The Pistons are not expected to guarantee Brown's $4 million salary by Sunday for the 2024-25 season, and the team is expected to waive him, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Brown has been on five teams in the last four years, and he will hope to find a new home in free agency this offseason. The 24-year-old was acquired by the Pistons via trade on Feb. 7, and he averaged 4.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 0.7 steals across 19.0 minutes in 22 regular-season games. • Hawks exercise team option
The Hawks have exercised the $2.23 million team option for Mathews on Saturday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.

Advice: Mathews had a solid season in his first full year with the Hawks. The 27-year-old averaged 4.9 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.6 assists across 15.0 minutes in 66 regular-season games. This included an uptick in playing time for the sharpshooter post All-Star break, during which he averaged 6.9 points in 18.5 minutes. Mathews also shot a career-high 44.0 percent from three last season, earning him more recognition as a valuable role player. Rotowire.com 34 minutes ago
    • Report: ATL exercise Garrison Mathews team option
According to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto, the Hawks have picked up Garrison Mathews’ option for the 2024-25 season.

Advice: After shooting a career-high 44.0% from three last season, Mathews’ option has been picked up by the Hawks. While Atlanta has added Zaccharie Risacher (draft) and Dyson Daniels (reported trade) this week, Mathews’ 3-point shooting ability will allow him to earn rotation minutes next season. However, he only played 15.0 minutes per game last season, so fantasy managers should not consider him a “must-draft” player in most leagues. Rotoworld 36 minutes ago
    • Expected to return to Suns
O'Neale is expected to sign a four-year, $44 million deal to return to the Suns when free agency officially opens July 6, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

Advice: The Suns acquired O'Neale on Feb. 8, and he averaged 8.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 0.9 steals across 25.0 minutes in 30 regular-season games for the team. The 31-year-old also shot an efficient 37.6 percent from deep in that span, and is expected to play an important role in the Suns' title aspirations. Rotowire.com 43 minutes ago
    • Woj: Royce O’Neale to sign 4-year deal with Suns
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Royce O’Neale intends to sign a four-year, $44 million deal to remain with the Suns.

Advice: With it being reported in mid-June that the Suns intended to re-sign O’Neale, Saturday’s news is unsurprising. Acquired from the Nets at the February deadline, the versatile wing averaged 8.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 0.9 steals, and 2.0 3-pointers in 25.1 minutes with the Suns. O’Neale provided 12th-round per-game value in 9-cat formats from the trade deadline onward. Whether he starts or comes off the bench, Royce will merit consideration as a late-round pick in standard leagues. Rotoworld 48 minutes ago
    • Woj: ATL will not issue qual. offer to Saddiq Bey
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Hawks will not issue a qualifying offer to Saddiq Bey, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Advice: Bey’s qualifying offer was worth $8 million, so the Hawks declining it is unsurprising given the current circumstances. Bey suffered a torn ACL in March and is facing a lengthy rehabilitation period. He’ll be an unrestricted free agent on June 30, and while a return to Atlanta is not off the table, the chances have decreased. Atlanta selected Zaccharie Risacher with the first overall pick and acquired Dyson Daniels in the trade that sent Dejounte Murray to New Orleans. Rotoworld Today, 9:58 am
    • Will become a free agent
The Hawks are not expected to deliver a qualifying offer to Bey (knee), and he will become an unrestricted free agent, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

Advice: Bey tore his ACL on March 10 against the Pelicans, cutting what could potentially be his final season with the Hawks short. The 25-year-old appeared in 63 regular-season games for the team last season, during which he averaged 13.7 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 0.8 steals across 32.7 minutes. While he will not be ready for the start of the 2024-25 season, Bey will likely garner interest around the league as he looks to return for the latter part of the season. Rotowire.com Today, 9:58 am
    • Shams: LeBron James intends to opt out of contract
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, LeBron James intends to opt out of the final year of his contract and become an unrestricted free agent.

Advice: This news is unsurprising, even with the Lakers selecting LeBron’s son Bronny with the 55th overall pick in the NBA Draft. While James was due to make $51.4 million next season, this allows him to negotiate a new deal with the Lakers. Look for LeBron to remain in Los Angeles and play for new Lakers head coach JJ Redick next season. Rotoworld Today, 9:17 am
    • Expected to enter free agency
James is expected to opt out of his $51.4 million player option Saturday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

Advice: James intends to opt out of his player option to sign a new deal with the Lakers. Now that the team drafted his son, Bronny James, the expectation is that the 39-year-old returns on a new deal next season that would likely include a no-trade clause. The four-time NBA Champion averaged 25.7 points, 8.3 assists, 7.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals while shooting a career-high 41.0 percent from deep last season. Rotowire.com Today, 9:17 am
