Commish Notes

  • Welcome back Silver Screen and Rollers. It's almost time for fantasy basketball again as training camps are just a few weeks away. Almost everybody has returned for this year. We have 3 new managers this year: albert.55, keithsweatshirt & BaldBilly. Welcome to the league guys. . League activity will continue to occur at SSR via weekly fanposts.

I've already made a few changes to the settings of the league:

    1. Rosters have decreased by 1. You will have 2 starting guards, 2 starting forwards, a center & a 6th man (utility), accompanied by 3 bench players. This is one less player per team. I thought this would create more action on the waiver wire, as better players would be available.

    2. The waiver wire pickup days were changed from Monday & Thursday (2 times a week), to Monday, Wednesday & Friday (3 times a week). I thought this would also create more action on the waiver wire.

    3. League trades will now be vetoed by the commissioner. Since I can still have biased eye, I wont even be handling this per say. I have a really good friend who I have been playing fantasy sports with for about 10 years now. I will send him the proposed trade (not telling him anything about the 2 teams involved), and he will decide whether the trade is fair or not. If anybody has an issue with this, please bring it up.

    4. The trade deadline was changed from March 5th to March 19th. That gives you an extra 2 weeks for trades, and the trade deadline ends at the end of the fantasy regular season.

    5. Max acquisitions per week changed from 5 to 3. This wasn't really an issue last year, but it could possibly become one with the extra waiver wire period added each week.

    6. Waiver wire cash handouts are going to be decreased. Not by a lot, but an adjustment is needed as half the league finished with over $100 last year and some even were over $200. The waiver wire budget is listed in the league notes.

    7. Even though I entertained the idea of an auction draft in The Bar, the draft will continue to be a snake draft, as this is the only way we can have pre-draft trades. And this has been a big part of our league for the past 2 seasons.

    8. Division names have been renamed after last years division winner.

    9. This will not be a keeper league. I think that will take away from the draft lottery, as whoever wins that wont be guaranteed the best player. And it could create stacked teams in the future.

    10. Draft time is set for Sunday, October 19 @ 8pm PST.

    11. Rivals have been listed in the weekly fan post.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please bring it up.
