I Ask 3 Things

Activity-DOB works because we are a series of free leagues that require activity. A lot of owners resort to paid leagues because people who pay in to a league have a financial stake. Those are fine and all but the reason people join DOB leagues is they get their cake and eat it, too. Basically, in order to be in an active free league I have to play hall monitor and enforce activity expectations. When you join a DOB league you are accepting a share of responsibility of that league not sucking. Every dead team makes the league a little less worth being interesting to be in. So, the league asks (not just me) that you take that seriously. DOB leagues are leagues that if you are in 11th place near the end of the season you are committed to arriving at 9th. What this does is respect the integrity of the competitive advantage of the league. It is asked you do this even if it is as a favor to your fellow owners. At any time life happens to the point where you can not fulfill this expectation to the level you would like if you could, merely message me privately and assist in supplying a replacement. Any owner who does this in the interest of the competitive integrity of the league will be welcomed back should their schedule free up.

Don't settle for Yahoo default team names/logos-Please own your team with your team name and logo. Make your team name something creative that demarks your team and your passion for basketball. Logos are easy to find with any google search. You can even crop them using Paint and make them your own. However, a league full of those with original team names and logos is a lot more engaging for everyone because suddenly you are in a league where everyone cares about their team.

Participation-Culture is critical to any fantasy league. We have all been in leagues without it and have compared how much more fun it is when relationships form between owners. You don't have to yap all the time but become involved in the culture of your fellow owners. Talk smack in the double bubble chat window (top right on league page) or follow the Twitter page and share articles. You can use the message board or just use the managers page to email fellow managers. Not everyone is a big talker ( this is fine ) however anything you do to contribute to the culture of the league is just going to make the league more fun for you and everyone else.
