League Rules:
You own your franchise, and must start with 8 players from that franchise.
You can trade in your franchise each year, in order from bottom of standings to top.
The draft order is then set by your franchise's NBA win % for the last 3 years.
We then have a 8 round draft, with players available from the unowned franchises.
After this point, during the season, there are no rules that you can't go more or less than 8 of either set of players.
If a player that starts the year on your franchise gets traded, you retain his rights, if you so choose. At the end of that year, naturally, you lose his rights, if you keep that franchise. If you cut that player, the new team gets his rights from that point on. Or, you can work a trade with the new player's franchise.
Otherwise, there is no time a franchise can own another franchise's players. So, no trading of your franchise players. Trading of your additional 8 players is allowed.
