  • Isaiah Thomas traded to the Cavaliers
Isaiah Thomas has been traded to the Cavaliers as a part of a package for Kyrie Irving.

Advice: Thomas made it clear that he will be seeking a max deal in 2018, so that along with his hip injury may have factored into Boston's decision. The Cavaliers got quite a haul from the Celtics including Jae Crowder and Brooklyn's 2018 first-round pick which could have tremendous value. As for Thomas, he teams up with the best passer in the league in LeBron James, and while his numbers will likely trend down, his efficiency should rise. If he's a full go for training camp like he's anticipating, Thomas will still be an early-round fantasy pick in Cleveland. In case you missed it, he will have a fresh timetable after he undergoes another scan on his hip in early September. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 4:28 pm
  • Kyrie Irving traded to BOS for Isaiah Thomas
Kyrie Irving has been traded to the Celtics in exchange for Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic and Brooklyn's 2018 first-round pick.

Advice: There's no such thing as an offseason in the NBA. For the Celtics, they finally have their face of the franchise in Irving and he's under contract for the next two seasons with a player option for the third. Irving had a 41.7 usage rate when LeBron James was off the floor last season, so it's going to be exciting to see what kind of numbers he puts up as the clear alpha dog. He looks like a rock-solid pick at the start of the second round in standard drafts and you could even make an argument to take him at the end of the first. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 4:25 pm
  • Dwyane Wade's kids going to school in Florida
Dwyane Wade's children have reportedly moved back to south Florida to attend school.

Advice: Wade's kids went to school in Chicago last year, so the move back to Florida will continue to fuel rumors that Wade is seeking a buyout with the Bulls so that he could reunite with Pat Riley in Miami. The Heat do have enough cap space to make a competitive offer to Wade should he hit the open market, but the Bulls also could have the incentive to keep Wade and try and use him as a trade chip as the deadline approaches. There are also rumors out there that Wade could consider reuniting with LeBron James in Cleveland post-buyout, but as of right now, nothing seems imminent. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 12:21 pm
  • Fellow rookies believe Smith will win ROY
In a survey of incoming rookies, Dennis Smith Jr. was selected as the favorite to win the 2017-18 Rookie of the Year award.

Advice: Thirty-nine rookies took part in the survey and 25.7 percent of them tabbed Smith as the ROY front-runner. Lonzo Ball finished in second-place, with 20 percent of the vote. After slipping to ninth in the 2017 draft, Smith was dominant at the Las Vegas Summer League, averaging 17.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 2.2 steals. Assuming he plays well in the preseason, Smith will be flying up draft boards in October. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 9:10 am
  • Wesley Matthews wants to expand his game
Wesley Matthews said he expects to showcase "a more all-around skillset" to lead the Mavs back to the playoffs.

Advice: "I want to be the most complete basketball player that I can be, and with the shooting slump that I had there were still ways that I had to be effective on the court," he said. "You know, energy, leadership and defense, that’s always going to be a part of it. But being able to get other guys shots and get other guys open, I take pride in that as well." Matthews averaged 12.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.1 steals and 2.4 treys last season, but shot an abysmal 38.8 percent from the field. He's reportedly in great shape and has been incorporating yoga into his offseason program, but Matthews is only worth a look late in drafts because he hasn't looked the same since his Achilles injury back in 2015.
