  • Magic pick up Markelle Fultz's option
The Magic picked up their team option on Markelle Fultz for the 2020-21 season.

Advice: This actually isn't just a formality with Fultz now slated to make a whopping $12.3 million during the 2020-21 season. Just this morning, Josh Robbins of The Athletic said there's still no known timetable for Fultz, but there have been some promising videos of him showing off his revamped jumper. Read into this what you want, but the Magic must be confident in the progress of his rehab to guarantee this much salary. With Fultz' status for training camp still in the air, the starting PG job will be D.J. Augustin's to lose. Yesterday, 12:26 pm
  • Zach LaVine working on his playmaking skills
Zach LaVine said he's been working on his playmaking skills this summer.

Advice: "I gotta work on my turnovers, I try to make some risky passes where you get a little bit of tunnel vision and can make some turnovers, but I feel like those aggressive plays sometimes help your team out," said LaVine. "With my playmaking, I feel like I can take another jump this year." LaVine had a career-year last season, but his turnovers also spiked to 3.4 after committing less than 2.0 per game in his previous three seasons. If he can keep down the turnovers next year, that would really help his value in 9-cat leagues. Yesterday, 11:17 am
  • Tyler Herro is a long-shot to be a starter?
Tyler Herro had an impressive Summer League, but Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel doesn't believe that Herro will have a starting role right away.

Advice: Winderman mentions that the odds of Herro beginning the season in the starting lineup lessened once the team signed veteran Jimmy Butler. Still, though, Herro only really has to compete with perennial-disappointment Dion Waiters for the starting job. Justise Winslow focusing on playing point guard should only open up more opportunities for Herro. Coach Erik Spoelstra recently admitted that the Heat have "big expectations" for their rookie, and we know he's not afraid to lean on younger players. Herro is a great lottery ticket late in drafts. • Devin Harris weighing his potential options
Veteran Devin Harris is weighing his options, including retirement.

Advice: Harris, now 36-years-old, averaged just shy of 16 minutes in 68 games for the Mavericks last season. Even if he does find the right opportunity, Harris will have next to zero fantasy value next season. Sunday, 1:57 pm

  • J.J. Barea (Achilles) cleared for 5-on-5 work
J.J. Barea (right Achilles) has been going through 5-on-5 work and expects to be a "full go" when training camp opens on October 1.

Advice: Barea tore his Achilles back in January, but he's been attacking his rehab aggressively, and it looks like he'll be ready for the start of the 2019-20 season. He should be a rotation player in Dallas, but the Mavs will likely ease him back into things and the presence of Delon Wright and Jalen Brunson will make it tough for him to earn enough minutes to make an impact in fantasy hoops.
