  • Mark Jackson thinks Klay Thompson worth max
Former Warriors head coach Mark Jackson said that he thinks Klay Thompson is worth a max contract.

Advice: As the deadline to keep Thompson from becoming a restricted free agent after the 2014-15 season approaches, Jackson made his feelings clear about his former player. "He’s a guy that will make a boatload of money and in my opinion the best two-way shooting guard in the world, and it’s not even close," Jackson said. "He’s got to get [the max contract]." Thompson has had a strong preseason and is a safe early-round target for fantasy owners due to his three-point shooting prowess. Rotoworld.com

  • Chris Douglas-Roberts wearing smaller shorts
Chris Douglas-Roberts has decided to wear smaller shorts in an effort to help his defensive game this season.

Advice: Don't adjust your television screen if you think you've turned into an old game from the 1990's. It's just Chris Douglass-Roberts. "They can't get any shorter," Douglas-Roberts said of his shorts. "This is the shortest they make these days. They want me to check the best guy and you have to have stamina, you have to be able to move. I'm not saying you can't move with bigger shorts, but I feel more comfortable in these." While his shorts may or may not help his game, fantasy owners can feel free to pass on CDR as he won't see enough minutes to be relevant in standard leagues. Rotoworld.com

  • J.J. Redick scores 13 before being tossed
J.J. Redick hit 4-of-10 shots and a 3-pointer for 13 points, four rebounds and three assists before being ejected from Wednesday's preseason win over the Suns.

Advice: Redick argued a foul call late and got a little too demonstrative for the official's liking. He was hit with a couple quick techs and sent to the locker room. Redick was well under control and shouldn't face any harsh punishment, so look for him to be ready to roll for the regular season. Rotoworld.com

  • Gerald Green scores 23 off Suns bench
Gerald Green had 23 points, five rebounds, a steal and three 3-pointers in 28 minutes off the bench on Wednesday.

Advice: He scored 21 on Tuesday, but the odds are stacked against him for heavy minutes. Marcus Morris has played well at small forward, while P.J. Tucker could resume a starting role after he serves a suspension over the first three regular-season games. And any hopes of Green getting big minutes at shooting guard have been crushed by the return of Eric Bledsoe and the arrival of Isaiah Thomas. Green can play, and could still be a sneaky fantasy pick this season, but he's not worth investing in until the very late rounds of drafts, if at all. Rotoworld.com

  • Goran Dragic quiet while Bledsoe goes off
Goran Dragic was quiet on Wednesday, hitting just 2-of-8 shots for four points, two rebounds, four assists and two steals in 26 minutes.

Advice: He missed all three of his 3-point attempts and what's more disturbing about his line is that Isaiah Thomas played just 17 minutes off the bench. Eric Bledsoe got hot and scored 27 points, and these three guards are going to cause a lot of headaches for their owners, as they'll likely take turns getting hot on any given night. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 10:39 pm
  • Eric Bledsoe lights it up for 27 in loss
Eric Bledsoe hit 6-of-12 shots and three 3-pointers on his way to 27 points, one rebound, two assists and two steals on Wednesday.

Advice: He also hit 12-of-14 free throws, and looked fantastic tonight. However, Goran Dragic stunk, finishing with four points on 2-of-8 shooting, and Isaiah Thomas played just 17 minutes off the bench. This three-headed guard in Phoenix isn't going away any time soon, and while all three players are going to be worth owning, they're also going to cause a different hot hand from night-to-night. It was Bledsoe's turn in this one, while Thomas was hot coming in. Goran, you're up. Rotoworld.com

  • Wayne Ellington starts at SG for Lakers
With Kobe Bryant sitting out on Wednesday, Wayne Ellington started at SG and had 11 points, two rebounds, two assists, two steals and a 3-pointer.

Advice: If Kobe goes down at some point, Ellington may be worth keeping an eye on, but that's about it. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 9:44 pm
  • Jeremy Lin plays well...off bench again
Jeremy Lin came off the bench again on Wednesday and had 13 points, three rebounds, five assists and a block on 5-of-9 shooting in 25 minutes.

Advice: We still don't know if Lin or Ronnie Price will start on opening night, but we're still listing Lin at No. 1 on the depth chart. Even if he comes off the bench, he should get the majority of minutes and is still the guy you'll want to target on draft night. We're hoping he's coming off the bench as a precaution for his tender ankle, but it sounds like Byron Scott is considering using Lin with the reserves. Stay tuned. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 9:40 pm
  • Ronnie Price quiet in another start
Ronnie Price got another start on Wednesday, finishing with eight points, three assists, two steals and two 3-pointers on 3-of-7 shooting.

Advice: Jeremy Lin came off the bench again and a position battle appears to be underway. But once Lin is completely over his ankle injury and the regular season starts, we still expect Lin to get the majority of minutes at PG - assuming Steve Nash is in street clothes. Rotoworld.com

  • Kyle Korver scores 18 with six triples
Kyle Korver hit 6-of-11 shots (all 3-pointers) for 18 points, one rebound, two assists and a block in Wednesday's win.

Advice: If Korver can stay healthy, he could have a better season than he had last year. Threes are his middle name, but he also comes through with some decent boards and the occasional block. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 8:40 pm
  • Vince Carter struggles on Wednesday
Vince Carter hit just 1-of-6 shots for three points, two rebounds, three assists and two blocks on Wednesday.

Advice: He played 21 minutes, but didn't do much with them. We were bullish on him coming into camp, but he's struggled throughout most of it. He still has time to turn it around and be a valuable sixth man in Memphis, but for now, he probably belongs on the waiver wire when your draft ends. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 8:12 pm
  • Quincy Pondexter starts for MEM, scores 15
Quincy Pondexter started at small forward and played 30 minutes on Wednesday, hitting 3-of-7 shots and two 3-pointers for 15 points, five rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block.

Advice: He's battling with Tony Allen for the starting job and may have won it with this performance. Allen had five points and Vince Carter hit just 1-of-6 shots off the bench. If Pondexter is starting on opening night, he's going to be a popular deep-league pick up off the waiver wire. And if you're drafting this weekend, he is worth a look at the end of it. Rotoworld.com

  • O.J. Mayo starts hot, fizzles out
O.J. Mayo scored all 11 points in the first quarter against the Wolves on Wednesday to go with two rebounds, one assist and three 3-pointers in 21 minutes.

Advice: He's playing a lot better and looks like a new player. Mayo is coming off a two-game span with 21.5 points per game and it looks like he might be one year late to the party. Obviously, we're still going to see a lot more out of him, but fantasy owners should watch him closely. Plus, the Bucks need a shooting guard. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 8:06 pm
  • Brandon Knight misses all eight shots
Brandon Knight missed all eight shots from the field against the Wolves on Wednesday with one points, five rebounds, six assists and one block in 32 minutes.

Advice: He turned it over four times and was torched by Ricky Rubio. Knight returned from a groin injury and he should be considered as the favorite as the starter at point guard. He's more of a lower-upside player to grab around pick 100. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 8:01 pm
  • Kobe Bryant (rest) out for rest of preseason
Kobe Bryant (rest) will not play in the final two preseason games.

Advice: There is nothing wrong and he's just going to get some rest before the Lakers open their season against the Rockets on Tuesday. Bryant has been taking plenty of shots, but hasn't been nearly as efficient. He's still going to be a risky pick and is usually coming off the board in the third round. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 4:42 pm
  • Kawhi Leonard (eye) doing some workouts
Kawhi Leonard (eyes) has been working out away from the team and won't be at the AT&T Center on Wednesday.

Advice: He's questionable to start the year with an eye infection. Most eye infections last 3-5 days, so this is one of the stranger developments of the preseason. Still, Leonard should be bumped down draft boards after turning in top-10 value after the break last season. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 4:20 pm
  • Kevin Martin getting rest on Wednesday
Kevin Martin will not play on Wednesday.

Advice: He's just getting some rest and looks to be over his groin injury. It's probably just a matter of time before something else bothers Martin, so fantasy owners might want to look elsewhere in the later rounds. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 3:59 pm
  • Corey Brewer getting some rest on Wed.
Corey Brewer will not play on Wednesday.

Advice: He's likely just getting some rest. Brewer is not very effective in halfcourt sets, so it's hard to imagine him thriving with Kevin Love out of the picture. He's not worth drafting in most leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 3:57 pm
  • Courtney Lee (ankle) out on Wednesday night
Courtney Lee (ankle) will not play on Wednesday.

Advice: He suffered the injury on Monday and did not return. Lee is fully expected to start the season for the Grizzlies, but it probably won't be on the radar in fantasy leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 3:33 pm
  • Brandon Knight, Ersan Ilyasova available Wed.
Brandon Knight (groin) and Ersan Ilyasova (knee) are both available to play against the Wolves on Wednesday.

Advice: He missed over one week with his groin injury and it's unclear if he'll be limited tonight. Nobody stepped up while Knight was on the shelf, so he is expected to start at point guard. Fantasy owners can target him in the later rounds of drafts. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 3:22 pm
  • Mike Miller in shooting slump this preseason
Cavs coach David Blatt attributed Mike Miller's preseason shooting slump to the second-unit players he's shared the court with.

Advice: "We didn't have a lot of opportunities to put Mike on the floor with the kind of lineups that are good for him," said Blatt. "Mike obviously is best for him when he's on the floor with a lot of the creative players so he can spot-up and do what he does best." Given the Cavs' depth on the wings, Miller's fantasy value is strictly limited to a handful of 3-pointers. Rotoworld.com

  • Shumpert one of Phil Jackson's 'favorites'
Iman Shumpert is one of Phil Jackson's "favorites" on the Knicks' roster, and Jackson called him "simply our best on-ball defender" against SGs and bigger PGs.

Advice: Jackson criticized Shumpert's "very inconsistent" shooting mechanics, but he's confident that Shump will bounce back offensively after averaging just 6.7 points on 37.8 percent shooting last season. The starting SG job is Shumpert's to lose and his ability to chip in consistent 3-pointers and steals makes him a late-round option in deeper leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 9:48 am
  • Wolves may take fewer 3-pointers this season
Wolves coach Flip Saunders said that Minnesota took "way too many" 3-pointers last season, even though they ranked 16th in attempts per game.

Advice: The Wolves finished 26th in 3-point percentage last year, and with Kevin Love gone Saunders is just acknowledging that he doesn't have the personnel to rely on 3-pointers. Kevin Martin should have a green light from beyond the arc, as will Robbie Hummel and Chase Budinger, and fantasy owners can hope for a slight uptick from Ricky Rubio after he averaged only 0.5 per game last year. • Alonzo Gee makes Nuggets' reg. season roster
Alonzo Gee has made the Nuggets' regular season roster after 3.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.2 steals in 16 minutes per game during the preseason.

Advice: Gee is third on the depth chart at SF, behind Danilo Gallinari and Wilson Chandler, and he may not even crack the rotation during the regular season. Rotoworld.com

    Player Note

  • George Hill (knee) iffy for Thursday
George Hill is listed as questionable for Thursday's game after suffering a left knee contusion on Tuesday night.

Advice: "It swelled up pretty good so we’ll see how he is tomorrow and take it day to day," coach Frank Vogel said after Tuesday's game. Hill should be ready to go for the start of the regular season, and we're expecting him to be considerably better this season than last. Donald Sloan is pushing C.J. Watson for back up duties, but Hill is the guy you want to own. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 11:41 pm
  • J.J. Redick scores 21 points in losing effort
The Clippers fell to the Warriors on Tuesday despite J.J. Redick's preseason-high 21 points, three 3-pointers, three assists, two steals and one block.

Advice: Chris Paul and Blake Griffin were both resting so Redick took on a heavier offensive load, sinking 6-of-15 FGs and 6-of-7 FTs, though he failed to grab any rebounds in 33 minutes. When healthy he's a decent late-round option in 8-cat and 9-cat leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 10:26 pm
  • Gerald Green drops 21 points in 20 minutes
Gerald Green poured in 21 points in just 20 minutes vs. the Lakers on Tuesday, making 5-of-15 FGs and 7-of-8 FTs with four 3-pointers, one rebound, two assists and one steal.

Advice: Green said recently that he anticipates less playing time this year, and that his scoring will fluctuate from night to night depending upon matchups. He's not worth owning unless you're in need of a points-and-3s specialist. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 10:03 pm
  • Ronnie Price hands out 10 assists as starter
Ronnie Price had seven points, one 3-pointer, four rebounds, 10 assists and one steal in another start at PG on Tuesday, earning praise from coach Byron Scott before the game.

Advice: There's actually a chance that Price could start ahead of Jeremy Lin on opening night, but we'll believe it when we see it. With Steve Nash is already suffering a recurrence of nerve-related pain, however, Price is creeping onto the fantasy radar as the Lakers' presumptive backup PG. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 10:02 pm
  • Wes Johnson stuffs stat sheet in Lakers' loss
Wes Johnson finished Tuesday's loss with 15 points, three 3-pointers, eight rebounds, two assists, two steals and three blocks, but he also committed eight turnovers and missed a critical pair of free throws.

Advice: Xavier Henry (knee) and Nick Young (thumb) are both out of commission, which helps Johnson's cause, but he may hold onto a starting job even when L.A. is at full strength. This was his first double-digit scoring game of the preseason but has unique fantasy appeal after averaging 1.3 triples, 1.1 steals and 1.0 blocks for the depleted Lakers last season. Give him a look if you need a swingman in the final round. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 10:01 pm
  • Jeremy Lin has 15 pts w/ five dimes off bench
Jeremy Lin returned from two sprained ankles on Tuesday, notching 15 points (including 8-of-10 FTs), four rebounds, five dimes and two steals off the Lakers' bench.

Advice: Ronnie Price started at PG and coach Byron Scott said he likes how Lin has played with the second unit. Lin was returning from injury and we still expect him to get the nod on opening night. He'll hold solid value even if he does begin the season the focal point of the second unit's offense, and the return of Nick Young could also bump him back into the starting five. If you drafted Lin, or plan to, there's no need to panic. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 9:57 pm
  • Nate Robinson (ACL) still on 15-minute limit
Nate Robinson started at PG in place of Ty Lawson (hamstring) on Tuesday, but he finished with just four points and two assists in nine minutes.

Advice: Denver's medical staff had Nate on a 15-minute limit, which should slowly increase during the first few weeks of the regular season. The 30-year-old is coming back from ACL surgery, and his backup role all but guarantees he won't help fantasy owners. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 9:28 pm
  • George Hill leaves with knee contusion
George Hill suffered a knee contusion on Tuesday and will not return to the game.

Advice: If you're going to have a knee injury, a contusion is the way to go. He's day-to-day and finishes with 14 points, five rebounds, three assists and a 3-pointer. He's looking for a bounce-back season as the Pacers' starting point guard, and he's looked good in the preseason. Consider him day-to-day. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 6:49 pm
  • Report: Ronnie Price to start at PG Tuesday
Despite an earlier report that Jeremy Lin would start at point guard for the Lakers on Tuesday, Mark Medina is reporting that Ronnie Price will get the call.

Advice: Lin is still expected to play and will come off the bench after missing three straight game with a sprained ankle. Either way, Lin should be a nice, cheap source of dimes and point guard minutes this season. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 5:25 pm
  • Jeremy Lin not starting on Tuesday
Jeremy Lin, who has missed three straight games with a sprained ankle, said he will start on Tuesday, but it's not going to happen.

Advice: Ronnie Price will start in his place, but Lin is expected to return from a three-game absence with a sprained ankle off the bench. The Lakers are running very thin at point guard and if Lin can stay healthy this season, he's going to get a ton of minutes and production. He looks like an enticing sleeper pick once the big names are gone. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 5:01 pm
  • Nate Robinson starts again for Ty Lawson
Nate Robinson will start at PG for the Nuggets on Tuesday, in place of injured Ty Lawson (hamstring).

Advice: Robinson appears to be fully recovered from his knee surgery, while JaVale McGee is a game-time decision as he makes his way back from a leg injury. Along with Robinson, Arron Afflalo, Danilo Gallinari, Kenneth Faried and Timofey Mozgov. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 4:42 pm
  • Jeremy Lin (ankles) ready to go vs. Phoenix
Jeremy Lin (sprained ankles) will return to action during Tuesday's exhibition vs. the visiting Suns.

Advice: "Ankles are finally feeling better," Lin wrote. "Excited to get back on the court tonight!" Steve Nash's ongoing sciatica pain has him questionable for the start of the regular season, and the starting PG job should belong to Lin all season regardless of Nash's health. He has enough statistical versatility to return mid-round value, and his late-round ADP makes him a solid value in most fantasy drafts. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 2:54 pm
  • Courtney Lee to open season as Grizz starter
Courtney Lee will open the season in the Grizzlies' starting lineup, according to head coach Dave Joerger.

Advice: With Nick Calathes out for the first 20 games of the season due to a suspension, Lee and Tony Allen will serve as the starting SG and SF for the Grizzlies. Lee averaged 11.0 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.9 steals, and 1.0 three-pointers with the Grizzlies last season and is now a solid late-round flier in deeper fantasy leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 9:01 am
  • Vince Carter's minutes staying low
Vince Carter played eight minutes during Monday's 108-103 loss to Dallas, scoring four points with two rebounds, one block and one 3-pointer.

Advice: He only played six minutes on Friday and hasn't been over 13 in any of his four games. Carter played 24.4 minutes per game in his 81 outings last year, so he'll likely be closer to 20. He's not quite worthy of drafting in standard leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 8:42 pm
  • Quincy Pondexter puts up a scoring gem
Quincy Pondexter had his third positive showing in a row on Monday with 18 points, four rebounds, two assists, two steals and three 3-pointers in 27 minutes.

Advice: In his last three, he's averaged 15.7 points, 2.3 boards, 1.0 assists, 0.7 steals and 2.3 triples. Pondexter looks to be very healthy and the Grizzlies might be inclined to start him considering how horrible Tayshaun Prince was last year. Vince Carter is still going to get his chances, so Q-Pon is only a deep-league target. It's worth mentioning he's shot just 42.7 percent from the field in his career. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 8:40 pm
  • New look O.J. Mayo scores 24 points
A slimmed down O.J. Mayo scored 24 points off the bench on Monday, hitting 7-of-13 shots (including six threes) with zero rebounds, three assists and one steal in 31 minutes.

Advice: Milwaukee news can be hard to come by and even the local writers tweeting the game were surprised about how he looked. On that front, he looks like a totally different person and owners would be wise to not summarily dismiss him as a fantasy asset this year. He has had some good games mixed in with bad ones and the Milwaukee rotation is a crowded mess, but if Mayo can return to past form he should theoretically move toward starter's minutes. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 8:18 pm
  • Courtney Lee leaves game with injured ankle
Courtney Lee turned his left ankle in Monday's exhibition and did not return.

Advice: Lee has had sporadic issues with this ankle for many years now but this is being called a "mild ankle sprain." Chances are he won't miss any time, but if he were to miss time then Beno Udrih and Tony Allen would work to fill in the gaps while Nick Calathes finishes out his suspension. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 7:16 pm
  • Kawhi Leonard out w/ 'strong strain' of virus
Kawhi Leonard (eye) is out for Monday's game and is dealing with a "strong strain" of the virus in his eye, according to coach Gregg Popovich.

Advice: "He had a really strong strain of whatever virus it is," Popovich said. "He's still out and they're going to re-evaluate [Tuesday]." Leonard is expected to miss much of the preseason and he is questionable to start the season. There has been no indication that he has anything seriously wrong with his eye, so he shouldn't be knocked down your draft board because of his illness. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 4:17 pm
  • Kobe says LAL will play smashmouth basketball
Kobe Bryant said that the Lakers will play "smashmouth basketball" this season.

Advice: "We’re going to be smashmouth basketball," said Bryant. "That’s how we’re going to play. We’re going to be nasty. We’re going to be physical... We’re a grind it out team." With minimal improvements to the Lakers' roster this offseason, the Lakers could be in for another turbulent season. Kobe will have to score a lot of points for them to be relevant, but he has looked great so far over preseason. He's a true risk/reward pick in the early rounds of standard leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 2:27 pm
  • Chris Douglas-Roberts (ankle) will play Tues.
Chris Douglas-Roberts (ankle) will practice on Monday, and play in Tuesday's preseason game vs. the Warriors.

Advice: CDR will provide emergency depth for the Clippers this season, and it'll take a few injuries for him to gain any sort of fantasy relevance. He is not someone that should be targeted in standard leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 2:15 pm
  • Brandon Knight and Zaza Pachulia out on Monday
Brandon Knight (groin) and Zaza Pachulia (hamstring) will not play against the Knicks on Monday.

Advice: Knight has been out for over a week now with his strained right groin, but there's still hope for him to play in the season opener. Kendall Marshall hasn't played well sans Knight and is shooting just 4-of-15 in his last three games, so Knight still looks like the favorite to start at point guard. Knight is only a late-round target due to a lower upside. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 8:59 am
  • Ronnie Price a lock to make the team
Ronnie Price is a lock to make the Lakers, according to Eric Pincus of the L.A. Times

Advice: He's playing on a non-guaranteed deal, but has been terrific in camp with Steve Nash (back) and Jeremy Lin (ankle) out. This is bad news for rookie Jordan Clarkson's fantasy value in extremely deep leagues and Price has very little value, as well. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 6:14 am
  • Lakers win behind Kobe's team-high 26 points
Kobe Bryant scored a team-high 26 points on Sunday, making 7-of-22 FGs and 9-of-11 FTs with three 3-pointers, four rebounds, five assists and one steal in 31 minutes.

Advice: He was serenaded with 'M-V-P' chants during the final minute of L.A.'s meaningless victory -- wins will be few and far between for the Lakers this year, so it's hard to begrudge their fans some preseason fun. Kobe is expected to play in L.A.'s final three exhibitions with his minutes slowly ramping up to test his regular-season conditioning. Rotoworld.com
    Sunday, 9:20 pm
  • Ronnie Price gets 10 assists in 38 minutes
With Steve Nash (nerve damage) and Jeremy Lin (ankle) unavailable for Sunday's exhibition, Lakers' PG Ronnie Price delivered 10 assists in 38 minutes.

Advice: Price finished with six points, two rebounds, 10 dimes, four steals, one block and three turnovers against an inexperienced Jazz backcourt. The absence of rookie G Jordan Clarkson (calf) is yet another reason for Price's increased activity, and despite tonight's solid line he's not an option in average fantasy leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Sunday, 9:19 pm
  • Kevin Martin (groin) back in action w/ 13 pts
Kevin Martin (groin) returned to action with 13 points, one 3-pointer, three rebounds, two assists and two steals in just 21 minutes during Sunday's road win vs. the Thunder.

Advice: He missed the Wolves' previous three exhibitions, but his return for a meaningless game indicates that he's fully recovered. Martin is locked into the starting SG job for opening night and could be a solid top-80 fantasy value, but as usual the biggest question is whether he'll stay healthy during an 82-game season. Rotoworld.com
    Sunday, 7:34 pm
  • Corey Brewer quiet in start at SF vs. Thunder
Corey Brewer had five points, one 3-pointer, three rebounds, three assists and two steals as the Wolves' starting SF on Sunday.

Advice: The starting wing positions belong to Kevin Martin and Andrew Wiggins, leaving Brewer to mop up minutes with the second unit. He'll be vying with guys like Mo Williams, Zach LaVine and Chase Budinger, so you'll have to crouch to see Brewer's fantasy ceiling this season. Rotoworld.com
    Sunday, 6:53 pm
  • Jeremy Lin sits out again w/ sprained ankle
Jeremy Lin (ankle) will sit out Sunday's exhibition, as expected, allowing A.J. Price to start at PG.

Advice: Lin is likely to start at PG even if Steve Nash's nerve damage subsides prior to opening night, which seems very doubtful. He averaged 15.6 points, 1.4 threes, 3.3 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.2 steals on a 36-minute-per-game basis with Houston last year, which should set fantasy owners' expectations for 2014-15. Rotoworld.com
    Sunday, 4:59 pm
  • Kevin Martin (groin) back in action Sunday
Kevin Martin will return from his groin injury as a starter vs. the Thunder on Sunday.

Advice: Minnesota has been very cautious with their veteran SG this preseason, which has opened up more minutes for guys like Zach LaVine, Corey Brewer, J.J. Barea and Glenn Robinson III. Rotoworld.com
    Sunday, 3:18 pm
  • Klay Thompson (rest) out Sunday vs. Houston
Klay Thompson (rest) will not play in Sunday's exhibition game vs. Houston.

Advice: Klay has been lights out this preseason, shooting 53.6 percent from the field, and a ridiculous 58.6 percent from 3-point range through five preseason games. He's a primary piece of Golden State's offense, and they weren't willing to include him in any deal, even if it would have netted them Kevin Love. Thompson is set to have another great year, and could see his assist total rise a bit in the Warriors new ball-movement oriented offense. Target him in the early rounds and don't look back. Rotoworld.com
    Sunday, 10:46 am
  • Kawhi Leonard (eye) to miss rest of preseason
Kawhi Leonard (eye) will miss the remainder of the preseason, and is questionable for the regular season opener on October 28.

Advice: "Kawhi Leonard is still out, for 10 more days," Gregg Popovich said before tipoff of Saturday’s game. "[The infection] is going back and forth between the two [eyes]. It’s crazy." This infection is not considered serious, and we'd bet that Kawhi is on the probable side of questionable for the regular season opener vs. Dallas. Leonard was magnificent during the Spurs title-run last season, and he figures to be a late-first, early-second round selection in standard leagues. Rotoworld.com

  • Jeremy Lin's end in HOU not how he envisioned
Jeremy Lin's exit from Houston was not how he envisioned it, but he's not bitter towards the franchise that traded him for close to nothing.

Advice: "When I first got [to Houston], I was supposed to be the guy and they were supposed to kind of hand the torch to me," said Lin. "And I ended up getting traded away basically for nothing. Actually, they had to give up a draft pick to convince someone else to take me. Pretty much given away for nothing. Definitely not how I envisioned it." Jeremy Lin is now in a much better situation in LA, and with Steve Nash unable to stay healthy, Lin will see heavy minutes in the Lakers' rotation. He makes for an excellent late-round selection with plenty of upside. Rotoworld.com

  • George Hill flirts with a triple-double Sat.
George Hill filled up the stat sheet against the Mavs on Saturday with 10 points, nine rebounds, six assists, one steal, one block and three 3-pointers on 3-of-11 from the field.

Advice: If David West (ankle) misses time, Hill is going to be a huge part of the offense. He was more of an off-the-ball guy last season, but that'll change. The former Spur will always be known for being dealt for Kawhi Leonard, but he'll have his best chance to produce this year. He's a high-upside target in the late-middle rounds. Rotoworld.com
    Saturday, 6:41 pm
  • Chris Douglas-Roberts (ankle) out Saturday
Chris Douglas-Roberts (ankle) is out for Saturday's exhibition game, with Joe Ingles starting in his place.

Advice: Doc Rivers said that Douglas-Roberts sprained his ankle on Friday and that he will get a night off. The injury is not serious and the Clippers will have a chance to evaluate Joe Ingles, who was brought on this summer after an excellent FIBA showing for the Aussies. To summarize, this is the 5th different player to start at SF for the Clips and neither of these players are on the radar in standard leagues. Rotoworld.com

  • Kawhi Leonard has infection in both eyes now
Kawhi Leonard's right eye infection has spread to his left eye and he will miss Saturday's game against the Heat.

Advice: He could miss the rest of the preseason and this doesn't sound good. To be clear, it doesn't sound serious and we would still expect him to be in the lineup on opening night. If anything, maybe this will cause his draft value to slide into the mid-second round. Rotoworld.com
    Saturday, 3:49 pm
  • Jeremy Lin (ankle) unlikely for Sunday's game
Jeremy Lin (ankle) is unlikely to suit up for Sunday's exhibition against the Jazz.

Advice: He was spotted getting up some jumpers at Saturday's practice which is a good indication that he is making progress from his recently sprained ankle. We expect him to be ready for the season opener and the Lakers are just being cautious at the moment. Lin projects as a solid late-round selection as he should see plenty of minutes in LA's backcourt this season. Rotoworld.com

  • Thompson scores 29 points in loss to Heat
Klay Thompson scored 29 points on 10-of-21 shooting (including four threes) with two rebounds, five assists, one steal and one block in Friday's preseason loss to the Heat.

Advice: Thompson is going to hang a bunch of these on the opposition this year. David Lee added 24 points with six rebounds and Stephen Curry had a slow night with seven points on 2-of-10 shooting and an otherwise full stat line. Rotoworld.com
    Friday, 11:02 pm
  • Mayo pumps in 19 points off the bench
O.J. Mayo scored 19 points off the bench on Friday, hitting 5-of-10 shots (2-of-3 3PTs, 7-of-9 FTs) with three assists and a block in 28 minutes.

Advice: Mayo committed five fouls and did not grab a single rebound, but the fact that he's pushing numbers across the board is a win these days. The Bucks rotation is all over the place right now and until it's settled owners should look at less risky options in Milwaukee. Rotoworld.com
    Friday, 9:10 pm
  • Carter (ankle) gets back on the floor
Vince Carter (ankle) got back on the floor on Friday night, but logged just six minutes against Flamengo.

Advice: We'll let you know if we hear anything for owners to be concerned about, but there's no reason for Carter to push himself at this time of year. The Grizzlies predictably rolled tonight, with a bountiful box score that owners should disregard for projection purposes. Rotoworld.com
    Friday, 8:57 pm
  • Jeremy Lin (ankle) hopeful to play Sunday
Jeremy Lin (ankle) is hopeful that he'll be able to suit up for Sunday's preseason game vs. the Jazz.

Advice: The Lakers could certainly use him back, as they've been running with Ronnie Price as their starting point guard with both Lin and Steve Nash (back) on the sidelines. While Lin may not enter the season as the team's starting point guard, he still makes for an intriguing late-round selection with some upside, as there's basically no way Nash makes it through a full season. Lin should be able to offer some assists, steals, and 3-pointers to a fantasy squad, while hitting free throws at an efficient rate. Rotoworld.com
    Friday, 12:54 pm
  • Kobe Bryant scores 27 points on 23 FGAs
Kobe Bryant looked like his old self against the Jazz during a 119-86 loss on Thursday, making 10-of-23 from the field and 7-of-13 from the line for 27 points with five rebounds, four assists and one steal in 28 minutes.

Advice: The Lakers missed all five shots from beyond the arc tonight and also missed all three on Sunday. Bryant took exception to ESPN ranking him as the 40th best player in the league and said he's "known for a long time that they're a bunch of idiots." We have Kobe inside the top 40 for our rankings in standard leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 10:16 pm
  • Goran Dragic scores 20 in 24 minutes
Goran Dragic made 9-of-14 from the field for 20 points against the Spurs on Thursday, adding one rebound, six assists, three steals, no turnovers and one 3-pointer.

Advice: The Suns could look to go with a three-guard lineup, but it wouldn't really affect Dragic anyway outside of maybe a faster pace. He's safe to draft in the third round and was still a top-40 player last year even while Eric Bledsoe was in the lineup. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 10:01 pm
  • Eric Bledsoe looks great vs. Spurs
Eric Bledsoe made 7-of-10 from the field for 16 points with six assists, two steals, two blocks and two 3-pointers in 26 minutes against the Spurs on Thursday.

Advice: He had five shots from at least 19 feet and he made three of them, so that counts for something. Bledsoe is working on his mid-range game it's been positive so far, but he's going to be awesome on offense no matter what he decides to do. He'll put up top-40 value as long as he's healthy. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 9:58 pm
  • Klay Thompson scores 18 points in 17 minutes
Klay Thompson continued his magnificent preseason on Thursday with 18 points, four rebounds, five assists, one steal, two blocks and three 3-pointers.

Advice: He's ridiculous right now. Thompson is 13-of-20 from beyond the arc and has an unbelievably efficient 69.8 effective field goal percentage on the preseason. He's looking to cash in during his contract season and will have no problem putting up top-50 value this season. It's just a bonus that he hasn't missed a game due to injury in his career. Thursday, 9:27 pm
  • Jeremy Lin (ankle) out Thursday vs Jazz
Jeremy Lin (ankle) will sit out the Lakers' preseason game against the Jazz on Thursday.

Advice: Lin started some light running, and is targeting Sunday for a return to action on the court. Resting his ankle may become an even bigger priority for the Lakers now that Steve Nash's health is already a major concern. His fantasy value jumps dramatically if he indeed takes over starting duties. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 1:14 pm
  • Kevin Martin (groin) most likely out on Fri
Kevin Martin (groin) will most likely sit out the Timberwolves' preseason game on Friday.

Advice: Martin has been making progress as of late, but the Timberwolves will continue to exercise caution and most likely hold him out of Friday's preseason action. Martin's ability to score and hit three-pointers are the crux of his fantasy value, but it remains to be seen what kind of role he will have in Minnesota given the influx of youth within the franchise. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 12:07 pm
  • Brandon Knight (groin) unsure if he'll play
Brandon Knight (groin) unsure if he'll play Friday.

Advice: He will make the trip with the team to Cedar Rapids and New York, so the possibility remains that he will suit up for the Bucks' upcoming preseason games. Knight did say that his groin is feeling better and there doesn't seem to be a concern over him missing any regular season action. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 11:34 am
  • Nate Robinson will get some rest
Nate Robinson will not play on Thursday.

Advice: It's just some rest after his debut to the lineup last week. Robinson will only be a backup and is not worth drafting in most leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 10:45 am
  • Kevin Martin (groin) could play Sunday
Kevin Martin (groin) could play on Sunday.

Advice: There was a chance he could play on Friday, but it doesn't sound like it. Martin has been battling his groin strain since Oct. 4, but he should be ready for the the season opener. Andrew Wiggins will likely be higher on the totem pole for offense, so Martin is a little more trouble than he's worth. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 10:41 am
  • George Hill posts nice line in loss
George Hill hit 5-of-9 shots for 11 points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals in Wednesday's loss to Cleveland.

Advice: In his three preseason game Hill is averaging 13 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.3 3-pointers per game. After another disappointing season last year, Hill looks like a very promising point guard prospect this season, and can be had in the later rounds of most drafts. The depleted Pacers will need everything he can give. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 8:28 pm
  • Jeremy Lin does some light running
Jeremy Lin (ankle) did some light running at practice on Wednesday and hopes to return to game action on Sunday.

Advice: He's getting closer to a return and he should have plenty of minutes on his plate. Lin will be asked to drive a lot and it should help him facilitate the offense. Fantasy owners will probably have to reach a round or two in order to pick him up, but it looks like it could be worth it. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 1:50 pm
  • Brandon Knight still out with a groin issue
Brandon Knight (groin) did not practice on Wednesday.

Advice: He's been out since Monday with his groin strain and downplayed the injury on Wednesday. Knight doesn't have a history of groin issues, but his injuries tend to linger more than most players. He's a possible late-round target in standard leagues and should be ready to go for the regular season. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 11:37 am
  • Kevin Martin (groin) practices on Wednesday
Kevin Martin (groin) practiced on Wednesday and has a chance to play on Friday.

Advice: His adductor injury has kept him on the sidelines since Oct. 4 and coach Flip Saunders said Martin's status on Thursday will be a factor for playing him on Friday. Martin has a laundry list of injuries and he'll probably have something else pop up on him later in the season. There are probably better players to grab in the early-late rounds. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 11:25 am
  • Quincy Pondexter scores 13 for Grizzlies
Quincy Pondexter started for the Grizzlies on Tuesday and had 16 points, two rebounds and three 3-pointers on 4-of-9 shooting.

Advice: The Grizzlies rolled out their D-League and bench team tonight, so don't get too excited about QP's line. But if a wing or power forward suffers an injury in Memphis this season, QP could be a guy to target off the waiver wire. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 9:52 pm
  • Kyle Korver does Korver things in win
Kyle Korver hit 6-of-11 shots and five 3-pointers for 17 points, three rebounds and three assists on Tuesday.

Advice: The Heat broke out to a 14-0 run, but saw the Hawks win the third quarter by a score of 43-18, which led them to the win over the Heat. Korver is going to be an excellent source of 3-pointers and is also a decent rebounder. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 9:13 pm
  • O.J. Mayo scores 13 points in loss to Cavs
O.J. Mayo hit 5-of-8 shots and a 3-pointer for 13 points, three rebounds, five assists on 5-of-8 shooting in 20 minutes on Tuesday.

Advice: This was quite better than his 0-for-1 shooting and two points on Saturday, but he still has a long way to go before he's back in our good graces. And the same can probably be said for Bucks' coach Jason Kidd, who has shown little interest in giving Mayo a big role in his offense. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 8:13 pm
  • Iman Shumpert starts at SG for Knicks
Iman Shumpert started at SG for the Knicks on Tuesday and had 12 points, four rebounds, four assists and a 3-pointer on 5-of-10 shooting in 21 minutes.

Advice: It looks like J.R. Smith and Tim Hardaway might come off the bench, and if it happens, Shumpert could be your opening-night starter. But really, Hardaway has been playing the best of this group thus far. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 6:56 pm
  • Kevin Martin (groin) expected back by Sunday
Kevin Martin (groin) went through portions of Tuesday's practice and he's expected to be back in action for Sunday's exhibition.

Advice: K-Mart may sit out Friday's game as a precaution but he's on pace to be fully recovered for Minnesota's season opener. The SG job belongs to Martin, and if he stays healthy he should return late-middle round value on the strength of his scoring, 3-pointers and typically great FT shooting. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 11:50 am
  • Redick scores 17 points in preseason loss
J.J. Redick scored 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting (including a three) with two rebounds and three assists in Monday's preseason loss.

Advice: Redick has a solid role locked down and when he stays healthy he's usually good for only a handful of absences per year. Last year he battled "noodle leg," or a back/hip injury that shelved him until the end of the year, but he looks great so far this season. He's a safe late-round pick in standard formats despite last year's games missed. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 10:26 pm
  • Douglas-Roberts starts on Monday night
Chris Douglas-Roberts drew a start at small forward on Monday against the Jazz, scoring just four points on 1-of-5 shooting with four rebounds and one steal in 31 minutes.

Advice: The Clippers are still working out the kinks and are winless in the preseason, so it's hard to pin this bad stat line entirely on CDR, but regardless we're not expecting much from him this season. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 10:22 pm
  • Shumpert (hamstring) looks fine in ugly loss
Iman Shumpert (hamstring) looked fine in Monday's preseason loss to the Raptors, logging 19 minutes with six points, three rebounds, six assists and one steal in 19 minutes.

Advice: Shumpert had a nice dunk and the assists were a nice touch, but this was a garbage game and not too much should be gleaned from it. The Knicks are struggling to grasp the new Triangle Offense, and they'll get better as the year goes on, with Shumpert profiling as an interesting piece for his ability to cut without the ball. He needs to make a major move to secure playing time before standard league owners should consider him on draft day. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 8:44 pm
  • Brandon Knight (groin) will not play Tuesday
Brandon Knight (strained right groin) did not practice Monday, and will not play in Tuesday's preseason game vs. Cleveland.

Advice: This is the first time we're hearing about a groin injury, so hopefully this is more of a precautionary move than anything else. Knight can be a cheap source of some 3s, steals, assists, and points, and he makes for a decent value pick in the later rounds of drafts in standard leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 11:47 am
  • Kawhi Leonard (eye infection) misses practice
Kawhi Leonard (eye infection) missed practice on Monday and will not travel for Thursday's game in Phoenix.

Advice: He missed Saturday's game with the same illness and it's not considered serious. Leonard was used in several different offensive situations in his one preseason game, so we're eager to see if coach Gregg Popovich will continue to allow Kawhi to blossom. He's worth a look at the turn of the first and second rounds of standard drafts. Rotoworld.com

  • Lakers destroyed 75-116 by Golden State
Kobe Bryant made 3-of-13 field goals and finished an embarrassing 75-116 loss on Sunday with six points, one rebound and five assists.

Advice: He did have four steals and one block, and he was very active in 24 minutes of action, but the short-handed Lakers were brutally outmatched by the Warriors. Kobe is as healthy as he's been in years and he'll need a Herculean season to keep the Lakers out of the Western Conference's cellar, and his ADP has crept north of 30 thanks to his impressive preseason. Rotoworld.com
    Oct 12, 9:10 pm
  • Ronnie Price logs team-high 33 minutes for LA
Ronnie Price played a team-high 33 minutes off the Lakers' bench during Sunday's game, finishing with nine points, two boards, three assists and one steal.

Advice: In a bizarre preseason twist, Price's shoe fell off during the game and he threw it at Andre Iguodala to disrupt his dribble. The move earned him a technical foul but shouldn't incur further punishment. If Steve Nash's health fails him, as it very well might, Price could find himself as L.A.'s default backup PG.
