    Advice: Marshall has spent all four years of his career with the Pelicans, but he will now be joining the Mavericks, who look to gear up for another deep run. The 26-year-old pro averaged 7.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 19.0 minutes per game across 66 appearances last season.     According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Mavericks and Naji Marshall have agreed to a three-year, $27 million deal.

    Advice: A solid bench contributor for the Pelicans during his four seasons in New Orleans, Marshall is headed to Dallas for the next step in his career. Appearing in 66 games last season, he averaged 7.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.9 3-pointers in 19.0 minutes. Marshall’s signing calls into question the future of Derrick Jones Jr., who is also a free agent. Jones was a consistent starter for the Western Conference champions, and his exit would free up additional minutes for Marshall.     Advice: Gordon spent the 2023-24 campaign in Phoenix and averaged 11.0 points, 2.2 three-pointers, 2.0 assists and 1.8 rebounds in 27.8 minutes per game over 68 regular-season appearances. He's converted 38.5 percent of his 5.4 three-point attempts per game over the past three seasons and should be a solid perimeter presence for his new team, but the extent of his role will likely depend on whether the 76ers land Paul George in free agency.   • Shams: Eric Gordon signs with 76ers
    The Athletic’s Shams Charania reports that Eric Gordon has agreed to a deal with the 76ers.

    Advice: The terms of the deal are not yet known, but Philly will add some needed shooting and another veteran presence.     George has informed the Clippers that he plans to sign with another team in free agency, Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN.com reports.

    Advice: George recently declined his $48.7 million player option with the Clippers, and he won't return to the team after the two sides had a meeting Sunday. The 76ers appear to be the favorites to sign the 34-year-old, but he'll presumably have offers from multiple suitors.     The Clippers and Paul George are “moving on from each other” after failing to agree to a new deal, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

    Advice: The lack of movement on a new deal prompted George to opt out of the final season of his contract and hit the market as an unrestricted free agent.     Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that Cade Cunningham will sign a five-year, $226 million rookie extension with the Pistons.

    Advice: Cunningham appeared in only 12 games in his second season due to a heel injury, but he bounced back and appeared in 62 games in 2023-24. Cunningham averaged 22.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 1.9 three-pointers, shooting 44.9% from the floor, 86.9% from the charity stripe and 35.5% from beyond the arc. Aside from the rebounds, the other numbers and the percentages were career highs for the Oklahoma State product. He missed most of the 2022-23 campaign due to a left shin injury, but he bounced back in 2023-24, averaging 22.7 points, 7.5 assists and 4.3 rebounds in 33.5 minutes per game over 62 appearances.     Advice: Caldwell-Pope is headed to Orlando after spending the last two seasons with the Nuggets. The 31-year-old wing averaged 10.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.6 three-pointers and 1.3 steals per game in 31.6 minutes per contest over his 76 appearances while shooting 40.6 percent from three-point range. Caldwell-Pope will probably see only a modest increase in usage in Orlando even though he's no longer playing alongside three-time MVP Nikola Jokic and another premium scorer in Jamal Murray, but he should be a notable upgrade at the shooting guard spot for a Magic squad that often started Gary Harris, Caleb Houstan or Anthony Black alongside Franz Wagner on the wing last season.
