  • Expects to play in Game 3
    Suggs said after Monday's 96-86 loss to the Cavaliers that he doesn't think his sprained left knee injury will keep him from playing Thursday in Game 3 of the series, Josh Robbins of The Athletic reports.

    Advice: Suggs suffered the injury in the first quarter Monday, when he collapsed to the floor after making contact with Cleveland's Donovan Mitchell. He grabbed at his leg in visible pain after the play and didn't put any weight on his leg as he was assisted to the locker room, but he was able to return to the contest after halftime while sporting a compression sleeve on his leg. He ended up playing well down the stretch, finishing with nine points (2-5 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 5-7 FT), six rebounds, five assists and one steal in 29 minutes. Adrenaline might have played a part in Suggs feeling well enough to return, so the Magic will wait and see how his knee responds over the next two days before deciding whether he's fit to play in Game 3 with the Magic facing a 2-0 series deficit.     Maxey notched 35 points (12-22 FG, 5-11 3Pt, 6-6 FT), nine rebounds and 10 assists in 44 minutes during Monday's 104-101 loss to the Knicks in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.

    Advice: Maxey scored 15 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter and was the primary catalyst in a massive rally that erased the Knicks' lead. His three pointer with 1:09 remaining appeared to seal a Game 2 win for the Sixers, but New York's defense turned the tables in the end. Although Joel Embiid is rounding back into form, Maxey's produtcion will be essential to get the team back into the series.     Advice: A productive night at the charity stripe and decent secondary production helped to mask Brunson's dreadful shooting night. The usually prolific guard has converted only 29.1 percent of his shots in the quarterfinals, and although the Knicks have pulled off a 2-0 lead amid the slump, the team's outlook will be much better if his shooting stroke gets back on track.     D’Angelo Russell played 39 minutes in Monday’s 101-99 loss to the Nuggets, accounting for 23 points (8-of-16 FGs), three rebounds, six assists, and seven 3-pointers.

    Advice: Much was made about Russell’s poor Game 1, especially considering how poorly he played in last season’s Western Conference Finals. He appeared to have a point to prove to begin Game 2, as D’Lo hit all three of his 3-point attempts and scored nine points in the first quarter. He finished with an efficient 23, shooting 7-of-11 from beyond the arc. However, he was 2-of-6 from the field in the second half, which was a decrease in production the Lakers can’t afford, given the caliber of the opponent they’re up against.     Advice: Murray had a rough night overall but saved his best for last. He scored 14 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter, including a fadeaway over Anthony Davis’s outstretched hand as time expired to give Denver a 2-0 series lead. Murray also shot 9-of-24 from the field in Game 1 but shot 4-of-9 from three on Saturday. On Monday, he missed all five attempts from beyond the arc.     Advice: A game-time decision for Game 2 due to an illness, Maxey made his first three shots (all 3-pointers). While he did commit four turnovers, the last of which led to Donte DiVincenzo’s game-winning three with 13.1 seconds remaining, the 76ers’ point guard had a good night overall. Unfortunately for Philadelphia, the efforts of Maxey and Embiid weren’t enough on a night when no other 76ers player scored more than ten points (Tobias Harris).     Advice: The 76ers held Brunson to below 30% shooting in the first two games, yet they’re heading to Philadelphia in an 0-2 hole. The Knicks point guard has struggled with the length of Philadelphia’s wings, but he hit a huge 3-pointer to cut the Knicks’ deficit to two with 28 seconds remaining. That set the stage for a wild sequence culminating with a Donte DiVincenzo three that gave the Knicks the lead for good. Garland still led Cleveland with four 3-pointers, providing needed spacing on a night when the other four starters combined go 4-of-19 from beyond the arc.     Advice: Garland had a strong showing from deep in Cleveland's second straight victory to begin the series, connecting on a team-high mark from three while handing out a team-high-tying assist total and ending as one of four Cavaliers with 15 or more points. Garland has provided a nice boost for Cleveland through two games in the first round, posting at least 14 points, four assists and three rebounds in two straight outings.
