    • Becomes unrestricted free agent
The Celtics declined Queta's $2.2 million team option for the 2024-25 season Saturday, Brian Robb of MassLive.com reports.

Advice: According to Robb, the the Celtics are still hopeful to retain Queta, though the club will face more challengers for his services now that he's an unrestricted free agent. Queta spent most of the 2023-24 season as a two-way player before he was upgraded to a standard NBA deal shortly before the playoffs. He appeared in 28 regular-season contests and averaged 5.5 points and 4.4 rebounds in 11.9 minutes per contest. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:51 pm
    • Woj: Kevin Love to decline player option
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Kevin Love is declining his player option for the 2024-25 season.

Advice: Had he opted into the final season of his contract, Love would have made approximately $4 million in 2024-25. He’ll become an unrestricted free agent, but Wojnarowski also reported that Love and the Heat are “enthusiastic” about being able to work out a deal. Love will likely have limited fantasy value if he returns to Miami, as the Heat have Bam Adebayo as their starting center and selected Indiana’s Kel’El Ware with the 15th overall pick in Wednesday’s NBA Draft. • Testing free agency
Love declined his $4.03 million player option for the 2024-25 season Saturday and will become an unrestricted free agent, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

Advice: Though Love will hit the open market, he and the Heat are optimistic about negotiating a new deal in the opening days of free agency. The veteran big man has carved out a nice role off the bench in Miami, where he has been productive in relatively short-minute stints. Overall, Love averaged 8.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.5 triples across 16.8 minutes in 55 appearances in 2023-24. If Love does in fact re-sign with Miami, he'll face a new challenger for the top backup role behind starting center Bam Adebayo, as the Heat used its first-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft on Indiana big man Kel'el Ware. • Gets qualifying offer
The Lakers tendered a qualifying offer to Christie on Saturday, making him a restricted free agent, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.

Advice: By extending Christie a qualifying offer, the Lakers will have the ability to match any offer the 21-year-old guard might receive from another team in free agency. The 21-year-old appeared in 67 regular-season games in his second NBA campaign in 2023-24, averaging 4.2 points, 2.1 rebounds and 0.9 assists across 14.1 minutes per game. • Eric Gordon to decline PO, set to hit FA
Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that Eric Gordon will decline his $3.4 million player option for the 2024-25 season and become a free agent.

Advice: Gordon will turn 36 this season, but the veteran can still be a valuable part of a contending team thanks to his long-range shooting. Gordon averaged 11.0 points and knocked down 37.8% of his three-point attempts last season with Phoenix. Rotoworld Thursday, 12:07 pm
    • Declines player option
Gordon declined his $3.4 million player option for the 2024-25 season Thursday and will become a free agent, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Gordon's output has declined over the past few seasons, but he shot 37.8 percent from beyond the arc during the 2023-24 campaign during his first year with the Suns. Over 68 regular-season appearances with Phoenix, he averaged 11.0 points and 2.0 assists in 27.8 minutes per game. He's expected to draw interest from multiple contenders as a free agent, so he could carve out another decent role next year, especially if he maintains his three-point efficiency. • Mavs see keeping Derrick Jones Jr. as a ‘priority’
Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison said on Friday that re-signing Derrick Jones Jr. this summer is a priority for the franchise.

Advice: Jones was a fixture in the starting lineup throughout Dallas’ run to the NBA Finals. While his production did not make him a great option in most fantasy leagues, he fits nicely into Jason Kidd’s rotation alongside star guards Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. Dallas’s issue is that they don’t have much room financially heading into free agency, but that does not impact their view on Jones and his importance to the team. “I don’t know how we’re going to do it,” Harrison said of re-signing Jones. “But he’s priority 1-A (and) 1-B. I think he fits in with our team. He loves it here. We have to figure out the dynamics to get him to stay. But yeah, that’s a priority. We’ll do what we have to do to get it done.” “Airplane Mode” should make considerably more than the $2 million he did this season, whether in Dallas or elsewhere. Rotoworld Friday, 5:32 pm
