Hey all,
If the calendar reads September it means the NBA season is just around the corner. More importantly, it means the 6th season of Salami & Cheese is about to start. Last season marked the end of five years of keeping two players from your previous team and this year we will be breaking in a new system with a fresh draft. No keepers this year.
By winning the championship last season, Mat has earned the right to pick first in this years keeper-less draft. As we’ll all be able to keep players next year, we’ll go back to having the 9th place team (best record not in the playoffs) getting the first pick in next year’s draft. 10thplace picks second, 11th picks third, 12th picks fourth. The rest of the draft order will be the opposite of the result of the playoffs with 8th place picking fifth and the champion picking last.
Right now the draft is set for Sunday, October 18 at 8PM. If you can’t make that date please let me know and I’ll try to find a date that works for everyone. I’ll do my best but sometimes everyone’s schedules don’t match up so I’ll have to choose a day/time that works for most.
As always, the prize amounts are $160 for 1st place, $60 for 2nd place and $20 for 3rd place. Please e-transfer your league fee of $20 to anderson-knight@hotmail.com. Please try to pay your league fee before the season starts.
If you have any questions, please let me know and I’ll do my best to clear anything up.
Best of luck to everyone, I hope you all have fun and I’ll try to make this transition as painless as possible.

The following is a quick run down of the rules of the new system. They wont take full effect until next years draft so you needn’t worry too much about them this year but here they are for your reference. It may seem like a lot but I’m sure you’ll find it much simpler once we’ve gone through a draft with the new rules in place.
Once this year’s draft is complete you’ll be able to keep any player on your roster that wasn’t picked in the first round. Keeping a player means that you are guaranteed to select that player one spot higher in the draft than they were selected the previous year. *As an example, a player selected in the fifth round this season can be kept and will automatically be selected for you in the fourth round next season. Furthermore, the player can be kept again in year 3 and will be automatically selected for you in the third round that year. A players draft value will go up one round each year that they are kept. This can continue until the player is selected with a first round pick and can no longer be kept.
Any player picked up off the waiver wire can be kept using the last pick in the following years draft. This does not include players that were drafted and dropped as any player drafted will hold their draft value until the following season.
If you acquire 2 players selected in the same round through a trade or off the waiver wire both players can be kept. *As an example, if both players were selected in the fifth round of year 1 both can be kept in year 2 by having one of those players automatically chosen for you in the fourth round of year 2 and the higher ranked of the 2 players will be selected one round higher, in this case, the third round. In this circumstance, the third round pick will already be taken so if you want to also keep the player you choose in the fourth round of year 1, you’ll have to use your next highest free pick in year 2, in this case, your second round pick. Take note that, should you be lucky enough to acquire 2 players chosen in the second round, you will only be able to keep 1 player using the following years first round pick (Unless, of course, you are able to acquire a 2nd first round pick). You can still trade picks and this will affect which players you are able to keep.
You can keep every player on your roster not picked in the first round, you can keep none of the players on your roster or anywhere in-between.
