KEEPER RULES
Each team may keep up to three players from the previous season.
The amount of keepers on a team affects the draft round inflation. If a team keeps one player, he will be kept one round earlier than he was drafted the previous year. If two players are kept, both will need to be kept at two rounds earlier than the previous year. If three players are kept, all will be kept at three rounds earlier than they were the previous year.
For example, Player A, previously drafted in the 4th round, and Player B, drafted in the 9th round, are being kept. This year, they will be kept in the 2nd and 7th rounds, respectively.
If the draft pick that would be occupied by a keeper is traded away, the player must be kept at the next available higher draft pick.
For example, Team A trades their 2nd round pick, so they cannot keep Player C in the 2nd round. He must occupy a 1st round pick.
If a player is picked up off waivers/free agency, he can be kept in the last, second-to-last, or third-to-last round, depending on how many players are kept by his team.
If two kept players would occupy the same draft round keeper spot, one must move to the next highest available round. For example. Team B picks up Player D and Player E off free agency. He wants to keep both. Player D would slot into the 9th round, while Player E would have to move up to the 8th round.
Once a player does not have any more room to move up in the draft rounds, he is no longer eligible to be kept.
For example, Player F was a first round pick last year, so he cannot be kept again.
