    • Picking up player option
Hayes informed the Lakers on Friday that he will exercise his $2.4 million player option for the 2024-25 season, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Hayes likely would have been on track for a one-year contract at a similar salary level in free agency had he declined the option, so he'll stick around in Los Angeles with the hope that he can solidify himself as the top backup center under first-year head coach JJ Redick. Previous coach Darvin Ham deployed Hayes as Anthony Davis' primary backup in 2023-24, though the Lakers were without Hayes' main competitors for the position -- Jarred Vanderbilt and Christian Wood -- for much of the season due to injury. Vanderbilt and Wood are both healthy again and are under contract for the upcoming season, so Hayes could struggle to reach the 70 appearances and 12.5 minutes per contest he averaged in 2023-24. • Mutual interest between Klay Thompson, Dallas
There is “strong mutual interest” between Klay Thompson and the Mavericks, per Marc Stein.

Advice: There have been multiple reports that talks between Klay and the Warriors haven’t been going well, and there have also been reports that Dallas is interested in Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. Both players would bring championship pedigree and deep range shooting, so it isn’t surprising that Klay is being linked to Dallas. Thompson would likely fill out the starting small forward spot if he joins the Mavs and see plenty of open triples, courtesy of Luka Doncic. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:17 pm
    • Pistons decline Evan Fournier’s team option
The Pistons will not pick up Evan Fournier’s $19 million team option.

Advice: Fournier was completely out of the rotation with the Knicks last season, but he ended up playing a decent-sized role for Detroit after the trade deadline. However, there was no chance that they were going to pay him $19 million next season. He’ll have a chance to start fresh, but it’s unlikely that he is relevant in fantasy hoops next season. • E.J. Liddell included in Dejounte Murray deal
E.J. Liddell has been traded to the Hawks as part of the Dejounte Murray deal.

Advice: Liddell was a throw-in from the Pelicans after playing eight games in two years for them. He still has some upside, but it is unlikely that he is part of Atlanta’s rotation next season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:26 pm
    • Traded to Atlanta
The Hawks acquired Liddell along with Larry Nance, Dyson Daniels and two futurue first-round picks on Friday in exchange for Dejounte Murray, Christian Clark of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.

Advice: Liddell wasn't part of the New Orleans rotation this past season, as he averaged just 0.5 points and 0.6 rebounds across 2.9 minutes in eight appearances. He will now compete for a roster spot as a depth frontcourt option in Atlanta. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:06 pm
    • Team declines option
The Pistons declined Fournier's $19 million team option Friday, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The move was fully anticipated, as Fournier had fallen well short of expectations since joining the Knicks on a three-year, $54 million deal in August 2021 as part of a sign-and-trade deal with the Celtics. The veteran wing was outside of the New York rotation before being dealt to Detroit prior to the deadline. He then averaged 7.2 points, 1.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.1 triples across 18.7 minutes in 29 games with the team. He'll likely have to settle for a one-year deal -- perhaps at the veteran's minimum -- if he's to keep his NBA career going. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:55 pm
    • Shams: Josh Richardson exercising player option
Josh Richardson will pick up his $3 million player option to remain with the Heat, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

Advice: Richardson didn’t play the final few months of last season after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder in early March, but he is expected to make a full recovery before next season begins. He played a reserve role before the injury, and he should once again play a decent-sized role off the bench next year, but he isn’t a player that will make much of a fantasy impact. • Picks up option
Richardson (shoulder) exercised his $3 million player option Friday and will return to Miami for the 2024-25 season, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

Advice: A shoulder injury in February led to a premature ending to Richardson's 2023-24 season, but he was a rotational player prior to the injury. Overall, he averaged 9.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.5 triples and 0.6 steals across 25.7 minutes in 43 games. The veteran wing will look to earn a similar role for the Heat in the upcoming season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:14 pm
    • Dealt to Atlanta
The Hawks acquired Daniels, Larry Nance and two future first-round picks from the Pelicans on Friday in exchange for Dejounte Murray, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

Advice: As expected, the Hawks have dealt one of their two backcourt starters, and they will now shift to a younger look after selecting Zaccharie Risacher with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. It's easy to forget Daniels was selected with the No. 8 overall pick in 2022, as he struggled to find consistent minutes due to injury and an influx of win-now talent on New Orleans' roster. Daniels, listed at 6-foot-7 and 199 pounds, is a versatile on-ball defender who can disrupt players across the board. On offense, he's shown playmaking upside, but he struggles shooting the ball. It's not a perfect fit next to Trae Young, but he's the right player to take a chance on during a soft rebuild. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:00 pm
