Player Notes

  • Kyrie Irving scores 24 points in win vs. BOS
Kyrie Irving scored 24 points with two rebounds, seven assists, two steals and four 3-pointers in 32 minutes against the Celtics on Thursday.

Advice: The Cavs exploded in the first half with 75 points to set a playoff franchise record. Irving just continues to cook up Boston, especially in the second half. He scored 11 points in the first five minutes of the second half today after he dropped 21 points in the third quarter during Game 4. Irving didn't have the best series against the Raptors, but he'll head into the Golden State series with a ton of momentum. The Warriors probably don't want Kyrie taking on shots from the right wing. • Amir Johnson scores one point
Amir Johnson scored one point with three rebounds in six minutes against the Cavs on Thursday.

Advice: He didn't play in the first half and wasn't really in the rotation until this game got out of hand. Johnson is going to be a free agent this summer and it's possible the Celtics don't bring him back after an underwhelming finish to his season. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 7:56 pm
  • Klay thinks about 2016 Finals every day
Klay Thompson said he thinks about the 2016 NBA Finals every day.

Advice: "I always thought about it. We were so close last year … a game away," Thompson said. "I would be lying to you if I didn’t think about it all the time." The Warriors haven't had a 3-1 lead since last year, but all of NBA Twitter will be ready for the jokes if the Warriors have another 3-1 lead next month. As for Thompson, his usage rate in the playoffs has dropped to just 21.0, which is down from 26.2 in the regular season. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 1:18 pm
  • Luc Mbah a Moute expected to opt out
Luc Mbah a Moute is expected to opt out of his contract for the 2017-18 season.

Advice: He was slated to earn just $2.3 million next season, so it's an easy decison for LMAM as the 30-year-old veteran is looking to secure a long-term deal. Mbah a Moute is a good defender and locker room guy, but he's unlikely to make a fantasy impact anywhere he goes. In 22.3 minutes per game, he averaged 6.1 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.0 steals. • Marreese Speights looking for $8.2 million
Marreese Speights is looking for the mid-level exception of about $8.2 million per year according to Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times.

Advice: Speights has already officially opted out his player option for next season, so he's an unrestricted free agent this summer. With the Clippers hoping to re-sign Blake Griffin and Chris Paul to max deals, Speights' contract demands are likely going to be too high for the Clippers to bring him back. He's a nice per-minute guy with averages of 8.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, 0.5 blocks and 1.3 treys in 15.7 minutes per game, so hopefully he can find himself a nice role this summer.
