Anti-Tanking Rules:
This is a copy/paste from our rules that we've adopted the last 3 seasons to prevent teams from purposely not setting lineups in a bid to finish lower in the standings to improve draft position for next year.
Tanking skews the points of categories in Roto for those looking to finish in the money, and of course impacts next season's draft order significantly.
So all teams must play at least 95% of the maximum # of games which is 969 games of 1020. Or an average of 80.75 games per position of the 85.
If your team has several key injuries, and you just miss the 95%, then we can review and give you a pass. But if you're holding injured players who are barely rosterable, then we won't make an exception.
What happens if team fails to play 969 games?
- Your team goes into a mini-lottery with the 2 teams above you on the standings.
- You will be given 45% chance of staying put.
- The team 1 rung higher will get 33% chance at moving up to your spot.
- Team 2 rungs higher will get 22% chance at moving up to your spot.
- If tanking team keeps their pick, then the other two teams will stay in the same order as the standings, regardless of the order drawn in the lottery.
For the lottery, we enter 100 team names (45/33/22) into https://www.random.org/lists/ and that spits out an order that determines if your team drops down or not.
If you start streaming (adding/dropping) players who play minimal minutes just to reach the minimum cap, or anything else like benching your star players, then we can put it to a vote to enforce the lottery.
If multiple teams fail to play the 969 games, then we run the mini-lottery for each occurrence, starting with the highest ranking team, working the way down to the bottom. Those teams that fail to play the 969 games are excluded from any other mini-lottery that takes place. Also the 3 teams that participate in each lottery is determined prior to any lottery taking place so as to prevent a team somehow jumping from 6th pick to 1st pick due to luck of multiple lotteries.
Keeper Rules:
- Keep 5 players each year, typically locked in a week before draft.
- Player can only be kept 4 seasons after the season they were drafted. So 5 seasons total before they must go back into draft pool.
- Keeper term is only reset once player gets drafted again. Trading or dropping a player to waivers does NOT reset keeper term. Keeper Tracker (updated 11/1/18): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/134VFSgQhMocpRTtwfw5H1oDvCO-Jkz-pKDj8QU7A9ag/
