torn each of his pectorals in the last three years and this tear is considered more severe. He's concentrating on getting healthy for 2014-15, where he'll be a risk/reward kind of fantasy play. Horford was averaging 18.6 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks on 56.7 percent shooting in the 29 games before his December injury. Rotoworld.com

  • Report: Joel will exercise player option
A source tells CSNNW.com that Celtics F/C Joel Anthony will exercise his player option for the 2014/15 season.

Advice: It's a no-brainer decision for Anthony as he'll earn a guaranteed $3.8 million next season and then become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2015. He averaged 7.1 minutes per game in 21 appearances for the Celtics this season. Rotoworld.com

  • Jazz GM expects to retain RFA Hayward
GM Dennis Lindsey said he hopes restricted free agent Gordon Hayward is a "career Jazz member."

Advice: At just 24 years old, Hayward was one of just four players to average 15 points, five rebounds and five assists. The others were LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Michael Carter-Williams. Hayward's 41.3 percent shooting leaves a lot to be desired, but the Jazz would be silly not to match any offer within reason. They can afford him and a max free agent if it comes to that. • Pau Gasol says he could be done with Lakers
Pau Gasol admitted his time with the Lakers could be over during his exit interview on Thursday.

Advice: "I'll be in charge of my future and my destiny," Gasol said. "This could be my last day [with the Lakers], maybe." To be clear, this isn't really a big story or anything. There will be endless rumors about the Lakers considering their popularity and how they had the worst season of their history. Gasol will be an unrestricted free agent this summer after turning in a solid 2013-14 season based on statistical output. Rotoworld.com

  • Thaddeus Young could play small forward
Thaddeus Young could play small forward next season, according to coach Brett Brown.

Advice: It would make a lot of sense. The Sixers were torched on interior defense and they certainly need more size in the paint. Young has plenty of experience at small forward and would have a seamless transition back to his old role. His 2.11 steals per game ranked third in the NBA and he is the first forward to average over 2.0 per game in a season since 2007-08. Rotoworld.com

  • Melo: 'I want to come back' to Knicks
Carmelo Anthony said on Thursday that he wants to return to the Knicks, but added that he also wants to win next year.

Advice: "I want to come back. I also want to win," he said. Whether Melo stays with the Knicks will be a hot topic from now until a decision is made, and while the addition of Phil Jackson gives them some hope, he's also excited to become a free agent. He will likely opt out in July and then start testing the market. Yes, the 'Summer of Melo' is approaching quickly. Melo said on Thursday he doesn't care about the money and just wants to win, while the Knicks can offer him more than any other team - five years, $129 million. Rotoworld.com

  • Rudy Gay played just 16 minutes on Wednesday
Rudy Gay played 16 minutes against the Suns on Wednesday, scoring six points with six boards, two assists and one turnover.

Advice: It was a bit of a surprise to even see him in the lineup after missing Sunday's game due to a back injury. Gay had a tremendous turnaround with the Kings after putting up some horrible efficiency with the Raptors earlier this year. The Kings got him more buckets in transition and he was much better off screens, so he could keep it up in 2014-15. Rotoworld.com

  • Amir Johnson rolls ankle on Wednesday
Amir Johnson looked to suffer an ankle injury against the Knicks on Wednesday.

Advice: There has been no word from the team just yet, but he did play only 15 minutes after he seemed a bit hobbled. Johnson scored just two points with four boards, one assist and two turnovers in a loss. He'll need the two days off as the Raptors head into the playoffs. They'll face the Nets this weekend and if he's out, Patrick Patterson will take over at PF. Rotoworld.com

  • Thaddeus Young drops 20 & 9 in win over Heat
Thaddeus Young had 20 points, nine rebounds and two more steals in Wednesday's season finale win over the Heat.

Advice: The Sixers somehow beat the Heat twice this season, although it's not fair to call the Miami team that took the court tonight the Heat. Henry Sims, MCW, James Anderson, Brandon Davies and Caspar Ware all scored in double figures in the meaningless game. Young had a great season and his steals and threes, along with his strong offense and rebounding, were pleasant surprises this season. Rotoworld.com

  • Michael Beasley (ankle) out for game
Michael Beasley sprained his right ankle and will not return to Wednesday's game vs. the Sixers.

Advice: It's too bad because he was getting some run tonight, finishing with eight points, one board, two blocks and one turnover. Beasley's minutes figure to drop back down in the playoffs, but the team got a heck of a lot more than they bargained for from him this season. Rotoworld.com

  • Rudy Gay, Isaiah Thomas will play on Wed.
Rudy Gay (back) and Isaiah Thomas (quad) will play on Wednesday night.

Advice: This is a bit of a surprise and Gay's back must be feeling good. He missed Sunday's game and should be busy tonight with DeMarcus Cousins (suspension) out. Derrick Williams could still get some run at power forward tonight and is a possible fantasy option. Rotoworld.com

  • Kenneth Faried with 21 & 6 in loss
Kenneth Faried had 21 points and six rebounds on 7-of-12 shooting in Tuesday's loss to the Clippers.

Advice: The Nuggets have nothing to play for, but Faried is hot and may want to go out on a high note against the Warriors on Wednesday. Rotoworld.com
  • Josh Powell signed by Rockets
Big man Josh Powell passed his physical and was signed by the Rockets on Tuesday.

Advice: He'll give them a little depth in the playoffs, but that's about it. Rotoworld.com

  • Carmelo Anthony (shoulder) has torn labrum
Carmelo Anthony has been diagnosed with a torn labrum in his right shoulder, but he will not require surgery.

Advice: Melo will be re-evaluated in one month and it's very interesting that an MRI revealed the tear only after he'd played in a number of games to help the Knicks' slim chances of making the playoffs. While his toughness is commendable, the Knicks' medical staff and management have questions to answer about letting their star risk aggravating a serious injury. Carmelo is expected to enter free agency via his early-termination option, and once the playoffs end he'll be the focus of this summer's FA frenzy. Rotoworld.com

  • Woodson: Melo 'probably won't play' Tuesday
Mike Woodson said on Tuesday morning that Carmelo Anthony "probably won't" play against the Nets, and that he will likely shut him down for Wednesday, as well.

Advice: TNT is getting a dog of a game, as Amare Stoudemire is a game-time decision, while the Nets will be without Shaun Livingston, Mirza Teletovic and Alan Anderson, and also list Deron Williams, Paul Pierce and Joe Johnson as game-time calls. It would take a small miracle to see Melo in uniform at this point, as he deals with a lost season, a sore shoulder and pending free agency. Rotoworld.com

  • Carmelo Anthony misses shootaround
Carmelo Anthony missed shootaround on Tuesday in order to have his right shoulder re-examined.

Advice: He's listed as questionable for tonight's game against the Nets on TNT, but it would be fairly surprising to see him play. J.R. Smith might take 50 shots tonight, while it's possible Melo has played his last game for the New York Knicks. Rotoworld.com

  • Gordon Hayward scores 21 points in loss
Gordon Hayward scored 21 points with six boards, four assists and one 3-pointer against the Lakers during Monday's 119-104 loss.

Advice: The Jazz were able to score the ball a bit, but their defense continues to hurt them. They will finish this season with the worst record in the Western Conference and have a decision to make on free-agent Hayward. His 41.3 percent from the field is a weakness, but it's hard to be too tough on him considering the lack of help around him on the perimeter. Rotoworld.com

  • Johnson scores 10 points with two threes
Amir Johnson scored 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting (including two threes) with five rebounds, three assists and one steal in Monday's win.

Advice: Johnson logged 28 minutes and with the Raps likely tied with the Bulls for the No. 3 seed after tonight, his chances of playing on Wednesday are better than they might have been in a less competitive scenario. Patrick Patterson (three points, 1-of-7 FGs, five boards, two steals, 20 minutes) has taken a back seat with Johnson playing well. Rotoworld.com

  • Michael Beasley scores 18 points off bench
Michael Beasley scored 18 points in Monday's blowout 114-93 loss to the Wizards, adding five boards, three assists, one steal, one block and two turnovers in 27 minutes.

Advice: The Heat sat Chris Bosh and LeBron James tonight to allow Beasley to put up a nice line in his home town. He'll likely be looking at another chance on Wednesday vs. the Sixers with the Heat locked into the two spot in the Eastern Conference. Considering how he likes to dominate the ball, Beasley could be looking at a big night should Miami sit their guys out again. Rotoworld.com

  • Darrell Arthur traveling for Tuesday night
Darrell Arthur (knee) is traveling for Tuesday's game vs. the Clippers and is expected to play.

Advice: He suffered a knee injury on Saturday and has really struggled to stay healthy. Arthur's minutes will likely be capped around 20, so he's not a strong start on a two-game night. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 1:48 pm
  • Josh Powell planning to sign with Rockets
The Rockets plan to sign Josh Powell for the rest of the season.

Advice: The Rockets are looking to add another big man and would probably be best suited to get a player out of the NBA so he can be eligible for the playoffs. Powell has been out of the league since 2010-11 and has played on five teams since 2005-06. The 31-year-old big man was cut by the Knicks in training camp. Rotoworld.com

  • Michael Beasley likely to start at SF on Mon.
Michael Beasley is likely to start at SF on Monday with LeBron James (rest) doubtful to play.

Advice: Beasley has played exactly one minute in Miami's past five games, but there's a good chance he'll get aired out vs. the Wizards. In two previous starts this season, Beasley averaged 12.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 27 minutes per contest. He's a D.C. native, adding further intrigue to his potential for a big game tonight. Rotoworld.com
