This was Washington's best game of the current playoff run, as it was his first double-double since April 7.       Advice: Washington fouled out with a little over two minutes remaining in Dallas’ Game 2 victory, but he did plenty of damage before that point. He matched his career-high with seven 3-pointers, stepping up offensively on a night when Kyrie Irving failed to reach double figures. Washington’s arrival from Charlotte at the trade deadline helped the Mavericks defensively, and he has also been an effective catch-and-shoot option next to Irving and Luka Doncic. Also, Mitchell was more efficient as a scorer and playmaker on Thursday, with the eight assists countered by just one turnover.       Advice: Garland is in line for a rough matchup in this series, as he'll have to deal with two excellent defenders in Jrue Holiday and Derrick White, so his Game 1 display is not entirely surprising. He didn't have his best performances in the first-round series against the Magic either, and he's averaging just 14.8 points and 5.4 assists per game through eight playoff appearances. In fact, Garland has failed to surpass the 15-point mark in six of his eight playoff outings, a clear downgrade after averaging 18.0 points per contest during the regular season. Mitchell should continue to post excellent numbers as the Cavaliers' go-to player on offense -- by a wide margin -- but there's a chance his mighty performances might not translate into wins as happened against the Magic in the previous round.       Advice: This was Mitchell’s third straight game with at least 30 points, but it didn’t end up mattering in the end. Mitchell did most of his scoring in the first quarter (14) and third quarter (16), but he didn’t add much in the second and fourth quarter, which lined up with Cleveland’s offensive struggles. Mitchell was able to provide plenty of offense, but he’ll need help if the Cavaliers want to pull off the upset in this series.       Advice: Edwards didn't repeat the 43-point performance from Game 1, but he was highly efficient in this one and played a prominent role in the victory while also ending just three assists away from a double-double. Edwards has been almost unstoppable since the start of the playoffs and is averaging 32.3 points per game while keeping the Timberwolves undefeated through six postseason contests so far. If there was an issue for him, it was the turnovers, with the star guard racking up four, but to cite that would be to split hairs.
