      Advice: Game 6 was a tale of two halves for Irving, whose increased focus on the defensive end of the floor may have limited his energy on offense. At various points in Friday’s win, he was responsible for guarding James Harden or Paul George. After missing both of his field goal attempts and scoring two points in the first half, Kyrie went off in the second. The 28 points tied a career playoff high for most in a half, and he combined with Luka Doncic to score 58 of Dallas’ 114 points. Irving must bring similar defensive energy to the table in the second round, as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder are up next. Game 1 of that series is on Tuesday. A subpar Game 6 should not put too much of a damper on Maxey’s season, as he stepped up to become the emerging star Philadelphia believed it had when they finally traded James Harden. However, the point guard will be a restricted free agent this summer, and as Fat Joe famously said, “yesterday’s price is not today’s price.” Philadelphia should re-sign Maxey, but it will cost them more money than it would have if they’d extended his deal before the season began.       Advice: Portis once again dominated the glass for Milwaukee in a season-ending loss Thursday, leading all players in the contest in rebounds while ending as one of three Bucks with 20 or more points in a double-double outing. Portis stepped up nicely in the absence of Giannis Antetokounmpo (calf) in the first-round series, posting a double-double in five of the six contests while surpassing the 20-point mark in the final two games against Indiana.       Advice: After losing his composure and getting ejected from Game 4, Portis posted solid stat lines in the series’ final two games. But it wasn’t enough to keep the Bucks alive, as Giannis Antetokounmpo’s absence and the team’s lack of depth was too much to overcome. Due to his consistent value as a reserve, fantasy managers did not hesitate to use a late-round pick on Portis. The 2024-25 season is the last guaranteed season on Portis’ contract, as he has a player option for 2025-26. He should again be a reliable late-round option in standard leagues this fall.       Advice: Irving caught fire in Sunday’s Game 4 defeat, shooting 14-of-25 from the field and 6-of-12 from beyond the arc. He cooled off considerably in Game 5, specifically from three (1-of-7), but still managed to shoot 5-of-7 from two. Luka Doncic snapped out of his self-proclaimed funk, and other Mavericks stepped up as they handed the Clippers their worst postseason defeat in franchise history.
