Can You Dig It (ID# 65619)
  • Jusuf Nurkic looks good again
Jusuf Nurkic had another good game on Friday with 16 points, eight rebounds and one block in 15 minutes.

Advice: His rebounding rate is off the charts and he kept his fouls down tonight. Nurkic probably won't be in the rotation to start the year, but the upside is there. Keep an eye on him in keeper leagues. Rotoworld.com
    26 minutes ago
  • Chris Kaman gets the start next to Ro-Lo
Chris Kaman pushed missed a double-double in Friday's 99-89 win over the Clippers with 13 points, nine rebounds, two assists and three blocks.

Advice: It's a good sign for his value to see coach Terry Stotts is willing to start him next to Robin Lopez. Kaman has been injury prone and has hasn't played big minutes in a while, so he can be ignored in most leagues. Also, LaMarcus Aldridge (groin) should be ready for the opener. Rotoworld.com

  • Meyers Leonard takes seven treys
Meyers Leonard attempted seven triples and made two of them on his way to 14 points with seven rebounds and one assist in 24 minutes against the Clippers on Friday.

Advice: Yes, this is the same Meyers Leonard who went 0-of-6 from beyond the arc last season, so that's cool. He also hit three triples on Wednesday and is hotter from beyond than arc than most sharpshooters. Hopefully you don't need us to tell you he's not going to be a savior for 3-pointers in your fantasy league. Rotoworld.com

  • DeAndre plays 24 minutes
DeAndre Jordan scored just two points with nine rebounds, two assists and two turnovers in 24 minutes on Friday against the Clippers.

Advice: He had a quiet preseason and it is a minor concern to see Spencer Hawes have a decent month. Although, Jordan looked good in spots on defense, so he's not going to take a major hit. We wouldn't expect him to be in the top 10 for minutes again this season, but he'll still be an awesome asset except for free throw shooting. Rotoworld.com
    36 minutes ago
  • Blake Griffin puts up 21 points in 25 minutes
Blake Griffin scored 21 points in 25 minutes against the Blazers on Friday with three rebounds, one steal and one turnover.

Advice: On the down side, he shot just 1-of-3 from the line, which has been a problem in his last four. Griffin did have an positive stretch after the break at the line, so maybe that was a fluke, or maybe not. Still, he's probably going to be the top scorer at power forward and add other stats, as well. Rotoworld.com

  • Who's the Boss? Ed Davis w/ big double-double
Ed Davis was outstanding in the preseason finale with 15 points, 13 rebounds, four assists and no turnovers in 30 minutes against the Kings.

Advice: He's had a couple bright spots and is going to be in the rotation to start the season. Davis probably won't be a big enough part of the offense on opening night, but any injury to a fellow Laker big man would make him an interesting option. Rotoworld.com
    Today, 9:45 pm
  • DeMarcus Cousins looks terrific in finale
DeMarcus Cousins had an awesome finish to his preseason on Friday with 21 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two turnovers in 26 minutes.

Advice: While we're not sure he can stay under his goal of less than five technical fouls, we're positive he's going to be a beast in fantasy leagues. Cousins is a threat to be a 20-10 guy with plenty of defense and is worthy of a selection in the first round. Rotoworld.com
    Today, 9:31 pm
  • Joakim Noah flirts w/ triple-double on Friday
Joakim Noah logged a preseason-high 32 minutes on Friday, converting them into six points, 17 rebounds, nine assists and three turnovers in a loss to the Wolves.

Advice: Offseason knee surgery and the arrival of Pau Gasol have clouded Noah's fantasy outlook somewhat, but this near triple-double is a reminder that he's still a top-50 fantasy value. His knees haven't been an issue during the preseason and coach Tom Thibodeau is never shy about giving his key players heavy minutes, making Noah a reasonable gamble as a No. 1 center. Rotoworld.com
    Today, 7:38 pm
  • Gorgui Dieng struggles w/ early foul trouble
Gorgui Dieng racked up three quick fouls on Friday and never got on track, posting two points, four rebounds, two assists and one steal in a one-point win over the Bulls.

Advice: Dieng has been impressive this preseason and he's averaging 9.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, 0.6 steals and 1.4 blocks in the Wolves' past five games, in just 26 minutes per contest. He'll be a low-end option while stuck in a backup role, but an injury to Thaddeus Young or Nikola Pekovic would thrust him into must-own territory. Rotoworld.com
    Today, 7:36 pm
  • Jonas Valanciunas pulled for poor rebounding
Raptors coach Dwane Casey was displeased with Jonas Valanciunas' rebounding in the first quarter of Friday's game, but JV finished the exhibition victory with 13 points, five rebounds and two blocks in 21 minutes.

Advice: Samuel Dalembert grabbed three easy offensive boards and JV got a quick hook, which was a familiar sight to anyone who watched the Raptors last year. Casey isn't afraid to bench Valanciunas for poor play, but Toronto needs their big man on the court to take another step as a playoff threat. It's a given that JV will average more than the 28.2 minutes he averaged last season, and he's a solid bet for top-50 value. Rotoworld.com
    Today, 7:26 pm
  • NO picks up option on Anthony Davis
The Pelicans exercised their fourth-year option on Anthony Davis.

Advice: This might have been one of the easiest decisions to make in the history of the NBA's Collective Bargaining Agreement. Davis is an option as the top pick in fantasy leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Today, 3:10 pm
  • Pistons exercise option on Andre Drummond
The Pistons exercised their fourth-year option on Andre Drummond.

Advice: This was a no brainer and they'll probably have to max out Drummond when his contract is up after the fourth year. If you can punt free throw percentage properly, Drummond is seriously worth a look at the end of the first round. Rotoworld.com
    Today, 1:00 pm
  • LaMarcus Aldridge (groin) out on Friday
LaMarcus Aldridge (groin) will not play against the Clippers on Friday.

Advice: He did downplay the injury at shootaround and expects to be ready for opening night. "I don't think it's that serious," Aldridge said." Just trying to be cautious right now. It's a little tender, just being safe." He had a groin injury last season and had two surgeries on his hip earlier in his career. This is also the third preseason in a row LMA entered the season with some injury concerns. He is a risky second-round target, but his owners should expect him to be ready for the opener. Today, 12:18 pm
  • Knicks waive D.J. Mbenga and Orlando Sanchez
The Knicks waived D.J. Mbenga and Orlando Sanchez on Friday.

Advice: Neither player was expected to make the regular-season roster, and this news has no fantasy implications. Rotoworld.com
    Today, 11:34 am
  • Tristan Thompson will come off the bench
Tristan Thompson will begin the 2014-15 season coming off the bench for the Cavs.

Advice: Destined for a reserve role, Thompson will enter the 2014-15 season as more of a deep league asset. However, current starting center Anderson Varejao is about as injury prone as they come, so if/when Varejao goes down with an injury, Thompson will gain standard league relevancy as the teams' starting center. Today, 10:35 am
  • Anthony Davis returns from wrist injury
Anthony Davis returned from his wrist injury and played 21 minutes against the Mavericks on Thursday, scoring 13 points with six rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks.

Advice: He dodged a bullet from his sprained wrist on Monday, but he's good to go. In his last four, Davis averaged 20.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.3 blocks and 0.8 steals in just 24.8 minutes per game. Yes, he can fill a stat sheet and is worth taking at the top spot of your fantasy draft, assuming you're OK with taking a risk. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 9:16 pm
  • Blake Griffin accused of club altercation
Blake Griffin has been accused by a man of attacking a man during an argument over a photo in a Las Vegas nightclub last weekend.

Advice: Griffin has not been charged after a 39-year-old man filed a battery complaint with Las Vegas police saying that the Clippers' star slapped him after an argument surrounding a photo. We'll have to await more news on this situation, but it doesn't sound like anything that should preclude fantasy owners from taking Griffin in the late-first or early-second round of their fantasy drafts. Rotoworld.com
    Yesterday, 7:45 am
  • Blake Griffin returns for 35 points
Blake Griffin came off a day of rest and racked up 35 points, seven rebounds, two steals and no blocks on 14-of-26 shooting on Wednesday.

Advice: Griffin looked great tonight, but didn't block a shot (as usual), and struggled from the line at 7-of-13. His free throw shooting really took a positive jump last season, and while this line doesn't put us in panic mode, it does give us pause. Griffin is going to be a solid late-first, or early-second round pick in all formats. Owners just have to hope tonight's free throw shooting isn't indicative of what's to come. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 10:46 pm
  • Chris Kaman scores 12 vs. Lakers
Chris Kaman played through a head injury on Wednesday and hit 5-of-7 shots for 12 points, one rebound, three assists, a steal and two blocks in 23 minutes.

Advice: He started for the Blazers, who rested all their regulars except for Damian Lillard, who played just 17 minutes. Kaman played fairly well against his former team and is having a good preseason, but will likely need an injury from LaMarcus Aldridge or Robin Lopez to make a difference in fantasy. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 9:29 pm
  • Gorgui Dieng continuing to back up Pek
Gorgui Dieng scored 14 points with five rebounds, two assists and four blocks in 29 minutes against the Bucks on Wednesday.

Advice: It's worth noting that he didn't play next to Nikola Pekovic tonight and he's probably not going to in the regular season unless the Wolves are in foul trouble. As tonight's stat line suggests, Dieng is worth a look late in drafts and would be a beast should Pek need to miss time. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 8:31 pm
  • Tristan Thompson quiet in 17 minutes
Tristan Thompson had nine points, five rebounds, two steals and zero blocks on 3-of-8 shooting in 17 minutes on Wednesday.

Advice: Anderson Varejao is starting at center and Kevin Love is going to eat up the power forward minutes, but Thompson will see minutes backing up both of them. And once Varejao goes down with an injury (don't kid yourself - it will happen), Thompson could find himself starting at center. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 8:00 pm
  • Uh oh Antetokounmpo: Giannis shoots 0-of-7
Giannis Antetokoumpo missed all seven shots from the field in an otherwise stat-stuffing Wednesday game, adding one point at the line, five rebounds, three assists, four steals, three blocks and eight turnovers in 25 minutes. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 7:49 pm
  • DeAndre Jordan, Jamal Crawford resting
DeAndre Jordan and Jamal Crawford got the night off on Wednesday.

Advice: Blake Griffin and Chris Paul sat out on Tuesday, so this is just a day off for two of the Clippers better players. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 7:41 pm
  • Jonas Valanciunas quiet on Wednesday
Jonas Valanciunas played just 12 minutes and had three points, two rebounds and a block on Wednesday.

Advice: JV was quiet tonight, but is clearly the main option in the middle for the Raptors and could be primed for a breakout season. Don't be scared off by his inconsistent preseason. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 7:37 pm
  • Joakim Noah to wear a brace all season
Joakim Noah (knee) will wear a knee brace all season.

Advice: The team admitted his rehab took longer than expected, but Noah did say this week that he's not dealing with swelling. That could change as the year goes along, so he might need some rest days, which won't be a huge problem for them considering their depth up front. Fantasy owners probably shouldn't be too aggressive in targeting Noah. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 12:08 pm
  • Chris Kaman bitten, tested for concussion
Chris Kaman received three stitches on his head after being accidentally bitten by Nuggets C Timofey Mozgov.

Advice: Kaman said he felt "pretty good" after the game, but the Blazers tested him for a concussion and he's uncertain to play on Wednesday. He isn't holding the bizarre incident against Mozgov, either. "I went back pretty hard and I must've hit him in the chest," Kaman said. "He kind of folded over and his teeth went down on my head." Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 6:14 am
  • DeAndre Jordan picking up where he left off
DeAndre Jordan had 13 points, nine rebounds, five assists, three steals and one block in a losing effort on Tuesday, while making 5-of-8 FGs and 3-of-6 FTs.

Advice: He's picking up right where he left off last season, shooting 76 percent over the past five games while racking up copious rebounds, steals and blocks. His FT shooting is worse than ever (37 percent in the preseason), so roto owners must be wary of his ability to tank a category single-handedly. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 10:24 pm
  • Blazers to rest all starters but Lillard
The Blazers are expected to rest all of their starters except for Damian Lillard during Wednesday's exhibition vs. the Lakers.

Advice: Terry Stotts is just giving his core players a break during a meaningless game, and this has zero impact on any player's fantasy outlook. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 10:14 pm
  • Ed Davis impressive off bench vs. Phoenix
Lakers PF Ed Davis came off the bench for 11 points, six rebounds, one assist, two steals and three blocks in 23 spirited minutes vs. the Suns on Tuesday.

Advice: Davis has quickly emerged as coach Byron Scott's preferred backup big man, reducing Robert Sacre to an afterthought. He's worth a flier pick in deep leagues, as he has the potential to average 5+ rebounds and 1+ blocks with low-volume, high-percentage points. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 10:00 pm
  • Blake Griffin, CP3 get the night off
Blake Griffin and Chris Paul will both be rested on Tuesday night.

Advice: Nothing to see here, folks. It's simply a preseason day off. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 6:10 pm
  • Chris Kaman playing well off Blazers bench
Chris Kaman is averaging 10.5 points and 8.0 rebounds in his four games off the bench for Portland this preseason.

Advice: If you're in a deep league that requires you starting two centers, Kaman may be worth a look at the end of your draft. And if Robin Lopez or LaMarcus Aldridge go down at some point, he'll become a must-own player. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 5:04 pm
  • Anthony Davis practicing on Tuesday
Anthony Davis (wrist) participated in Tuesday's practice with his right wrist wrapped.

Advice: The sound you hear is fantasy owners breathing a sigh of relief as the fact that Davis is practicing the day after injuring his wrist is promising news. Davis has been a consensus top-3 pick in fantasy drafts this year and owners who like to draft high-upside players should have no issue with taking the 21-year-old with the No. 1 overall pick. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 10:06 am
  • Cousins triple-doubles with turnovers vs. SA
DeMarcus Cousins (Achilles) triple-doubled with turnovers in Monday's preseason loss to the Spurs, scoring 32 points on 12-of-14 shooting with 11 rebounds, four assists, two steals, one block and a whopping 10 turnovers.

Advice: Five of those turnovers were offensive fouls in a quintessential Boogie game tonight. The Spurs rested Tim Duncan and Tiago Splitter (calf) was out, so they had nobody that could even remotely control him. He's going to be a thrill ride this season. His Achilles' injury is not a concern. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 9:19 pm
  • Thompson looks like he's coming off the bench
Tristan Thompson came off the bench in Monday's preseason game against the Bulls, scoring 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting with eight rebounds and two blocks in 24 minutes.

Advice: Hopefully he can keep the blocks up but 0.4 per game last season is probably a better indicator. David Blatt said tonight's game would be run like a regular season game and that probably means Thompson is the swing big backing up both Anderson Varejao and Kevin Love. He has a hard time accumulating value as a big-minute starter, so needless to say this news moves him further into deep league territory. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 7:28 pm
  • All Clear: Anthony Davis says wrist is 'fine'
Anthony Davis said his sprained right wrist is "fine" and that he wanted to return to the Monday's exhibition game.

Advice: All clear, as expected. Davis wanted to return but Monty Williams held him out, and as writers said at the time he never appeared to be in pain. Owners can continue drafting him anywhere between No. 1 and 3 with visions of untold fantasy greatness. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 7:11 pm
  • Anthony Davis suffers sprained right wrist
Anthony Davis suffered a sprained right wrist in Monday's preseason game and will not return.

Advice: That's probably doubtful and let's say right off the bat that the beat writers are saying he doesn't appear to be in any pain. We'll update you as soon as we get a handle on this and owners should keep the needle still until we hear of a legitimate reason to be concerned. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 6:01 pm
  • Tristan Thompson coming off the bench
Tristan Thompson will come off the bench against the Bulls on Monday.

Advice: He's actually been great so far this preseason, making 20-of-34 from the field and 15-of-19 from the line. Thompson isn't a great foul shooter and only somehow blocked just 0.4 shots per game last season, so fantasy owners shouldn't be too eager to pick him up. Rotoworld.com
    Monday, 8:41 am
  • Joakim Noah: 'I have no swelling in my knee'
Joakim Noah (knee) started Sunday's game vs. Charlotte and scored four points with seven rebounds and two assists in 24 minutes.

Advice: "I feel a lot better than I did two weeks ago," said Noah, who had offseason knee surgery. "It’s a work in progress, but overall I’m very happy. I have no swelling in my knee and I can keep building." We've repeatedly warned that his scoring and assists may dip this year with Derrick Rose and Pau Gasol leading the offense, but that shouldn't prevent Noah from being a top-50 fantasy option and a low-end No. 1 center. Rotoworld.com
    Sunday, 7:36 pm
  • Gorgui Dieng has team option exercised
Gorgui Dieng had his team option exercised on Sunday.

Advice: He was a revelation at the end of last season when he replaced an injured Nikola Pekovic in the starting lineup. Dieng is penciled in as the backup center to Pek for now, but given Pek's injury history, Dieng might be worth a late-round flier. Rotoworld.com
    Sunday, 12:09 pm
  • Jusuf Nurkic may be the backup center
Jusuf Nurkic may be the Nugget's backup center if Javale McGee is not ready for opening night.

Advice: Nurkic has been an absolute beast on the boards in preseason, and looks like a steal for the Nuggets as he has averaged 9.4 rebounds per game. If McGee doesn't return soon, Nurkic may run away with the backup center spot and would be worth an extended look in deep leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Sunday, 11:58 am
  • Joakim Noah feeling good physically
Joakim Noah is very happy with where he's at physically, and he's experienced no swelling in his knee.

Advice: Noah isn't going to be asked to do as much this season with Pau Gasol and Derrick Rose helping out with the offense, but he'll still be worthy of an early-round selection. Rotoworld.com
    Sunday, 11:06 am
  • DeMarcus Cousins turns it over nine times
DeMarcus Cousins turned the ball over nine times in 26 minutes on Saturday with 19 points, 12 boards, two blocks and one steal.

Advice: The turnovers were a bit much and he did have 4.0 turnovers per game in limited action before tonight. Cousins is still going to be a monster for fantasy owners and is worth a look at the end of the first round. Rotoworld.com
    Saturday, 10:57 pm
  • Blake Griffin scores 27 points vs. Nuggets
Blake Griffin scored 27 points with five rebounds, one steal and one block in 31 minutes.

Advice: He was 9-of-13 from the line, which has been a bit of a problem in the preseason. Griffin was 3-of-9 on Friday, so hopefully he's just in a funk. His 74 percent from the line after the break might have been a bit of a fluke. Rotoworld.com
    Saturday, 10:36 pm
  • Jusuf Nurkic grabs nine board on Sat.
Jusuf Nurkic grabbed nine rebounds against the Clippers, adding four points, two assists, two blocks and two steals in 18 minutes.

Advice: His rebounding rate has been superb in his young career, but he sure is rough around the edges. Nurkic looks like a steal at 16, but it'll likely take a couple seasons before he's on the fantasy radar. Rotoworld.com
    Saturday, 10:20 pm
  • Andre Drummond flirts with preseason 20-20
Andre Drummond continued to own the paint against the Hawks Saturday, grabbing 17 rebounds with two steals, three blocks and 19 points.

Advice: On the downside, he did shoot just 1-of-7 from the line, so that's not good. Besides that, the stats are going to be coming in bunches and he'll probably have so many 20-20s this season that he'll be doing TV commercials for Lasik companies. If you're in a league that doesn't penalize for FT%, he's arguably the best player to draft. Rotoworld.com
    Saturday, 8:02 pm
  • Leonard (neck) gets back on the floor
Meyers Leonard (neck) returned to action on Friday, playing nine minutes off the bench with six points, five rebounds and three assists.

Advice: Leonard is a man without a role for the Blazers these days. With Chris Kaman set to get backup center minutes he's trying to morph into a stretch four but that's going to be a heavy lift. Fantasy owners can safely ignore him until he shows us something. Rotoworld.com
    Friday, 10:47 pm
  • Thompson double-doubles in start
Tristan Thompson double-doubled in another start on Friday, scoring 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting with 11 rebounds in 30 minutes.

Advice: That's the good news. The bad news is that as usual he didn't do anything else in the box score and outside of points leagues those other categories count too. Kevin Love (neck) was held out tonight so Anderson Varejao (seven points, seven rebounds, three assists, four steals) also started and we did not get much clarity on who will be in the starting lineup on Opening Night. Rotoworld.com
    Friday, 8:49 pm
  • DeMarcus Cousins will play on Saturday
DeMarcus Cousins has been dealing with some Achilles tendinitis, but he will play in Saturday's preseason game.

Advice: The fact that DeMarcus will be playing in a meaningless preseason game tells us this Achilles tendinitis will be a non-issue moving forward. Boogie was superb last season with the Kings, averaging career-highs across the board in points (22.7), rebounds (11.7), assists (2.9), and blocks (1.3). With zero competition for minutes, and him again set to be the focal point of the Kings' offense, Cousins makes for an excellent selection towards the end of the first round in standard leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Friday, 1:43 pm
  • Meyers Leonard will play on Friday night
Meyers Leonard (neck) will play against Maccabi Haifa on Friday.

Advice: He suffered a neck injury last week and returned to practice on Wednesday. With Chris Kaman helping off the bench, Leonard is going to have a tough time getting minutes. Rotoworld.com
    Friday, 6:50 am
  • Jusuf Nurkic is careless on Thursday
Jusuf Nurkic turned the ball over six times and committed five fouls in 21 minutes against the Warriors on Thursday, scoring five points with eight boards, one assist, one steal and three blocks.

Advice: He's been filling up the stat sheet, but the turnovers and fouls have been out of control. Nurkic is showing some nice potential, but the Nuggets are going to see him play with a little more control before he gets significant minutes. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 9:36 pm
  • Joakim Noah plays 27 minutes on Thursday
Joakim Noah played 27 minutes against the Hawks on Thursday with seven points, 13 boards, four assists, one steal and three blocks.

Advice: His knee soreness seems to be behind him and he was active under the basket tonight. Noah is not going to be asked to do nearly as much, so fantasy owners shouldn't be expecting him to be a top-20 guy again. Plus, he did have some injuries before his big 2013-14 season. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 8:46 pm
  • Anthony Davis looks amazing again
Anthony Davis looked dominant against the Thunder on Thursday, making 10-of-15 from the field for 28 points with eight rebounds, two assists and one block.

Advice: He's good at basketball. Rotoworld.com
    Thursday, 7:55 pm
  • Tristan Thompson over his shoulder injury
Tristan Thompson returned to action from a sore shoulder on Wednesday and hit 3-of-6 shots for six points, nine rebounds and two assists in 26 minutes.

Advice: He's going to see a lot of minutes at power forward and especially center, if Anderson Varejao can't stay healthy. He's worth a late draft pick even if coming off the bench. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 9:29 pm
  • Tristan Thompson (shoulder) will play Wed.
Tristan Thompson (shoulder) will play on Wednesday night.

Advice: He had a minor shoulder injury keep him out of the lineup on Tuesday. Thompson is expected to start at center this season, but he's one of the most inefficient players in the league and will really need to post some eye-popping stats to become a top-100 player. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 3:20 pm
  • Meyers Leonard back at practice
Meyers Leonard (neck) returned to practice on Wednesday.

Advice: He was able to take on contact in his first action of the week. Leonard hasn't quite lived up to being a first-round pick and will need a few things to happen to get regular playing time. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 1:02 pm
  • DeMarcus Cousins rested w/ Achilles soreness
DeMarcus Cousins sat out Wednesday's game due to "bilateral Achilles soreness," but the injury is not considered serious.

Advice: This was really just a maintenance day for Cousins before the Kings' long flight home from Beijing, where they played the Nets in a preseason exhibition. Achilles injuries are typically a red flag but unless another report emerges this shouldn't impact DMC's season outlook. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 10:44 am
  • LaMarcus Aldridge planning to shoot more 3s
LaMarcus Aldridge said that he'll "definitely" take more 3-pointers this season, and that coach Terry Stotts has already implemented offensive sets to get him shots beyond the arc.

Advice: "Coach has been trying to get me to shoot them for the last two years," Aldridge said. "I definitely worked on it this summer and I feel more comfortable with it." He also studied tape to improve his reactions to double-teams, and all signs are positive as he enters a contract year in Portland. Any 3-pointers should be considered a bonus, as he's currently 24-of-116 from downtown in his eight-year career. Rotoworld.com
    Wednesday, 10:14 am
  • Anthony Davis in midseason form in win
Anthony Davis hit 9-of-11 shots and 8-of-10 free throws for 26 points, eight rebounds, a steal and four blocks in Tuesday's win over the Rockets.

Advice: Dwight Howard and James Harden were out for the Rockets, but Davis is going to be dominant any time he's on the court this season. If you want to take him No. 1 overall with Kevin Durant down and out (foot), do it. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 9:40 pm
  • Tristan Thompson (shoulder) out Tuesday
Tristan Thompson (sore shoulder) will miss Tuesday's game as a precaution.

Advice: Anderson Varejao will start again at center, though early signs point to Thompson earning the job on opening night. Thompson's double-double potential is intriguing but he doesn't offer enough assists, steals or blocks to be a viable option in most 8-cat and 9-cat leagues. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 3:34 pm
  • Tristan Thompson (shoulder) game-time Tuesday
Tristan Thompson (sore shoulder) will be a game-time decision on Tuesday.

Advice: He sat out practice as a precaution but the injury is "nothing major" and he should be back on the court very soon, even if he does sit out vs. the Bucks. Anderson Varejao is likely to get another start at center if Thompson can't suit up. Rotoworld.com
    Tuesday, 11:31 am
  • Raptors exercise option on Jonas Valanciunas
The Toronto Raptors have exercised their fourth-year option on Jonas Valanciunas.

Advice: In what was a no-brainer move for the Raptors, JV's contract is now guaranteed through the 2015-16 season. The 22-year-old had a bit of an up-and-down sophomore season, but finished strong with April averages of 16.7 points, 11.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.4 steals, and 0.9 blocks. If Valanciunas can bring increased consistency to his game in 2014-15, he'll easily exceed his current mid-round ADP as one of the better centers in fantasy hoops. Rotoworld.com

  • Griffin scores 31 points in loss to Jazz
Blake Griffin scored 31 points on 14-of-22 shooting with five rebounds and two steals in Monday's preseason loss to the Jazz.

Advice: Griffin struggled vs. Portland on Sunday and the extended minutes were a bit of a surprise, but he was able to get back on track nonetheless. Especially with Kevin Durant dealing with a foot issue now, Griffin is going to be in the mix for MVP consideration and he's a top 20-30 guy in 8- and 9-cat leagues, respectively. Rotoworld.com

  • Nurkic continues to play balls to the wall
Jusuf Nurkic continued to play at break-neck pace in Monday's preseason loss, scoring 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting with three rebounds in 14 minutes before fouling out.

Advice: Nurkic was leading the NBA with 12.0 rebounds per game during preseason action before tonight, but had hit just 6-of-19 shots and 2-of-8 free throws in the process. It's unclear what version of JaVale McGee the Nuggets are going to get, and whether or not J.J. Hickson can do anything substantial, but Nurkic needs to smooth a lot of edges before he hits the radar in most leagues. Rotoworld.com
