      Karl-Anthony Towns accumulated 14 points (4-of-7 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), five rebounds, three assists, and four 3-pointers in 33 minutes in Friday’s Game 3 loss to the Nuggets.

      Advice: The good news for Towns is that he shot 4-of-5 from beyond the arc. The bad is that he attempted seven shots overall, which is inexcusable for an offensive talent of his caliber. Friday’s game was the first in which KAT failed to reach double figures since Game 2 of Minnesota’s first-round sweep of the Suns. While the Timberwolves could get away with that against Phoenix, the reigning champs are different.     • Leader from deep in Game 3 loss
      Towns posted 14 points (4-7 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds and three assists over 33 minutes in Friday's 117-90 loss to the Nuggets in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals.

      Advice: Towns didn't get much going offensively outside of connecting on a team-high mark from three, ending the contest as one of four players with a double-digit point total to go along with a handful of rebounds in a losing effort. Towns failed to reach the 15-point mark for just the second time this postseason, and he had scored at least 20 points in each of the first two games against Denver. Towns may have to come out in Game 4 looking for more opportunities offensively and displaying more aggressiveness if Minnesota wants to take a commanding 3-1 series advantage.     • Daniel Gafford (hand) scores 13 points Thursday
      Daniel Gafford (right hand) shot 4-of-6 from the field and 5-of-9 from the foul line in Thursday’s Game 2 win over Dallas, scoring 13 points with seven rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one blocked shot in 27 minutes.

      Advice: Despite injuring his right hand during the second quarter, Gafford played 27 minutes as the starting center and was one of five Mavericks to reach double figures. He did spend some time in the locker room before halftime, but the veteran pivot still shouldered his usual workload. There’s a quick turnaround for Game 3, which will be played on Saturday afternoon in Dallas. Should Gafford’s hand become more problematic, Dereck Lively II would take on added responsibility.       Gafford totaled 16 points (5-12 FG, 6-8 FT), 11 rebounds, one assist and five blocks across 27 minutes during Tuesday's 117-95 loss to the Thunder in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals.

      Advice: Gafford recorded a double-double in the loss, adding five blocks. It was arguably his best performance of the postseason and something the Mavericks are going to need more of should they hope to advance to the Conference Finals.       Daniel Gafford recorded a double-double on Tuesday with 16 points (5-of-12 FGs), 11 rebounds, one assist and five blocks against the Thunder.

      Advice: Gafford had a quiet first round series against the Clippers, but he was much better in the first game of this series. He recorded his first double-double of this postseason and swatted five shots, which was his highest block total in a game since March. Gafford has a better matchup in this series, and with Maxi Kleber sidelined for at least three weeks, he’ll continue to see extra minutes.       Wood exercised his $3 million player option for the 2024-25 season Tuesday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.

      Advice: Wood was a sporadic part of the rotation in Los Angeles this season, appearing in 50 games with averages of 6.9 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 17.4 minutes. There could potentially be a lot of changes for the Lakers this offseason depending on whether or not LeBron James picks up his player option, so it's difficult to project Wood's role for next season at the moment.       Towns closed with 27 points (10-15 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), 12 rebounds, one assist, two blocks and one steal across 36 minutes during Monday's 106-80 win over the Nuggets in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals.

      Advice: Towns was tasked with more responsibility on the defensive end since Rudy Gobert (personal) was unavailable for this contest. Even though he had to deal with Nikola Jokic on both ends of the court, Towns thrived and posted a great stat line. This was Towns' third double-double over his last four playoff appearances, and he's expected to return to his role at power forward in case Gobert is ready to return for Game 3 of the series, scheduled for Friday.       Advice: Minnesota needed Towns to step up with Rudy Gobert (personal reasons) away from the team, and that’s what he did. KAT tied for the team lead in points, shooting 66.7% from the field while also grabbing 12 rebounds. He’s scored 20 points or more in three straight games, and not only was foul trouble not an issue for Towns, but he and the other starters were able to watch the end of Tuesday’s rout from the bench. Gobert should be available for Friday’s Game 3, but Minnesota needs Towns to play at this level consistently. Now 6-0 this postseason, the Timberwolves look like a team that can play into June.       Advice: With Jarrett Allen (hip) sidelined, Morris got a chance in the starting unit during Game 6 but finished with just two points (1-7 FG) and eight rebounds in 27 minutes during a disappointing loss. Coach J.B. Bickerstaff has reinserted Isaac Okoro into the starting lineup in place of Morris for the decisive Game 7.
