  • Dario Saric expected to practice Tuesday
Dario Saric (face) is expected to practice on Tuesday.

Advice: He took a shot to the face at Monday's practice, and while he will be re-evaluated, it doesn't sound serious at all. Saric should be the starting PF on opening night and is looking at a heavy workload. Yesterday, 4:51 pm
  • Frank Kaminsky is ‘making lots of progress'
Hornets forward Frank Kaminsky (foot strain) is "making lots of progress" and is "questionable" for the season-opener.

Advice: Kaminsky, who suffered a right foot strain in Friday’s exhibition game, was well enough Monday to be walking in sneakers, rather than the protective boot he wore over the weekend. "He said he felt a lot better," coach Steve Clifford said of Kaminsky. "He did a ton [of rehabilitation] Sunday and then he was back in here this morning. I guess you’d call him questionable [for the season-opener], but he’s making lots of progress." Yesterday, 3:23 pm
  • Thomas Robinson makes Lakers 15-man roster.
Thomas Robinson has made the Lakers opening night roster.

Advice: Robinson hasn't lived up to the hype he generated coming into the league as the No. 5 overall pick in the 2012 draft. However, he did show flashes of promise last season with the Nets. And he impressed his new coach Luke Walton in training camp and the preseason. Walton said he is "shocked" that Robinson hasn't been able to stick on a roster for an extended period of time Yesterday, 2:15 pm
  • Brandan Wright (ankle) won't play in opener.
Brandon Wright (ankle) will not play in the season opener against the Wolves on Wednesday.

Advice: Wright, who had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee last year, badly sprained his left ankle early in the preseason and is clearly still not yet 100 percent healed. With starting center Marc Gasol (foot, ankle) on a minutes restriction, there was an opportunity for Wright to see increased playing time, but Wright needs to first get himself healthy. Yesterday, 12:22 pm
  • Chandler Parsons (knee) won't play in opener.
Chandler Parsons (knee rehab) will not play in season opener.

Advice: Parsons is recovering from surgery to his right knee and had been making progress. There was some hope that he would be ready for the season's first game, but coach David Fizdale told reporters on Monday that Parsons would not be available. Afer signing Parsons to a max deal this summer, the Grizz are understandably taking a cautious approach with their $94.4 million investment. Yesterday, 12:15 pm
  • The Thunder have waived F Chris Wright
The Thunder have waived F Chris Wright.

Advice: It was a longshot for Wright to make the OKC roster this season. He will likely have to decide between playing the D-League or heading overseas. Yesterday, 12:01 pm

  • The Thunder have waived Mitch McGary
The Thunder have waived Mitch McGary.

Advice: McGary has battled off-the-court issues and was to be suspended the first 15 games of the season for twice violating the league's anti-drug program. He's also dealt with a number of significant injuries. McGary was projected as a promising lottery pick early in his collegiate career at Univeristy of Michigan, but has failed to live up to hype since entering the NBA. He may be forced to try to rehabilitate his career overseas. Yesterday, 11:56 am
  • Covington (ankle) confirms he'll play vs. OKC
Robert Covington (right ankle) confirmed on Monday that he'll be ready to play in the 76ers' season opener against the Thunder on Wednesday.

Advice: "I'm feeling pretty good [with the ankle]," said Covington. "I did a lot of stuff to stay on top of it, so I'll be ready for opening night." Covington's ankle injury was never believed to be serious, and Brett Brown also said he's expecting to have his starting small forward available when the regular-season tips. He'll be a nice source of triples and steals this season. Yesterday, 11:24 am
  • Montrezl Harrell (personal) doesn't practice
Montrezl Harrell (personal) was not present during Monday's practice.

Advice: It's unclear exactly what Harrell is dealing with, but he figures to split minutes with Nene as Clint Capela's backup this season, so there's no need to pay him any mind in standard leagues. Yesterday, 11:13 am
  • Lakers officially waive Yi Jianlian
The Lakers have officially waived Yi Jianlian.

Advice: "Yi was productive in practices and games with us, and was a consummate professional both on and off the court," said General Manager Mitch Kupchak. "However, he felt that the minutes and opportunities he'd be afforded here were not in line with his goals and ambitions, and that he'd be better off in a different situation." If Jianlian wants to play meaningful minutes, he probably needs to head back to the CBA. Yesterday, 11:05 am

  • Casey considering starting Patrick Patterson
Dwane Casey said that he currently views Patrick Patterson as the "leading candidate" to start sans Jared Sullinger (foot surgery).

Advice: While Casey tabbed Patterson as the leading candidate, he also acknowledged that he goes back and forth between starting Patterson or rookie Pascal Siakam based on the matchup, but either way Patterson figures to earn the bulk of the power forward minutes in Sullinger's absence. That being said, aside from hitting a few triples, Patterson rarely brings much else to the box score, so he's more of a 3-point specialist in deep leagues. Yesterday, 10:51 am
  • Saric gets hit in the face, leaves practice
Dario Saric was forced out of Monday's practice after getting hit the face with an elbow.

Advice: We should be getting some more info on this shortly, but early reports suggest that this isn't anything that will keep him out for Wednesday's regular-season opener against OKC. However, if this does turn into something that forces Saric to miss any time, Jerami Grant would see the biggest boost in value as he'd more than likely slide into the starting four-spot. Stay tuned. Yesterday, 10:44 am
  • Jared Sullinger looking at 2-3 month absence
Jared Sullinger is expected to miss roughly the next 2-3 months of action as he recovers from foot surgery, according to Raptors' GM Masai Ujiri.

Advice: While Ujiri acknowledged that there's a chance Sullinger can beat that timetable, that seems like a very unlikely scenario given how difficult the recovery process can be for big men coming back from foot surgery. This timetable would put Sullinger back on the court by December in a best-case scenario, but he'll more than likely be brought along very slowly once he is cleared for contact. Even in leagues with an IR-spot, it's tough to hang on to Sullinger as he was only a 10th round guy last year. Pascal Siakam will have the opportunity to start in Sullinger's absence, but Patrick Patterson and DeMarre Carroll will see the biggest boost in value. Yesterday, 10:16 am
  • Josh McRoberts (foot) cleared for contact
Josh McRoberts (left foot) has been cleared for contact, and hopes to make it back to the court "sooner rather than later."

Advice: Additionally, McRoberts said he's spent most his time at the five-spot during Heat practices, so it sounds like Erik Spoelstra envisions McBob operating as Hassan Whiteside's primary backup. It's unlikely that McRoberts will be able to see much more than 20 minutes a night in a reserve role, and he's still without an official timetable to return, so there's no reason to draft him anywhere. Yesterday, 10:11 am
  • POR picks up options on Vonleh and Napier
Portland has exercised their fourth-year team options on Noah Vonleh and Shabazz Napier.

Advice: Neither guy is expected to make an impact in standard fantasy leagues this season. Yesterday, 9:18 am
  • Pascal Siakam could start sans Sullinger?
Pascal Siakam will have the opportunity to start for the Raptors with Jared Sullinger (foot surgery) out indefinitely.

Advice: Patrick Patterson will more than likely be getting the bulk of the power forward minutes, but Dwane Casey prefers to bring him off the bench, so there's a chance the rookie’s development is accelerated with the loss of Sullinger. Siakam did start in Toronto's final four preseason games, and Casey recently praised the rookie for his activity on both ends of the floor. That being said, even as a starter it'll be tough for Siakam to get enough minutes to matter in standard leagues. DeMarre Carroll and Patterson remain the primary beneficiaries sans Sullinger. Yesterday, 8:18 am
  • Mitch McGary likely to be waived by OKC
Mitch McGary will likely be waived by the Thunder on Monday, according to Brett Dawson of The Oklahoman.

Advice: McGary will be suspended for the first 15 games of the season for twice violating the league's anti-drug program, and it seems like OKC is done with this investment. He sat out the first four preseason games due to a sore foot, but was also unable to get on the floor at all once deemed healthy. McGary is a complete non-factor in fantasy hoops. Yesterday, 7:03 am
  • Yi Jianlian asks for release, will be waived
Yi Jianlian has asked to be released by the Lakers and will be formally waived Monday.

Advice: He was a superstar in China and it was a fairly big surprise he came over to the NBA this year. Jianlian was not a lock for the rotation and had struggles on both ends this month. With Jianlian off the books, that should allow the Lakers to keep Thomas Robinson. Sunday, 11:04 pm

  • Jared Sullinger to undergo foot surgery Mon
Jared Sullinger will have a screw inserted into the fifth metatarsal of his left foot on Monday to alleviate symptomatic stress reactions, and he will be out indefinitely.

Advice: This is the same injury that limited Sullinger to just 58 games during the 2014-15 season, although that year he forewent surgery in order to let the injury heal naturally. A surgical procedure typically involves a longer timetable to return, so it's clear that Sullinger is going to miss significant time this year. This removes him from consideration as a late-round target in standard leagues, and it'll be Patrick Patterson and DeMarre Carroll picking up the slack in his absence. Dwane Casey prefers to bring Patterson off the bench, so perhaps Pascal Siakam will start sans Sullinger, although Patterson and Carroll would still earn the majority of the PF minutes. Carroll sees the biggest boost in value here. Sunday, 12:47 pm
  • Frank Kaminsky (foot) questionable for opener
Frank Kaminsky (right foot sprain) is questionable to play Charlotte's regular-season opener against Milwaukee.

Advice: Marvin Williams (finger) is going to play on opening night, so Kaminsky's status is more or less meaningless. If Kaminsky is out on Wednesday, it'll be Michael Kidd-Gilchrist earning some extended minutes at the four-spot, with Roy Hibbert and Spencer Hawes splitting the center minutes. Sunday, 11:40 am
  • Jared Sullinger (foot) still being evaluated
Raptors coach Dwane Casey said Jared Sullinger (foot) is still being evaluated.

Advice: Casey added that Sullinger's foot just isn't progressing and he's looking increasingly doubtful for the season opener. The Raptors could go with Paskal Siakam in the starting unit, but Patrick Patterson would get a bump in minutes as well. This sounds very concerning for Sullinger and he's not a must-own player while we wait for the official word. Sunday, 10:37 am
  • Robert Covington expected to play Wednesday
Robert Covington (ankle) is expected to play on Wednesday according to coach Brett Brown even though he sat out of Sunday's practice.

Advice: RoCo tweaked his right ankle during Friday's preseason game and didn't return, but the 76ers were just being cautious. He had a really rough preseason, but he's looking at heavy minutes on a banged up 76ers' roster. He will be a nice source of 3-pointers and steals and is worth targeting towards the end of the middle rounds. Sunday, 10:01 am
  • Jared Sullinger (foot) doubtful for opener
Jared Sullinger (left foot soreness) is doubtful to play in Toronto's season opener.

Advice: Sully went from questionable to doubtful quicker than Drake went from 0 to 100. With Sullinger more than likely out for the inaugural game of the season, Patrick Patterson should see more minutes. Saturday, 2:33 pm
  • Dario Saric scores 19 with seven boards
Dario Saric scored 19 points with seven rebounds, one assist, one steal, one block and one 3-pointer in 29 minutes on Friday.

Advice: Former GM Sam Hinkie must feel like a proud papa here with his stashed guy playing his best game. Saric was playing through an abdominal injury in this game, but coach Brett Brown really wanted to have his starting power forward get a feel for a full complement of minutes. The rookie will have some ups and downs, but his diversity on the stat sheet makes him a prime pick late in drafts. Friday, 9:00 pm
  • Robert Covington suffers ankle sprain
Robert Covington suffered a right ankle sprain and did not return on Friday.

Advice: He was originally getting re-taped to come back in the game, but the team wisely changed its mind. There's been no word on RoCo missing time going forward and we would consider him probable for the opener right now. With Ben Simmons (foot) out, expect Covington to be a stud for steals and treys. He's a solid pick in the late middle rounds. Friday, 8:56 pm
  • Frank Kaminsky suffers right foot sprain
Frank Kaminsky suffered a right foot sprain on Friday.

Advice: That's not good and it was more than just the originally reported soreness. Kaminsky will likely be getting further evaluation this weekend to determine his prognosis and treatment. For now, we will consider him between doubtful and questionable for the opener. If he and Marvin Williams (finger) can't go, the Hornets will have to play multiple players out of position. Friday, 6:29 pm
  • Parsons practicing, not cleared for games
Chandler Parsons (knee) has fully participated in the last two practices, but has yet to be cleared for game action.

Advice: "No problems at all with the knee," Parsons said to ESPN. There is still some hope Parsons can get out there for the opener, but the Grizzlies will take it easy on their max guy. He's going to slide in fantasy drafts big time, but he does have value after the middle rounds. Friday, 6:00 pm
  • Frank Kaminsky (right foot) to locker room
Frank Kaminsky has gone to the locker room to be evaluated for a sore right foot.

Advice: It didn't look bad and hopefully it's just soreness. Kaminsky was absolutely dominated by Karl-Anthony Towns and the Hornets have no incentive to put him back out there. With Marvin Williams (finger) questionable for the season opener, the Hornets may need Frank the Tank. Friday, 5:46 pm
  • Josh McRoberts out again on Friday
Josh McRoberts (foot) will not play on Friday.

Advice: The Heat are in no rush to bring him back. McRoberts has no timetable to return. Friday, 3:21 pm
  • Lowry, DeMar, DeMarre, Pascal & JV starting
Kyle Lowry, DeMar DeRozan, DeMarre Carroll, Pascal Siakam and Jonas Valanciunas will start on Friday against the Wizards.

Advice: The Raptors really like Patrick Patterson in the second unit, so Siakam starting again suggests he might be thrust into the first unit in the games Jared Sullinger (foot) misses. There should also be a good amount of Carroll at the four. Friday, 2:51 pm
  • Sullinger out Friday, questionable for opener
Jared Sullinger (foot) will not play on Friday vs. the Wizards and coach Dwane Casey said he could miss the season opener.

Advice: Not good. Sullinger is still experiencing pain in his foot, so the Raptors are going to take another "look" at it. It sounds like they might run some tests, so we could have another update soon. With Sullinger iffy for the start of the season, Pascal Siakam could be in the rotation and Patrick Patterson will see a bump in minutes. Friday, 8:23 am
  • Walker, Batum, MKG, Kaminsky, Hibbert start
Kemba Walker, Nicolas Batum, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Frank Kaminsky and Roy Hibbert will be in the starting lineup for Thursday's preseason matchup with the Heat.

Advice: Marvin Williams is dealing with a broken finger, and Cody Zeller (knee) still isn't 100 percent, so Kaminsky will have the opportunity to run with the starters tonight. Steve Clifford hasn't officially ruled Williams' out for opening night, but if he's not able to give it a go, it'll likely be Kaminsky opening the year as Charlotte's starting four-man. That being said, Kaminsky's value will tank once Williams' gets back on the court, so he's only worth a look as a late-round flier in deep leagues. Thursday, 3:32 pm
  • Josh McRoberts out Thursday vs Hornets
Josh McRoberts (left foot) will miss Thursday's game against the Hornets.

Advice: McRoberts has no set timetable for his return and has no fantasy value in standard fantasy leagues at the moment. Thursday, 7:42 am
  • Harrell scores seven in 21 minutes
Montrezl Harrell scored seven points with seven rebounds, one steal and one block in 21 minutes on Wednesday.

Advice: He was quickly gaining ground on Clint Capela, but he lost a bit during this game. Harrell is more of a power forward due to his shorter size at 6'8", but coach Mike D'Antoni is using him at the five. Just keep an eye on him. Wednesday, 8:23 pm
  • Pascal Siakam scores seven points as starter
Pascal Siakam was a fill-in starter vs. the Pistons on Wednesday and had seven points (3-of-5 FGs, 1-of-3 FTs), four boards, one steal, one block and four turnovers in 25 minutes.

Advice: The Raptors have high hopes for the rookie forward's development, but his near-term fantasy prospects aren't great. He's likely to spend much of his time with the Raptors' D-League affiliate. Wednesday, 7:09 pm
  • Patrick Patterson quiet in 20 mins off bench
Patrick Patterson was quiet in 20 bench minutes on Wednesday, chipping in three points on 1-of-5 shooting with two assists and one rebound.

Advice: Jared Sullinger (foot) wasn't active tonight, but it was Pascal Siakam who took his spot in the starting lineup. This was likely just an attempt to evaluate the rookie, while keeping Patterson in his usual reserve role, but it's another reminder that his outlook is bleak with Sullinger in Toronto. Wednesday, 7:08 pm
  • Lowry, DeMar, Carroll, Siakam & JV starting
The Raptors will start Kyle Lowry, DeMar DeRozan, DeMarre Carroll, Pascal Siakam and Jonas Valanciunas on Wednesday.

Advice: Minus Terrence Ross (knee) and Jared Sullinger (foot), the Raptors should have a fairly regular rotation tonight. We'll get to see how Siakam runs with the first unit as he tries to lock up a rotation spot. Wednesday, 3:22 pm
  • Sullinger (ankle), Ross (knee) out Wednesday
Jared Sullinger (ankle) and Terrence Ross (knee) have been ruled out for Wednesday's preseason game against the Pistons.

Advice: Dwane Casey said that he's hopeful that Sullinger will be able to get on the floor for Friday's preseason finale against the Wizards, but he won't push him if he's not ready. As for Ross, Casey doesn't expect him to be available for Toronto's two remaining preseason games. Pattrick Patterson, Pascal Siakam and Bruno Caboclo will continue to pick up some extended minutes with both Sullinger and Ross on the sidelines. Wednesday, 9:30 am
  • Brown unconcerned with Saric's shooting woes
Brett Brown was not at all concerned when discussing Dario Saric's recent shooting struggles.

Advice: "[It's no surprise] at all," Brown said of Saric's recent shooting struggles. "It's going to happen throughout the year. It's just a long year and it's a new year and it's an unfamiliar year with teammates and coaches and everything." Over the past three preseason games, Saric has shot just 5-of-22 from the field, but he believes once he stops rushing things his shot will come back to him. Like most rookies, turnovers and shooting percentages will likely be an issue for Saric, but he has the ability to bring a little bit of everything to the stat sheet making him an alluring late-round target. Wednesday, 6:57 am
  • Brandan Wright (ankle) out Wednesday
Brandan Wright (ankle) will not play on Wednesday vs. the Wolves.

Advice: The guy just can't stay healthy. Wright is expected to be in the rotation this season, but he should be considered questionable for opening night. Zach Randolph will get the backup center minutes if Wright can't go. Tuesday, 4:15 pm
  • Chandler Parsons (knee surgery) out Wednesday
Chandler Parsons (right knee surgery) will not play on Wednesday vs. the Wolves.

Advice: This was his final chance to play in the preseason, so this is disappointing. The Grizzlies won't provide a timetable, but Parsons has been spotted running and getting some shots up. For now, we'll consider him closer to doubtful for the season opener. Tuesday, 4:13 pm
  • Frank Kaminsky (foot) shoots 4-of-14 vs. CHI
Frank Kaminsky (foot) finished Monday's OT win vs. Chicago with 14 points on 4-of-14 shooting, three 3-pointers, three rebounds, two assists and one block in 32 minutes.

Advice: The foot injury came out of nowhere and the fact that he played big minutes in a meaningless preseason game is proof that he's fine. Kaminsky's fantasy outlook is bleak, though he's worth watching in deep leagues with Cody Zeller (knee) and Marvin Williams (finger) both ailing. Monday, 8:08 pm
  • Josh McRoberts (foot) out Tuesday
Josh McRoberts (stress reaction in left foot) will not play vs. the Magic on Tuesday.

Advice: The oft-injured forward has no set timetable for a return and has no fantasy value. Monday, 3:14 pm
  • Sullinger says his ankle issue isn't serious
Jared Sullinger isn't sure of his status for the Raptors' final two preseason games, but hinted that the injury isn't serious.

Advice: Sullinger said that his foot was stepped on during the game against the Warriors and added that he tried to play through it, but the soreness persisted. Since then, the Raptors have been cautious and want to make sure he's 100 percent for the opener. As the starting PF in Toronto, Sully has some late-round appeal in standard leagues. Monday, 10:15 am
  • Robert Covington (migraine) misses practice
Robert Covington missed practice on Monday due to a migraine.

Advice: The 76ers have one more preseason game on Friday vs. the Heat, so Covington should be considered questionable. Hollis Thompson missed practice with an illness, so Jerami Grant could be looking at a heavy workload Friday. Monday, 9:49 am
  • Frank Kaminsky (foot) probable for Monday
Frank Kaminsky (foot) is probable for Monday's game vs. the Bulls.

Advice: This is the first we are hearing of a foot injury, but it's a good sign that he was listed as probable. If he is ultimately held out on Monday, the team is just being cautious. Kaminsky had 17 points, four treys and two blocks in his last outing. Monday, 6:18 am
  • Montrezl Harrell drops a 20-10 vs. Memphis
Montrezl Harrell scored 20 points in 27 minutes against the Grizzlies on Saturday, adding 10 rebounds, one assist, one steal and three blocks.

Advice: Well, coach Mike D'Antoni might be at it again with a high-motor, undersized five. He's playing Harrell at center and is even doing it with all smalls around him, too. While Harrell didn't have a great rookie season or even a productive 2016 Summer League, he's in the mix to take minutes from Clint Capela. There isn't too much upside here, so savvy fantasy owners can just keep this info in their back pocket until something concrete comes of it. Oct 15, 9:07 pm
  • Dario Saric has another sub-par showing
Dario Saric scored eight points with five rebounds and one assist in 22 minutes against the Pistons on Saturday.

Advice: The 76ers as a whole had a rough time on offense tonight, making just 36.8 percent from the field. Saric has gone cold over his last three games at just 22.7 percent from the field in that span with no treys or defensive stats. The 76ers do seem committed to him and Ben Simmons (foot) could miss the entire season, so Saric makes sense in the later rounds to see what he can do in the starting lineup. Oct 15, 6:40 pm
  • Montrezl Harrell pushing for center minutes
Rockets coach Mike D'Antoni indicated that Montrezl Harrell has begun to push Clint Capela for minutes at center.

Advice: Capela has not shown much during the preseason, so it's not exactly a surprising development. The Rockets are paper-thin inside and it wouldn't be surprising to see Ryan Anderson wind up logging time as Houston's small-ball center routinely during the regular season. This position battle is shaping up to be a three-headed monster in the worst kind of way and we recommend avoiding it for fantasy purposes. Oct 15, 3:40 pm
  • Josh McRoberts (foot) remains out on Saturday
Josh McRoberts (stress reaction in left foot) remains sidelined for Saturday's preseason contest vs. the Timberwolves.

Advice: Remember when McBob was once seen as the crucial cog that would keep LeBron in Miami? Good times. Oct 15, 3:04 pm
  • Chandler Parsons (knee surgery) out Saturday
Chandler Parsons (right knee surgery) will not play on Saturday vs. the Rockets.

Advice: No revenge game for Parsons here. The new max contract man continues to rehab, but the concerning part of that is how the updates on his potential return have been few and far between. There may not be a bigger high-risk, high-reward target in fantasy basketball right now. At this juncture, we're considering Parsons very questionable for opening night. Oct 15, 12:33 pm
