Player Notes

  • Kyle Lowry puts up 17/5/8 in series clincher
Kyle Lowry made 6-of-10 attempts (2-of-2 FTs) for 17 points in Saturday's Game 6, adding five rebounds, eight assists, one steal and three 3-pointers in 41 minutes against the Bucks.

Advice: After two up-and-down performances to start off the postseason, Lowry stepped his game up in the Conference Finals. He shot over 50 percent from the field and nearly 50 percent from three. His days of being known as a playoff under-performer are assuredly over, and he'll have a chance to cement his legacy in Toronto against the Warriors in the Finals. Saturday, 8:33 pm
  • Kyrie Irving to consider signing in Brooklyn?
If Kyrie Irving were to leave the Celtics, he and his camp plan to strongly consider a move to the Nets, reports Anthony Puccio of SportsNet New York.

Advice: While he was in the midst of a rocky tenure in Boston, Irving was admiring what the Nets have built from afar. Irving, a childhood Nets fan, also has a relationship with D'Angelo Russell. Sources tell Puccio that the Nets see a possible Irving-Russell backcourt as one that could excel greatly together. Russell is a restricted free agent himself and Irving will have quite a few options available to him this summer, but the Nets appear to be a prominent factor in both equations. Saturday, 1:19 pm
  • Who's Your Daddy: Fred VanVleet Sr. scores 21
Fred VanVleet Sr. made a career-high seven 3-pointers against the Bucks on Thursday, finishing with 21 points, one rebound, one assist and no turnovers in 37 minutes.

Advice: The new proud papa of Fred VanVleet Jr. spent last night in Rockford, Illinois, and made a 90-minute drive to Milwaukee this morning before a quick afternoon nap. FVV said he hasn't been sleeping much lately since the birth of his second child, but the emotional high has been carrying him through this series. Adding to the daddy narrative, FVV is 10-of-12 from deep in the last two games since FVV Jr. is alive. He closed this game out and he'll be looking at big minutes again on Saturday. Thursday, 8:18 pm
  • Malcolm Brogdon with 18 points in 34 minutes
Malcolm Brogdon moved into the starting lineup for Game 5 during a 105-99 loss to the Raptors on Thursday, scoring 18 points with 11 rebounds, six assists, one steal, three turnovers and two 3-pointers in 34 minutes.

Advice: It's more than obvious he'll be starting again in Game 6 with Brogdon putting up a team-high +18 in plus/minus. Brogdon took pressure off Giannis Antetokounmpo and he was arguably the most effective Buck in half-court sets. The President is going to need another outstanding game on Saturday with the Bucks down 2-3 and on a three-game losing streak for their longest losing streak of the year. Thursday, 8:12 pm
  • Kemba Walker makes All-NBA Third Team
Kemba Walker was named to the All-NBA Third Team on Thursday.

Advice: Walker making the All-NBA squad will give the Hornets some leverage with him during free agency, as they're now the only club that can offer him a five-year, $221 million deal; whereas other teams can only offer him four years at $140 million. Joining him on the Third Team will be Russell Westbrook, LeBron James, Blake Griffin and Rudy Gobert -- and Gobert is also now eligible for a supermax extension. Thursday, 11:31 am
