      Quinones will become an unrestricted free agent after the Warriors declined Friday to extend him a $2.29 million qualifying offer, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.

      Advice: Quinones had spent the better part of the last two seasons as a two-way player for the Warriors, but Golden State upgraded him to a one-year, standard NBA contract in February. While Quinones was eligible to compete in the postseason as a result of the adjustment to his contract, it put him in line for a bump in pay in 2024-25, and the Warriors apparently weren't willing to keep him around on a $2.29 million salary. Quinones averaged only 4.4 points, 1.9 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 0.9 three-pointers in 10.6 minutes per game while shooting just 39.7 percent from the field over his 37 appearances for Golden State in 2023-24, but he was a top-notch performer at the G League level the past two seasons and demonstrated impressive positional versatility. Golden State could still look to bring him back on another two-way deal or on a non-guaranteed contract, but Quinones will first canvas the open market and see if he can find a better opportunity elsewhere.       The Nuggets are declining to extend Gillespie (knee) a $1.87 million qualifying offer prior to Saturday's deadline, making him an unrestricted free agent, Vinny Benedetto of The Denver Gazette reports.

      Advice: Along with Gillespie, the Nuggets also opted not to extend a qualifying offer to fellow two-way player Braxton Key, opening up a pair of two-way slots for undrafted rookies Trey Alexander and PJ Hall. Gillespie had served as a two-way player for the Nuggets for each of the past two seasons, though he didn't appear in the NBA or in the G League during his first professional campaign in 2022-23 while he recovered from surgery to repair a fractured right leg. Gillespie proceeded to make 24 appearances for the Nuggets in 2023-24, averaging 3.6 points, 1.1 assists and 0.9 rebounds in 9.4 minutes per contest. He missed the Nuggets' final game of the regular season due to a left knee sprain and then was ineligible for Denver's postseason run because of his status as a two-way player, but the expectation is that Gillespie will be back to full health for the start of NBA training camps in the fall.       Russell said Friday that he will exercise his $18.69 million player option for 2024-25 to remain with the Lakers, Dave McMenamin of ESPN.com reports.

      Advice: Though Russell disappointed in the Lakers' five-game first-round playoff series loss to the Nuggets, he delivered a strong 2023-24 season overall, fueled by a strong close to the campaign once he moved back into a starting role in mid-January. In 76 appearances for the Lakers, Russell averaged 18.0 points on 45.6 percent shooting from the field, 6.3 assists, 3.1 rebounds, 3.0 three-pointers and 0.9 steals in 32.7 minutes. Though Russell once again projects to slot in as the Lakers' starting point guard under first-year head coach J.J.       D’Angelo Russell has decided to pick up his player option for the 2024-25 season.

      Advice: Despite being the subject of trade speculation last season, Russell has decided to remain with the Lakers for the final season of his current contract. And the 2023-24 season was a good one for him fantasy-wise, as the point guard provided 6th-round per-game value in 9-cat formats. The hope is that the partnership with new head coach JJ Redick will help Russell take his game to another level playing alongside LeBron James (who also has a player option) and Anthony Davis. “I love what JJ is about, and I really see myself thriving under his guidance to help win at a high level,” Russell told ESPN. While Russell provided middle-round fantasy value last season, look for him to go a little later in standard league drafts, as playing alongside LeBron and AD limits his fantasy ceiling.     • Mutual interest between Klay Thompson, Dallas
      There is “strong mutual interest” between Klay Thompson and the Mavericks, per Marc Stein.

      Advice: There have been multiple reports that talks between Klay and the Warriors haven’t been going well, and there have also been reports that Dallas is interested in Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. Both players would bring championship pedigree and deep range shooting, so it isn’t surprising that Klay is being linked to Dallas.       The Pistons will not pick up Evan Fournier’s $19 million team option.

      Advice: Fournier was completely out of the rotation with the Knicks last season, but he ended up playing a decent-sized role for Detroit after the trade deadline. However, there was no chance that they were going to pay him $19 million next season. He’ll have a chance to start fresh, but it’s unlikely that he is relevant in fantasy hoops next season.       The Pistons declined Fournier's $19 million team option Friday, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports.

      Advice: The move was fully anticipated, as Fournier had fallen well short of expectations since joining the Knicks on a three-year, $54 million deal in August 2021 as part of a sign-and-trade deal with the Celtics. The veteran wing was outside of the New York rotation before being dealt to Detroit prior to the deadline. He then averaged 7.2 points, 1.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.1 triples across 18.7 minutes in 29 games with the team.       Advice: Richardson didn’t play the final few months of last season after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder in early March, but he is expected to make a full recovery before next season begins. He played a reserve role before the injury, and he should once again play a decent-sized role off the bench next year, but he isn’t a player that will make much of a fantasy impact.       Advice: A shoulder injury in February led to a premature ending to Richardson's 2023-24 season, but he was a rotational player prior to the injury. Overall, he averaged 9.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.5 triples and 0.6 steals across 25.7 minutes in 43 games.
