Plus-Minus
Definition
Used to measure a player's impact on the game, represented by the difference between their team's total scoring versus their opponent's when the player is in the game
Why does this stat matter for fantasy?
Plus-minus can be an indicator of potential playing time for bench players. A high plus-minus is suggestive of a player who helps his team win when he is on the fllor even if he does not put up great individual stats. If you are looking for players who could be in line for increased playing time, plus-minus can be used as one data point to decide if you should add them.
AR

Assist Rate
Definition
Estimate of percentage of teammate field goals a player assisted while he was on the floor
Why does this stat matter for fantasy?
This is a great stat when scouting back-up point guards who may be in line for increased playing time. A player with a high assist rate is likely to produce a lot of assists with more minutes.

Defensive Rating
Definition
Defensive rating measures how many points the player allowed per 100 possessions he individually faced while on the court.
Why does this stat matter for fantasy?
Modestly useful for fantasy purposes, defensive rating provides the overall defensive impact of a player without any attribution to specific defensive stats. Players who tip balls, alter shots without blocking them can have a high defensive rating without producing valuable fantasy stats like steals and blocks.
eFG%

Effective Shooting Percentage
Definition
Effective Shooting Percentage (eFG%) measures field goal percentage adjusting for the fact that a 3-point field goal is worth one more point than a 2-point field goal.
The formula is eFG% = ((FGM + (0.5 * 3PM)) / FGA.

Field Goals At-Rim
Definition
The total number of shots attempted less than or equal to five feet from the rim
Why does this stat matter for fantasy?
Taken together, field goals-at-rim and field foals-mid-range are good stats to measure scoring for players who shoot threes infrequently. PLayers who shoot more shots at the rim are less likely to become players who move outside the 3-point line. This is important when looking for big men who may add three-pointer to their arsenal. For these players, look for power forwards and centers who shoot a high volume of mid-range field goals with a solid overall field goal percentage.
FTR
-
Free Throw Rate
Definition
Measures Free Throws per field goal attempt
Why does this stat matter for fantasy?
Free throw rate is valuable when you are looking for players who consistently get to the free line. Players who go to the free throw line often will have less variation game-to-game in their scoring than players who rely more heavily on field goals. This stat is more useful for head-to-head leagues and daily fantasy than it is for rotisserie or points-only leagues.

PER
-
Player Efficiency Rating
Definition
An overall measure of a player's contributions expressed as a single number
Why does this stat matter for fantasy?
PER is most useful for fantasy basketball when projecting the value of bench players, who could be poised to get more minutes. Players with a better PER are more likely to produce well if their minutes increase. Typically, players with the highest PER are stars, so it is less useful when analyzing top players.
Pos

Possessions
Definition
The total number of possessions by a team when a player is in the game.
Why does this stat matter for fantasy?
This number shows how many times a teams has the ball when a player is on the floor. Possession = offensive opportunities. The more possessions a player has the more opportunites for points (three-pointers, free throws, field goals), assists and offensive rebounds.

TS%

True Shooting Percentage
Definition
True Shooting Percentage (TS%) is intended to more accurately calculate a player's shooting than field goal percentage, free throw percentage, and three-point field goal percentage ndividually.
The formula is TS% = PTS / 2(FGA+(0.44*FTA)) * 100
Why does this stat matter for fantasy?
TS% is a good to for helping fantasy basketball players determine when a player's shooting is truly harmful to their teams.

Usage Percentage
Definition
Estimate of the percentage of team plays used by a player while he was on the floor
Why does this stat matter for fantasy?
This stat can be helpful to identify potential fantasy stars who don't see a lot of playing time. If a player sees the ball often when he is on the floor, it is possible he will see the ball often with more minutes. Players with low minutes but who are high in usage percenage in addition to effective field goal percentage and true shooting percentage (i.e. they score efficiently) are great sleeper candidates.
