    • Remaining in Miami
Love agreed Sunday with the Heat on a two-year deal worth over $8 million, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

Advice: On Saturday, Love declined his $4.03 million player option for the 2024-25 season, but he'll remain with Miami after quickly coming to terms on a two-year deal. The 35-year-old made 55 regular-season appearances for Miami in 2023-24, averaging 8.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 16.8 minutes per game. He'll look to fend off rookie first-round pick Kel'el Ware for the primary backup role behind starting center Bam Adebayo. Rotowire.com Today, 3:07 pm
    • Shams: Heat, Kevin Love agree to two-year contract
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Kevin Love and the Heat are finalizing a two-year, $8 million deal.

Advice: Love opted out of the final season of his contract on Saturday, but the expectation was that he and the Heat would agree to a new deal. That has reportedly happened, with the veteran center in line to provide additional frontcourt depth. Miami did select Kel’El Ware with the No. 15 pick in last week’s draft, but retaining love will help with the rookie’s development behind All-Star Bam Adebayo. Rotoworld Today, 3:05 pm
    • Shams: LeBron James intends to opt out of contract
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, LeBron James intends to opt out of the final year of his contract and become an unrestricted free agent.

Advice: This news is unsurprising, even with the Lakers selecting LeBron’s son Bronny with the 55th overall pick in the NBA Draft. While James was due to make $51.4 million next season, this allows him to negotiate a new deal with the Lakers. Look for LeBron to remain in Los Angeles and play for new Lakers head coach JJ Redick next season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:17 am
    • Declines option, should stay in L.A.
James declined his $51.4 million player option for the 2024-25 season Saturday and will become an unrestricted free agent, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Though he'll technically hit the open market, James is fully expected to re-sign with the Lakers on a new deal, especially after the club recently drafted his son, Bronny James, and hired his podcast partner, JJ Redick, as head coach. The terms of the 39-year-old James' upcoming deal with the Lakers aren't yet fully known, but it will likely include a no-trade clause. The four-time NBA champion defied the aging curve once again in 2023-24, appearing in 71 games -- his most since the 2017-18 season -- and averaged 25.7 points, 8.3 assists, 7.3 rebounds, 2.1 three-pointers and 1.3 steals while shooting a career-best 41 percent from downtown last season. • Woj: Kevin Love to decline player option
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Kevin Love is declining his player option for the 2024-25 season.

Advice: Had he opted into the final season of his contract, Love would have made approximately $4 million in 2024-25. He’ll become an unrestricted free agent, but Wojnarowski also reported that Love and the Heat are “enthusiastic” about being able to work out a deal. Love will likely have limited fantasy value if he returns to Miami, as the Heat have Bam Adebayo as their starting center and selected Indiana’s Kel’El Ware with the 15th overall pick in Wednesday’s NBA Draft. • Testing free agency
Love declined his $4.03 million player option for the 2024-25 season Saturday and will become an unrestricted free agent, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

Advice: Though Love will hit the open market, he and the Heat are optimistic about negotiating a new deal in the opening days of free agency. The veteran big man has carved out a nice role off the bench in Miami, where he has been productive in relatively short-minute stints. Overall, Love averaged 8.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.5 triples across 16.8 minutes in 55 appearances in 2023-24. If Love does in fact re-sign with Miami, he'll face a new challenger for the top backup role behind starting center Bam Adebayo, as the Heat used its first-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft on Indiana big man Kel'el Ware. • Redick wants LeBron James to take more 3-pointers
During his introductory press conference, Lakers coach JJ Redick said he wants LeBron James to attempt more 3-pointers next season.

Advice: The Redick era in Los Angeles is underway, with the former NBA guard having his introductory press conference on Monday. One of the interesting tidbits was Redick stating a desire for James to take more 3-pointers next season. He shot a career-best 41.0% from deep in 2023-24, and the average of 5.1 attempts per game was LeBron’s lowest since the 2017-18 season as a member of the Cavaliers (5.0). He’ll clearly be a focal point for what Redick looks to do offensively...provided LeBron returns, regardless of what he decides with his player option. Rotoworld Monday, 2:07 pm
