      Jaden McDaniels shot 9-of-15 from the field in Wednesday’s Game 1 loss to Dallas, tallying 24 points, four rebounds, three assists, one steal, and six 3-pointers in 39 minutes.

      Advice: After shooting 6-of-9 from three in the final two games of Minnesota’s second-round series win over Denver, McDaniels stayed hot in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. He made six of his nine attempts from deep against the Mavericks while also leading the Timberwolves in scoring. On a night when Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns combined to score 35 points on 12-of-36 shooting, McDaniels’ performance kept Minnesota within striking distance.       Advice: McDaniels scored 20-plus points for the second straight game, helping the Timberwolves to an impressive victory in Game 7. Although his offensive output can be inconsistent, he has been a little more reliable during the postseason. Coming up against the Mavericks in the Western Conference Finals, McDaniels is going to have to maintain his offensive mindset to contend with the likes of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.       Jaden McDaniels played 39 minutes in Sunday’s 98-90 win over the Nuggets, amassing 23 points (7-of-10 FGs, 6-of-7 FTs), six rebounds, one assist, one steal, one block, and three 3-pointers.

      Advice: Minnesota won the final two games of this series after getting blown out in Game 5, and McDaniels’ improved play had much to do with the turnaround. He scored 46 points in Games 6 and 7, shooting 15-of-20 from the field. Already a highly impactful defender, McDaniels’ progression as a scorer has paid dividends for the Timberwolves.       Chet Holmgren finished Saturday’s Game 6 loss to the Mavericks with 21 points (9-of-15 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), three rebounds, one assist, two steals, and one 3-pointer in 35 minutes.

      Advice: Despite scoring 21 points, Holmgren’s final game of the season wasn’t his best. More concerning than the 1-of-7 night from three was the rebounding, with the rookie only grabbing three. By comparison, Mavericks rookie Dereck Lively II grabbed 15 by himself. Holmgren’s struggles to rebound prompted Thunder coach Mark Daigneault to go with a bigger lineup down the stretch, with Jaylin Williams (6/2/2/1/1 with one 3-pointer in 18 minutes) joining the rookie in the frontcourt. Overall, Holmgren had an excellent rookie campaign, finishing second to Victor Wembanyama in Rookie of the Year voting and providing top-20 per-game value in 9-cat formats. Based on his Yahoo ADP, Chet was expected by many to be a 4th-round player. Those days are over; he should not get out of the third round in standard league drafts, and that’s being conservative.       McDaniels notched 21 points (8-10 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, one assist, two blocks and one steal over 30 minutes during Thursday's 115-70 victory over Denver in Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals.

      Advice: McDaniels is not known for his scoring ability and often gets recognition for his defensive work. Still, he stood out when it mattered the most in this series and finished as Minnesota's second-highest scorer. McDaniels is not expected to hover around the 20-point mark regularly going forward, but this was an excellent showing in a game during which his team needed him to step up. In fact, this was McDaniels' second-best scoring output in the current playoff run, as he scored 25 points in the Game 2 win over the Suns in the first round. Rotowire.com Thursday, 9:02 pm

      Advice: McDaniels has been fairly quiet offensively since the first round but topped 20 points for the second time this postseason on Thursday while trailing only Aaron Gordon in blocks.       Advice: Horford dominated the boards in a series-clinching win Wednesday, leading all players in the contest in rebounds to go along with a handful of assists, a team-high trio of blocks and ending as one of two Celtics with 20 or more points in a double-double performance.       Advice: While Cleveland may have attempted to target Horford in the two-man game this series, the 37-year-old pivot made them pay in Game 5. He became the oldest player in NBA history to tally at least 20 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and five 3-pointers in a playoff game, passing LeBron James. Horford has been influential this season, especially with Kristaps Porzingis (calf) sidelined. That will remain the case in the conference finals, whether the Celtics draw New York or Indiana.       Advice: Holmgren stepped his game up on a night where Jalen Williams struggled with his shot, and the star rookie made his presence felt on both ends of the court, showing efficiency in his touch near the rim and being his usual disruptive self on the defensive end.
