Commish Notes

  • If there is anything else I'm missing, let me know and I will modify this note. If I think of anything else, I'll modify it as well.

It's impossible to cover all topics, so again, in case of any issues, I make the ultimate call. This has always been the policy and it seems to work well. I figure that's why y'all keep coming back!

    Good Luck,
    Commish

  • "Welcome Everyone! Most of you are returning managers and a few are new. This is the 14th year of the league.

There are a few differences from standard league settings: READ BELOW CAREFULLY

This will be an Auction Draft. Everyone has an equal opportunity to get any player.

You'll notice that there is an extra Bench spot in this league. This helps with injuries.

The WW/FA pool is done Auction Style -- not by Waiver Priority. You bid against other managers to pick someone off the WW.

In addition, every player is on the Waiver Wire every single day of the season. This means that it's not first come, first serve. Everyone gets an equal chance to pick up a player at any point in the season.

The rules will make the leagues very fair and allow the best managers to win as opposed to the managers with the most time. No more being frustrated that you are last to pickup a guy!

Double-check the settings to make sure you know what you are in for. In general, the rules are set to reward the managers with the best skill and not the most time.

    $400 x 12 teams - ($15/team) = $4,620 Total Pot

If we choose to run with 10 or 11 teams, I will adjust accordingly. I plan to have 12 teams.

What's this $15/team and where's it going? Running this high caliber of a league, recruiting managers, communicating with y'all throughout the registration period and regular season, handling the numerous questions as to rules and whether I'm legitimate, and collecting/transferring/award prize money because people pay in different ways -- all of this is time-consuming. This money is going to me, or should I say, to someone who lets me ignore her from Oct to Apr.

We will use LeagueSafe. Whatever fees LeagueSafe charges managers for adding/withdrawing money is completely separate from our entry fee/pot.

The % of pay-outs is similar to last season. These changes will make it easier to collect/transfer/award prize money and encourage full participation until the final buzzer.

    Prizes

    Reg Season 1st $2,200
    Reg Season 2nd $1,560
    Reg Season 3rd $760
    Reg Season Raffle $100
    Total Pot: $4620

If we choose to run with 10 or 11 teams, I will adjust accordingly keeping % the same. This should be known once we finalize the total number of teams.

What's this raffle about? There are 10 starting positions in this league 72 games/position giving us 720 total games played. For those managers that complete 710+ games played, I will raffle off the $100. If only 6 managers hit this target, then those managers have a random 1/6 chance to win the $100. This gives teams at the bottom a chance to recoup some of their entry fee. Most importantly, it keeps everyone playing until the end. Only those managers who don't win prize money qualify for the raffle, so the odds can be pretty decent!

If there is a tie, then the prize is divided.

Example 1: If Reg Season 1st and 2nd tie, each gets $1880
Example 2: If 2nd and 3rd tie by Winning, each gets $1160
Example 3: If 3rd and 4th tie by Winning, each gets $380

Note: There can be only 1 raffle winner. I'll do this by using a random fantasy draft order generator. I'll list only the teams that hit the target. The person who gets the last draft slot will win the raffle. What I mean is if I list 6 managers, then each gets assigned a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th pick. In this case, the person with the 6th pick gets the raffle prize. Why 6th? Just to be random.

All stats are done by Yahoo. If Yahoo screws up the stats, contact Yahoo. All results are based off the stats.

If there is any confusion or a scenario that I have not described above regarding ties, I will make the ultimate call.

In case there is any issue regarding trades, I will make the ultimate call.

Trades are processed by the Commissioner. In the past, if I didn't touch (approve/veto) the trade, Yahoo processed it on its own. The only time I have to get involved is when I have to push the Veto button. Very rarely does a trade get vetoed. I don't think we even had one last year. If a trade seems outrageous, then I'll need people to post on the message board as to why it's outrageous. I'll also need posts from the teams trading to support why the trade helps their team. There is no ""Vote against the trade"" button as trades are not processed via ""League Votes"". Use the message board. I will need [(# of Teams - 2) / 2 vetoes/posts to consider vetoing the deal. For example, if there are 12 teams, I will need (12-2)/2 = 5 vetoes/posts.

Even at the end of the season, everyone needs to keep playing their players. Just because you are out of it doesn't mean you don't affect the upper level standings. I don't invite back teams who quit setting lineups.

See next note for the remainder of the Commish Note. Running out of space here.
