Welcome to the 2013-2014 edition of Laettner's League of Douchebags! And a special welcome to our new managers who have joined this year. We're at 13 teams right now and obviously need one more to give us an even 14. If you know of anyone who would be interested in joining, send me their email address (you can email me at all_natur_al@yahoo.com) and I'll send them an invite. I have a few different last-minute backup plans, in case we cannot find one more manager.
The live online draft is scheduled for this upcoming Monday, October 28 at 9 PM Eastern. This date and time is set in stone since the season begins the next day, so if you know you will not be able to make it, please set your pre-rankings prior to the draft (this can be accessed on your team home page).
For those who are new to the league (and a refresher for the league veterans) the scoring is weekly head-to-head matchups where you go against another team in 9 statistical categories. You are awarded 1 point if you defeat your opponent in a given stat category, and categories can be tied. Lineups are set daily, meaning you will need to adjust your lineups to insert players who are playing that day, and bench players who are not. There will be days when you have more players on your roster than active spots, and there will also be days where you have very few players playing (if at all) due to the schedule.
The nine statistical categories are:
Field Goal %
Free Throw %
3-Pointers Made
Points
Rebounds
Assists
Steals
Blocks
Turnovers (winner of this category has the least turnovers)
Each stat category win/loss counts towards your total record. For example, a typical weekly score is 5-4, and in that case you'd be awarded 5 wins and 4 losses in the standings. You are allowed 7 add/drops each week (adding one player while simultaneously dropping another counts as 1 move). Transactions are daily - tomorrow, meaning if you add a player today, they will be available on your active roster tomorrow (league veterans - note this is change back to our old system. Last year we had daily-today adds, meaning the player was available immediately). There are no limits to the number of add/drops you can make over the season, other than the 7 per week maximum. This extends into the playoffs as well. There is also no limit to the number of trades you can make each season.
Let me know if you have any questions. Best of luck this season, and see everyone at the draft on Monday night!
