  • C.J. Miles (knee) scrimmages on Sunday
C.J. Miles (left knee) scrimmaged on Sunday.

Advice: It looks like Miles will be good to go for the regular season opener against the Mavericks on Wednesday, but he won't have much value at all this year as Paul George's backup. Today, 12:40 pm
  • Alex Abrines (hip) questionable for opener
Alex Abrines (hip) was limited during Sunday's practice and Billy Donovan would not commit to him being ready for opening night.

Advice: While Abrines is making progress in his recovery, he's still not able to take contact, and with the regular-season just three days away, we're going to consider him doubtful for opening night. That being said, Abrines probably won't be in the rotation all that often this season, so whether he plays or not will have no bearing in fantasy hoops. Today, 12:35 pm
  • Hoiberg hopeful Valentine can play in opener
Fred Hoiberg said that Denzel Valentine (ankle) should be able to go through a full practice on Monday, and he's hopeful that Valentine will be ready for the regular-season opener.

Advice: Valentine was again limited to non-contact work during Sunday's practice, but it sounds like he's making some solid progress, so opening night could be a possibility. Still, he's going to struggle to find meaningful minutes while the Bulls are at full strength, meaning he's not worth drafting in almost any format. Today, 12:28 pm
  • Cristiano Felicio (neck) doesn't practice Sun
Cristiano Felicio (neck) did not practice on Sunday.

Advice: He's still dealing with some swelling in his throat, but it would be surprising if he weren't able to go by opening night. Felicio will have a very limited role behind Robin Lopez this season, so you'd have to be in an insanely deep league to look his way. Today, 12:24 pm
  • Darrell Arthur (knee) limited at practice Sun
Darrell Arthur (knee surgery) was a limited participant during Sunday's practice.

Advice: Michael Malone is hopeful that Arthur will be able to ramp of his activities during Monday and Tuesday's practice, but he remains questionable for Denver's regular-season opener against the Pelicans on Wednesday. Arthur won't be on the court enough while the team is at full strength to justify a roster spot in fantasy hoops. Today, 12:12 pm
  • Frank Kaminsky (foot) questionable for opener
Frank Kaminsky (right foot sprain) is questionable to play Charlotte's regular-season opener against Milwaukee.

Advice: Marvin Williams (finger) is going to play on opening night, so Kaminsky's status is more or less meaningless. If Kaminsky is out on Wednesday, it'll be Michael Kidd-Gilchrist earning some extended minutes at the four-spot, with Roy Hibbert and Spencer Hawes splitting the center minutes. Today, 11:40 am
  • Boris Diaw (leg) practices in full on Sunday
Boris Diaw (right leg) was a full participant during Sunday's practice.

Advice: Diaw sat out Saturday's practice with a leg bruise, but he should be just fine for opening night. Still, he won't have a large enough role in Utah to justify a draft pick in almost any format. Today, 11:36 am
  • Devin Harris (foot) questionable for opener
Devin Harris re-injured his left foot during Friday's preseason finale in Denver, and Rick Carlisle said that he'll be "questionable at best" for Wednesday's season opener against the Pacers.

Advice: While Harris isn't worth drafting in any setting, this is just another reminder that the guys in front of Seth Curry (Deron Williams, J.J. Barea, Harris) seem to be perpetually injured. While Curry might not get off to a quick start, he could eventually be forced into heavy minutes once the guys in front of him go down with their inevitable injuries. Gambling on Curry towards the last few rounds makes sense. Today, 11:21 am
  • J.J. Barea (elbow) targeting opening night
J.J. Barea (left elbow) participated in some non-contact work during Sunday's practice, and he's hopeful that he'll be good to go by opening night.

Advice: The Mavs are currently listing Barea as day-to-day, so for now we'll be considering him questionable for opening night. Barea has had a tough time staying on the court over the years, so he's not worth drafting almost anywhere. As a side note, Rick Carlisle said that if Barea can't give it a go on Wednesday, Seth Curry will be Dallas' backup point guard. Today, 11:14 am
  • Brett Brown won't reveal his starting PG
76ers coach Brett Brown has not decided on a starting point guard for the season opener.

Advice: Jerryd Bayless (wrist) will be out for at least a couple weeks, so the decision will come down to Sergio Rodriguez and T.J. McConnell. Neither player really separated themselves during the preseason, but Rodriguez has more upside and is the better flier late in drafts. Today, 10:14 am
  • Terrence Ross limited at practice Sunday
Terrence Ross took a knee to his thigh during Sunday's practice, but it's not believed to be serious.

Advice: Ross has already been dealing with a knee issue, but he did play in the preseason finale. There will be an update on Monday, but Ross should be fine for the season opener. He's not a reliable option in standard leagues while the Raptors are healthy. Today, 10:09 am
  • Raptors pick up Nogueira's option
The Raptors have picked up their fourth-year option on Lucas Nogueira.

Advice: He had a decent preseason and it looks like he has the edge over Jakob Poeltl for the backup center role. He won't be a fantasy asset while Jonas Valanciunas is active. He is dealing with a tweaked left ankle, but said he expects to be ready for the opener. Today, 8:35 am
  • Raptors pick up their option on Caboclo
The Raptors have picked up their fourth-year option on Bruno Caboclo.

Advice: The Raptors aren't giving up on him yet, but sooner or later Caboclo has to prove that he's an NBA player. Expect him to spend a lot of time developing in the D-Leauge this season. Today, 8:32 am
  • Ben Bentil drawing interest from Pacers
Ben Bentil is drawing interest from the Pacers.

Advice: The Celtics didn't have room for Bentil on their 15-man roster, but he does have some talent. The Pacers likely just want his D-League rights, so there are no fantasy implications here. Today, 8:24 am

  • Fizdale says Allen has made progress
Memphis coach David Fizdale said that Tony Allen's knee has made progress.

Advice: "He looked good, and I think he’s getting close," Fizdale said. "I don’t want to say there’s guarantees, but he went through the whole practice today and all of yesterday. We don’t go for continuous long stretches of time, but he’s looking better, and I’m hoping we get him back soon." Allen returned to practice this week after missing all six preseason games due to knee soreness, but he's hopeful to play in the season opener. Fizdale confirmed that he will start at SG this season and the Grizzlies even let him run the point in training camp, so the minutes should be there. If you need steals, Allen's worth a look. Today, 7:41 am
  • C.J. Miles (left knee) will not need surgery
C.J. Miles (left knee) will not require surgery.

Advice: That's the good news. Here's the bad: Miles is dealing with swollen tissue just beneath his kneecap, and it's not clear when he might be able to return to the court. Although the veteran is optimistic he will be ready for the season opener, we're more pessimistic given it's a recurring issue coupled with the fact that there is no clear treatment plan in place. Miles is shooting jumpers and "occasionally" running on a treadmill, but you have to do a lot more than that to be an effective NBA player. Miles hopes the next step involves contact drills, but the Pacers will reevaluate him at every turn along the way. An MRI has ruled out any structural damage, but nobody seems to have a clear vision of what the timeline could be. "I'm definitely not going to get in a game without a chance to be in practice," Miles said. Glen Robinson III is the favorite to take Miles' minutes assuming he's out to begin the year. Yesterday, 3:30 pm
  • Tony Allen (knee) hopeful for season opener
Tony Allen (knee) returned to a full practice on Saturday and is hopeful to play in the season opener.

Advice: Allen did admit that he does need to do a better job of listening to his body, but he's got a well-established reputation for playing through anything and everything he can. We don't expect that to change anytime soon, so if he can play on opening night, we expect him to be out there. The Grizzlies will determine his status based on the amount of residual swelling he has, so expect multiple updates prior to Wednesday. If he can't go, Memphis is going to have to get creative with its starting lineup given Chandler Parsons (knee surgery) remains a major question mark. Yesterday, 1:47 pm
  • Cristiano Felicio (neck) gets a DNP Saturday
Cristiano Felicio (neck) did not practice on Saturday.

Advice: The big man was elbowed in his throat last game, so the Bulls decided to give him a rest. It doesn't sound serious and there are no indications that he's in danger of missing more time moving forward. Yesterday, 12:24 pm
  • Denzel Valentine does non-contact practice
Denzel Valentine (left ankle sprain) was able to participate in the non-contact portions of Saturday's practice.

Advice: In other words, Valentine went through dummy drills. It remains unclear if he'll be ready for opening night, but the Bulls recently acquired Michael Carter-Williams who should play ahead of Valentine regardless. Yesterday, 12:23 pm
  • Boris Diaw (leg contusion) DNP on Saturday
Boris Diaw (right leg contusion) did not practice on Saturday.

Advice: It was previously reported that Diaw had a left leg contusion, but either way it does not sound serious and the veteran should be ready to roll for opening night. He could be looking at a bigger role out of the gate given Derrick Favors (left knee) faces an uncertain timetable to return. Yesterday, 12:17 pm
  • Spanish Chocolate starts, scores 13
Sergio Rodriguez scored 13 points with three rebounds, four assists and two 3-pointers in 26 minutes during his start on Friday.

Advice: T.J. McConnell started the second half, so this position battle is still unclear. Jerryd Bayless (wrist) is going to miss the start of the season and it's still possible he needs surgery. Both Rodriguez and McConnell should be looking at a split of the minutes. Spanish Chocolate has the higher upside, so he's the better pick in deep leagues. Friday, 9:10 pm
  • Frank Kaminsky suffers right foot sprain
Frank Kaminsky suffered a right foot sprain on Friday.

Advice: That's not good and it was more than just the originally reported soreness. Kaminsky will likely be getting further evaluation this weekend to determine his prognosis and treatment. For now, we will consider him between doubtful and questionable for the opener. If he and Marvin Williams (finger) can't go, the Hornets will have to play multiple players out of position. Friday, 6:29 pm
  • Frank Kaminsky (right foot) to locker room
Frank Kaminsky has gone to the locker room to be evaluated for a sore right foot.

Advice: It didn't look bad and hopefully it's just soreness. Kaminsky was absolutely dominated by Karl-Anthony Towns and the Hornets have no incentive to put him back out there. With Marvin Williams (finger) questionable for the season opener, the Hornets may need Frank the Tank. Friday, 5:46 pm
  • Bebe sprains his left ankle
Lucas Nogueira (left ankle sprain) will not return on Friday.

Advice: He was in some pain due to the first half injury. Nogueira was the first big man off the bench and looked like he would be in the rotation. If he's not ready, that opens up a chance for Pascal Siakam and Jakob Poeltl. Friday, 5:36 pm
  • Update: Terrence Ross in, Cory Joseph out
Terrence Ross will dress and Cory Joseph is out with flu-like symptoms for Friday.

Advice: The Raptors have said Ross is in, then out, and now he's in again today. Friday, 4:07 pm
  • Sergio, Hendo, Cov, Saric & Process starting
Sergio Rodriguez, Gerald Henderson, Robert Covington, Dario Saric and Joel Embiid will start on Friday.

Advice: This seems like a tune up for the 76ers and maybe it means Rodriguez starts the opener. For what it's worth, this group was together in their scrimmage on Thursday. There still isn't enough upside to draft Rodriguez in most leagues. Friday, 3:17 pm
  • Update: Terrence Ross will not play
Terrence Ross (knee) will not play on Friday.

Advice: It was reported earlier Ross was going to play, but the Raptors will keep him out. He still should be able to suit up for the opener as the first wing off the bench. He and Norman Powell negate each other in the second unit. Friday, 2:53 pm
  • C.J. Miles up in the air for opener
C.J. Miles (knee) did not practice on Friday.

Advice: With Miles down, the Pacers have seen Glenn Robinson III have a wonderful preseason. Miles is expected to play more stretch four in the second unit, but his minutes could be in jeopardy if GR3 keeps playing well. Friday, 1:44 pm
  • Boris Diaw (leg) on the injury report
Boris Diaw (left leg contusion) did not practice on Friday.

Advice: This is a new injury for Diaw. There was no indication of an injury before this, so it's likely just a light bruise. For now, expect Diaw to be available for the opener. Friday, 12:16 pm
  • Celtics release Ben Bentil
The Celtics have waived Ben Bentil.

Advice: The Celtics roster is now down to 16, so the decisions will only get tougher. Bentil is a nice prospect and should draw some interest around the league. Friday, 10:10 am
    Not Active
  • Darrell Arthur (knee) ruled out Friday
Darrell Arthur (knee surgery) will not play on Friday vs. Dallas.

Advice: There was some hope that Arthur could go after he took some contact in Thursday's practice, but the Nuggets aren't going to take any chances. The Nuggets going with a big lineup of Nikola Jokic and Jusuf Nurkic hurts Arthur's outlook, especially since he's behind Kenneth Faried on the depth chart. Arthur can be considered questionable for the opener. Friday, 10:06 am
  • Terrence Ross will play, Cory Joseph will not
Terrence Ross (knee) will play on Friday vs. the Wizards, while Cory Joseph (illness) has been ruled out.

Advice: Ross was able to get up some shots on Wednesday and this confirms that he will be ready for opening night, barring a setback. The Raptors have been talking him up a ton, but he's not a lock to be the first wing off the bench with Norman Powell around. Ross is only on the radar in deeper formats. Friday, 8:24 am
  • Darrell Arthur (knee) questionable for Friday
Darrell Arthur (knee surgery) took some contact during Thursday's practice, and there's a chance he can suit up for Friday's preseason finale against the Mavericks.

Advice: Friday will mark Day-10 of Arthur's initial 10-14 day timetable, so if he wakes up feeling fine after going through Thursday's practice, he could certainly be on the floor Friday night. That being said, he's not going to have any value in fantasy hoops this season while the team is healthy. Thursday, 4:09 pm
  • Walker, Batum, MKG, Kaminsky, Hibbert start
Kemba Walker, Nicolas Batum, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Frank Kaminsky and Roy Hibbert will be in the starting lineup for Thursday's preseason matchup with the Heat.

Advice: Marvin Williams is dealing with a broken finger, and Cody Zeller (knee) still isn't 100 percent, so Kaminsky will have the opportunity to run with the starters tonight. Steve Clifford hasn't officially ruled Williams' out for opening night, but if he's not able to give it a go, it'll likely be Kaminsky opening the year as Charlotte's starting four-man. That being said, Kaminsky's value will tank once Williams' gets back on the court, so he's only worth a look as a late-round flier in deep leagues. Thursday, 3:32 pm
  • J.J. Barea (elbow) questionable for opener
Rick Carlisle would not commit to J.J. Barea (left elbow) being ready for the regular-season opener.

Advice: "I don’t know that he’s definitely going to be ready for Indiana," said Carilsle. "Just because he’s doing well doesn’t mean anything is set in terms of him being available at a certain time." If Barea begins the year on the sidelines, that will open up some more minutes for Seth Curry. Barea isn't worth drafting almost anywhere, but Curry is a very attractive late-round target with the injury prone guys ahead of him. Thursday, 1:10 pm
  • Alex Abrines (hip) limited to shooting Thurs
Alex Abrines (hip) was limited to some light shooting during Thursday's practice.

Advice: Abrines' hip injury doesn't sound all that serious, so he should be good to go once the regular season tips. However, he's not going to have a large enough role in the rotation to command fantasy value in any setting. Thursday, 12:18 pm
  • Barea (elbow), Acy (foot) out Friday vs. DEN
J.J. Barea (elbow) and Quincy Acy (foot) have been ruled out for Friday's preseason finale against the Nuggets.

Advice: Neither player is dealing with a significant injury, but there's no reason to risk a setback during a meaningless game. Barea will be in the rotation, but he's not going to get enough minutes to matter in most settings this season. Acy is a complete non-factor in fantasy hoops. Thursday, 11:18 am
  • Denzel Valentine (ankle) targeting opener
Denzel Valentine (ankle) is hopeful he'll be good to go by opening night.

Advice: "That’s the plan," Valentine said when asked if he'll be ready for the regular-season opener. "But if not, then just have to keep going with how I feel. Hopefully, I'm back soon." With the arrival of Michael Carter-Williams, it's going to be really tough for Valentine to see meaningful minutes his rookie season. Thursday, 11:16 am
  • Sergio, Hendo, Cov, Saric & Process starting?
Sergio Rodriguez, Gerald Henderson, Robert Covington, Dario Saric and Joel Embiid were playing together on a scrimmage.

Advice: It's a toss up for Rodriguez or T.J. McConnell to start in the opener. It looks like Jerryd Bayless (wrist) is not going to be ready for the opener, which means there should be a lot of minutes available. Wednesday, 4:07 pm
  • J.J. Barea (elbow) will not play on Wednesday
J.J. Barea (hyperextended elbow) will not play on Wednesday.

Advice: With the Mavs going with a dress rehearsal tonight, there should be a nice amount of minutes for Seth Curry off the bench. Barea will be in the rotation and should get minutes in the teens while the Mavs are healthy. Wednesday, 4:03 pm
  • C.J. Miles (sore knee) held out of contact
C.J. Miles (sore left knee) did spot-up shooting on Wednesday but he didn't participate in contact drills.

Advice: Miles won't play on Wednesday, obviously, and it's unclear when he'll be cleared to return -- the injury doesn't sound too serious but Indiana might play it safe with the veteran marksman. If he does miss time, expect Glenn Robinson III to pick up most of his minutes. Wednesday, 3:58 pm
  • Denzel Valentine (ankle) will not play
Denzel Valentine (ankle) will not play on Thursday night.

Advice: He is going through some contact in practice and has a good chance to be ready on opening night. Valentine should be in the rotation with around 20 minutes per game, but he loses some value with the Michael Carter-Williams deal. Wednesday, 11:11 am
  • Miles (knee), Brooks (knee) out Wednesday
C.J. Miles (sore left knee) and Aaron Brooks (sore right knee) have been ruled out for Wednesday's preseason game against the Bucks.

Advice: Neither player is dealing with a significant injury, but it always seems to be something with Miles. Neither Miles nor Brooks will be worth drafting in most leagues this season. Wednesday, 10:29 am
  • Terrence Ross (knee) out Wednesday vs. DET
Terrence Ross (knee) will not suit up for Wednesday's preseason game against the Pistons.

Advice: Ross was able to get on the court for some light shooting during Wednesday morning's shootaround, so he is making progress, although it seems unlikely that he'll be able to suit up for Toronto's final two preseason games. He should be good to go by opening night, but Ross won't be a fantasy hoops factor this season stuck in a reserve role fighting for minutes with Norman Powell. Wednesday, 9:39 am
  • Tony Allen (knee) ruled out Wednesday
Tony Allen (knee) will not play on Wednesday vs. the Wolves.

Advice: It's the preseason finale, so the Grizzlies will continue resting him with the regular season just a week away. He's expected to start at SG, but he should be considered questionable for the season opener. Tuesday, 4:10 pm
  • Alex Abrines (hip) out Tuesday vs. Denver
Alex Abrines (hip flexor) has been ruled out for Tuesday's preseason game against the Nuggets.

Advice: With Abrines on the sidelines Tuesday night, Semaj Christon should be able to pick up some extra minutes, although neither of these guys will have any fantasy value when the regular season begins. Tuesday, 11:56 am
  • Denzel Valentine (ankle) limited at practice
Denzel Valentine (ankle) was limited to conditioning work during Tuesday's practice.

Advice: Valentine should be considered questionable for Thursday's exhibition game against the Hawks, and if he's out, it'll be Isaiah Canaan earning some extended minutes. Valentine is likely going to struggle to get meaningful minutes his rookie season, so he's not a great target in most settings. Tuesday, 11:51 am
  • C.J. Miles takes some practice shots on Tues
C.J. Miles (sore left knee) didn't practice, but was able to take some shots on Tuesday.

Advice: Miles will travel with the team to Milwaukee and is expected to participate in shootaround on Wednesday. While Miles looks to be on track for the regular season opener, he doesn't have much fantasy value outside of deeper leagues. Tuesday, 10:31 am
  • Frank Kaminsky (foot) shoots 4-of-14 vs. CHI
Frank Kaminsky (foot) finished Monday's OT win vs. Chicago with 14 points on 4-of-14 shooting, three 3-pointers, three rebounds, two assists and one block in 32 minutes.

Advice: The foot injury came out of nowhere and the fact that he played big minutes in a meaningless preseason game is proof that he's fine. Kaminsky's fantasy outlook is bleak, though he's worth watching in deep leagues with Cody Zeller (knee) and Marvin Williams (finger) both ailing. Monday, 8:08 pm
  • Cristiano Felicio grabs 12 rebounds off bench
Cristiano Felicio posted eight points, 12 rebounds, two blocks, one steal and one assist in 30 minutes off Chicago's bench during Monday's overtime defeat.

Advice: The second-year big man has seen his minutes steadily rise during the preseason, and tonight's total was a high-water mark. The Bulls have plenty of competition at PF but Felicio is the most obvious backup C behind Robin Lopez, which at least puts him on the radar in very deep leagues. Monday, 8:06 pm
  • Hill, Exum, Johnson, Diaw and Gobert starting
George Hill, Dante Exum, Joe Johnson, Boris Diaw and Rudy Gobert will start vs. the Clippers on Monday.

Advice: Derrick Favors (knee) and Rodney Hood (hand) have both been ruled out in addition to Alec Burks (knee, ankle) and Gordon Hayward (finger). We should see plenty of late-round sleeper Trey Lyles on Monday as well. Monday, 5:15 pm
  • Alex Abrines (hip flexor)
Alex Abrines (hip flexor) did not practice on Monday.

Advice: He suffered the injury on Sunday, but it doesn't sound serious. Abrines has shown some solid defense to go with his shooting touch, so he could get in the rotation at times. Oct 17, 11:04 am
  • Terrence Ross (knee) targeting opening night
Terrence Ross (knee) did not practice on Monday but the Raptors are expecting him back next week.

Advice: Additionally, the Raptors believe he will be ready for opening night. Ross has been hyped quite a bit by the Raptors this summer, but his fantasy outlook is still pretty bleak -- he's going to be fighting for minutes off the bench with impressive second-year player Norman Powell. Ross is only on the radar in deeper leagues. Oct 17, 10:59 am
  • C.J. Miles (sore left knee) misses practice
C.J. Miles (sore left knee) missed practice again on Monday.

Advice: Coach Nate McMilan said that Miles is day-to-day, but he's not a lock to be ready for opening night either. If he can't go, Glenn Robinson III could be in the rotation behind Paul George after a solid preseason. Miles isn't worth monitoring outside of deeper leagues. Oct 17, 10:41 am
  • Frank Kaminsky (foot) probable for Monday
Frank Kaminsky (foot) is probable for Monday's game vs. the Bulls.

Advice: This is the first we are hearing of a foot injury, but it's a good sign that he was listed as probable. If he is ultimately held out on Monday, the team is just being cautious. Kaminsky had 17 points, four treys and two blocks in his last outing. Oct 17, 6:18 am
  • Alex Abrines exits Sunday w/ bruised hip
Thunder SG Alex Abrines didn't return to Sunday's game after bruising his right hip.

Advice: Abrines has impressed coach Billy Donovan this preseason, but he has an uphill battle to earn a spot in the rotation. Consider him day-to-day. Oct 16, 6:40 pm
  • Brown: Sergio tried to run too many plays
Brett Brown said that Sergio Rodriguez was running too many plays vs. the Pistons on Saturday instead of just going out there and playing.

Advice: "He's elusive in open court," Brown said. "He's got a feel. He's slippery with his handle and his vision. So I want him to play more like he's always played." Rodriguez got the start at PG, but struggled with three points on 1-for-5 shooting with seven dimes, one rebound, one steal, and three turnovers. Jerryd Bayless (wrist) could be looking at an extended absence, so Rodriguez could be sneaky pickup in deeper leagues for owners targeting assists. Oct 16, 10:13 am
  • C.J. Miles (left knee) not a lock for opener
C.J. Miles (sore left knee) is not a lock to be ready by opening night.

Advice: Although he's labeled as day-to-day, nobody seems to really know when Miles will be able to get back onto the court. "He's being reevaluated as far as where he's at and being able to get on the floor," said head coach Nate McMillan. As a result, Glen Robinson III has been given a new opportunity and could be in line to begin the year in the rotation. When discussing Miles, McMillan confirmed that "Glenn has taken that spot." Oct 15, 2:10 pm
  • Lucas Nogueira battling for backup C spot
Lucas Nogueira is locked in a competition with Jakob Poeltl for the backup center position.

Advice: While neither Poeltl nor Nogueira has done much to separate himself as the lead dog behind Jonas Valanciunas, "Bebe" seems to be slightly ahead in the competition. "That’s been his challenge, to take this craft seriously," Dwane Casey said when asked if he sees a more mature Nogueira. "It’s his job. Don’t come back looking the same every year. Bring something new back. Work on something in the summer time whether it’s your body or your shooting or your shot-blocking ability, whatever it is. I’ve seen more of a serious approach from Lucas. But consistency is important. We can talk about it. I want to see the consistency from Lucas. He’s done it this whole camp. We’ve got three or four months to go. He has to continue that approach." Oct 15, 12:59 pm
  • Tony Allen is still out
Tony Allen (knee) will not play against the Rockets on Saturday.

Advice: The Grizzlies are likely going to hold him out for a little while longer. Given his injury history, there's little reason to draft The Grindfather almost anywhere. Oct 14, 3:37 pm
  • T-Ross out again on Friday
Terrence Ross (knee) will not play on Friday.

Advice: He tweaked his knee on a 360-degree jam in practice earlier this week. The good news is that the MRI came back clean, so he should be ready for the regular season. Oct 14, 2:56 pm
  • Sergio Rodriguez to start at PG Saturday
Sergio Rodriguez will start at point guard on Saturday vs. the Pistons.

Advice: T.J. McConnell will move to the bench. Jerryd Bayless (wrist) has no timetable to return and his injury could be serious, so the 76ers want to see how Rodriguez looks in the first unit. Through five preseason games he's averaging 5.6 points, 5.6 assists, 2.2 rebounds, 1.0 3-pointer, 1.0 steal and 3.0 turnovers per game. Oct 14, 10:38 am
  • Denzel Valentine (ankle) plays 2-on-2 Friday
Denzel Valentine (ankle) participated in 2-on-2 on Friday.

Advice: It sounds like he won't play on Friday vs. the Cavaliers, but he is making progress. Jimmy Butler (rest) will not play as well, meaning Isaiah Canaan should get some decent burn off the bench. Oct 14, 9:38 am
  • C.J. Miles, Aaron Brooks ruled out Friday
C.J. Miles (sore left knee) and Aaron Brooks (sore right knee) will not play vs. the Magic on Friday.

Advice: Miles was listed as doubtful, so the Pacers will hold him out as expected. It doesn't sound serious, so he should be ready for the opener in a couple weeks. Miles averaged 11.8 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.8 steals, 0.5 blocks and 2.2 3-pointers on 41 percent shooting last season, but he will have a tough time matching those numbers on a revamped Pacers roster. Oct 14, 8:25 am
  • Alex Abrines has best NBA game
Alex Abrines scored 19 points with two rebounds, one steal and five 3-pointers in 34 minutes on Thursday.

Advice: He is really impressing coach Billy Donovan with his defense and he's coming around as a more complete scorer. He didn't have any 3-pointers in his previous two games and only had three two-point makes in his three preseason games. Abrines doesn't have much fantasy value. Oct 13, 8:52 pm
  • Terrence Ross out for Thursday
Terrence Ross (knee) will not play against the Cavs on Thursday.

Advice: He tweaked his knee on a 360 jam, but the MRI came back clean. Chances are he will be missing time with this, but there is no timetable just yet. Ross is having himself a nice preseason, averaging 13.0 points per game. He's still going to be behind DeMarre Carroll during the season, though. With him out, there should be more minutes for Norman Powell. Oct 13, 4:07 pm
  • J.J. Barea will be rested Friday vs. Phoenix
J.J. Barea (rest) will not suit up for Friday's exhibition game against the Suns.

Advice: Barea isn't the most durable guy, so it makes sense to give him an off-day during the preseason. He's not going to have any standard league value while Deron Williams is healthy. Oct 13, 2:04 pm
  • C.J. Miles (knee) doubtful Friday vs. Orlando
C.J. Miles (left knee) sat out Thursday's practice and is doubtful to suit up for Friday's preseason game against the Magic.

Advice: Miles isn't dealing with anything more than a sore knee, so he should be good to go when the regular season tips. However, his fantasy value is going to be nearly non-existent this season. Oct 13, 11:23 am
