McDaniels has now scored at least 20 points in three straight games -- a personal-best mark -- while shooting 68.6 percent from the field, so it wouldn't be shocking if he has a more prominent role as a scoring weapon in Game 2 on Friday.     Jaden McDaniels shot 9-of-15 from the field in Wednesday’s Game 1 loss to Dallas, tallying 24 points, four rebounds, three assists, one steal, and six 3-pointers in 39 minutes.

    Advice: After shooting 6-of-9 from three in the final two games of Minnesota’s second-round series win over Denver, McDaniels stayed hot in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. He made six of his nine attempts from deep against the Mavericks while also leading the Timberwolves in scoring. On a night when Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns combined to score 35 points on 12-of-36 shooting, McDaniels’ performance kept Minnesota within striking distance.     Advice: McDaniels scored 20-plus points for the second straight game, helping the Timberwolves to an impressive victory in Game 7. Although his offensive output can be inconsistent, he has been a little more reliable during the postseason. Coming up against the Mavericks in the Western Conference Finals, McDaniels is going to have to maintain his offensive mindset to contend with the likes of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.     Jaden McDaniels played 39 minutes in Sunday’s 98-90 win over the Nuggets, amassing 23 points (7-of-10 FGs, 6-of-7 FTs), six rebounds, one assist, one steal, one block, and three 3-pointers.

    Advice: Minnesota won the final two games of this series after getting blown out in Game 5, and McDaniels’ improved play had much to do with the turnaround. He scored 46 points in Games 6 and 7, shooting 15-of-20 from the field. Already a highly impactful defender, McDaniels’ progression as a scorer has paid dividends for the Timberwolves.   • Josh Hart plays 37 MIN despite abdominal strain
    Josh Hart shot 3-of-9 from the field and 4-of-4 from the foul line in Sunday’s 130-109 loss to the Pacers, tallying 10 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and two steals in 37 minutes.

    Advice: Despite suffering a strained abdominal muscle during Game 6, Hart was on the court for Game 7. Give him credit for gutting out 37 minutes before fouling out, but he wasn’t himself physically. Hart still contributed 10 points, eight rebounds, and five assists, but it wasn’t enough to help the Knicks erase an early deficit. Hart was expected to provide late-round fantasy value this season, and that’s precisely what he did. However, he was a 6th-round player in 9-cat formats after the trade deadline. Hart’s fantasy ceiling in 2024-25 will depend on what the Knicks do with the rest of the roster, as OG Anunoby can become a free agent, and Julius Randle (shoulder) will be healthy.     Advice: Hart once again gave all he had for New York in a winner-take-all battle, putting forth an all-around showing that included reaching double figures in scoring, ending two rebounds shy of the double-digit mark and adding a handful of assists as well as a team-high-tying pair of steals. Despite dealing with some injuries throughout the series against Indiana, Hart recorded at least 10 points and eight rebounds in five of the seven games in the series.     Advice: Hart will fight through an abdominal strain he sustained Friday and will be joined by OG Anunoby (hamstring) in the starting lineup for Game 7. While it remains to be seen if Hart will have any physical limitations due to the injury, it seems he will get as many minutes as he can handle. Although the 28-year-old has been playing 40-plus minutes in close games throughout the playoffs, he may have his minutes monitored Sunday due to the injury.     Luguentz Dort shot 3-of-10 from the field and 3-of-3 from the foul line in Saturday’s 117-116 loss to the Mavericks, amassing 11 points, three rebounds, one assist, three steals, and two 3-pointers in 32 minutes.

    Advice: After shooting 52.2% from three in Oklahoma City’s first-round sweep of New Orleans, Dort reverted to form against the Mavericks. He shot 31.7% from distance against Dallas, averaging 6.8 attempts per game. Dort was slightly worse from the field overall, shooting 31.1% while averaging 10.5 points per game. Providing offense after defending Luka Doncic certainly isn’t easy, but Oklahoma City will need continued growth from Dort as they look to contend in the West.
